Since no reencoding is necessary, why not just use the original as is? ;)

Ummm, at first I tried to do an exact movie copy with an output of BD25, and when that didn't work then I did a "movie only" copy to see if it made any difference. It didn;t. :(

Thanks for the reply!

I don't use the UAC, I disable it.

As for the audio error, I don't compress the HD audio. Whenever I tried to convert LPCM audio(as well as another type) I would receive same/similar error. So I just keep the HD audio now. Since X264 is so intelligent about compression, one can highly compress video, usually without noticing the difference. The only time I compress, is if I choose DVD output(Naturally). Or of course BD-5 or BD-9, or MKV/MP4.

Let's see the Inspect log???

Ok, so what option is that that I need to change? And where is the Inspect log? I see an option that says "Keep HD Audio for BD25 /Alternate intact". Is that the box I need to check?

:thanks:

OK, I checked the option that says "Keep HD Audio for BD25 /Alternate intact" and ripped it again, this time it seems to have worked perfectly. Funny, that option has never been checked that I know of, and I've never had problems before.

There shouldn't be a problem encoding the HD tracks. I simply don't like doing it myself, unless absolutely necessary. There are some BD's(Rare) that will benefit from the extra space. Inspect.exe is located in the bdrebuilder folder.

that encode type is this? , Quality: EQ6_Mode, Two Pass (ENCODE_QUALITY=6)

The most I had seen it ENCODE_QUALITY = 4 ultra high quality

4 is as high as it goes for user encoding. Any others are meant for special testing.

Here are the results of my Inspect log:

- Windows Version: 6.1 [7601]
- AVISYNTH Version: [2.5.8.0], Ok
- HAALI Splitter: [1.9.42.1], Ok
- FFDSHOW: [3326], Ok
- WIN7 preferred AVC CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred VC-1 CODEC: Not Set correctly
- WIN7 preferred MPEG2 CODEC: Not Set correctly
- FFDSHOW VC-1 set to "wmv9", Ok
- FFDSHOW MPEG2 set to "libmpeg2": Ok
- FFDSHOW AVC set to "libavcodec": Ok
- AnyDVD settings check: Ok.
- BD Rebuilder v0.42.0.4, Ok
- X264: Ok
- AFTEN: Ok
- FAAC: Ok
- MP4BOX: Ok
- WAVI: Ok
- TSMUXER: Ok

I just downloaded and installed ffdshow_rev3326_20100319_clsid.exe
then reran Inspect and that is now OK.

I've also read the first message in this thread and can't find a way to fix the issues with FFDShow not being configured correctly because it says I'm not running it as administrator. I've also run FF_RESET.bat but it opens a DOS command prompt window that says the path was not found and that I need to run it as administrator, but this is after right clicking FF_RESET and selecting "Run as administrator" so I don't know what I gotta do to set the environment variable so that the path can be found. Any help there would be appreciated.

Anybody know how to fix my incorrect CODEC preferences?
:thanks:

@D-Train61

Next time you run it, when the message is waiting for you to hit any key... don't hit a key. Go to the BD-Rebuider folder and look for a file called "FF_CONFIGURE.BAT". Open it with notepad and post the contents here.

It sounds like something in that BAT file has a bad path associated with it. If we look at the contents we may be able to see what it is.

Where did you install BD Rebuilder (what path did you use)?

Downloaded latest version 0.42.07 of BD Rebuilder Beta and ripped The Last Emperor. But 2 audio tracks refuse to rebuild. This is what is displayed when the movie files are loaded:

http://i47.tinypic.com/1y3b7b.jpg
.
http://i46.tinypic.com/xmrigk.jpg

I double-clicked the 2 entires, and the red X was replaced by the same icon that shows the other audio tracks enabled. But when I add the project to the batch cue and click 'Batch' to start the process, I can click the 'Stream' tab and see the two audio tracks were disabled again.

I discovered this after I let the complete process to run, and found the director's commentary track for the main movie was not ripped.

Thoughts?

In the settings do you have it limited to only 1 audio track per language? And do you have Italian chosen as a language?

That seems to have fixed things. The 2 tracks are now shown enabled after changing those settings. I'll try building a new set a files. Thanks so much Adbear.

You have to be careful with audio tracks, especially in batch jobs. There are several actions that can force BD-RB to rescan the source (like changing a setting, editing the Config file, or browsing for a file) -- causing the audio selections to revert back to the defaults. If you wish to change the audio selections (from the default) for a batch job, you should make that change immediately before adding the job to the queue.

@jdobbs:
Source is 640x480p 25fps / 4:3 DAR / 1:1 PAR (PAL TV capture)
- Importing with BD RB "Use DEINTERLACER on interlaced sources" disabled converts it to 1280x720i (MBAFF) 25fps / --sar 12:11 which is not Blu-ray compliant
- Importing with BD RB "Use DEINTERLACER on interlaced sources" enabled converts it to 1280 x 720p 25fps / --fake-interlace / --sar 12:11 which is not blu-ray compliant

I think the bug is with the resizing:
It should be resized to 704 x 576p 25fps, AddBorders(8,0,8,0) => 720x576p 25fps / --fake-interlace / --sar 12:11

Perhaps you may look at it. I'll check it out. I'm not sure where the 1280x720i is coming from??? It should simply convert it to 720x576. You don't have that box selected in SETUP to convert SD to 720p HD, do you?

[Edit] Ok. I found the error. It has been corrected for the next release.

hello
bug in blu-ray structure, perfectly reproduce the original files with ArcSoft TotalMedia 5 and PowerDVD 12 . I tried the blu-ray structure of 100% without doing anything, and the result is that the menu is locked and do not leave the contents of the menu: (

Helo Mr. Dobbs, and thanks for responding to my post.

And I installed BD_Rebuilder right in the root of my home folder C:\Users\Inspiron\BD-RB\BD-Rebuilder
Note that the first letter of the name Inspiron has a funny initial letter Ì with a strange accent mark above it. Could this be a contributing factor? (I have no idea why this is named this way)
Thanks again for your help. :thanks:

I have updated the first post of this thread with links to a new version of BD-RB (v0.42.08). Changes for this release:- Changed the maximum value of the MULTIPROCESS
function from 16 to 32 for extremely high-end
multi-core processors.
- Modified LAVF encodes to explicitly indicate the
target framerate for X264.
- Corrected an error in which DVD_IMPORT_THRESHOLD
(see HIDDENOPTS.TXT) was calculated at twice its
intended value, and the default threshold was 30
minutes rather than the intended 15.
- Corrected an error in the IMPORT function where
importing a source that has a width of less than
720 pixels could cause a resize to 1280x720 and
an output stream that is not compliant.
- Made modifications so that non-compliant original
sources that use 480p or 576p are corrected into
compliancy during encoding (by using the X264
--fake-interlaced switch).
- Added code to remove overscan when outputting to
non-DVD ALTERNATE output formats.
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

I'm using the search and found no infoBelow is the text from the X264 description. A google search should provide more detail. But, honestly, it's better to leave it at the default unless you have a specific reason for changing it.Enables use of explicit weighted prediction to improve compression
in P-frames. Also improves quality in fades. Higher modes are slower.

NOTE: When encoding for Adobe Flash set this to 1 - its decoder generates artifacts
otherwise. Flash 10.1 fixes this bug.

no, I only use bdrebuilder for bluray 1:1.
Then option 2 (2. Smart: fade duplication analysis and reference.) Is the best but it takes more time, right?

* ps: soon I'll make a test with multiprocess = 32 and one with multiprocess = 1 be the difference

I think that WEIGHTP=2 is not always Blu-ray friendly, so the recommended setting is WEIGHTP=1.

can someone explain me this point?

from the same ISO, Other Movie Only playlist

Why when i choose a 50Gb custom target, the final ISO is 17Gb in size (no reencode)

and when i choose BD25, the final ISO size is 23Gb and videos have been reencoded?

Same problem with Alien Vs Predator.
BD Input is 25,60Gb (with all languages and I keep only FR), when I choose 25Gb BD-RB needs reencode but when I choose 42Gb output no needs reencode for a final ISO size of 20,7Gb...
It's not the first time I've seen that

JDobbs, I just finished a rebuild of Snow White and the Huntsman (barcode 5050582919424), (think i've mentioned it before but probably got overlooked):

Original Anydvd rip: all sound is in both PDVD11 & TMT 5 ok (both theatrical & extended release)
BDRB rebuild: Not ok
=> PDVD11: no sound whatsoever on any release (theatrical or extended) on any of the listed english soundtracks (removed the others, 1x japanese, 1x french and 2x spanish)
=> TMT5: defaults descriptive track (track 1?) swapping to sound track 5: yields above result no sound
=> VLC: playing individual video files = audio behaves as it should
=> standalone panasonic DMP-bd85 = no sound

That movie has a really goofy Java menu that makes it impossible to play correctly with TMT5, at least on my system anyhow. I had to do speed menu even to play original disk. I had to do a "Movie Only" rebuild to get it to play nicely.

If x264 is set to use "--bluray-compat" it will ignore weight p value, if it is set to 2. Instead it will always default to 1 during encode. This is true even if you set it in BD-RB hidden option to 2 for weight p.

If that were the issue the original wouldn't okay either. The rip works just fine on the whole menu. Its the MOVIE that doesn't get sound when i play the bdrb rebuild. The menu is not the problem.

With v0.42.08 I'm having a few challenges.

With Thin Ice, movie only. There is a beginning 00026.m2ts which is 7 seconds long, then 00034.m2ts that contain the movie. It seems BD-RB starts the audio 7 seconds too soon.

Also Total Recall 2012 movie only, there are 2 versions of the movie, theatrical & extended. But when I look at the movie-only playlists i see a 20 minute & a 25 minute version, 8 & 6 chapters. These should be 118 minutes & 130 minutes.

i think the "Input BD size" calculated doesn't take into account that some audio tracks have been deselected. if you take all tracks or only french the input size is always the same.

A bug i found i think in 42.08.

Settings: Enable_test=1, enable_blanking=0: with this setting one should get the option for movies and menu only mode but NOT be able to blank. This is not working as it should. You can still enter the edit mode (via double clicking) and start blanking. EVEN in "FULL Backup" mode. Pretty sure this shouldn't be possible. Unless i'm wrong, blanking should only be possible under "movie & menu's" mode?

Perhaps but I don't think it's the only thing because when I choose BD25, Target BD Size is 22,95Gb and Input BD Size is 21,72Gb in the case of Total Recall (all languages included) so it would fit without reencode. I will make a new test tomorrow (to be sure)

Found another bug: the output_path doesnt work as expected. Under [options] i've set "OUTPUT_FOLDER=Y:\BDRB Rebuilds" (minus the quotes ofc), and the folder is present on the external drive ( Y: ). However the ISO file created did NOT get moved to the drive. The folder was not present at the time of starting the rebuild & iso burning but i cought it in time & created the folder on the drive before the iso creation was complete. I checked the IMGBurn log and it listed "I 19:54:12 Destination File: C:\TEMP\SWATH_G55.ISO", shouldn't this be "Y:\BRDB Rebuilds"

and in followup to my initial report at post http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1608602&postcount=16433. I've narrowed down the problem i think, but it'll be up to you i think to fix it. I restarted snow white on full disc mode, as said in that post all audio streams but the english ones are removed. HOWEVER, when selecting either english track, the audio problem starts. The thing is, in order to get it to correctly play the HD audio, i have to select a track that got REMOVED (such as the french one). When i pull up the information for the stream in PDVD under audio it simply sais "DTS-HD", it is not untill i select the foreign track (to pull up the good sound odd enough) that the information changes to "DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 <bitrate here>"

TMT information window sais about the audio "Dolby Digital 192kbps", selecting any foreign track swaps to HD audio and the information in TMT changes to "DTS-HD MSTR"

The behavior is consistent in both PDVD 11 & TMT5.3.1.146 for both the cinematic & theatrical version. Select english = no sound, select french = correct hd audio
My standalone remains stubborn: selecting a foreign track does NOT result in english audio. Neither does going back to the root menu and select a foreign language title menu.

That's all i can tell you, but the complicated may be to blame. Basically its like this "Disc root menu to select title menu language > language title menu with option to pick cinematic or extended version. This is one tough rebuild if you need me to test something i'd be glad to help

I was wrong, with Total Recall and Input BD Size of 21,72Gb, there is no reencode when I choose BD25.
So I think like you, BD-RB don't consider languages when there are multiple files.

I'm sure JDobbs could say so too,... he's a smart guy.

But couldn't you just do your own tests to confirm the problem? Try surrounding your target with quotes (as suggested by ADbear), or using an underscore character instead of the space, and see if that works better?

I had the same problem with this movie, I think that BD Rebuilder is not using the correct stream numbers in the MLPS when you remove some audio tracks, in my case the spanish track was 1201 but BDRebuilder used 1202 (Director's Comments) resulting in improper playback, it can be manually fixed using BDEdit, but since is a multiangle movie you have to modify several MLPS with several M2TS (and you have to change both stream number and stream type).

@robertM: i'll wait for jdobbs. The snow white issue is more "urgent" and alot more complicated
@SqualMX: i've got NO experience with BDEDit, if it is not too complicated to do i would be happy to send you the mpls files (in case my version is a little different from yours) so you can tell me WHAT i need to edit, where i need to edit it and into what. It's strange though, play the seperate m2ts files in VLC and the proper audio is used. Play it in PDVD, TMT or standalone and there's either no or the wrong sound. Very weird. First disc that i've encountered this with and i have other discs with that same menu structure of "chose title menu language > pick movie version (normal or extended) & play" and those worked fine

Standalone and Blu-ray software players uses the information stored on the MLPS files if the info is wrong obviously you get playback problems, VLC uses only the data available inside the M2TS.

If you want help with BDEdit I can help you, I will need the MLPS and if you can also the MediaInfo scans of at least one main movie M2TS.

Well since this is a debug thread, lets not get offtopic. i'd suggest we take this into pm. Lemme know what i need, where to get it and how i find what you need. The rest is also upto jdobbs, there's obviously something going wrong during the rebuild since the original rip plays fine.

JDobbs, the new 42.08 won't do a 2 pass high quality encode it keeps selecting one pass ABR encoding. I ran 42.07 and it works fine and will do a 2 pass.

Do you have "Settings/Encoder settings/Automatic quality settings" ticked? If so, just untick it :)
