View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

I know its not a bug in BD-Rebuilder thats causing the problems with my BD-P2500. I used the modified disc construction from avchd.leer.zip and the accompanying information provided in this post... http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1238871&postcount=10
It only works for a "Movie Only" copy, but it also works on my PS3, so I have something that's useable on both my players now. Maybe I'll add a "strict AVCHD format" option for movie-only. Can you show me what the directory structure looks like after you do the avchd.leer.zip thing? I took a (very) quick look at it, and I'm not seeing the differences between that an what TSMUXER outputs...

Something is wrong. Even on my really, really slow machine it only takes 18 hours or so...
I Thought It Was Supposed To Be Slow My System Goes About .55x On First Pass And On Second Pass It's Average .14x Soo... What Does That Mean The Problem Is Rebuilder Or The Codecs\x264 Encoder???
And Again :thanks:For All The Hard Work.

It appears that the AVCHD structure that is provided by avchd_leer.zip is that it places the AVCHD folder in the root, and the BDMV folder in a subdirectory of AVCHD. I also used the provided index and MovieObject directly from avchd_leer as there appears to be some difference than those created by BD-Rebuilder. It doesn't use the CERTIFICATE folder at all. The basic structure is:
I_ROBOT_DISC
- AVCHD
------- BDMV
----------- BACKUP
----------- CLIPINFO
----------- PLAYLIST
----------- STREAM
----------- index.bdmv
----------- MovieObject.bdmv
It only takes a couple of minutes to copy the files to the new structure... I still need to try 5 or 6 movies to see if it really works or if it was a one movie fluke. On my first attempt I didn't replace the index.bdmv and MovieObject.bdmv files in the BACKUP folder and it still played. Apparently that folder isn't needed for a Movie Only disc... I'm just guessing about that. A batch file would likely make it quite easy to create the new structure.
I hope this helps some..

I think I have properly followed this avchd.leer.zip mods, and now the disk ejects even quicker with "Can not play...". Here is my structure:
G:\>dir /B /S
G:\AVCHD
G:\AVCHD\BDMV
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\CLIPINF
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\index.bdmv
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\MovieObject.bdmv
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\PLAYLIST
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\CLIPINF
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\index.bdmv
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\MovieObject.bdmv
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\CLIPINF\00000.clpi
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls
G:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts
I made this quick test disk by:
1) tsmuxer'd to bluray formatted directory of a short 1080p/AC3 clip (45 second long THX track)
2) ran BD-RD to encode.
3) copied results into unzipped avchd.leer.zip directory
4) burned folder to DVD with Imgburn using UDF 2.5
5) verified resultant disk with powerdvd
6) ...failed in BD-P2500 player
NOTE: My player has vers 2.4 firmware. I've not tried back leveling to 2.3 to see if it makes any difference.

I'm guessing that you did not add the AC3 audio when you loaded it in BD-RB...
Like the first screenshot below...
You need to double-click on the red X to be adding the audio stream... like the second screenshot below,,,

Someone on VideoHelp.com suggested the following:
"Jake802, I believe BD rebuilder defaults to 'Trellis algorithm' under Settings/Setup. Uncheck it and see if the coversion time improves drastically. 3 days is way toooo loooong."
I am wondering will this effect anything else in the program? Is it ok to do or not? Thanks!

Not All Blu Ray Players Will Play Burnt BD.. Eg. My Blu Ray Player Sharp BD-HP20X Will Play Burnt DVD Orig. DVD And Orig Blu-Ray Only AVCHD And Even Exact BD25 Duplicates Will Give Me An Incompatable Disc Error And Spit It Out.. Secondly Depending On Your Setup Settings BDRB Is Supposed To Be Slow I Have An Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 And On Highest Quality Settings I Wait About 48Hours For A Full Disc Backup.. High Definition \ High Quality Is Supposed To Take A Long Time And Won't Really Get Much Faster Then 16to24hours Until We Move Beyond Quad Core... As For The Skipping On The PS3 I Can't Answer That As I Don't Have One... Hope Some Of This Has Been Helpful....:helpful:
OK I dont think this is the case, because I did a simple TSMuxer Movie Copy of the Hulk and have no issues playing it on either the PS3 or the LG300 Blu-Ray Player. Which means I am doing something else wrong...Thanks though!

