Using everything from the first page, I am only going to BD25 Are you positive? What version of AVISYNTH? What you are describing is exactly something that has been reported before when using AVISYNTH v2.58 instead of v2.57.

... yesterday I tried for the first time a full backup to BD-9 everything was fully completed and burned to the disc (verbatim +9) but when I inserted the disc in my Panasonic DMP-BD30 blu ray the player said format was not support it or incompatible

i have made a similar experience the other day:

before i have made MOVIE only backups for BD9 and they all worked fine on a Samsung 1600 but now the first FULL movie backup did not play.

I tried burning the rebuilder output with different subfolders/structures but to no avail - none of them did play.

then, however, i used deank's wonderful multiAVCHD, imported the rebuilder output, did NOT use the "strict avchd" setting but let multiavchd output as avchd compliant material.

i was more than pleased and surprised to find that the rewritten material now burned to dvd-dl in the same way as i tried with the original rb output before DID play just fine.

maybe you might want to give multiAVCHD a try as well!?

Well... it has this 're-author' mode (which keeps the original disc menu and all and is something different than the normal author mode with the menu-generation thing) feature which DK probably used... It allows the user to do some tweaks like adding/removing/replacing/blanking subtitles/audio/playlists or complete transcoding of movie/feature (except for branched discs and pip features)...

And it allows to import full-bd and 'convert' it to AVCHD compliant format (structure-like / ExtData) with or without transcoding/shrinking... Probably it is what made his player accept the disc. Panasonic BDPs (and Samsungs as it seems) are such a pain!

DK
15th February 2010, 17:08
that is exactly what i did, deank and i must say thank you again to all you people creating and providing great pieces of software like bd rb, x264 or multiavchd!

if anyone of you might tell me where to look for differences between the two output structures i would be glad to post them here if it may be of any help.

The difference is in all .clpi, .mpls files and index.bdmv. Still BD-Rebuilder's goal is to output blu-ray format for full-backups... Since some players won't like Blu-ray on DVD multiAVCHD can come in hand sometimes.

I have tested MultiAVCHD in Re-author mode on a few BD-RB full backups to BD-25, removing the warnings and some unwanted clips before burning to BD-RE, and will admit it does work well, a positive experience, after a few that did not work, and broke the BD structure. I have not tried full movie backups to AVCHD/DVD media though.
However, there is this concern, which I'm quite sure jdobbs would agree with, that people will use MultiAVCHD before or after BD-RB, which could very likely introduce problems reported here as bugs, where people fail to mention about this "pre/post processing" with MultiAVCHD, causing a whole new "chasing down" bug reports! :devil:
IMHO, I am all for new methods and welcome them, but I do not believe that their testing and results of successes and failures should be discussed in this "Bug Reports" thread.
If someone so desires, start a new thread, but I don't think it's appropriate here, nor should jdobbs have to address these reports in his " Bug Reports" thread. :cool:

I agree with you and in my post dated Jan 8th in multiAVCHD's thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1361598#post1361598) I underlined:

multiAVCHD's re-author feature is in no way replacement of or can be compared to BD-Rebuilder's features and reliability, and is also not added with an idea for competition. It should be possible to use multiAVCHD re-authored output with BD-Rebuilder, but if you do and have problems state that you used a re-authored copy, but not the original (which would usually mean a problem within multiAVCHD, but not BD-Rebuilder).

I have had great success with BD Rebuilder in the past but just tried it today and the program won't even start. It gave me the error message "Run-time error '52' : Bad file name or number" straight away. Actually it gave me the same error on every builds I tried including the latest. Any idea what is wrong?

I have been using this program for some time now and iam very content with it. Only i had some issues on different machines with the installation of the program. This happens on both Windows XP and Windows 7 (32/64 bit).

