@jdobbs
New version still gives error on muxing imported DVD titles with DTS audio. Hmm... I thought I'd found it, but never did pickup a DVD with DTS for verifying it. You'd think that with the bookshelves full of DVDs I have it wouldn't be that hard. I guess I'll have to give it some more attention.

If you need more information or want me to do any testing let me know. Seems you have a drought of DTS audio DVD's while I have a flood.:)

Preliminary reports, more info available if needed.
0.43.01 (DGDecNV): UK version of Farscape Season 1 Disc 1: Movie-only backup: source split into several m2ts files: audio sync clearly off by the start of 2nd episode. Nothing about errors or problems in .LOG or .INF. Re-running the job now on 0.43.04.
0.43.04 (DGDecNV): Japanimation title Durarara, Disc 1: Movie-only backup: source split into several m2ts files: english subtitles disappear in the middle of episode 2. Nothing about errors or problems in .LOG or .INF. Re-running the job now on a different PC to see if my dual-Xeon is playing silly buggers again.
edit: Finished encode on another PC of Durarara disc 1. Subs disappear at the same point in episode 2. I also played the .m2ts on the latest MPC-HC and get this, it crashes at the point where PowerDVD and TMT stop displaying subs.
update: Farscape Season 1 Disc 1 Movie-only backup on 0.43.04: audio sync still clearly off by the beginning of episode 2. Nothing to denote a problem in .LOG or .INF.

Thanks for the new release :)
No change for angle detection ? I've tested it on every source I can find with angles -- and it works correctly for me. If you can point out an example of where it works incorrectly on a disc that is available in the US I'll be happy to pick it up.

I can't send you playlist files of the original bluray ? Is it necessary to have full disc to test angle detection ?

I hate to do this after posting v0.43.03.......
- Corrected an issue in which import of DVD PGCs
that have cells out-of-order are not assembled
into the pseudo BD M2TS correctly.
I experienced a Run-time Error '6' Overflow when attempting too import the DVD: The Bridge on the River Kwai which I believe has the issue you corrected above. The log is as follows:

The first import was directly from the DVD through anydvd and the second was from files ripped from the hard drive. PC is windows 7 x64.

why ffdshow x64 doesnt work with VC1 but it works with h264?

why ffdshow x64 doesnt work with VC1 but it works with h264? I don't see the connection to this thread. Please stay on topic. That question would be better suited to an FFDSHOW forum. By the way, I only accept BD-RB bug reports when the helper apps versions listed in the first post of this thread are in use (which would be the 32 bit version of FFDSHOW, r4422). Using other versions may or may not work correctly.

yeah, I always use the 32b version of ffdshow, but Ive made a fresh install of win7 in my second rig and tried ffdshow x64 and it worked better decoding some vids, so I just wanted to know if the problem with decoding VC1 for bdrebuilder was related to ffdshow x64 or the way bdrebuilder receives the data from ffdshow x64. Sorry, I know its not a bug, just being curious.

Sorry, I know its not a bug, just being curious. It's probably because the driver for decoding wmv (VC-1) was written by MS and is 32 bit. I can't imagine why ffdshow x64 "worked better decoding some vids" since it is essentially the same code, just compiled differently.

Trying to create an alternate output as MKV with 1280x720 with DTS-core, but not having any success. Is there a way to do this?
I only see option for 1920x1080 MKV with intact audio.

I only see option for 1920x1080 MKV with intact audio. You can create your own output parameters just by editing the ALTERNATE.TXT file located in the MISC folder under the installation path. But, if you choose intact audio and you do not have "KEEP_HD_AUDIO=1" set (a hidden option), you will get the core. The default is core-only.
Frankly, though, I recommend reencoding to AC3 at 640Kbs. It is smaller than DTS and Dolby's double-blind tests show that at that bitrate it is indistinguishable from the original.

Thanks, I did not know about alternate.txt
I added the needed options.
I agree about the AC3 as I have also read that blind test between lossless and 640 DD or DTS 1.5 are indistinguishable. However, I think some people say they can hear difference of 640 DD vs DTS 1.5 but I think I read that its just because DTS opens up the low end some more to give it more boomy sound.
I also read that at 16000 bitrate is sweet spot for where video becomes indistinguishable. Course, I use a CRF mode at 17 or 18 so bitrate settings in alternate are meaningless.
Going to be viewing these on a WD Live Plus media player and I believe they have a maximum video bitrate, but not sure what specs are.
I also not sure my eyes would notice difference from 1080p or 720p and I believe I read that 720p really is not so much about file size then it is about bitrate so it might be a better suited choice for my WD Live.
Would you say that its safe to auto crop black borders on all content?

