@dragonknight,
Strange.. this one encoded for me almost perfectly the first time as a full backup BD-9... looks like you're trying to do the same thing...
The only issue I had was the initial menu video looked extremely pixelated but I also tried to reencode the whole disk without the "Quicker Extra" switch turn off. To correct it I just reencoded again separately with the "Quicker Extra" switch turn on; I imported the menu video file (I believe it was m2ts.0001) over to my original re-encode and everything worked.
Other than that I had absolutely no problem reencoding this one Seems like a muxing problem.. are you using the tsmuxer that's in the BD-R or are you using a different version?
Again please let the team know your specs and settings... this BD should not give you a problem
Sorry, just noticed you're using windows 7 ... I'm using XP MCE.. so maybe there could be something there...

Just suggestions, process of elimination. Your specs are quite adequate to play back HD material.
If you open the corresponding .mpls playlist for the main movie that has async audio with tsMuxeR, highlight the audio streams you are keeping, do they show an audio delay?
I have backed up quite a few movies, not the ones you mention though, and have had only one with async audio ( Batman Begins ). I believe jdobbs has corrected the rare audio delay issue that some movies have.
However, if there is a negative audio delay present with the described detection method I just mentioned, I think tsMuxeR is not able to correct it. Negative delays, with my testing, are not properly corrected upon remux.
How would I open the bluray playlist for a full backup movie?
There is like over 25 playlists in the PLAYLIST folder. How would I know which one to open? Thank you for helping me.

Use BDInfo to tell you what .mpls corresponds to the .m2ts file/files.

Not a bug, but I am not so sure if setting cqmin=0 is a good choice. It seems to drive crf to unnecessary high values for 1-pass crf encodes for a given target size.

But it would undersize if not... which is where I was getting so many complaints. I can't think of any downside to a higher than needed value -- and it keeps the "why doesn't it fill my disc?" crowd off my back.

Well, after successfully reencoding angels and demons blu-ray to a 22.46 gb target size a few days ago, under windows 7 64 bit I can not get the program to use ffdshow with the drag me to hell UK bluray with the same settings and target size.
It keeps trying to load ffms2.dll apparantly because it cant find ffdshow. Ffdshow does not show up in the background. Yet, it had no problems loading ffdshow with angels and demons. And it still doesn't as I just tried reencoding angels and demons again.
I did encode drag me to hell letting it use ffms2.dll, it completed, but the audio/video sync was horribly out of whack, while angels and demons was perfect.
I've tried various settings with sharks win 7 codec pack with no luck, all the similiar mpeg/mkv file types play correctly with ffdshow.
Here is the log, I aborted it myself this time:

The more posts I read about the adventures of Windows 7, the more content I become with XP. :p
I know jdobbs has reported no problems, at least yet, with his upgrade, but there sure seems to be plenty that do not have this experience. :(
I continue to have no problems with my setup, so for this computer that does my BD backups, it will stay as is!! :)

Yah, it's hit or miss, never had any problems recently in vista. I'm sure it has to do with codec settings, which has been complicated by the fact that windows 7 wants its own taking over, but I don't think it will be too hard to fix. I'm just not smart enough to know how.

Can we always use the latest x264 from http://www.x264.nl/ or do we need to wait until BD Rebuilder is updated?
Just one final question, I am getting very familiar with all the settings now except "Color Boost 10%". What is your intention with this? What benefit will it bring to the final burn and how much does it slow the encode down to?
Thanks

Personally... I think most of the problems associated with BD-Rebuilder, regardless of OS, can be found right on the PC that is having the problems. Some people with their 20 different sets of codecs, pre-processing, post-processing, tweaks to the command line, downloaded movies, etc., etc., probably account for at least 90% of the issues falsely reported as bugs along with the obligatory... "It couldn't be anything I did!" There's a big difference between a bug and a "I screwed up" which we don't seem to se much of..
@Capsbackup... I'm with you on using XP on my dedicated BD-Rebuilder PC for now, only because it works flawlessly. For everything else, Win 7 is the way to go.

Hi,
the last version i have been trying was 1809 and that version worked flawless (movie only to dvd5).
Yesterday i tried the new version 0.31.01 and the output (movie only, strict avhcd) is not useable on a ps3. Audio is out of sync about 1 minute at the second chapter and the video played a litte jerky as if there were the pulldown flags missing in the stream. The audio goes further out of sync the further the movie goes on...
The movie was BSG_THE_PLAN.
There were no errors in the log.
I'm using XP Professional.
So i wanted to try the old Version again and it said: this beta is expiered.
Thanks for that great programm anyway. Hope this problem can be resolved.

Thanks, I see your point. In practice I think the undersizing is perhaps more of an issue for 2-pass encodes. No problem, I can always tweak the command line with --cqmin 10 if I want to change it.

ThanksNone, really. Early on I thought I was seeing color washout when I ran backups -- so I added that option. But I'm pretty sure it was my imagination. I'll probably eventually remove it.