Everytime i install everything Manual (FDDSHOW/Avisynth/Media splitter) i keep having issues with encoding a few BD movies to bd25. Its not with every movie but with a few. Usually the error is something like this:

- [17:57:05] Reencoding: VID_00000, Pass 1 of 2
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Reached retry limit. Aborting.
- FFDSHOW Revision: (3207)
[17:57:09] - Failed video encode, aborted

I always check the MPEG setting and VC1 setting as described in de installation manual. So that is also not the problem.

After some tryouts i eventually fixed the problem by installing AVCHDCoder following the installation manual completely in that program and then set the VC1 and MPEG in FDDSHOW correctly afterwards. Suddenly the movie did encode succesfully.

The funny part is when i install every program without AVCHDCoder exactly according to the installation manual of AVCHDCoder it still does not work. I really need to install AVCHDCoder and then install all the programs and then change the settings back, then it works.

I still had this issue with the latest built.

I still had this issue with the latest built.You have to follow directions. I can see from your log that you're using the wrong version of FFDSHOW. I don't know how many times I have to repeat this... I've done it about 100 times already.

Sorry, I don't mean to single you out -- but this is really getting old.

That log was simply a copy from one a few posts back. i did not have an actual log cuz i was working at my laptop.

I just wanted to point out iam getting retries and then an abort. I can assure you iam using correct versions myself.... iam not such an idiot..... following instructions on a BETA is always important....

First of all, big thanks to JDobbs! Keep up the good work man. This program has been working great for me so far. I just had a quick question. Is there a huge quality difference between High Quality and Hi-Speed Option (BD-25)? I'm backing up BD-50 to BD-25. Should i be using BD-25 or custom size (23450)?

Suddenly, BD Rebuilder is outputting video at 1088 instead of 1080 for me. I've verified that I have the correct version of ffdshow installed, and I'm using v0.31.08 of BD_Rebuilder (but strangely, not always - some m2ts will be at 1080, some at 1088). This is again with Jewel of the Nile. I did verify that the bluray shows 1080 using MediaInfo, but the mkv files created show 1088 in most cases.... I'm going to try another BluRay and see if I get the same issue, but in the meantime....

Any idea what my problem might be?
Thanks

I asked JDobbs the same question a while back and he said high quality setting for BD-25 is overkill. He also mentioned that he personally used Good (faster) one pass ABR encoding for BD-25 encodes.

ThanksThe only way you could be getting 1088 is if the input was 1088. The most likely scenario I can think of that the input could be 1088 (from a legal original source -- no preprocessing!) is if the CODEC is causing it. The correct version of FFDSHOW, properly configured, should never do that. A guess might be that you've installed one of those "codec packs" and somehow FFDSHOW isn't really what is being used for you.

Thanks man. So is the good (faster) setting faster than the hi speed option (BD-25)?

And is the custom better than the bd-25 setting?

Thanks man. So is the good (faster) setting faster than the hi speed option (BD-25)?

And is the custom better than the bd-25 setting?No. The Hi-Speed option is pretty much the fastest you can get with X264 while remaining BD compliant... in most cases it is fine for a BD-25. The setting I recommended (GOOD/ABR) is what I believe to be a good balance of speed and quality that can be used with confidence for all BD-25 encodes. For BD-9/5 encodes -- I would always recommend "High Quality". It takes a long time -- but when you're compressing that much you need to use X264's best bells-and-whistles.

jdobbs, first off - great program. I ran into my first problem that I've been unable to get around, It has to do with a BD Season type disk, Weeds Season 4 to be exact. I do a full disk backup to BD25 from a 48GB source (the disks contain 8 episodes). Everything runs normally and I create the disk in imgburn with no errors anywhere along the way from rencode to final disk. Problem becomes that the disk plays fine in a software player but in my Panasonic BD55 evrything works fine through the menu selection, the episode starts with the DTS HD spashscreen all the way through and then it freezes -right where the episode would start. To validate it was a good rip from AnyDVD, I burned an unprocessed full image to BD50 (it plays fine on the player) then use that for the source into BDRebuilder. Any ideas for what I could try to do differently? I upgraded from 3.1.06 to 3.1.08 - no change

I actually use high-quality for ALL my encodes...with today's fast machines, it is usually just an over-nighter...I only goto BD-25 as well.