Just make sure you check the TrueHD stream, and as GaPony states, BD-RB will encode to AC3.

the truehd stream is checked and as i say i get audio when i play the m2ts stream on the pc, when i burn to disc there is no audio on ps3 or a mates sony player, if i load the m2ts in tsmuxer it reports 640kbps ac3 audio so bdrebuilder is converting the truehd to ac3.

Maybe I'll add a "strict AVCHD format" option for movie-only. Can you show me ...
This would be a nice addition. To do this, the final disk structure for Movie Only encode should be:
\BDMV
\BDMV\index.bdmv
\BDMV\MovieObject.bdmv
\BDMV\BACKUP
\BDMV\BACKUP\index.bdmv
\BDMV\BACKUP\MovieObject.bdmv
\BDMV\BACKUP\CLIPINF
\BDMV\BACKUP\CLIPINF\00001.clpi
\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST
\BDMV\BACKUP\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls
\BDMV\CLIPINF
\BDMV\CLIPINF\00001.clpi
\BDMV\PLAYLIST
\BDMV\PLAYLIST\00000.mpls
\BDMV\STREAM
\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts
Note that all the following empty directories have been removed.
\BDMV\AUXDATA
\BDMV\BACKUP\BDJO
\BDMV\BDJO
\BDMV\JAR
\BDMV\META
\CERTIFICATE
\CERTIFICATE\BACKUP
Yes, these directories can be deleted manually, post BD-DB processing, but that precludes having ImgBurn called automatically by BD-RB.
NOTE: Doing this enables SAMSUNG BD-P2500 player (f/w ver2.4) to recognize and play the disk.

This has been reported before, back on page 4 of this thread #68. It is an apparent issue with some players when selecting full backup. Movie only should not be a problem. Be patient, jdobbs is working on it. Compatibility with most AVCHD players is a time consuming process.

Hello,
Great job on this tool jdobbs! However, when I use the "Full backup" mode (to shrink the entire BD) it won't play in my Samsung BDP-1500 (w/ latest fireware). It "loads" then says "play" then displays "0000" (black screen). If I try pressing menu or play I get the good 'ol red slashed circle (prohibited op).
I've tried AVCHD patcher but it claims invalid format.
I haven't tried movie-only mode since tsMuxer works fine for this on my player.

ok i have sorted out my problems with RB and it is now working, i do have a question though, i left it for about 7 hours and it was on 54% when i left the house this morning, about 10hrs later it was still on 54% but the fps had dropped from 5 to 0.96..
the frames were going up but at a very slow rate. is this normal or is something wrong?
i am running pent4 3.2, 1gb of ram. i am backing up a 26.6gb movie to a 25gb BD
how long should this take?

Hello, this is my first post here. First off, I sincerely thank you Jdobbs for the hard work and dedication to your projects that make our lives a little easier.
I am not sure if this is a bug or something stupid that I did wrong. I have recently completed my first backup using this wonderful program. When I finished the backup, I tried playing in in my LG-BD300 on a Mitsubishi 60" WD-60735 1080p DLP Television and the picture was fine for a few seconds then pixelated for a few seconds and it alternates like this throughout the movie. There are also very noticeable horizontal patches throughout the picture. I did a full backup X264 encoder, in high quality mode to 25GB target size. I used Image Burn to burn the project. I followed all instructions to the letter when installing BD Rebuilder. Once again, I am not sure if this is a bug with something or me overlooking something, any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
The hardware that I am using is:
Intel Quad Core Extreme Editon QX6700 2.66 Overclocked to 3.75
Gskill 8GB F2-8500CL5D
DFI LP LTX48T2R Motherboard
5 WD Raptor 150's in Raid 6 as C: to a Seagate 1TB 32Mb Sata for movie files.
LG GGW-H20LK
I am using RiData 25GB 2X BD-RE and BD-R Media.