This program is a beta and right now exists for only one reason: bug testing. It doesn't do any good for anyone to debug a version that is 9 months old and 37 revisions ago (yep, I counted 'em)... you are expressing exactly why I put the expiration in.
Some details might help if you'd like to see it fixed. Region, type of audio, type of video, maybe posting the INF and/or INI files, the log, the AVS file of the out-of-sync audio, or maybe the .meta file? I like to thing I'm good -- but I can't fix things by putting my hands on a monitor and shouting "HEAL!".
But thanks for your great bug report anyway.

BD-RB v0.31.01, Movie NCFM, Movie only, 2 x audio AC3 448, 1-pass crf, no resize, strict avchd, BD5:
=> Audio lags video by about 1 sec for both audio tracks.
Extracting the audio with eac3to from the original disc reports no delay for the LPCM track (eng), and a delay of 1001 ms for the ac3 tracks.
BD-RB selects the LPCM track as first audio (eng) and one of the ac3 tracks as second audio.
Any suggestion?I'll pick that one up. There has to be something weird about it (or the way I'm reading it).

Try installing Ripbot. When I had Windows 7 BD RB problems, installing that program fixed everything and configured ffdshow for me.

Hi,
Thank you very much for your app, it is very helpful.
For days now I am trying to get this to work on Windows XP 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit.
I tried to convert various Blu-Rays. Sadly, I always get this error message:

I do not have any problems with this program on Windows 7 32-bit and Windows XP 32-bit.
I installed the progran the same way each time. I only changed the x264.exe file on the 64-bit systems as I should.
Is there a solution to this problem?
Thank you in advance.

I'll pick that one up. There has to be something weird about it (or the way I'm reading it).
I got it right in perfect sync by doing it manually:
- Index the .m2ts with DGAVCIndexNV
- Extract audio and sups with eac3to (extracts the tracks one by one), and convert audio to ac3 448.
- encode video with x264
- mux video and audio with tsmuxer (timeshift=0)
No idea what was key to the success: DGindex or eac3to.
(Just to exclude any previous mistake I did everything again with BD-RB, but again it was out of sync).

With all the horsecrap I'm seeing reported related to sync, there has to be a pony in there somewhere. :) The scary thing seems to be the fact that in at least on some of the reports the sync issues goes away when Windows 7 does... which means it could be CODEC related and not an issue with BD-RB at all.
I wish there was a single place that clearly says exactly what needs to be set (and why) in order for Windows 7 to use the FFDSHOW codecs. I can build the changes in -- but I don't want to just make them on faith without knowing what the consequences are. There are too many people doing that already, like Microsoft, for instance, when they made the Directshow changes for this release!

Just to spare you some time:
64bit version of x264 requires 64bit version of avisynth - otherwise it won't work.
So either keep x264 (32bit) with standard 32bit AviSynth or don't treat it as a problem.
I did a lot of tests last week and despite all the efforts I wasn't able to make 64bit x264 to work with some 'patched' 64bit avisynth dlls or whatever.
The same .avs script passed to 32bit x264 works perfectly but not with 64bit x264.

If the reports I've read of typical 10% speed increases are true, it hardly seems worth it. When you're talking about the difference between a 5 hour encode and a 4.5 hour encode... I'm not sure it's that big a deal?
Have you seen any tests that show performance diffs with X264's 32 and 64 bit versions?

I gave the same answer to people who asked me about 64bit support. It is too much trouble to get both 64bit x264 and 64bit avisynth working together (if possible at all at the moment) and the speed gain (if any) would be negligible.
So may be it is worth mentioning it somewhere in the first post - just stick with 32bit versions of both applications or just warn users (again) not to change the tools provided in the distribution of BD-RB.

Hi jdobbs!
I just did Pink Panther (from 1963), region A, full backup using v31.01 to BD-9 (8150MB custom). Everything else basically default.
The menu videos lacked the "button text" to launch the disc. The m2ts vid numbers in question are 00012 & 00013.
I substituted the original vids & clpi's into the rebuild & the disc now functions. Unfortunately, that put me about 50MB over a BD-9, so I'm rerunning the job with a little more headroom. Let me know if you need any more info than that.
Also, did you get my earlier report about the OOS Casablanca extras where you fixed two of the four, but not all four?
See ya!

Hi
thanks to jdobbs for the wonderful proggie! I am from Germany We have 25 fps for the video and the aften.exe 8or whatever) is doing 24 fps for audio. So its async..
I worked around with the the ac3 file in the workfiles folder hoppen to reencode eac3to and multiplexing with mkvtoolnix. It didnt work. Is there a way so my programming is poor to very bad and my software trying is at its end. I have no further ideas.

