Unfortunately, the disc never burned. Here's what my computer said to me:

I/O Error!
Device (0:0:0) Pioneer BD-RW
BDR-205 1.04 (D:) (ATAPI)

SCAI Status 0X02
Interpretation: Check Condition

SDB = AA 00 00 13 EO 20 0000 99 20 40 00
Interpretation = Write (12) - Sectors: 1302560-1302591

Sense Area - 71 00 04 00 13 00 00 0E 00 00 00 00 44 00 00 0000 00

Interpretation: Internal Target Failure

Then when I click on "Retry" at the bottom of the message, the message simply repeats.

When I go into the working files area and click on the streams to play with VLC, they do work. I am a novice with all these files as well as IMG Burns, so would you direct me (or tell me) what files (or folders) I need to manually drag over to IMG Burn, so I an see if a bluray 25 will work so I don't have to re run the program and try again for another 18 hours? Also, is 18 hours really necessary to get a high quality version of this disc?

Thanks again,
Richard

@RichardB;
If you look inside of the destination folder you chose for your backup, you will see a folder named after your source. Inside of this folder will be two folders, BDMV and CERTIFICATE. Those contain the files you need to burn.
You will want to use IMGBurn, udf 2.5. ( IMGBurn will set it up for you )
I would recommend creating an image first that you can test with a software player like PowerDVD. Then, if all looks good, test burn to a BD-RE for playback on your standalone. If all is still good, burn to BD-R.

It'll waste a few bits.Verificators are always look for this flag (i know they maybe are wrong), all comercial encoders are use by default, earlier HRD patches are use it by default, so is completly safe, and will not make any harm.

Anyways, we're currently getting Criterion to do some Blu-ray validation for us. If everything passes, NAL-HRD will be officially done and x264 will support creation of real Blu-ray compliant streams. I cant wait to see that day :D

@jdobbs, thanks for quick update.

That is absolutely fantastic. Can I read more about this validation process anywhere?

I'm not 100% sure (because I did not save the project so that I would be able to doublecheck now) but I have the impression that in batchmode 32.08 "forgets" the selected audio streams and uses the default settings.

Can anyone confirm this?

+++++

Seems like I was fooled by BD RB:
the conversion is fine with only the selected audio streams I wanted BUT BD RB displayed (after it had finished) ALL default audio streams and not the selection I had made.

I'm a little confused, sorry...

Under THE_DARK_KIGHT source folder contains the folder:
CERTIFICATE
If I open CERTIFICATE I get a bunch of small files and two folders:
BACKUP
BDMV

Do I drag the entire CERTIFICATE folder over, or just the BDMV folder, or any other combination / permutation?

Also, what is udf 2.5 and how do I make sure it is activated?

pic struct is completely unnecessary for Blu-ray. x264 automatically enables it when necessary (interlaced, pulldown).

You should set strict pyramid, not none. There is no reason why none should ever be necessary.

Is there any way to set these parameters in the current build, or is there going to be a new release soon making these corrections?

Drag "The Dark Knight" folder - it contains all necessary files/folders

Imgburn normally sets UDF 2.50 automatically (for BD material) but you can doublecheck in the "Options" tab.

FWIW BDMV folder has no place inside CERTIFICATE...

You must have

\CERTIFICATE
\BDMV

Latest release notes:

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to a new release of BD-RB (v0.32.08). Changes for this version:- Added "--pic-struct" to command lines. This should
ensure a greater level of strict BD compliancy.
- Added "--b-pyramid none" to the command line. This
should prevent problems on some playback devices.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Note: I've also added a new hidden option. If you set

B_PYRAMID=1

in the INI file, the command line will set "--b-pyramid strict" rather than "--b-pyramid none"

Comment by the x264 developer:

pic struct is completely unnecessary for Blu-ray. x264 automatically enables it when necessary (interlaced, pulldown).

You should set strict pyramid, not none. There is no reason why none should ever be necessary.

So you can set the B_PYRAMID=1 to enable strict pyramid, but is there any way to disable the --pic-struct command?

There is no reason to disable pic-struct, it should be stay always ON. No reason to disable it.

Not trying to be a dick, but are you following the thread at all?

Hmmm... I was misinformed. Will having the "--pic-struct" do any harm?
It'll waste a few bits.