If the frames are still moving, then perhaps when you first saw it @ 54%, it was during the first pass, and now it just happens to be @ 54% of the second pass......
That's my suspicion at least. But that long of an encoding time is probably par for a single core P4 processor.

As I reported, I'm having a similar issue. I backed up Shining as "Movie Only". It played well in PS3 but did not played in Denon BD-3800. It appeared a black screen although the disk was recognized as BD and the audio is playing.

We found that removing the AUXDATA folder (inside the BDMV folder), before burning the disc with ImgBurn made "Movie Only" copies work with some other players, and they retained playability in the PS3. You don't have to reencode anything...just delete that one folder and burn.
This probably won't work if you have several smaller branching .m2ts files which make up the movie. The only luck I had with those movies was to pre-process them to combine them into a single file.
I hope this helps...

There seems to be an issue with 'My Best Friend's Girl'... It is a seamless branched BD and has been the only one that BD-RB hasn't been able to encode correctly for me.
I joined all the m2ts files together with TSSplitter, then remuxed with TSMuxer (also tried it with TSRemux) into Bluray format while stripping unwanted audio and PGS streams. And the output from either of those apps has played and looked flawless on my harddrive. BD-RB however seems unable to encode itcorrectly. There are multiple scenes where a blurry blotch appears for split seconds thru-out the BD-RB output (both from the HDD or from the BD-9). Also this title has been the only one that plays the subtitles in wrong sequence.
I've redone this movie several times and each time it has these problems 'after' encoding thru BD-RB... and at the same exact spots every time. So for whatever reason, this title is giving BD-RB fits.
Can't do it from the full Bluray rip because it has 25 2ts files making up the movie, thus gives me the multiple instances of FFDShow and Matroska, which leads to out of memory error.
Anyone else did this Bluray?
It's the only title that I haven't been successful on yet with BD-RB.

Version 0.18.02
I've posted a new version of BD Rebuilder in the first post of this thread. I think it corrects most of the issues reported in this thread. But... I made a LOT of changes, so there is a high likelihood that we may find something new. Please remember to post them only in this thread. Thanks.
Important note: This version requires AVISYNTH 2.57 or above. It will warn you and close itself it you don't have it installed.
Here are the changes made in this version:
January 20th, 2008 - v0.18.2
- PLEASE NOTE: Starting with this version, BD Rebuilder
REQUIRES AVISYNTH v2.57 or above. If you do not have it
installed, please download it from:
http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/Avisynth_257.exe
and install it. BD-RB will not work with older
versions of AVISYNTH.
- Improved command line settings used for QUICK encodes.
- Corrected error in QUICK encoding routine that
could result in oversizing (particularly on
series and extra discs).
- Corrected an error that could cause "Runtime Error 6"
when encoding audio.
- Added code to catch errors during audio reencoding.
- Added a checkbox in SETUP to make AC3 reencodes
default to 640Kbs rather than 448Kbs.
- Updated quality selection. There are now four levels
based on recommendations from Dark Shikari. Now uses
"ENCODE_QUALITY=" parameter in INI file.
- Added a warning/restriction when source path lengths
are too long (previously caused oversizing).
- Corrected an error that would cause "Runtime Error 9"
on certain discs with multiple story paths (angles).
- Completely rewrote the movie-only handling routines to
correct issues with certain multi-path/angle sources
that had huge numbers of components and could cause
BD-RB to crash with out-of-memory errors.
- Added code to correct the "snap" sound in WAV files
resulting from demuxing via TSMUXER.
- Added chapter calculation to movie-only mode. Now the
chapters will match those in the original playlist.
- Added the ability to select from alternate playlists.
This is especially useful for series discs and discs
with more than one version of a film. Note: You can
select only from playlists of least 15 mins.
- Added traps to catch muxing errors that could result
in "Runtime Error 76 - path not found".
- Corrected "Runtime Error 424".
- Fixed an error related to audio (especially LPCM) that
could cause errors in "ReencodeAudio()" routine.
- Fixed several issues in related to reecoding/keeping
audio streams that could result in the wrong type code
being set in the MPLS file. This could result in
silent playback.
- Made calculation changes to help prevent oversizing
under certain conditions when audio is kept intact.
- Added a SETUP option that makes what appears to be a
more strictly compliant output (AVCHD) for the movie-
only option.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Hi!
I am doing a Full backup with the new version 0.18.02 of Starship Troopers, german release.
My main movie (the video) is only approx 1m43s long. I checked the AVS file created, and in it lies the problem:
#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.18.2 (beta)
DirectshowSource("G:\BDMV\STREAM\00009.m2ts", fps=23.976, framecount=2473, audio=false)
ConvertToYV12()
Why is that?
Since the AVS scripts are overwritten when starting again, I also cannot change it myself.
When I remove the framecount parameter, the AVS plays with full length.

