I've never heard of anything like that. I did a lot of testing during development to see what the M2TS overhead was for all the audio/video types. For LPCM is was typically a little less than 15%. It has worked well on every LPCM encode I've done. I can't imagine a 100% overhead for any kind of audio track.

I don't think it is the m2ts overhead.
The size of audio in the m2ts stream is nearly double the size of the wav file. This can't be coincidence.
I am convinced that the audio is somehow muxed twice.

Another clue is the bit rate displayed.
On the main screen BDinfo shows bit rate of 1152 kps for the LPCM track.
But after doing a bit rate scan it shows a bit rate of 2304 kbs in the report. Exactly double 1152.
Maybe a flag is set incorrectly somewhere?!

BTW, I demuxed the audio with eac3to and the size was the same as with the tsmuxer, about 900 MB.

- TSMUXER: Ok

Also i must everytime "Run as Administrator" because BD Rebuilder will not update those settings in the registry.

Whats the problem??

Well you do see Haali is not the recommended version?
Uninstall your haali, delete the Haali folder in Windows Programs, and then download and install the correct haali from the first post of this thread.
Then delete the BDREBUILDER.ini within your BD-RB folder.
Then right click on REG_MSCOMCTL and Run As Administrator.
Then right click on BD_Rebuilder.exeand Run As Administrator.
Now you shoul be ready. :)

LOL! Other way around for me. XP SP3 was garbage for me. Windows 7 is a godsend for me.

I may have to pick up the CARS BD to try that one out for "Diver90". But since Jdobbs has done it, Should go smooothly.

Whats the problem?? You have to "Run as Administrator" only once -- but based on the log, BD-RB is not getting administrative privileges, or you wouldn't get this:

- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Not Set correctly

Are you sure you have admin privileges when you try it? Also make sure the following isn't in your INI file:

SUPPRESS_FF_WARNING=1

If it is, delete it. That gets added when you tell BD-RB to not ask you again about setting the registry.

I did eveyrthing. I delete the .ini , in the first one i Run as Admin and i accept the following windows. But i get everytime the same error.
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Not Set correctly
And i must run as admin everytime. He write it not in the registry.
No Idea.

No Idea. Either you don't have admin privileges on that computer, or something else is changing it back. My guess would be the former.

This will take care of that. I've done it on multiple machines :)
http://windows7news.com/2009/02/03/enable-or-disable-the-windows-7-administrator-account/

Type/Run "CMD" in the start bar. Right click top CMD icon, and run as administrator. This will be the last time :D

To enable the Windows 7 administrator account:

net user administrator /active:yes

To disable the Windows 7 administrator account:

net user administrator /active:no

That error (00075) is a "path access error". When gotten at 1605 (the program position) it appears that the work path has either been corrupted or the drive can't be accessed for some reason.

Now I have tested some more BDs and some more languages. My finding is that it is not possible to keep languages which are not selected in setup. BD Rebuilder seems to ignore the selection from the stream list although the selection is apparently stored in the .inf file. In deed, I could produce a BD without any audio track by deselecting all languages in setup and then selecting them in the stream list.

I'm sorry, but you're mistaken... it works for me and everyone else. If you select it from the streams list, it will be kept. I do it all the time.

Are you doing a full backup, a movie-only backup, an ALTERNATE movie-only backup? The reason I ask for logs in bug reports is so that we don't have to do a constant back-and-forth dialog to find the issue.

It was a full back up. I attached some logs in an earlier post, but I will do a new encode of Alice in Wonderland, keeping only English in setup, and selecting Turkish, German, French in the stream list. The logs will be attached then.

I just did "The Last Airbender". By default, Bd rebuilder removed the "Audio Description" track. I told it to keep it by double clicking it in the streams list. I thought it could be the directors commentary. It was not. But obviously an audio track really isn't gonna affect the video quality by much ;) I had no trouble with this. I am running 35.01. I'm a firm believer if it ain't broke don't fix it. But I have been considering moving on to the newest version.

Thanks again Jdobbs for a wonderful software. My trouble has been almost non existent :D

Maybe I used the wrong words. Correctly said:
I don't know if the audio tracks are present after the encode.
I definitely know that I am not able to select them in the language menu of the disc on my Panasonic BD60, FW 2.5, when they where not selected in the setup menu.

well i dunno, i do the same thing i do when i rebuild a movie, just select the source, the output and after that i just press the button, nothing else What I was asking was for you to look in the folder and see if it was there. That would at least clear up whether it was an issue with the command, or with the reencode itself.

If you mean Inspect ?, just look inside the folder that has BD-RB, you will see a file named Inspect. Open that file and click Inspect, and it will tell you if all the associated programs for BD-RB are correctly installed.

Hi! I am running 35.01. I'm a firm believer if it ain't broke don't fix it. But I have been considering moving on to the newest version. If you keep in mind that the sole purpose of this thread is beta testing the program, you should understand that you should always be using the most recent version...