Not trying to be a dick, but are you following the thread at all?He's right. If Blu-ray analyzers want it, keep it, it can't hurt. A few bits is nothing at Blu-ray bitrates.

I'm sorry I'm slightly confused is the default for the program "pyramid none" ?is "strict" more desirable?

The default is "Normal".

"Strict" isn't as efficient as "Normal", but is necessary for Blu-Ray compatibility.

Hi firends & BD Rebuilder enthusiasts,

Last weekend was the end of my Win7 RC1 and re-installation of a full version (windows 7-64 ultimate).
Like with all re-installations usually comes trouble, first thing i tried is BD-Rebuilder to make sure everything was okay.

I sucessfully Rebuilt a 'Movie only' with no problem = 100% working.

HOWEVER, only two days after that, i am now unable to do anything. Each time i run BD-Rebuilder, when it gets to encoding, x264 stops working (looks like it crashes)
I am currently running BD-rebuilder (0.32.05). Latest abvailable version = same result.

Windows doesn't give any clue why x264 crashes.
When the first crash happened, i was running Handbrake in the background (also using x264 as an encoder) so my first guess was 'x264 doesn't like to be run in multiple instances'.
I closed everything and rebooted but no effect.

Curiously, Handbrake doesn't seems to have any problem (still) using x264 (no crash) but nothin' to do when it's called by BD-Rebuilder (running alone in the machine).

I also tough of a crappy data left over in some mysterious 'AppData/User/Roam/x264...' path but i cannot find where (if any) x264 would store temporary config data.

Anyone have any clue on this ?

Thanxs !

Hi Dean!

In the THE_DARK_KNIGHT folder I have ONE folder ...

CERTIFICATE

under CERTIFICATE I have two folders...

BACKUP and BDMV
plus a bunch of little things (app.discount, bu.discount, id.bdmu,online.online,online.sig)

did I screw up? What do I drag over? (Seems to me I can't drag the Certificate AND MDMV file together if BDMV is a subset of Certificate!?!?).

There are two folders you want, BDMV and CERTIFICATE. Check your original source disc, it will have two just like this. Any other folders are unnecessary.
So you should have one folder with the name "DARK KNIGHT" that was inside the destination folder you selected. That is the folder you want to direct IMGBurn to. And inside of that folder will be the other two folders. Thats it!

You have to look at the streams while the encoding is being accomplished. BD-RB loads the selections from batch -- but returns them to their previous state after completion.

If handbrake installs any codecs, or changes the priorities of codecs, this is most likely your issue.:cool:
Start all over again with the uninstall first of the three programs jdobbs recommends, Avisynth, haali, and ffdshow. Reboot. install those three programs again.
Unzip a fresh BD-RB, "Look in the BD-RB folder. There is a .BAT file called "REG_MSCOMCTL.BAT" -- simply right click onit and run it as administrator."
Then, if that does not work, right clicking on BD_Rebuilder.EXE and select "Run as Administrator"

thanks for the info. .07 has worked great for my panasonic bd-60. Was concerned about the newest revision in terms of compatibilty with default settings ie "normal" Just a point for clarification. Default settings in BD-RB aren't set to "normal" -- you're confusing BD-RB defaults with those in X264. BD-RB v0.32.07 overrides the X264 default, and will not even allow you to set it to "normal" because it would be non-standard for Blu-Ray. It is always either "none" or "strict" depending upon the setting of the B_PYRAMID hidden parameter.

@RichardB

Rarely does X264 ever crash. If it appears to be crashing in BD-RB -- you can pretty much assume that it is a problem with the CODEC that is frame-serving to it -- and that's almost always because some other package has "fiddled" with your software versions or settings.

Hi !

Okay, I'm completely confused. There seems to be a disagreement on this forum as to what the file structure should be regarding the correct DVD Rebuilder output. As I have said, my CERTIFICATE folder contains my BDMV Folder along with my BACKUP folder and a bunch of little files.

When I try to drag over THE_DARK_KNIGHT folder in its entirety IMGBurn won't accept it!

BTW.. below is the report frrom IMGBurn, when it first failed when DVD Rebuilder instructed it to write .