I discovered that DirectShowSource() was dropping at least one frame on each segment. That becomes very problematic and cause out-of-sync audio when a title might contain numerous segments (M2TSs) in movie-only (e.g. Ratatouille). The way to fix it is by setting it to the correct value in the AVS file.
Capture the screen and post it so I can see what you mean by "the main movie" -- also capture the screen with the menu down shown where you can select MPLS files.

Bd-Rebuilder selects an obscure mpeg2-Stream@480i with 1.50h length and 5GB size as main movie, but the main movie is 25GB and AVC (mpeg4) and 1080p. Unfortunately it's not possible to select the main movie manually. Is there a possibility to do main movie only for this disk?
Thanks

It is possible to select the main movie manually if you are using the latest version. The main-movie is selected by total size (in hours and minutes) -- there really is no other way to do it. Which version of BD-RB are you using?

Version 0.18.03
I just did another update to the first post of this thread. Here is an updated change list for v0.18.02/03:
January 20th, 2008 - v0.18.3
- Fixed an error in which empty folders that should be
removed in AVCHD mode were not being correctly removed.
January 20th, 2008 - v0.18.2
- PLEASE NOTE: Starting with this version, BD Rebuilder
REQUIRES AVISYNTH v2.57 or above. If you do not have it
installed, please download it from:
http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/Avisynth_257.exe
and install it. BD-RB will not work with older
versions of AVISYNTH.
- Improved command line settings used for QUICK encodes.
- Corrected error in QUICK encoding routine that
could result in oversizing (particularly on
series and extra discs).
- Corrected an error that could cause "Runtime Error 6"
when encoding audio.
- Added code to catch errors during audio reencoding.
- Added a checkbox in SETUP to make AC3 reencodes
default to 640Kbs rather than 448Kbs.
- Updated quality selection. There are now four levels
based on recommendations from Dark Shikari. Now uses
"ENCODE_QUALITY=" parameter in INI file.
- Added the ability to select from alternate playlists.

select only from playlists of least 15 mins.

Just encoded on 2 pass at high quality from a mkv converted to a Blu Ray disc with tsMuxerGUI. The audio is great but I am getting a double image.
The movie I am showing is different then what I encoded but looks the same.
My Blu Ray is a Sony s350

This is something that I have experienced. As Capsbackup wrote,
This can happen if the original source is not Blu-ray compliant 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
you have to make sure your source Blu-ray stream is compliant.
After reading thru many threads on different forums, I found out that the workarounds were either to re-encode adding borderss to any video streams that are not 720p or 1080p OR using BDedit + a hex editor to change the vertical res to 720p or 1080p.
BD Rebuilder will then encode the streams correctly and there will not be any double images.
Link to the writeup and needed software is http://brothers_grim.webs.com/bd/index.html
BDedit thread here on doom9 is http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=125903
Good luck.

If you're backing up a BD -- how can the source be non-compliant with BD? Are these home-grown?

Jdobbs, quick note he has the German version and not the US version.

Thanks GaPony. I deleted the Auxdata folder as suggested and Denon BD-3800 refuses to load the disc. First, it is recognized as DVD and soon after that a legend appear saying "Disc Error. Playback feature may not be available on this disc".
Just to let you know, with AUXDATA, disc is recognized as BD and it play but only audio with black screen. Movie Only.
Jdobbs: Do you want me keep posting this error in this thread? Do you think the player is not accepting a BD disc into a DVD-5 disc? Do you think the new BD-RB version could make a difference?