Now highest quality....tried one...cancelled after 1.5 days LOL!!!

I use custom size of 23,675 for BD25 encodes - it is close to the max size of a 25 GB BD disc - but leaves room enough for any oversized output that might happen - I am not an expert - but this has worked for me w/o problem so far (50 encodes at least) - As far as the speed setting - someone else has to answer that question - I always use one pass option - good picture IMO.

Thanks jdobbs for a great programCan't say for sure, but my guess is that it has something to do with dvdfab, because I used AnyDVD and did all three of those titles with no issues whatsoever... AnyDVD is very definitely worth what you pay for it. Hundreds of reencodes, zero issues. Of course it could also be a difference between your player and mine -- but that just doesn't seem to be the most likely cause.

Do you think you could download the trial version of AnyDVD, give it a try, and let me know if the same thing happens? It would be good to know.

This on Win7 x64 and BD-RE v0.31.08.

Tried to re-encode In The Loop (UK). First 15 titles (from VID_0000 to VID_00014) were no problem for x264.exe. They contained video encoded as MPEG-2/576i/25fps, AVC/576i/25fps and AVC/1080p/23.98fps. VID_00015 is AVC/1080i/25fps and crashes x264.exe constantly.

I realise this is not BD-RE's fault but figured it won't hurt to let jdobbs know about it.

I did surrogates with no problems, I did have a problem with gamer playing in the PS3, I finally figured out it was BD-Live, I re-ripped the BD-Rebuilder output of Gamer and removed BD-Live, re-burned it and it plays fine now. Not sure if this would work for you. I also used AnyDVD HD to rip it.

Please post your log. Also, what versions of FFDSHOW, AVISYNTH, and HAALI are you using? Also, are you overclocked? You're not using 64 bit versions of any of the support software are you? That has a history of issues.

BTW, not a one-to-one but I did the US version of "In the Loop" with no problems.

hi

can you help me ? Sounds like you're not using the latest version. It's not only disabled -- it no longer exists. You force subtitles by right clicking on the one you want to enable in the STREAMS list. Please note that it only works when you are using movie-only mode.

Hello,

i have a question and a little problem.

First thanks for BD_Rebuilder.
It's a great program and the quality is amazing :)
I've encoded a lot of BD's and all of them are fine.

A few days ago i had problems with 2 Discs.
One Disc was Batman Returns and the other was Urban Legends.

I've used BD-RB 31.06 (Updated today to 31.08)

Here my settings:
[Options]
MODE=0
QUICK_EXTRAS=1
PRIORITY_CLASS=0
RESIZE=0
AUDIO_TO_KEEP=deu;
SUBS_TO_KEEP=deu;
TRELLIS=1
COLOR_BOOST=0
RESIZE_1080=0
DTS_REENCODE=0
AC3_REENCODE=0
AC3_640=1
KEEP_HD_AUDIO=1
AVCHD=0
AUDIO_TRACK_LIMIT=0
SUBTITLE_TRACK_LIMIT=0
CUSTOM_TARGET_SIZE=24100
ENCODE_QUALITY=0
TARGET_SIZE=24100
AUTO_BURN=0
VERBOSE_STATUS=1
REMOVE_WORKFILES=1
SD_CONVERT=0
ONEPASS_ENCODING=2

At both Discs i get the same error.
This one is from Urban Legends

[16:51:33] Reencoding audio tracks (if req'd)
- ERROR in attempt to reencode audio (AFTEN) [AUD_00168__4352.WAV]
[16:51:34] - Failed to reencode audio, aborted

Dont know what it is, all other Discs works fine.
I've checked the Files.It was a Trailer.

