53GB is NOT plenty. During the rebuilding process there will be more than 1 copy in existence on your HDD; the original, the extract files, the re-encode, and the rebuild. The intermediate steps (extract and re-encode) are usually deleted after the subsequent step, but you do need extra HDD space for the interim processes.

Hi. I get the structure of the NT FileSystem (NTFS) and it'll show as 0 or something resembling that if there isn't any "Storage Space" free somewhere in the process. I appreciate your analysis, thank You. :D
53GB wasn't the start of the amount, that's the left over free space. At the start it was about twice that. :D

Why in the world would you add that character to a pathname anyway? This question is entirely irrelevant (a little as if you were asking about the color of one's underwear :D) but since you ask I'll reply anyway.

Many power users use such special characters to get a coherent folder structure that doesn't rely on mere alphabetical sorting. They are very useful, for instance, to create visual groups of folders in the explorer.

Anyway, these characters exist, using them is entirely legitimate whatever the reason to do so. They should, as such, be taken in consideration by programmers.

Don't take me wrong: I'm not complaining at all, since rebuilder is free, is very helpful to me and you're definitly doing a great job. Besides, I'm not even sure that the problem doesn't lie with AFTEN rather than with your work.

I simply created a root folder entirely dedicated to BDRB output, really no big deal to break my habits for a free program that does so much right.

I think it's nonetheless important that you are aware of the glitch caused by this. Now what you do with the info is entirely up to you. :)

It is a valid character for file/path names but remember that its value is outside of the US-ASCII range (00h - 7Fh). So, if you cut and paste something (a command line with notepad for example), the necessary ANSI-OEM conversion does not take place. Aften has no problem with this character by the way.
I also use special characters to get file/folder sorting to my liking but I stick to characters in the ASCII range, like "_", "#", "$", etc.

Thanks for the info.
I had no idea that "§ " was outside the range, unlike "$" and "#"... learning something everyday.

Don't take me wrong: I'm not complaining at all, since rebuilder is free, is very helpful to me and you're definitly doing a great job. And while at it I just made a second donation. :thanks:

I'm encouraging all BDRB users to donate BTW. :)

After the install of FFDSHOW , run "Video Decoder Configuration" for FFDSHOW from the "START/Programs" menu, and make sure MPEG2 decoding is enabled. Do the same using "Audio Decoder Configuration" to ensure "Uncompressed" is set to "All Supported". See if that helps.

BTW, this is on the first page of this thread.

From the configuration instructions in the first post:
- run "Video Decoder Configuration" for FFDSHOW from the "START/Programs" menu, and make sure MPEG2 decoding is enabled.
- Do the same using "Audio Decoder Configuration" to ensure "Uncompressed" is set to "All Supported".

Did you do that?

on W7 you need to run the bdrb.exe with admin rights the first time (or atleast once) so that it can correctly set the codecs if it doesnt work completely via the instructions in the first post

From changelog

- Changed MKV output so no PGS subtitle is selected
by default at playback.

Is there any hidden option that I can use to revert this behaviour? It's troublesome for my kids to select subtitle since my mediaplayer does not select automatically.

Today I have to remux the MKV to set the default PGS.

Hi!

I'm trying to recode "Sarah Connor Chronicles Season 2" to BD25. BDRebuilder has a very strange behaviour here. It doesn't give back any error messages, but recoding the VC1 Videos takes place at approximately 1 FPS. This way it takes forever! I already tried DVDfab, which gives me an error message with these discs at 50% recoding.
I think it should be much faster, since my system does with h264 material (AMD Phenom II X6 1090t).

What's the problem here?

thx

I'm encoding from harddrive.

omegaman7
27th September 2012, 16:12
I'm encoding from harddrive.

A faulty cable, or faulty hard drive COULD behave like that. I must admit though, that has to be highly rare...
Though faulty Sata cables can cause drop outs, and bandwidth issues. A bad southbridge could probably cause that too. Also rare. I'd be for testing the crap out of the hard drive, via other applications.