Bumped into a peculiar issue, this time on a Full Backup (0.43.04) of The Imposter (UK import). Once you've selected Play movie in Main menu, the distributor logo is shown, but instead of 4 seconds it stays on-screen for a full minute. It's then followed by a studio logo and the movie which plays without problems. I'll post log, inf and MediaInfo data a bit later.
Wow, this is pretty weird. MPC-HC reports the distributor logo has a running time of 29 seconds. However, MPC-HC plays only the first 4 seconds of it, exactly like it would play on the original Blu-ray, then skips to the end of the file. Windows meanwhile says the .m2ts has a length of 00:01:00. Here's the MediaInfo of the original file:

I wouldn't do that. That feature is unpredictable. You'll get mixed results. That's certainly been my experience with it.
And my player doesn't display video properly (depending on the aspect ratio), when the black has been removed.

Update on Farscape S1D1 (UK edition): audio sync is fine in the Full Backup. This applies to both single episodes and Play All menu selections. Odd, how doing a movie-only backup using the same Play All playlist results in audio sync slipping.

Odd, how doing a movie-only backup using the same Play All playlist results in audio sync slipping. You sure seem to have a lot of problems. I'm doing 4-5 discs a day in testing and never run into any of these issues. Are you sure you are configured correctly with the versions I posted?

Yeah, some people do say they hear a difference. But people also say they see bigfoot. I believe in science and engineering -- and the people who say they hear a difference would fail in the double-blind.
There can't be a fixed bitrate for video that means anything. It all depends on the complexity of the source.
I think the autocrop plugin is a little buggy...

Yeah. I guess that's why I do bug hunting for a living; I'm a bug-magnet.
Are you sure you are configured correctly with the versions I posted?
Yup. Ran Inspect on all three PCs to make sure only yesterday. Nothing but OKs and I use only the versions posted on page 1.

@HatchetMan
1. Is it only that disc, or are others failing as well?
2. Are you overclocked? Generally when X264 fails that's the issue. Try slowing down and see if it completes.
3. If you aren't overclocked, try opening VID_00001.AVS with MPC (included in the tools folder) and see if it plays.
4. Try reinstalling FFDSHOW, AVISYNTH, and HAALI, sometimes other apps overwrite them or intercept them.
5. Have you tried using DirectShowSource() instead of LAVF?

1. Consistently, this title and Green Lantern. I have re-ripped them both several times.
2. Have never overclocked this AMD 1100T
3. It was in batch mode and got overwritten, I'll try it again with it as my last queued item so I can play it back.
4. Worth trying too, although I have not installed anything else, not even LAV, but Handbrake is installed and handled the files A-OK. BTW, is it OK to have LAV installed on a machine running BD-RB, conflicts? I have LAV on my HTPC and have grown fond of it :)
5. Yes. I dunno, I have never received these errors with folder or iso outputs, but mkv seems to be another story...
6. Thanks!

6. Thanks!LAV should have no impact that I can imagine. The LAVF decoding that is used by X264 is actually internal to that program (linked in during the build), so it shouldn't be affected.

I thought interlaced 29.97fps was BD compliant, but perhaps the field order is incorrect, recorded and reported as TFF.
Is there a way, with BD-RB, to only change the field order to BFF, but keep the content interlaced?
If not, can I change the field order and deinterlace to make this a watchable recording? ( I can do this with MeGui :o )

Finally had time to test Gunslinger Girl S2 D1 on 0.43.04. Previous versions of BD-RB created backups with out-of-sync audio. On 0.43.04, movie-only backup, audio was perfectly synced with image and subs, but for the first episode only. It was the same thing with Farscape S1D1 movie-only backup.
Since Farscape audio sync was spot on in a Full Backup, I'm now running a Full Backup of Gunslinger Girl S2 D1 to see if audio sync issues disappear.
update: audio sync is fine on the Full Backup of Gunslinger Girl S2 D1.

Hi!
1) If you load the captured .TS file into tsMuxeR, is it indicated by tsMuxeR to be 29.970 or 29.94?
2) If tsMuxeR shows it as 29.94, can tsMuxeR be used to change it to 29.970 (and, perhaps, changing it from.TS to .M2TS, if necessary)?