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest release of BD-RB (v0.36.03). Changes for this version:- Added a new hidden option for specifying the HC
Encoder profile to use for movie-only DVD output.
The quality of the encode (highest being slowest)
can be set by adding "HC_PROFILE=s" to the config
(INI) file with "s" being set to "FAST", "NORMAL",
or "BEST". The default setting is "NORMAL".
- Corrected a syntax error on command lines that
could cause encoding failure for DVD output when
an audio delay is required.
- Corrected an error in which an unmatched language
setting (BD to DVD) could cause a build failure
when outputting to ALTERNATE/DVD.
- Fixed a regression in which ALTERNATE/MKV audio
output was always incorrectly being reencoded to
DD 2.0 (rather than DD 5.1 when available).
- Corrected an error in which audio streams that
contained delays, and were not in the initial
(SETUP defined) list of selections, could (if
later selected from the streams list) be muxed
out-of-sync.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1772).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r1772).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

LOL! That's why I said I'm considering moving on :p You're totally correct though. I love to beta. Windows 7 was probably the most exciting to me...

Hello everyone! i am using BD-rebuilder since a month, thank you to create thatīs wonderful program.
This week i was rebuilding spartacus disc 2 and i have 3 times this problem
- [20:24:10] Reencoding: VID_00001, Pass 1 of 1
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Encode failed. Retrying.
- Reached retry limit. Aborting.
- BD-Rebuilder v0.36.02 (beta)
- Windows Version: 6.1 [7600]
- AVISYNTH Version: 2.5.7.0, Ok
- HAALI Splitter: Ok
- FFDSHOW: 3326, Ok
- FFDSHOW_RAW_AUDIO: Not recommended setting
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Ok
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Ok
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libavcodec": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "libavcodec": Ok
- X264: Ok
- AFTEN: Ok
- FAAC: Ok
- MP4BOX: Ok
- WAVI: Ok
- TSMUXER: Ok
[16:47:58] - Failed video encode, aborted
And i donīt find the solution, the three times the same error in the same part of the rebuild, the interesting thing itīs that the log show "- FFDSHOW_RAW_AUDIO: Not recommended setting" but if i do the inspect show "- FFDSHOW: 3326, Ok
- FFDSHOW_RAW_AUDIO: Set to "All Supported", Ok"
could you know what itīs happening?
Thank very much for your work jdobbs!

Tried the batch mode last night(0.35.01 I've since updated). Unfortunately, a bug incurred in the first job(Toy Story 3), which apparently aborts all jobs. This is unfortunate eh? For a measly audio problem, which may not exist in following jobs. Error 75 which apparently suggests rebuilder was trying to reference audio that doesn't exist. Not sure how that happened. I did click on audio streams in the streams section. I'm rerunning the job on default settings to see what happens. I only ripped the disc using anydvd. No other processing other than Bd Rebuilder.

According to the log the output size should have been 22.95 GB but it came out as 22.1 GB so that's almost 4% smaller. As said I used 2 pass mode so I figured it should have to hit the specified target size almost spot on. The overhead needed for muxing isn't very consistent, so there's always a possiblity of some undersizing. Most of my encodes come in at about 22.4GB. I have to leave a little room in case the muxing goes off in the other direction.

I'm still making adjustments to the sizing during beta testing. So I'd expect it to be more accurate by the time I get to v1.00.

You can always set a custom target size (see SETUP) that is closer to a full disc -- but right now I don't want to risk oversizing because that requires a complete redo.

There wouldn't be any likely visible difference in the output with that small amount of undersizing. I'm not one of the folks who subscribes to the "fill to the edge of the disc" philosophy. But over time it'll get closer.

Second attempt of Toy Story 3 went well. This time I didn't fiddle with the audio streams. Sure wish I had a freak processor to eat up this processing job. I'd run a lot more tests ;) Can't wait to see how Sandy bridge and Bulldozer handle this process :D

A rare but potential bug surfaced regarding mixed audio bitrates within a "Play All" bonus feature for the movie Predators. The bonus feature is 40:12, Evolution of the Species. It is broken up into 8 seperate .m2ts files, with 7 of the files having 448kbps, 6 channel AC3 audio, but one has 224kbps, 2 channel AC3 audio.
The full movie backup completes correctly, as BD-RB keeps the original structure intact and preserves the 8 individual files.
However, if movie only is selected, and this .mpls is selected from the other Movie-Only playlist choices, the problem occurs. Since BD-RB attempts to join the 8 seperate m2ts files into one m2ts, and the lone 224kbps 2 channel AC3 is different from the rest, there is a problem.
I have never experienced this before, probably very uncommon, but does provide another consideration for joining multi-part m2ts files into one. :(

By spec, when there are multiple components they all must have the same stream characteristics. They have to -- because the stream characteristics are specified in the MPLS for the entire set.

