Updated my computer to Office 2016 Pro Plus today. All versions of BD Rebuilder now do not launch the following error code is received:
System Error &H80004023 (-2147467229). A Microsoft Software Installer error was encountered.
Has anyone else encountered this, knows how to fix?I can assure you it has nothing to do with BD-RB and everything to do with Office 2016. BD-RB doesn't even use the Microsoft Software Installer.

@jdobbs
Thank you for the update.
For clarification:
New quality settings means 0=worst, 4=best?
Do the numbers correspond to those numbers which are created via the regular settings menu?I should have made that clearer. They are 1:1 with the settings in the Quality Menu.
0=Good Quality (Very Fast)
1=Better Quality (Faster)
2=High Quality (Default)
3=Highest Quality (Very Slow) - Overkill
4=Ultra Quality (Extremely Slow) - Massive Overkill

Thanks, understood.
And the --frame-packing is effective and makes 3D-SBS stored on the NAS playing correctly as 2D on the Tablet. It's just a pity that not all players support it.
A minor issue:
It seems that the DOWNRESIZE=xxxx is still ignored when outputting to an alternate container.
Perhaps in the next release ...? :)

Thank you for responding. I know it had nothing to do with BD-Rebuilder. Hoping someone else encountered, knew what to do. My searching reveals it is the uninstall of Office 2013 leaving registry keys behind. I reinstalled office 2013, kept office 2016 installed, which made the problem go away.
BTW, very much like your software. Thank you!

Does this version allow forcing a subtitle track in Quick-Play rebuilds or haven't you gotten a chance to look at that yet?
That would be great.
I need this feature/ option too. Not only in movie mode
many thanks and kind regards

That was it. Unistalling Office 2013 removes the MSCOMCTL.OCX file from the sysWOW64 folder. The file was still in the System32 folder. Once you copy the file into both folders, executing your MSCOMCTL.BAT works to register the files and all goes back to working.
Once again, thank for responding and pointing me in the right direction to resolve my issue.

@jdobbs
Source is 1080i25.
In the Setup menu "Use Deinterlacer on interlaced sources" is selected. DEINTERLACER_TYPE= is unspecified (default). Accordingly the source gets deinterlaced as "FieldDeinterlace(blend=true)"
Now my point:
Alternate output is .mkv 1280x720
=> Encoding is 720p25 using --fake interlaced .
Is the --fake-interlaced posssibly a leftover from a previous encode which didn't get reset? Does it matter at all?
Added:
Alternatively, because the source is progressive video encoded interlaced (MBAFF), I disabled "Use Deinterlacer". In this case the encode becomes 720i25 (MBAFF). Maybe that's the better alternative quality-wise (no need for bluray compliance)?
As a 3rd option I tried "Use Deinterlacer" with DEINTERLACER_TYPE=4. As expected the progressive video is not getting deinterlaced, and the .mkv is 720p25 --fake interlaced. (because of the DEINTERLACER_TYPE=4)
Not sure which one is the recommended option now. All seem to play ok, but for Alternate output I did not find a setting which does not deinterlace the progressive 1080i25 source and encode it as 720p25 (or 720p50) without --fake-interlaced being set. Maybe I am missing something?
Sharc

The source is a 1920x1080i25 blu-ray disc. You find these here sometimes.
I think it is a 24fps film speed up to 25fps and encoded interlaced (MBAFF) simply for for Blu-ray compliance which requests interlaced for 25fps.
It is not telecined and there is no temporal movement between field pairs.
jdobbs
18th March 2016, 16:15
The source should be deinterlaced and set as progressive, regardless of your settings -- because it's not a good idea to create 720 interlaced. I'll have to look at the code. But I can think of no reason why "--fake-interlaced" would be set on 720 output (unless you are forcing it with DEINTERLACER_TYPE=4 -- and I can think of no reason why you'd want to do that). Apparently it's because of the combination of the source being flagged as interlaced (in order to be legal at 25fps). What you'd really want is to convert it to 23.976/1280x720p. But I forego a lot of those kinds of checks on ALTERNATE, because you can pretty much output any way you want.
If you're getting 720p25 with --fake-interlaced set as the default, there might be a logic error in my code somewhere. Ill need to look at it and give it some thought.
Sharc

Such sources are handled correctly for Blu-ray outputs. They would get encoded as 1280x720p50 (either doubling frames or applying pulldown). The issue exists only for Alternate output. Maybe it is because the resizing is initiated by the alternate.txt profile and not via the settings menu.
Thanks for looking at it, but maybe it's not worth the pain to fix it.
jdobbs
18th March 2016, 16:37
Exactly right. There are checks that don't occur for ALTERNATE. But, it might be a good idea to make sure I don't output goofy formats, though. I'll have to think about it.

Quick question about x265, does it have an option to allow the GTX 970 hardware encoder to be used? (Or any other cards that have a HEVC encoder) The --opencl tweak for the x264 encoder nets me about a 20% increase in speed, so I was curious if the x265 stuff had yet come along enough to get the hardware encoders involved. Thanks. :)

Oh well, I was just curious. I don't make backups with x265 yet, it's pretty slow still, though I'd guess as newer hardware comes along it will become a more viable option. I will say that the NVENC encoder makes it go really fast. I encoded a 13GB video to HVEC with x265 and it took 2 hrs and 6 mins, but that same file with NVENC took 19 mins. So there certainly is future potential in hardware acceleration as more software adds support for it. I know the x265 dev effort is more centered on quality than on speed, and there are certainly differences in quality among the various encoders so I think they've got the right idea, but it's fun to see progress being made toward speedier encodes. :) Thanks for checking on that setting.

