No probs though, looks great at 1080p and 60hz i dont think you would notice the difference anyway! Or would you?

Looks great at 1080p 60hz, but without judder in 24p it looks truely better.

I have a sony BDP S300 i have done quite a few back-ups to bdr 25s the quality is fantastic my only problem is that the seems to be a little lag when i choose source direct on the player 1080/24p(my television can source 24p)But when i select 1080p instead everything is fine,No big deal but has anyone else seen this,Not sure if it is a bug or the player and tv can`t handle it well at source direct.

It's not the player.

I have the S550 which is pretty much the same player but with DTSMA decoding. I output at 24p for loads of discs and never had that happen.

Do you mean originals or backups? With my originals i can source at 24p with no probs.

Both, sorry forgot to say I was referring to backups (DVD\BD-R all fine). The Sony BDP-XXX are the most compatible models, it's very unlikely that it is the cause of your out of synch issue.

The back ups are not out of synch just a slight judder when at 24p source direct,Nothing major but i can notice it especially viewing on a 50inch plasma........Any ideas why this is occurring?Fantastic program by the way.:thanks:

Again, no problem there either, sounds pretty weird.

Sure you haven't got "motionflow" or an eqivalent for your LCD\Plasma set to high when checked out your original\backup. Some screens these days smooth movement to make your source look more like video with that setting on. It can cause problems if you have compressed your source by a large amount. I haven't experienced any problem like that apart from when watching extrememly highly compressed extras, as in juddering that shouldn't be there and needs the motionflow to be turned off

after trying newer tsmuxer version to get hd sound data i've given up.

But there is another problem. Now i've got the newest version with all tools jdobbs provides.

In my case every backed up blu ray has got dolby digital. All sound streams are converted into this format while using the following config

Known issue, no solution to my knowledge that is certain to work. I don't have one but the person posting above this post is the first I've heard of them getting 24p to work with a Panasonic BD-XX model.

BD Rebuilder is a charm!
I'm still a moron but already becoming a BD Rebuilder fan!

@jdobbs, thanks for your great program!
@Furiousflea, thanks for your moron-proof guide!
@deank, thanks for goBD which made BDRB's output BD9-disks PS3 ready!

Last weekend I had my first encounter with BDRB.
Surprise, moron me was successful with backing up my first 4 BDs to BD9-disks!

Let me report some observations and ask a few questions:
1. I use BD Rebuilder v0.20.05 (beta)
and these components (because I have them installed for TSPE):
AviSynth 2.58, build: May 17 2007,
ffdshow tryouts revision 2527 Dec 17 2008
Codecs: H.64/AVC deactivated
Codecs: MPEG2 libmpeg2 (libmpeg2_ff.dll 0.5.0, build Dec 17 2008)
...
Haali Media Splitter 1.9.42.1
CoreCodec / CoreAVC H.264 Video Decoder PE 1.9.5 with CUDA OFF
Are these components also ok for BDRB?

2. My first backup was a Movie-Only Backup and it was a full success:
2.0 There was one m2ts to the main movie.
2.1 I did the settings strictly according to Furiousflea's Guide, clicked at "Backup", waited 16 hours, did "Write files/folders to disc" with Imageburn.
2.2 The BD9 disk (Fujifilm DVD+ R DL) is playing properly with may (European version) PS3 and with my software players Nero9 ShowTime and Cyberlink PowerDVD Ultra 7
2.3 The BD9 folder on hard disk is accepted and played well with Nero9 ShowTime.
2.4 The BD9 folder on hard disk is accepted by PowerDVD Ultra 7 for "Open movie file on hard disk drive" but NOT played well: starts at Time:17:14:00 / 00:00:00 Title: 0/0 Chapter: 0/0 Video: MPEG-2, black screen!

3. "Movie-Only Backup" for movies with more than one m2ts?
I was not able to "Movie-Only Backup" my other BDs because the main movies used two m2t of almost same size (~19 GB each).
3.1 Option "Movie-Only Backup" offered me either the first or the second part (.m2ts) of the main movie, only.
3.2 Because I am interested in the whole movie with the original chapters and subtitles, I am forced to do a "Full Backup" for these cases.
3.2 Are Movie-Only Backups only for movies with _one_ m2ts?
What about movies with more than one m2ts? And retain original chapters and subs?

4. "Full Backup" calculated fine following Furiousflea's Guide.
4.1 The BD9 folder on hard disk is NOT accepted and NOT played well with my software players Nero9 ShowTime and PowerDVD Ultra 7.
4.2 The BD9 disk (Fujifilm DVD+ R DL) only plays as Data Disk on my PS3 although I used the "Stricter AVCHD compliance...!" General Encoding Option also for "Full Backup". There is no compliance with my PS3.

5. goBD by deank makes my "Full Backups" on BD9-disks work:
5.1 After applying goBD the BD9 folders on hard disk play well with Nero9 ShowTime; but are still not accepted by PowerDVD Ultra 7.
5.2 After applying goBD to the BD9 folders the resulting BD9 disks (Fujifilm DVD+ R DL) play well on my PS3 and in both software players Nero9 ShowTime and PowerDVD Ultra 7.
5.3 Thus, I will use goBD after BDRB in my standard workfolw.

6. How to make the BD9 folders ready for playing as AVCHD from FAT32 USB disk at the PS3 ???
This would be a really useful feature. This is what I miss most now! I prefer not to burn to any BD or DVD disk, but to simply copy the BD9 folder to an external 1GB+ USB disk and play form there.
Hope that in some near future also my Poppy (PCH A-110) will play the BD9 folder as BD with chapter selection and subs selection enabled and not only the single m2ts in sort of Data Disk mode.
6.1 In "Movie-Only Backup" to BD9 the movie is in one single m2ts which is > 4GB and therefore is not FAT32 compliant.
6.2 In "Full Backup" to BD9 there is a chance that all m2ts could be < 4GB each, but is this sufficient?
6.3 I tried AVCHD_Me and MultiAVCHD, but being a moron, was not too successful. MultiAVCHD always wanted to process the contents of the BD9 folder _twice_ and did not split the too big m2ts into two parts. And would it have adjusted the chapter and subs references form the original one-m2ts to the FAT32 compliant splitting into _two_-m2ts ???

@deank
Could you please upgrade your "goBD" to "goAVCHD" to make the BD9 folders ready for FAT32 USB disks for PS3 (sort of an AVCHD_ME for BDRB's BD9 output folders) including adjusted chapter and subs references ?

7. Some Audio feature requests:
7.1 LPCM, 2 ch is converted by default to ac3, 2ch, 192 kbps.
Could you please enable to select some higher bitrate: ac3, 2ch, 256 kbps and/or 448 kbps?
7.2 Or could you please enable a more general conversion to "conventional" audio?
7.2.1 From HD Audio, DTS, LPCM, AC3 to AC3 or MP2, 2ch or 6ch, 192, 256, 320, 448, 640 kbps.
7.2.2 In most cases my personal favourite audio selection for a backups would be "MP2, 2ch, 256" or "MP2, 2ch, 320" (because I am used to these audio attributes from DVB Video and DVB Radio channels on Astra 19.2 East).

Many thanks!

I'd suggest you to follow this thread, because jdobbs will probably change BD-RB and you won't need goBD.

6.3 I tried AVCHD_Me and MultiAVCHD, but... multiAVCHD always wanted to process the contents of the BD9 folder _twice_ and did not split the too big m2ts

You need to import your MPLS file into multiAVCHD. When you drag your folder it will ask you (if you have some of the latest builds) and will process your folder, keeping chapters/subtitles/etc, creating FAT32 names for USB and will split m2ts files to 4gb chunks. If you need help - post in multiAVCHD thread.

@deank
Could you please upgrade your "goBD" to "goAVCHD" to make the BD9 folders ready for FAT32 USB disks for PS3

In fact goBD does exactly what you ask for - changes the index to look like as AVCHD and it will work from USB (if you have filenames renamed to 8.3 format).

Nobody here kind enough to give me the beginning of an answer ? I can't believe it...

I am running into the following Gordian knot :
-Want to make a BD25 backup of a 37,7 GB BD (Gattaca) with BD_RB (0.20.05) keeping only EN and FR audio and subtitles tracks.
-Feature of this movie is that ALL audio tracks are TrueHD ones

If I have have well understood, I CAN save TrueHD audio format with BD25 target by asking that into setting menu...

Alas, BD_RB rip make a 102% BD25 size that I can't burn on a 25GB disk...

I try to rip with manually reduced target size : Result is OK for BD 25 burning, but... TrueHD tracks don't play... ( Is "Keep HD Audio for BD25 encoding" option strictly allowed for "Target size BD25" option ?)

It seems that in case of TrueHD tracks, size calculation is too large...

Could we have "TrueHD conservation" allowed for manually BD25 target adjusted ???

Thanks by advance

May be the developer jdobbs is the only one who can answer and help you with that - that's why no one answered... And he is away for few days/weeks - just be patient - it will get solved.

Hi!

I just tried another universal title, Bourne Supremicy (EUR).

Just like all other Universal title I tried (Bourne Identity, Hellboy 2), The main movie does not start in full backup mode.

After pressing "play movie" the screen stays black.

DeanYes, for MOVIE ONLY-BD9s. :)
But, how about the full FULL_BD9 with the original menus, extras, etc. ?

First off just wanted to say BD Rebuilder is great.