I'm thinking it may be FFMS2.DLL that's causing many of these sync problems. I notice from your post that it has been used. What I don't understand is why it is even being called on your system? Do you have FFDSHOW and HAALI installed per the first post of this thread? FFMS2.DLL was only put there to cover some issues in Windows 7.
I think I'm going to pull it out in the next version of BD Rebuilder. It's more trouble than it's worth. I've already added some checks for FFDSHOW and HAALI.

I'm performing a single pass encode using CRF movie only mode at High Quality with normal priority squeezing the output to a BD-9. The rebuild is taking place on a 2 Ghz dual core 64bit Intel processor with 4 Gigs of RAM and a Geforce 9600M GT video card (chipset I guess since this is a laptop). I've selected x264 as the actual encoder. I'm getting a whopping 3 fps during the encode. Is this typical? If not, what can I do to speed this up? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Smabbage, this s typical - x264 for HD resolutions is very demanding but provides great results
@ hoffes
24 is fine for BD in Germany - check your input with tsmuxer

I want to express my gratitude for this program,It is great, all my backups have been great.I only do main movie, cut all out with tsmuxer first, keep hd audio.I never cut the movie down more than .5 and keep hd audio, then run it through eac3to and change it to mkv/flac.Then on to mkvtoolnix.Done this about 12 times not one problemThanks!

The current way of using x264 x64 with avs2yuv is actually slower overall then x86 x264 in 2 pass mode unless x86 is used for first pass and x64 for second pass on high/highest quality settings. The only time it might be a little faster is with CRF using high or highest setting even then you'll be lucky to see 10%, usually 5% or less. If coreavc 2 comes with a workable x64 haali media splitter so the whole process is x64 it could be much more significant speed increase.
Something that's always been faster in my tests is DGNV tools. With 1080p it's normally 10-15% faster then the fastest ffdshow decoder. When using nvidia's resize to 720p I saw up to 70% speed increase over lanczosresize+ffdshow. It also has a very fast single/double rate deinterlacer that outputs great quality. The only bad part about it is it needs nvidia 8 series or newer video card and it's not free although reasonably priced.

Hello everyone,
First post to this forum. First, I wish to thank jdobbs for his programming genius. Great work!
Not sure if this a bug but this seems to be the place all the experts gather and it is the best place for solutions to problems.
My computer:
AMD Phenom II Tri-core CPU with 4 gig memory running WinXP x64 service pack 2. Installed RD-RB with associated programs required as per jdobbs instructions.
Blu-ray Player:
Panasonic DMP-BD35
What I have tried:
First success with RD-RB ver. .29 Monsters vs. Aliens Region A. Ripped with AnyDVD HD. Shrunk to BD-25 as Full Backup, Quick Encode on, High Speed BD-25, Do not convert DTS on, Do not re-encode AC3 on, Keep HD Audio on. Plays perfectly on BD player.
Problem:
Ripped Groundhog Day Region A with AnyDVD HD. Used RD-RB ver. .31.01 to shrink to BD-25 as full backup.

Everything seemed to work great as shown above. Burned to RB-RE. Plays Sony Pictures credit then hangs and stays at Black screen. Movie plays perfect on computer with PowerDVD 9.
I have read elsewhere that could be problems with Panasonic. I don't have 24p issue as it is turned off (can't even turn it on actually). But jdobbs states that BD-25 should run on all players. What is different from my success with Monsters vs. Aliens to the failure of Groundhog Day. I find that weird. All BD not created equal? All transcoding not created equal?
So I am hoping that there is a solution. I am happy to answer any questions for information that I may have forgotten to mention.
Thanks,
Moviewatcher666
NOTE: Just for s**ts and giggles, I copied the CLIPINF and PLAYLIST files from the original rip and placing into the transcoded folder and burned again. This time Groundhog Day played the Sony Pictures credit then paused where it should have played the Blu-ray advertisment and then went right to the menu. But now no videos will play when selected from the menu. The screen just goes off for a few seconds then comes back to the menu. So maybe there is something not quite right in the rebuilding of the BD menu structure that the Panasonic does not quite like.
jdobbs...does this bear further investigation? I am happy to offer whatever services I can with my Panasonic player.
Thanks!

hi jdobbs, i had a problem with some blurays, i had batch encode option on, and some of the backups (full backup to bd25) doesnt plays on my ps3 or sony s360 bluray player, says unvalid disc, but i tried again those discs without batch encode to figure out if that was the problem and every disc worked perfect on both players, did i miss something?

In fact, all batch does is load the options and then call the same code.

Thanks DK and Dark Shikari, I was just curious. I knew the process was quite intense and put a huge load on the CPU but wasn't expecting that much. I would have expected say 10 or 15 fps, not 3. :) At any rate, great job jdobbs and company! Love the results.

Please pull it out, as it appears sometimes even with Vista 64 Bit for some undiscovered reasons, and it can be very much just as you indicated, "It's more trouble than it's worth." That is definitely why I am very hesitant to go with Win7, as I don't want that FFM2.DLL suddenly appearing anymore that it has already.
My humble thanks for all your efforts.