Okay - Always a nice idea - 'Redo from start'. It works although the REG_MSCOMCTL.BAT file wouldn't execute complaining of a missing DLL but at least, i'm pass the point where x264 would crash.. Let you know in 5 hours in a half if everything went fine = )

:thanks:

Richard

There should be 2 separate folders BDMV and Certificate. The BDMV folder should not repeat should not be inside the Certificate folder . (If there isn't a Certificate folder Imgburn will add it for you). Just drag the BDMV folder over if there is a Certificate folder in the same location it(imgburn) will move it over for you. Good luck

Thanks for the info, great job by the way on the program. I will be updating to .08 shortly. Will be donating to the cause again soon thx. Whoops, got my versions mixed up. .08 is the one that sets b-pyramid.

RichardThere's no confusion. If the BDMV is in your CERTIFICATE folder you probably dragged it there by mistake. It happens. But BDMV and CERTIFICATE should both be at the same level. If BD-RB created them, they are in a folder named after the disc.

FYI, did a full backup of Natural Born Killers (Unrated) with 0.32.08, with "B_PYRAMID=1" added in the .ini file. Resulting disc plays fine in PS3 Slim and Oppo BDP-83.

I am having problems with "full backup" mode. The few discs I have tried consistently fail with the same message "error in attempt to multiplex," but when I do "movie only" mode it works fine. For the movie CHE I tried it twice in full backup and it gave me same error in two different places. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess is you're running out of disc space on partition C:.

That's really odd... maybe an access rights issue?

I doubt it, but maybe I should try putting my workfiles in a different directory, i.e. not my user folder? However, I have made succesful full backups very recently with the same setup and the movie only mode worked on the same movie.

Maybe it will give a clue as to something that might be happening. (I'm not sure what you BD Rebuilder path is).

It is good to add some kind of NTFS/FAT32 check for the destination folder.

You know that most users/admins(?!) chose FAT32 for system drive and that would cause such issues with backups.

I searched but couldn't find an answer. I'm using 32.08 and movie-only to dvd-9. When I drop the index.bdmv into avchd patcher 1.06 with indx version 0100, I get an error message that says the file was patched and doesn't change the indx.bdmv but it changes the movieobject.bdmv file. Am I doing something wrong? When I burn the movie to a dvd-9, it plays in my Samsung standalone but not in my friend's Samsung soundbar BD player.

Does 32.08 automatically patch the indx and movieobject files when I select movei-only to dvd-9? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

concerning playback on a samsung:

- did you use "strict avchd mode"? if not, give it a go.
- did you make sure to omit auxdata folder? samsung player dont like it.
- my samsung (1600) does not accept -ROM as booktype; any chance you use -rom instead of +r or -r?

jdobbs, firstly awesome program, and your dedication to this thread is impressive. Was looking back cause I'm sure I saw you comment that allowing the full HD audio sound for a DVD9 wasn't feasible as the movie would be shrunk too much. I just converted Kung Fu Panda to BD25 with HD Audio and the main movie ended up at 8.3Gb, which would be perfect as a movie only DVD9. Would it be possible to have the feature for full HD Audio and movie only enabled for DVD9? In some situations it might suit people. I know if I could get a 6000kbps rip and HD Audio I would be very happy.

Thanks,

Thanks, Sorry but it's just not feasible. I'd be spending most of my time responding to posts/e-mails about how X264 and BD Rebuilder both suck because the output is so blocky. Most people who use the software don't even know what a "bitrate" is... There might be an exception every now and then -- but for the most part you just have to resign yourself to the fact that you can't put 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag.

Go back through this thread and count the number of times someone had to be instructed to install the software from the first post and you'll understand...

I did two backups since updating to V32.05 and I am having issues with both backups, one full movie on BD-25 and the other movie only on BD-9. Whenever I press FF or REW keys, the picture freezes and the only way to unfreeze it (resume playback ) is by powering down the player. I am only having issues with Pioneer BDP-51-FD. I don't have a problem with the PS3.

I have done many backups with 31.05 and 31.06 and in all my of my backups the FF and REW function work fine with all my players. What could be causing this issue ?

BTW, I didn't want to upgrade from 31.06 because I never had any issues at all but when I launch BR-RB the program doesn't launch but keep saying to upgrade to the latest beta version. Since my primary player is the Pioneer 51FD, this is a major bug for me. Is there anyway I could keep using the 31.06 without the need to upgrade to the latest version ?

I did two backups with V32.07 and the FF and REW issues I had with Pio FD51 is gone. :thanks:
