My guess is your problem started with CoreAVC. Still, either another codec pack is overriding the necessary BD-RB settings or your anti-virus software is the cause.
Anti-virus software seems to be the cause of many BD-RB problems for many people. Anti-virus = anti-productive!

What anti virus are you running?
The encode ran for 1:05 before stopping, maybe something external interfered.

Most likely it may be cpu, if its unstable this would occur.

I am running Norton, no virus detected but I have tried running the program with and without Norton on and I still get the same problem. Oh and I replaced both x264's offered by HWK and still the same problem. I don't what to do at this point.

Is your PC overclocked?
Is the problem with this particular source only? What if you try another source?

Is your PC overclocked?
I don't think so. I had a full diagnostic run done by Best Buy and it used to work on compressing but not anymore.

Hmmm... rest assured that x264 drives your CPU to the limits for hours more than diagnostic tools....
Anyway, try another source now and see if you still have the issue.

I am still having no luck. Thanks for your help everyone. I am going to just have to start burning full 50gb discs. It costs more, but compressing is obviously not going to work anymore. Again, Thanks.

Before you give up, can you create virtual machine and run encoding inside it. Since VM will be clean of any issues it would help a lot to see if it is something with OS, possibly at kernel level.

Virtual Machine did not work either. I give up, thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it.

You could rename the "BDREBUILDER.INI" file to something else, like putting an "!" as the first character. Then try running the program again. If you still notice challenges, rename or delete the BD_Rebuilder directory and extract again from the first page.
If you remove the BD Rebuilder directory, then uninstall the programs from the first page and reset your machine. Or shut down completely. Then start it again...and install everything from the instructions.
BestBuy isn't always the best at diagnosing... I've fixed programs they've created.

Anyway, unless you're really good with computers...I'd not suggest a Virtual Machine to test. Most people become even more confused when attempting to do so. Try those steps before quitting. Learning is fun...just remember to breathe and relax while doing so. :-)

There's really only a couple of things that could cause X264 to fail after a full minute. The most probable is a system instability, the second is a corrupt source.

Firstly, the x264 fails the instant it tries to reencode, not a minute. And my system is not unstable. I have good RAM, I even tested it, my hard drives are non-plattered, and as for the source, I have tried to compress 11 titles and all of them seem to fail once it comes time to reencode, so as I said before, I cannot figure out what the problem is, its obvious that this software no longer works for me, so thank you all for your efforts, goodbye.

Today I tried 45.05 on Silver Linings Playbook in Movie and Menus (Auto Blank Extras) and Edit Mode (Manual Blanking) both selected, and managed to blank the main movie. Turns out that I'd Previewed it and instead of playing the Multi-Ch Engish DTS track, the preview mplayer used the French track that had been de-selected, which threw me off and so I accidentally blanked it w/o looking more closely.

Later I look at the mplayer header where it shows MPC_VIEW.AVS which is this:

#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.45.05 (beta)
DirectshowSource("V:\BDMV\STREAM\00006.m2ts", fps=23.976, framecount=175671)
BicubicResize(480,270)
ConvertToYV12().AssumeFPS(24000,1001)

If I open and play 00006.m2ts (in the original disc) using BD-RB's mplayer it too plays the French track when I do that. But if I use instead my Media Player Classic - Home Cinema to open the file, it plays the English track as expected (though it "can't render file" if I try to open your .AVS file). Is this maybe an issue with the old media player you're using? I don't see anything in the .avs that determines audio track so am not sure why it should play this 2nd audiotrack the way it does.

BTW I am frequently confused when Previewing each of the VID_XXXXX which I always do, because when I right-click on each and select Preview This Item and the MPC_VIEW.AVS opens in Media Player Classic, the highlighting in the BD-RB window is lost until the Preview is closed and the BD-RB window is selected again. It would be nice if either the highlighting in the BD-RB window could be retained (i.e. stay blue-highlighted while mplayer is playing), or if the header of mpc player would show the VID number, so I know for sure which VID it is that I am previewing. I do typically get lost when Previewing and end-up re-playing some of the clips to be sure...

Unfortunately in viewing it just plays back whichever audio track happens to be first in the stream. Most of the time that's English -- but not always. The preview is really just to find help find which stream has what content and it doesn't do much else.

The highlighting acivity is controlled by the O/S rather than the app... And it likely is unhighlighted because it loses focus. I'll see if I can set the focus back just before making the call to MPC.

I can feel your frustration!
The only times I had x264 crash the way you are describing it's all about my overclocked CPU.
When I lower the clock frequency just a few notches all is well.
So if you havn't tried that give it a shot.

It's not overclocked! I have NO idea why this is happening, my RAM is fine, nothing new has been installed on my computer other than reinstalling the three programs required, the log is correct, I know what I'm doing, I just can't understand why it's doing this to me! I have no viruses, my disks are defragmented, my computer is not lagging and is running just fine, but on every single movie it does this, so what could it be??????

jdobbs, remember I mentioned about my Sony BR player not displaying the buttons on QP menus? Well, today I purchased a Samsung BD-F6500 standalone. I now have the opposite issue! The disc buttons come up, but no background. Clicking on the buttons return back to the menu and won't play anything! I've only tested one BD-R 25GB disc so far, but that works great in PDVD 13. Any thoughts or anyone else with this player who can test for me?

Currently you are using 32 bit of X.264, let try 64-bit since it decode video without relying on directshow.

Are your drives SSD's?

It's not overclocked! I have NO idea why this is happening, my RAM is fine, nothing new has been installed on my computer other than reinstalling the three programs required, the log is correct, I know what I'm doing, I just can't understand why it's doing this to me! I have no viruses, my disks are defragmented, my computer is not lagging and is running just fine, but on every single movie it does this, so what could it be??????

Have you actually monitored your CPU core temps, and/or visually inspected your CPU's heat-sink? My pc started balking during encodes recently, and then I noticed my CPU heatsink was almost totally clogged with dust--blowing it out fixed everything.

I don't think this is the cause of problem here. Since Crocluvr92 can encode extras from video just fine and as soon as it start main movie encode it crashes and according to Crocluvr92 it is happening on all movie title he has tried.

I wonder what would happen if he tried to encode ONLY the main title; movie-only mode? We might expect that it would crash immediately, based on his previous attempts, but it might be worth a try.

Do you have any codec packs, coreavc or any such things installed. I do not have other codecs, My drives are SSD's, I have tried all four versions x264 with replacing them in the Tools folder and they all fail as well. I also tried movie only and that fails too after reencode. It does this on my movies, not just one. My PC is cleaned out, I used compressed air, I even went to CompUSA today and bought some new Antec paste for my CPU and fan, I tried using my BluRay Source from the source folder from hard drive and from ISO format running on a Virtual Drive and still NOTHING works! Now do you all understand why I want to give up?

Good news. That makes me 3 for 3!

My next project is full 3D backup support...

My player is capable of playing flawlessly "Full 3D" content without any resize of the frames. Could you ensure a hidden option in the future (like Full_3D) to make Full 3D backup (not movie-only backups but with menus, extras) with "full sized frames" (without any resize of the frames)? I know it violates the BD specs, but it can surely be playable on the newest media tanks. And on top of it all, if I set the output to non-3D on my player I am sure that I can play flawlessly a Full 3D content disk in 2D mode as it were according to BD 3D specs (we discussed in the 3D discussion forum). This way "full detailed full disk 3D backups" could easily be produced using the power of x264. For sure such contents could only be played on certain players.

I would really appreaciate it.

SSDs are usually pretty small. You do have room for all of the extract, working files and rebuild? I would say you need 100GB free space to be comfortable.

Sorry, But I have no plans to create a BD disc that is not compliant. That's just asking for trouble. I do, however, plan to create a version that builds full resolution backups that ARE BD compliant.

You really need to look at overheating. I know you don't want it to be a system stability issue... but everything points that way. When it works for a while before it crashes with the same type of video source (as you logs show), that's far and away the most likely cause.

I didn't see in your posts if you've tried this or not, but have you run x264 by itself, without running BDRB? If so, what errors did it display, if any?

Another idea is to run a trial where x264 out of the loop. Set a custom target size of 50GB so no encoding will be necessary and see if the job completes correctly.