I've been using without problem for weeks but have now got access to a new workstation (Dual Intel Xeon 3GHz, Quad-core processors and 16GB RAM). Currently running Vista x64 and have been using 32-bit versions of software and getting rebuild times of about 4-hours.

I was wondering whether I can use 64-bit versions of ffdshow and x264 to increase performance/reduce rebuild times? I have downloaded the 64-bit versions of the software but I'm getting rebuild errors. Does anyone have this working? Does it reduce rebuild times?

p.s. Apologies if this question has already been asked/answered but I cannot find any reference in this thread.

Hi!After pressing "play movie" the screen stays black. Are you referring to playback on your computer or on a standalone player?

If this is happening on your computer, be advised that I have experienced occasions when PowerDVD has taken an inordinately long amount of time (more than two or three minutes) after initially loading to start playing...

I can confirm that I have done all of those titles in full backup mode (the Bournes to bd-9 and Hellboy 2 to bd-25 because of an issue with one of the vc1 extras) and the video and menus all work fine on my standalone.

I asked the question some weeks ago and the response was:
"Currently you'd need 64 bit avisynth (doesn't seem to work) and 64 bit directshow filters like ffdshow 64 or you'd need to be able to pipe with avs2yuv which BD-RB currently doesn't support."

You could, if\when jdobbs sets BDRB to "recognise" 64bit x264.

I haven't experienced any problem like that apart from when watching extrememly highly compressed extras, as in juddering that shouldn't be there and needs the motionflow to be turned off

Sorry for the late reply,I have checked and there is no motionflow or anything of that sort on the plasma.Still trying to get to the bottom of this slight judder at 24p.I have tried using coreavc on its own ,but it is still there ever so slightly.I have also used just ffdshow but still the same result.I was thinking it could be a compatibillity issue.Furiousflea could you please tell me what settings you have with ffdshow and should i keep coreavc on my system.:thanks:

Hello,

I did a BD25 full movie backup of The Bourne Supremacy with HD sound. Worked like a charm on my PS3. Now i`m deleting de extra`s by replacing the files with a black screen movie file of 30KB so I have more GB left for the main movie. Running it trough rebuilder right now.

For those who after rebuilder is finished have oversize. Just replace one of the extra`s with a smaller file.

Just seen my first problem with BD Rebuilder.
Trying a Movie Only rebuild on I, Robot and sound has shifted out of sync by about 1-2 seconds.
Tried rebuild multiple times on multiple systems and same result.
Also saw this with Fantastic 4 - Rise of the Silver Surfer but thought that I'd messed up with AnyDVD rip to disk on that one, but maybe it was same problem.

Use latest version (1.9.9), works fine for DTSHD\MA\TrueHD.

No version works properly for LPCM. If your audio is LPCM your out of luck for now.

That`s correct I also used the latest version and it worked great. Didn`t know that LPCM won`t work at the moment. Too bad. Just a matter of time.

BD Rebuilder is a charm!
I'm still a moron but already becoming a BD Rebuilder fan!

@jdobbs, thanks for your great program!
@Furiousflea, thanks for your moron-proof guide!
@deank, thanks for goBD which made BDRB's output BD9-disks PS3 ready!
...
Many thanks!
...
Cela

@jdobbs for BDRB
1. Please add a feature to produce FAT32 compliant output!
(see 6. of my post #2562 at page 129 LINK (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1276399#post1276399) ). (Similar to 4. below)
2. Please, integrate deank's goBD into BDRB to boost PS3 compatibility
3. Please add some Audio features
Let the user define the default for audio conversion. Apply this default also to LPCM input.
(see 7. in LINK (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=143716&page=129))

@deank for multiAVCH
4. PLEASE, upgrade multiAVCHD to process the FULL BD9 Backup from BDRB with the original menus, extras, etc as it already now processes one selected mpls!
As a result of this upgrade any BD9 Backup from BDRB would become FAT32 compliant. (Similar to 1. above)
5. Please add an option to redo a previous run of multiAVCHD with user edited chapter (and subtitle) input. This would enable the user to modify chapters and subtitles inherited from the BDRB backup.

@idbirch2 for AVCHDManager:
6. Your AVCHDManager is so cool!
Now, where it is so easy to do it on the computer, from a user's point of view, a boost of user friendlyness would be to let a PS3_native_AVCHDManager application quickly select the AVCHD default out of the bunch of candidates on the 1TB USB disk directly at the PS3 and immediately play the selected show!

PS3 programmers! Here is an interesting task for you! ;)

Cheers

Hi!

I just tried another universal title, Bourne Supremicy (EUR).

Just like all other Universal title I tried (Bourne Identity, Hellboy 2), The main movie does not start in full backup mode.

After pressing "play movie" the screen stays black.

Bye

I too am having lots of problems with Universal Titles, and some Dreamworks titles which are essentially Universal, get the same probs as you either on Power DVD 8.0 or Panasonic BD-30, i have left them trying to load on power dvd for up to an hour....

