Hi jdobbs,on the img/burn i've got an issue that under win7 32-bit imgburn will only burn media at a max of 0.2x. wiped system put xp back on writing at 4.1x again very strange
any one else had this?????
p.s. sorry i know this is not a bug with bd rebuilder. Definitely weird. Sounds like a bug in the driver for your specific burner. I'm running two burners on my Windows 7 64 bit system and another on my Windows 7 32 bit system. All are working fine with ImgBurn.

Also, (assuming you use ImgBurn) go to:

Tools >> Settings >> Write Page 1 & make sure these are checked:

DVD RAM/BD-RE Fast Write
Prefer Format With Full Cert
Prefer Format Without Spare Areas
Prefer Properly Formatted Discs
Prefer Format Size "Maximum"

I'm not sure how many of those are default? If you don't check "fast write", you'll only burn maybe 1x. With it checked, my LG burns at 2.3x. And, if you don't check "without spare areas" (& maybe "Maximum"??) you'll end up with a disc that is undersize (I think it was 1.5GB??) compared to a BD-R.

Thanks! Prefer Format Size was the only option I needed to change, and it worked!

I experienced an "audio encode error" last night and it seems that AFTEN does not like/accept the special character in the
name of my output directory - cf. the second log.

- ERROR in attempt to reencode audio (AFTEN) [AUD_00000__4352.AVS]
[08:48:11] - Failed to reencode audio, aborted

I now used Eac3to to convert the DTS stream to AC3 but I did try from the original workfile folder WITH the special character inside its name:

eac3to v3.18
command line: "C:\Programme\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "F:\DVD\wüstenblume\WORKFILES\00000.track_4353.dts" "F:\DVD\wüstenblume\WORKFILES\4353.ac3" -640
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DTS, 5.1 channels, 2:07:40, 16 bits, 1509kbps, 48khz
The ArcSoft and Sonic decoders don't seem to work, will use libav instead.
Patching bitdepth to 24 bits...
Decoding with libav/ffmpeg...
Remapping channels...
Encoding AC3 <640kbps> with libAften...
Creating file "F:\DVD\wüstenblume\WORKFILES\4353.ac3"...
The last DTS frame is incomplete and thus gets skipped. <WARNING>
eac3to processing took 3 minutes, 54 seconds.
Done.

So the question is: could BD RB made to check for any such issues when starting the process or where does libAften differ?

@DK

Sorry, I don't think I understand. Is it the ü in the path that caused it to fail?

i think i found an issue here...

when i do a batch process (2 or more rebuilds).. even if i select the correct audios when i am doing the batch.. the program uses the ones that are selected in the setup

@DK

Sorry, I don't think I understand. Is it the ü in the path that caused it to fail?

Sorry if i wasn't clear enough.

Yes, the output path name contains that name "Wüstenblume" - the english title is "desert flower".

The full path can be seen n the eac3to log.

And I SUPECT that to be the reason as the next title in the batch queue and all previous conversion did not fail with this audio extraction error.
Or was there a limitation with avisynth concerning path names?

Or am I mistaken and it was just bad luck?

Hmmm, misery loves company, doesnt it?

The second title I did shows two problems:

- the original material offers a selection marker in the initial menu
- the converted material does NOT show this marker - cf. attachments.

I am not able to get this full movie back to play beyond the initial menu.

I wouldnt know which further infos I could provide on this issues?

And problem number two is: there is absolutely NO audio stream!
Checked with tsmuxer as well as playing just the m2ts file.

According to the log audio was processed but there is no stream in the m2ts nor in the workfiles folder.

it's normal, jdobbs has an expiration on the app since it is BETA. he doesn't want an out of date app being used, especially in testing. just go grab the most up to date.

TIAThat just means the date is wrong on your XP machine. 0.34.02 doesn't expire until mid July. Correct the date.

I think your settings in the device manager were changed for either your hard drive or disc drive from DMA to PIO mode. That would definately decrease the speed like that. Windows XP was notorious for downgrading the drives randomly. If my memory serves me right all you had to do was delete the drive that was having the problem, reboot, and let XP reinstall the drivers. Here's a good page that describes the problem and how to fix it.

Oh, I see now. I must've half read your original post. You tried Windows 7 and had the problem so you reverted back to XP. Anyhow, the problem could still be the same. I'd look to make sure that DMA is enabled in Windows 7. It also could be a driver issue. Make sure that all your drivers are up to date and properly installed. It would help if you listed the specs of your system. I'm using Windows 7 64bit without any problems.

On a side note... Jdobbs would x264 be able to utilize all 16 or 24 cores from the new amd server chips? I'm toying around with the idea of using the new amd server 6100 chips. I'd like to be able to get these encoding times down to 2-3 hours from my currently 10-12 hours. I always do 2 pass encodes.

I re-run this title, setting audio to be kept as HD streams (which I dont really want as they are simple 2.0 streams) and now audio is included but the menu problem remains: the marker is not available and the film cannot be started in any way.