Crocluvr92, do you have another mechanical HDD to use and try? Whenever I'm diagnosing a computer issue (or any other issue) I find it's best to always strip everything down to the bare minimum and start from there and SLOWLY put one piece in at a time until you find what's causing the issue.

If I was in your situation this is what I'd do:

1. Make sure you're running at stock settings on your motherboard. This step isn't fully accurate as you still might have to do some fine tuning to keep it stable. For instance, when I built my new PC I couldn't run any CPU intensive tasks as the CPU vdroop was causing all sorts of freezing. I had to enable LLC at medium settings to offset vdroop enough just to run at stock as anything lower and my PC would freeze.
2. Get the SSD out of the equation and try a traditional mechanical HDD.
3. I don't know how much memory you're running but try using only one stick.

Regarding RAM, you stated that you tested it but you didn't state how you tested it or maybe I overlooked it. Did you use the newest Memtest (5.00 RC1) for your test? Also, when you tested your RAM did you test 1 stick at a time and run memtest for several hours doing multiple passes? I find that it's best to do 1 stick at a time so that you know for sure which stick is bad (if any).

Link to latest memtest versions:

http://www.memtest.org/download/beta/

BTW, I have my PC (AMD FX-8350) overclocked to 4.8GHz and can run BDRebuilder ALL DAY LONG without issues as well as other people so I think that it's probably hardware related. Now with that being said, my PC isn't 100% stable as I can't pass certain benchmarking tests but for everyday use I've never experience any issues. I'm currently running a disc through BDRebuilder as I type this.

P.S., Do what you want with the above info as I'm merely trying to help as diagnosing computer issues is never fun and is definitely time consuming.

One a side note, can you complete an entire run of x264 benchmark?

I have read through all the posts, guides and FAQ's and have seen similar issues with other discs and may have missed the fix. I cannot make a movie-only BD-25 backup of Thor. I only get an 8GB m2ts file in the Stream folder. I apologize if this has already been answered.

Hi, Jdobbs,

I'm experiencing the same issue as rendez2k, re: this post:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1654202#post1654202

I have 3 standalone players, and the titles on the menu show correctly only on one player, which happens to be the newest one I purchased back in June. On the other 2 players, I only see the menu background picture.jpg. However, on the latter 2 players, if I enter in a number for a title, e.g. 6, the player will start title 6. On this particular BD-R, I have 12 episodes of Carivale Season 1, that were ripped from 6 DVDs (2 episodes/disc) using anydvd.

These are my 3 bd players, with #1 being the player that works as expected:

1) Sony BDP-S3100
2) Panasonic DMP-BDT210
3) Sony BDP-BX57

Please let me know if you want any other info - I'm super excited about the ability to compile/merge DVDs like this; I've been wanting to do this for a long time, and haven't had success w/ other programs!!! Thanks, JDOBBS!!!

I'm having another issue when trying to backup my Disney/Pixar blu-ray collection.
This time it's with Brave. It's different from the bug I decribed in my unanswered post #18444.
The disc, Region B french release of "Brave" was ripped with AnyDVDHD 7.3.7.0 and the resulting iso image is playing fine.
BDRB processed the disc to the end reporting no issue whatsoever.
The resulting Blu-ray plays fine until it reaches almost the end. At this point, both on TMT 6 and my standalone player, it freezes for few seconds, then it resumes. The same bug a couple of minutes later, and then, flawessly to the end.
I notice that these bugs occurs at the junction of different m2ts parts of the disc.
Tryed to process again, but this time, just for test, I selected a BD50 target to avoid reencoding of video. The resulting Blu-ray issued the same bugs.
I join the .ini and the log

I recommend use tsmuxer to combine all files into one and use that for BD-RB. This will eliminate seamless branching from disc and see if it works for you.

1. Open mpls file in tsmuxer, not sure which one uses BDInfo to find out.
2. Choose output to Blu-ray folder with in tsmuxer.
3. Select blu-ray folder as a source for BD-RB.

Just a note, doing this will only backup movie only.

New version of tsmuxer handle it differently. Especially if it is True-HD track and since Brave does have True-HD, it might help in this case, that is why suggested try that and see how it goes.