To solve this problem i've changed the mt2s File.
I removed the Trailer m2ts File and inserted a litte m2ts File from the beginning of the Disc. Renamed it correctly and the encoding works fine.

Played the encoded Disc from HDD with a Software Player and instead of the Trailer the player plays the File i've inserted.
All is fine.

Can i do this with every Bluray Disc?
Remove Warnings and other crap, replace it with short Blackscreen m2ts Files, rename it like the original ones and encode the Disc?

I want to keep the Menu and Extras, but i want to remove warnings and logos..-

I'll pick up "Urban Legends" and see if I can repeat the issue.

So if i burn Urban Legends now, the PS3 has a problem to play it, or should it work fine?

Do you have a tutorial for creating CLPI and MPLS File?

Do you have a tutorial for creating CLPI and MPLS File? It's not really "tutorial" kind of material.

It may work... it all depends. I'd try a rewritable first.

My Sony PS3 dont like Sony BD-RE Discs :devil:

Could the encoding problem be a problem of ripping with DVDFab?

I rip the Urban Disc again right now with the Red Fox and try to encode again with 31.08

Let's see what happens...

Another little question.
I've encoded all my Discs with High Quality (Default) and 2pass.
It takes about 6-12 Hours. (Length of the movie)

I've read that you say that you encode at Good and 1pass ABR.
Tested it and BD-RB says it takes round about 2 Hours, for all the extras and the Main Movie.

Is there a big Quality difference between High Quality 2pass and Good 1pass?

The time saving is very well.

The time saving is very well. Not a noticable difference from the original when backing-up to BD-25 -- the bitrate is pretty high. There may be an exception out there somewhere (something with a huge amount of content) -- but I haven't found one yet.

Ripped with AnyDVDHD and encoding with 31.08.

So it was a problem of 31.06, but i don't believe. I think this was because ripping the Disc with DVDFab.

Please post your log. Also, what versions of FFDSHOW, AVISYNTH, and HAALI are you using? Also, are you overclocked? You're not using 64 bit versions of any of the support software are you? That has a history of issues.
FFDShow was 3111 but I've just noticed there's a link to a newer version in your first post, so I'm going to try that now. I did have the 64-bit version of FFDShow installed as well, but I uninstalled it now. Avisynth and Haali are the ones from your first post. Overclocked, yes, but rock solid, checked with various OC stability testing apps.

BTW, I re-started the encode job several times last night and told BD-RB to resume the job. After a couple of aborted runs, VID_00015 went through all of a sudden and the job resumed normally - until VID_00033 which was another 1080i/AVC/25fps title. I'll install the newer FFDShow and we'll see if that helps any.

Oops, spoke too soon. Pass 2 at 3.70%, and something went kablooie. x264.exe is taking a gig of memory but CPU usage is 0%. I killed the x264 process manually and the job is now resuming. I think I'll start the entire job from scratch.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to a new release of BD-RB (v0.32.01). The changes included in this release are:- Added an option to modify the audio stream that is
to be considered "default" for movie-only backups.
Normally that would be the first stream kept. Now
you can right click on any "kept" audio stream in
the streams list and select it as the default audio.
- Corrected an error in which the "FORCE_NEW_CHAPTERS"
option could result in incorrect output for BD-5/9
movie-only encodes.
- Added code to append ExtensionData() information to
AVCHD output (BD-5/9) movie-only encodes. This will
provide a greater compatibility of the movie-only
format across different player types/brands. Many
thanks to DeanK for his helpful insight into AVCHD
formats.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1442 w/nal-hrd patch).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

i haven't had issues with MOVIE only for ages, jdobbs

my last "problem" was FULL movie burned to DVD-DL, which did not work until i had multiavchd rewrite the rb output

of course i will report back as soon as i will have used this latest release for the first time no matter what the result may be

or would the latest version perhaps create slightly different material with FULL movie for BD9 so i should repeat the conversion which did not work last time? (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1374410&postcount=6903)

thanx for all your effort!