I am using PowerDVD 7.3 on my "work" PC and PowerDVD 8 on my HTPC. Both of them show the described problems. I waited 30 minutes.

not @DaMacFunkin:
I dont need a SAP, my HTPC can do much more than them. And:
- the Original AnyDVD precessed BluRay works fine
- the BD-RB one does not

So its a Bug. And even if it works on some SAP, its likely that on others it does not work.

I just finnished The Bourne Supremacy EUR. As I said before I replaced all the extra`s with a 30kb black screen file (saved me over 4 GB of space) and ran it through rebuilder. Disc plays fine. Boots up the menu starts the main movie with HD SOUND!!! When I want to see the extra`s the screen goos black for 5 sec. en goes back to the menu.

Tested it on PS3 EUR.

Great Prog. Now starting with Independence Day with extra`s replaced!!!

Of what use is it to retain the menu if you've eliminated the extras?

Also, what does your post have to with bugs in BD-RB?

No version works properly for LPCM. If your audio is LPCM your out of luck for now.

That explains the issue I've had with 'The Man Who Fell To Earth'. The main track is only available in LPCM. :(

I wasn't sure if it was something I was doing...

Is there any way to retrieve and convert LPCM audio on this disc so that I can remux back into the final stream?

It's fine if you don't mind the audio being converted to 640k AC3. Just when keeping the LPCM it won't rebuild correctly. There is no "1 click way" or a way without some complex hex editing to my knowledge (limited in this area).

The problem is muxing the LPCM. jdobbs could get around the limitation of tsmuxer by doing a bit of reverse thinking maybe by using the original m2ts and stripping the streams according to BDRBs encoding profile and muxing the video\audio back to the original so the LPCM is never actually touched.

Since the problem with tsmuxer is importing the LPCM this could be a possible solution (or a load of balls...but you never know).

:)

Sorry can't offer any actual solution, tekmoible might know and turbojet also prolly does.

It`s a personal thing. I like my movies with original menu and just the main movie. But you`re right I won`t post anything more since it`s not related to Bugs.

That's better than no audio at all at this point. I'll give that a try and see how it works.

I posted what i thought was a bug a few days a go about my backup bdrs juddering when played at source direct 1080/24p,Only to find out that it is my television (samsung series 5 model)i have found out that it will not play at 1080/24p properly even thought it states that it does on the reviews and box and instruction manual. The whole point of buying the television was because of the 24p.just letting people know if they come across the same thing i did with the juddering.I have a battle on now with currys who now are sending out a engineer tues:mad:

Seems to me that bdrb has got a problem with a videotrack with no audio and no subtitle.

thing this is a little homework for jdobbs.
attached a screnshot of the blu ray.

also tried erin brokovic. its a blu ray with dlby true hd sound. on this hs sound i am getting stuttering sound with newest tsmuxxer. all other hd sound formats are working perefectly.

I know this thread has become way too hard to follow for bug reports, and things have been quite slow as of lately, but I will report a recent finding anyway. I tried to back up Terminator 3, NTSC, to BD-R. It is 29.1GB, and has an " In-Movie Experience" video track with a directors comment and PIP window as the movie plays. I chose to keep all 6 audio tracks and all subtitle tracks. The movie starts right after the brief FBI warning intro and the Warner Home Video intro, without the main menu, so there is nothing to select to start with. Almost immediately the audio is out of sync, and at the 5 min mark into the movie, it is behind by 90 seconds. It continues to fall behind further and further later into the movie. At the conclusion of this, the main menu starts, and I select to play the In-Movie Experience option, and it plays perfectly the entire movie, with the backround audio and directors comments perfectly in sync with the PIP window. All the extras on the disc also appear to play back fine, no problems with them. Has anyone tried this movie or had a similar experience?

jdobbs - Love this program. I will buy it at the price you name when it reaches a final build. A couple of ideas.

1 - No option to preserve original encode when the main movie and a single audio track will already fit on a BD-r? How about when the main movie and a 448kbps AAC track are used? My main concern here is time because the PQ is great even when re-encoding.

2 - How about ability to select extras like shrink used to allow? i.e. main movie then one or two particular extras play in sequence without menus.

*3 - I have a slew of HD-DVDs. Any chance we'll see an HD->BD option, even if it's just keeping the main movie since menus, etc. will not work anyway. I'd love to be able to transfer some of my discs over without rebuying them.

4 - Option to keep HD audio even when going to BD-9. This seems like too much for the smaller BD-9 but would be great for concert discs where the video is "somewhat" of a wash in comparison to audio.

*5 - A test option that allows a small 3 minute sample to be produced, just to check quality and that the correct audio has been used. It's is such a bummer to encode for 14 hours and then discover an error.

Thanks again for this fantastic software. Keep up the great work!