I do understand this, but technically the source is not in violation since it works fine ( Not good authoring though! ), and because it has a seperate .mpls for each .m2ts. There is a "Play All" button that just tells the player to play consecutively each .m2ts.
As I said, BD-RB reencodes this Blu-ray correctly if I choose full backup. It maintains the same structure.
Only when I select movie only in BD-RB, and choose the associated .mpls, which BD-RB has as an available option to select from does the problem arise.
Perhaps if BD-RB read the contents of this mpls, it would detect that the audio streams of each m2ts are not the same and refuse to continue to attempt to join them?
I know this is extremely rare, and I really don't have an issue with it. :o
I just wanted to share an experience that could allow BD-RB to make a movie only option that has audio sync or missing audio for a multi-part movie clip. :(

The test isn't whether it will play back -- lots of illegal things might work just by coincidence. It's true that you may have a different MPLS that points to it as well -- but if it is included in any MPLS and violates the rules, it is not to spec.

BD-RB already reads the MPLS and each of the CLPI files... but all the audio encoding has to be done together. I could reject is sure... but then I'd get even more bug reports because of the missing segment.

What I worry about is that if I start looking for ways to fix things that are out-of-spec, there would be no end to it.

Maybe in the next program version, and on post #1, you could do some re-phrasing that would avoid confusing newbies, et al:
The Matroska splitter is not mentioned in the actual program - instead being referred to as Haali splitter.
So if BDRB reports an incorrect Haali splitter during a failed encode, users will go looking for it in post #1 and not find it....
...maybe reword post #1 to include ..."Matroska", formerly known as...
anyway, thought it might help.

Hi!

Although similar to my question regarding "The Pacific", this has NOTHING to do with DTSExpress audio.

I created a full disc DVD9 of "Disney's A Christmas Carol". It contains PIP with 320kbps 2 channel .AC3.

When played on my SONY BDP S360, once the alternative (PIP) version is selected, an EMPTY frame appears at the lower right (It should contain the alternate video) and both audio and subtitles disappear and cannot be activated/selected.

Any thoughts, or is it "just one of those things? (I will not, for any reason, update the SONY's firmware)

Note: For what it's worth, the same burned DVD9 plays perfectly under PowerDVD v.7.3...

Perhaps for testing, if you burned this same backup to a BD-RE, would it display the same results when played on the Sony S360?

Hey jdobbs i have a quetion.

A few days ago i want to encode the Shrek 1 3D BD, but BD_Rebuilder fails.
Some1 here says it is not possible to encode 3D BD's right now.
I just want the 2D Version, with Menue and Extras.

The Image was ripped with the "Red Fox" to my HDD.
It has a Size of 33,1 GB
I've mounted the Image with Virtual Clone drive.
In the STREAM Folder was a 00000.m2ts File, this is the Main Movie without 3D.
It has a size of 22,4 GB.
Also there was a 00001.m2ts with a Size of 10 GB, this is the 3D Part and i cant play it with TMT 3.
And there is a SSIF Folder with .ssif Files in the STREAM Folder. This is for 3D also.

Now i ripped the complete Image again with the newest DVDFab to Folder Structure.
After ripping the SSIF Folder is missing, but the Disc plays fine on TMT 3 and my Dune HD SMART.
I deleted the 00001.m2ts File and the Disc plays fine again.

Now the Shrek Disc has a size of 23,1 GB, with Menue, Extras and all Languages.

I open the Disc in BD_Rebuilder and get this:

I just select the German Language and normaly there is no encode needed, because it fits on da BD25 now.
But BD_RB wants to encode the Main Movie.

Why BD_RB wants to encode?
Is the Disc size saved in another File and BD_RB believes that this is the untouched Disc with a Size of 33 GB?

I open the Main Movie m2ts with TS Muxxer and just selceted the German Language + English DTS HD
Now the complete Disc has a size of 19 GB and there is definitely no encode needed.

@KeVe1983

In the example you give above BD-RB has to reencode because the combination of the 3 streams that make up the main feature are larger (23.15GB) than the target output size (22.95GB). You may be able to put in a larger custom target size and it might fit.

Yes but it will be 23.15 GB if i select all Audio tracks, or am i wrong?

http://www.abload.de/img/bdr3ifen.jpg

So if i just select the German Track the Disc is Undersized and there is no encode needed!

Like i said i removed the other Language Tracks with TS Muxxer and just select the German Track + the English DTS HD Track and now the complete Disc has a size of 19 GB with 2 Audio Tracks

So why BD_Rebuilder wants to encode if i just select the German Track?

I ran into a similar situation with National Treasure.

I selected movie only, english DTS-HD MA, and english subtitle.
In the BD-RB settings I selected to extract DTS core and not keep HD audio.

Video + DTS Core + Subtitle would just fit BD-25 with no re-encode.

But BD-RB still did a re-encode of video even though with the DTS core it would of fit a BD-25. I increased the custom size and it worked.

Does BD-RB make the final size calculation with the DTS core or the DTS-HD MA track?

Edit: I guess it could be possible the movie was above the BD-25 defined size in BD-RB but it would actually fit a BD-25 disc.