BD-RB gets the rate from the codes in the CLPI. There is no code for 29.94... There's a 59.94 -- but that is only 1280x720. When you are importing, BD-RB gets the frame rate from Mediainfo.

Anybody else using TMT?
I've got the problem, that the new quickplay feature produces movies, that not play under TMT. I've tested with TMT5 and 6.
It tries to load, the screen turns black and than the player hangs completely. I've to close TMT with taskmanager to get out.
Actually I had converted 2 movies using this quickplay feature and both do have this issue (White Lion, Magic Silver).

jdobbs, how does BD-RB extract and mux subtitles? I'm asking because of the last 7 titles I've done on v0.43.04, subtitles disappear in the middle of a title on 5 of them. I've managed to fix each one by extracting subs from the original with MeGUI (which uses eac3to) and re-muxing the subs + title with multiAVCHD.
All 5 titles are japanime discs (but so were the 2 that came out OK) which leads me to believe this is at least partly caused by how the original is put together in authoring. On the other hand, the original plays perfectly in PDVD11 while BD-RB output either A) simply loses the subtitles but plays fine otherwise or B) crashes PDVD11 and MPC-HC at the very same moment the subtitles are lost. I don't see anything out of the ordinary in .LOG or .INF files, either.

It uses TSMUXER for muxing and demuxing. It hasn't changed in that regard since the first release, so it couldn't be anything related to that release.

It uses TSMUXER for muxing and demuxing.
I thought it might. OK... so I could run TSMUXER as a stand-alone and see how it likes the playlists that came out from BD-RB with disappearing or crash-inducing subs.
When BD-RB calls TSMUXER during the muxing phase, does it enable insertSEI and contSPS for H.264 streams?
update: Whoa!
Step #1: Loaded a playlist from original in TSMUXER, disabled two unnecessary audio tracks (like I did on BD-RB run) and demuxed video, Dolby TrueHD audio and English subs to HDD without errors.
Step #2: Closed down and restarted TSMUXER, dropped in first video, then audio and finally subs. Remuxed to Blu-ray, again without errors. Output crashes both PowerDVD 11 and MPC-HC, at the same point as the earlier BD-RB output did. It's actually the very first subtitle bitmap of the .SUP which crashes both players.
Loaded the original demuxed English subs from step #1 into SubtitleEdit. I can scroll through and read all subtitle bitmaps, no corruptions or errors.
Opened the original playlist from step #1 in MPC-HC: movie plays with English subs, no crashing.
... OK, now it's getting weird. Opened the playlist from TSMUXER output in TSMUXER, demuxed the English subs and opened the .SUP in SubtitleEdit... and the file's fine. No errors or corruption. Huh?
Addendum: opened the original .SUP from step #1 in BDSup2Sub. The log reads:
#> 1 (00:00:17.643)
ERROR: PG missing at index 0x00011770
Detected 0 forced captions.
WARNING: missing end time of frame 1 -> fixed
Decoding frame 1/1 at offset 0x000001b4
BDSup2Sub reads only the first of 1333 subtitle images and renders on-screen only part of the image. The subtitle image is quite large as it's got one line of text at the top of the screen and another at the bottom of the screen. BDSup2Sub displays only the line at the bottom of the screen.
RESULT: demuxed English subs from the original with eac3to and opened the resulting .SUP in BDSup2Sub. It read all 1333 subtitle images instead of only the first one. In other words, it looks like TSMUXER messed up in step #1 by creating a somehow faulty .SUP.
More data: opened the eac3to-demuxed .SUP in SubtitleEdit. Duration for the first subtitle is slightly over 1 second. Opened the TSMUXER-demuxed .SUP and the duration of the first subtitle is 20+ seconds and marked in red by SubtitleEdit.

The only trouble I have ever had with tsMuxeR has been related to subtitles (presumably corrupt in some way) and these have introduced a variety of problems that tsMuxeR fails to identify report to the user. I've thankfully managed to guess at "subtitle!" as the problem for the wierdness and have been right 100% of the time.

@steveg32
I'm running "Ice Age, Continental Drift" as a Quick-Play backup with ISO output right now. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Any way you can create a very short TS file that shows as 29.94fps and send it to me? From looking at the code, I can't see how it can happen unless the source is shown by MediaInfo as that rate...