I'm a USB3.0 dock for target and an external USB2.0 for the source material. It all goes over the same USB3.0 root hub. I never experienced this before with other discs. I guess, I just have to keep trying until I find the reason..

thx

Post your log and .ini files. There might be a clue there. Also try hdtune to test your hard drives. Ist it possible your hub is the issue?

Today's computers won't process something forever..the fact you're noticing movents indicating that. :D

If you're noticing movement, even the smallest amount, then make sure your cables and hardware are functioning fine. Also, if another Blu-ray rips fine and encode fine, check your hard drives file system (Windows XP and 7 have good built in checking), check the surface of the HDD. If there's a "read error" or a sector failing that can be part of "very slow data movement" as the drive tries to read "through" the corruption. These are possibilities without being there examining it. :D

omegaman7

RiotRay. Try a linear Read of the hard drive in question. That should eliminate a read/sector issue. Everest can do the job. Never used Hdtune.

Toy Story: I have 3 machines here. 1 I use as storage and Firefox, and my Son uses for Homework and games. No extra codecs are installed. Very stock Windows 7. Toy Story has the same "glitches" using that machine when I have BD-RB reencode Full Backup and no editing. Everything shows as rendered fine, except for playback in Standalone unit. I've tried BD-RE-DL and BD-R, same results for both. I had it output to Alternative movie only MKV, mkvmerge fails to finish. 2) I've checked my main system, which I'm using now, checked all connections...verified the HDDs are fine, RAM is good...everything is cooled so no overheating. I've removed all software, including AnyDVD, reset, made sure all lingering bits were removed. Reset. Then reinstalled.

I'm now wondering if it has to do with AnyDVD? Now I'm checking with some other movies. I may check with older versions of AnyDVD to see if a bug for introduced somewhere. 7.0.8.0 in use.

Anyone else have the movie and noticing these things at the times I've stated in recent previous posts? Thanks.

The first toy story, or the third one? I've been meaning to do all of them come to think of it :S

Something about me.. If I'd meant Toy Story 2 or 3 I'd gave typed that. :D Or edited my post upon noticing unclear info.

BD-RB was able to reencode my Toy Story to BD-9 before, but I now recall from there I made an MKV myself AND I didn't watch it completely after it was done. I meant to.

Since you have them, try the first one...erm, hehe...Toy Story (Original) and check those times I posted, please. Very interesting that my 3 machines render fine, and yet the exact same "jerky" flaw at the same times each time. The Burner is good, the disks are good.. A bug?

I checked the directory and notice the large files that make the movie. It's broken into a few chunks. Which explains why I can hear the BD player's optics moving to access them. Seems in the rebuild process that...they're not being connected "?cleanly?".. Hmm..

Jdobbs apparently didn't have a problem with that one. Perhaps a bad rip. I've had rips that play on the pc fine, other players fine, but when re-processed, $h!t hits the fan. Copy of a copy of a copy I guess...

Copy of a copy of a copy I guess... I did Toy Story with no issues, but that was a long time ago. It's possible something could have been introduced that causes problems -- but not probable. I'll go back an reencode to see how it comes out just to be sure.

omegaman7: When you take the "work" out of a job it goes much better in many ways. :)

I noticed something interesting. I ripped Toy Story again with AnyDVD 7.0.8.0 as an ISO instead of files in a directory. I then burned it to a BD DL...the the movie played smooth in the times I noted before. I checked it a few times; ejecting the disk and reinserting it...rewinding and playing.. I'm going to mount the image and have BD-RB 42.03 rebuilt the image and check that. Looks like AnyDVD Is the cause..

I always check both ways, program and standalone.

Update: Using Movie and Menus, I set FORCE_NOENCODE=1 and the output at the "jerky" video and audio. Now doing using the High Speed option with Movie and Menus. Next, if same output, I'll use Full Backup.

OS Windows 7 x64 Pro.

I have discovered that if the font size is set to 125% in personalization/make text easier to read (acsessed by right clicking the desktop and selecting personalization), that when BD Rebuilder completes a job the progress bars are stuck at about 80%, the progress does state 100% however. This gets worse if 150% is selected and the progress bars seem stuck at about 60%.

Just a minor cosmetic bug really.

Any idea when the full version will be released, the program is excellent and must be very near a stable version by now, I have used BDR for over 2 years and never had a serious problem, apart from 1 weird error message many versions ago.

I have noticed you get this behaviour if you copy the new version of BD Rebuilder over the old one, you need to completely delete the old version first, then put the new version in the directory (folder), this works for me, I get exactly the same error as you if I copy the new one over the old one. Hope that makes sense to you.

I always copy the new over the old, but I'm careful to make sure ALL files and folders in the new version replace their predecessors. I don't remember ever having a problem that resulted from that practice.

I use BD-RB from the Desktop, and once I confirm the contents are the same (Giggling at jdobbs for a moment), I then extract the archive replacing the older. Then I move the archive to an archival directory until no longer needed. There should not be a challenge with replacing the older files unless a program/directory are "locked" from being used in some way. I've never deleted the older files or directories first; if the system is functioning correctly with respect to updating, it'll go smooth.

When using the new "Import" feature, and subsequently fully processing, will a video be "uncropped" to restore the compliant resolution (by adding black boarders) if necessary, or simply vertically stretched?

I ran a cropped video recently. Clearly black borders were added in. It came out perfectly :)

hmmm, that's what I figured was SUPPOSED to happen, but for some reason I keep getting stretch video instead of borders . It's just import and process, right? No extra/hidden options? I'm sure I'm missing something...

But it isn't done during the import, it is done when processing the imported source. If you look in the BDMV/STREAM folder of the import (the pseudo-BD source) you'll see a file with the extension .ADJ. This holds any adjustments that needs to be made to the source. It is a text file and is made up of AVISYNTH functions (like AddBorders()).

Just noticed that the newest BD Rebuilder (0.42.03) seems not to process what I have selected to blank or not to blank in Edit Mode when I save it in a batch queue; the BLANKED variable seems to have the correct 1's and 0's for what I'm editing, but BD Rebuilder uses the default auto-selected streams instead. Normal 'non-batch' mode works fine, however; wonder if anyone else has this problem or not.

Hi Jdobbs,

How to properly process this unusual title (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120245/)?

Bd Rebuilder does not accept the inclusion of the line "--bff".

Bd Rebuilder does not accept the inclusion of the line "--bff" When, where, how? What makes you think that is the issue? I notice that the first pass completed successfully -- and it also would use the "--bff" parameter.

Just a reminder... I don't accept bug reports that don't use the recommended versions of the helper software.

It is difficult to harmonize the only software that I always use.

As I recall, I never had problems because of that.
But it can happen...

I figured it out. there is a conflict with the MULTIPROCESS option

my config had MULTIPROCESS=1 but once removed no problem. tried changing it to 2 but no luck

separate, unless the source is oversized or FORCE_ENCODE is used, it doesn't process

AmigaFuture
3rd October 2012, 04:42
abbandon: If things fail in any way...Disable MULTIPROCESS and go from there. :D Once okay, try MP. It's usually fine left active for most movies.

Jdobbs: Any news with Toy Story?

After it's done re-rendering here and rebuilding, I discovered if I click Backup again, it rebuilds shows a longer list of rebuilding text. I'll include logs if you like.

Yes, it is easy to solve the issue of Haali Splitter installing the recommended version, but RipBot requires a newer version of ffdshow.

Run inspect.executive from inside the bdrb folder and post the results. That kind of behaviour typically indicates something wrong with the helper aps

Error 00070 is "Permission Denied" -- you have a permissions issue with either the application or the folder where it is attempting to write.

I'd right-click on the files AFTEN.EXE and WAVI.EXE in the BD-RB tools folder and see if there is some rights issue against one of them.

Do you have BD-RB installed in the Program Files or the Program Files (x86) folders?

Windows 7 doesn't always play nice with BD-RB if you put it there.

there are no issues with running any program like BDRB or another in the program files. I do, well not if u disable that stupid UAC like i did. Thats one of the first things i do after a windows install.