Would anyone know how maybe BDEdit or any other tool may help me getting rid of this initial menu and start with the "normal menu"?

That doesnt really seem to work.

First problem is there seem to be 12 (corresponding to the number of languages depicted in my previous screenshot) LARGE menu files with each of them being some 100mb bigger than the converted file which leads me to an oversized backup if i copied ALL of them.

Why copying all of them you might ask: simply because i have no way of knowing which one corresponds to my chosen language in the first menu.

I then copied the first 4 files and it seems like they are in the same order as the language options are presented in the first menu screen and since i wanted the thir option the third menu may be the correct one for me.
So the oversize problem was solved and i DID get a working second menu file to choose play and audio setup and extras and the like BUT when i select play it seems like the main title is loaded but the operation breaks and jumps back to the last menu i have been to (play, audio,...) so still no playback.

Because i have no idea of which files to copy as i simply cannot make out the proper system of how the files are referenced to one another i may have forgotten to copy a certain file but it's over my head.

I'll try an older version of BD RB some time but the menu of this title definitely makes rb fail.

I'm going to be gone for a few days, but I'll look at it when I get back. The fact that there is a large menu associated with the menu gives me an idea where the problem may be... unfortunately I'm probably not going to be able to find that disc easily.

Maybe i should not be posting here because I don't think my problem is a bug in your software but maybe you can help. I have reencoded 83 movies with BD-REBUILDER and this is the first time with two movies i can't get it to reencode. The movies are the french connection and french connection 2 . here is the log from one of the attempts.

HAALI Splitter isn't the recommended version is most likely your problem....delete and re-install version from the first page of this site.

I will try that but i don't think thats the problem because I have reencoded many movies with this version.

I'll try an older version of BD RB some time but the menu of this title definitely makes rb fail.

Since you don't have enough head room in your rebuild to manually substitute the original menus DK, you're going to have to rebuild your flick from scratch.

If the rebuild is corrupting the menu "system", what I've done successfully is:

1) Figure out all the m2ts files in the STREAM folder that make up the menu. VLC media player will play the m2ts.
2) Of those m2ts, note the largest in "MB".
3) Add "MIN_M2TS_SIZE=n" to your INI file, but you change "n" to the largest m2ts noted above + a little "cushion". Let's say 50 to 100MB.

Now BD-RB will leave your menus untouched & they "should" function after rebuild.

FYI, I also had a concert flick that ended up with non-functioning menu buttons because I was keeping only English subtitles. After that, I now keep ALL subtitles just to make sure that wont cause a "menu failure" again.

Good luck!

Hi! JOB: THE_BOOK_OF_ELI Perhaps some help will be available once it can be purchased on or after the official U.S. release date of 6/15 (So that others of us will be able to try to process it)...

A question, I doing my first encode and noticed that even after switching to normal priority, BD-Rebuilder is only using one of my 4 cores. Is this not a multi-threaded? It almost looks like a single x264.exe process is fixed at only using 25% of even my single CPU core and the other 3 are not even being used. It saying almost 24 hrs to reencode a 43GB to BD25.

here are settings:

Adding some more info. People with similar rigs are reporting 6-8 hours to encode AVC but mine is already at 7.5 hrs and only at 35% complete. Has anyone seen speed issues like this? What causes it and why aren't all 4 cores being utilized?

And here is the logs, its only at 35% complete at this point:

My rig is a Q9550 running at 2.83 and I have 4GB memory and am running Windows XP SP3. Board is Gigabyte EP35-DS3R BIOS is F2. The task manager reports 25% CPU usage but the graph shows the first core is pegged to 100%, probably some task manager thing as I would not know why BD-Rebuilder would not be using 100% CPU for such a demanding process of encoding. AnyDVD ripped movie to drive and main stream is about 43GB and I am copying BD-Rebuilder output to another internal SATA drive.

At 37% now and showing these stats at bottom of BD-Rebuilder screen:
Pass: 1/1 Speed: 0.12X ETA: 12:39:42 FPS: 2.90 Frames: 076970/208959

Process tab in task manager shows x264.exe process using 25% and System Idle at 75% but the graph shows the first core pegged to top of graph window.

UPDATE:
So I ran a x264 benchmark to see if that was running any different and compared it to results I had back in Feb and their was definitely something going on. So I removed the Toshiba UDF driver since that was the only recent install and performance in the benchmark improved significantly (see results below).

But I am still seeing this performance in BD-Rebuilder, while its improved from 24+hrs to 16hrs, its still seems longer then most users report
After I removed Toshiba UDF driver and at 5% current progress - > Pass: 1/1 Speed: 0.14X ETA: 16:36:42 FPS: 3.32 Frames: 010440/208959
Now, I have seen reports of peoples encodes only taking 6-8 hours on similar hardware so why am I seeing 16hrs estimate to complete? Any suggestions or things to investigate?

Hi! Perhaps some help will be available once it can be purchased on or after the official U.S. release date of 6/15 (So that others of us will be able to try to process it)...