Tiny error. If you click browse and then click cancel button application complains about invalid BD format. Error message should pop-up only if user clicks OK.It only does that if the current value in the PATH area is invalid. Since you aborted the new selection, it re-scans the existing path to reestablish it at the source.

I ran Return Of The Jedi w/ BD-RB 0.50.14, ALTERNATE output, mp4 auto-gop auto-aac 1920x1080, I included all the english subtitles, encoder set to High Quality, yet mediainfo states no subtitles are in the file & vlc shows no subtitles are available.
I also did Angel Heart & Midnight Express with the first English subtitle, also mediainfo & vlc show no subtitle being there.

It's a limitation of MP4. You would need to convert to SRT.

Not sure where this is coming from, but I did change to a different ripper recently (used to use AnyDVD, now I'm using FabDVD). Could that be it?
jdobbs

Possibly. I have the 3D version of "Wizard of Oz" in my collection. I can test it with AnyDVD. Can you post your settings (BDREBUILDER.INI) so I can make sure we're consistent?
Interesting that it looks like FRIM worked on first stream but failed on the main feature.

I'm getting the same error, with or without your settings. I'll have to look at it and see why it's doing this.Unfortunately the issue seems to be in FRIM itself -- and it only seems to be associated with that disc. I tried several other 3D discs with no issues. But for some reason FRIM's decoder cannot decode that specific 3D stream. The same is true for FRIM's AVISYNTH plugin. I'll do some more testing, but it's unlikely that I'll be able to do anything about it since it's out of my control.

In the meantime, if a movie-only backup is adequate, you can deselect a few of the audio tracks and create a no-reencoding-required ISO backup using TSMUXER that will fit on a BD-25.

@jdobbs just encountered the first disc i think my bd85 wouldn't play natively but i don't think the player's at fault. When i loaded the disc in BDRB i was greeted with the following. I've never seen this one before. What should i use? I'm guessing that same error is the cause why my player tries loading a couple times (loudly), then displays STOP, and when i press play again "that function is not available". Reinsert disc = repeat.

@Ch3vr0n
That error is presented by DGDecNV -- I've seen it before (don't remember when), and I just hit "Yes" -- I think there may be more info out there if you search for it.

Did you encounter any playback issues with the audio? Or notice any difference if you clicked no or cancel?

I have burned MockingJay Part 2 twice now and I still have the same issue. I have upgraded to the latest version. The video skips frames, you can watch the jet flyers skip through space.The audio is out of sync. I am burning the movie only to a 25 Gbyte disk and my log file is as follows:
I am using windows 10.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
MJ Pt2 is a Lionsgate title that uses Playlist Obfuscation as a copy prevention technique. I had the same problem as you until I got the correct playlist. It depends on the source of the disk. It looks like your project used playlist 428. If you are using the US Region 1 retail disk, 428 may not be the correct playlist. The MakeMKV forum may be a good source to help you figure it out.

I have seen this once or twice. AFAIK I clicked yes and had no playback issues. I didn't try the other options though. I suspect the message comes from DGdecNV which discovers an ambiguity in the audio stream definition which it doesn't want to resolve unattended. Try to open the .m2ts stream directly in DGIndexNV and see if you get the same message. If so, you could ask for more details in the rationaleqm.us forum, or select another decoder and see if it makes a difference.

@Ch3vr0n
If you go into DGIndexNV >> Options >> Response to Mismatched Audio you can set an auto response
The documentation that comes with DGDecNV has some info on it

@ Eazypoints RE: I'm getting the "FRIMEncode has stopped working" message on several different disks, right at the start of on the main movie reencode:
When I did "The Wizard of OZ 3D", I had the same problems. Run BD_RB and do a "full disk" custom size of 50000 and rebuild to a Blu-ray folder. Take that folder and feed it back to BD_Rebuilder and it will complete successfully with a smaller size. I don't really know why, but it worked for me.

That would make you think that it is the structure of the original disc that is causing the FRIM error. At least there's a solution. I'll give it a try too, just to see if there's anything that might enlighten me in the process as to why FRIM is failing.
Just knowing that BD-RB can rebuild it into a structure that is more compatible with FRIM and the Intel SDK than the original is a pretty satisfying thought.
[Edit] Additional note: In the case of "The Wizard of Oz 3D", if you just select the languages you need and allow the default conversion from DTS to AC3, the output of the no-encode full-disc backup is small enough to put on a BD-25 already -- and you don't even need to do the second encode. You have a full disc backup with a perfect representation of the original video!

Hello folks,
I gave the 3d support of bd rb a try, but no success :( The movie's been "Jurassic World 3D". After backing up to 25 GB the film was in 2D and the tv offered to display it in a 2D-to-3D-conversion :(
Am I doing something wrong? Is more info needed? Is this normal behavior?

Post your log and your settings. What player are you using? Some software players have issues with different types of 3D structures. The only real test is with a 3D standalone player connected to a 3D monitor.

At first I tried my standalone Sony BD Player (updated and approx. 2 years old) in combination with my standalone 3D-ready Philips TV (also approx. 2 years old). In PowerDVD I tried the 50 GB ISO file of the disc also with no success.

@bobross
Is your source a Blu-Ray disc?

It sounds like the source is corrupted, or isn't decrypted properly.