You seem to get some sort of kick out of highlighting these situations! If you don't like the situation move on and stop embarrassing people into replying to the thread. and don't tell me you don't use Usenet. Sorry jdobbs but I know it is not a bug report but it has to be said. You can delete if you like.

First I want to thank the author for this wonderful software program.
It 's really a complete software but it's making me go crazy because I can't understand the reason of a problem.

I made a BD50 to BD25 full Backup of "My Bloody Valentine" title. I tried all ways to get the subtitles correctly works but without success.

The movie has 3 subtitles (all for the same language). When the movie starts if I press the subtitle key on remote, it's impossible to switch between the 3 subs. Symbol with the ban appears on TV and I can't swiitch over the subtitles.

I made several test also unchecking the "limit to one track for each language" and check "All languages to keep".

Tested on Samsung BD player and on PS3.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help!

P.S.: If I do the same with a commercial software (spam) everything work properly.

Hi!

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I knew some BD and DVD has these limitation but as described if I backup (full backup) the BD with a commercial software (sorry for my previous spam!) all goes ok (I can switch between subtitles).

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I knew some BD and DVD has these limitation but as described if I backup (full backup) the BD with a commercial software (sorry for my previous spam!) all goes ok (I can switch between subtitles).BD-RB doesn't change the logic associated with selecting subtitles. In fact it isn't even touched. So I'd look elsewhere for the cause.

Hi! am running Windows XP SP3

I removed the Toshiba UDF driver Unless you have another UDF 2.50 driver installed, I'd suggest you reinstall the Toshiba driver, as XP SP3 requires the installation of such a driver for fully accessing BluRay discs (Vista and newer have it "built in")

As far as using only one core, do some research regarding Task Manager settings, as it sounds like yours is presently set for "one program, one core"...

Nope. If something has changed it would be on your end. I'd recommend reinstalling the helper apps (including AVISYNTH 2.5.7) and see if that fixes it.

[Edit] I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on my video system with no issues. It is up-to-date with all updates/patches.

Still a no-go with VC1, MPEG2 and H.264 work fine though I tried reinstalling all helper apps using the versions from your 1st post and also letting BD-RB reconfigure the reg settings after running FFRESET.

--edit--
I just downloaded RipBot264 to try re-encoding a MKV with the same VC-1 file and that worked just fine after running the VC-1 Main movie playlist through MakeMKV first but failed trying to do just the M2TS but the end result was excellent thanks to x264 I then tried some other commercial software that also worked but the quality of the encode was shockingly bad for the bitrate.

I attempted to shrink Public Enemies from BD50 to BD25. These are results I got so far:

With highest quality (entire disc) sound fades in and out.

With default (good) quality I got what appears to be excellent results both with entire disc and main movie only. (Watching first few minutes - have not watched entire 2:20:04 movie yet.)

If I had two running at once (entire and main movie, each using different working directories) the second one to finish received an error (sorry, lost it). Running sequentially worked.

Hope this helps.

I may be grasping at straws but if your overheating your CPU cores they will slow down, this is Intel's way of protecting from overheating. Get a can of air and blow the lint and other flotsam from around your CPU Heatsink/fan. A certain prominent figure with BR-Rebuilder had this very issue!

My rig is a Q9550 running at 2.83 and I have 4GB memory and am running Windows XP SP3. Board is Gigabyte EP35-DS3R BIOS is F2.

More straws - There is an update to your BIOS on Gigabyte (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2743&dl=1#bios) that supports Wolfdale/Yorkfield E0 stepping.

Hopefully will help your situation.

Hi,

I've one doubt regarding a option in BD-Rebuilder.
If I leave unchecked both options "Use 448 Kbs for AC3 encondig" and "Don't reencode AC3" then which will be the bitrate of the encoded AC3?

Thanks

DK
16th June 2010, 22:16
Don't reencode AC3 refers to BD output, 448 to BD5/9

So the files will be encoded @ 640kbps instead of 448 or stay as they are, when their bitrate is lower.

Good luck!

Thanks for your advice, raceguy.

I've been busy the last couple of days but I will try what you suggested soon and report back.

:thanks:

I am at a loss...

I'm having the same exact problem, but with the movie Dirty Dancing instead of Toy Story 2. Has anyone found a solution for this yet? We're worried it might happen with more Blu Ray discs.

I did that exact disc (Toy Story 2)... no problem. Take a look at your path. If it is exceptionally long, that may be the issue. A bad rip is also possible.

@raul124 I tried twice to encode Book of Eli, and both times it gave me a 22 GB containerNow that the U.S. version of "The Book of Eli" has been released, I can tell you that I had no problem using BD-RB to convert it to a "movie-only" DVD/BD 5.

I'd suggest you try re-ripping your original BluRay disc...

Is there anything we can do if it's a bad rip? We don't want to start this all over, but if we need to, is there any way to avoid it in the future? The path is short, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I just keep getting this message every time I run BD-RB.

I pressed Yes, I pressed No, the same result. I added BD-RB in ffdshow and no result. Ofc I use Win7DSFilterTweaker to force ffdshow as the default codec in win 7.
