View Full Version : BD Rebuilder Beta - Bug Reports Only

I just finished a Full Backup of "A Good Day to Die Hard" with no issues using BD-RB with default settings.
I'll set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0 and look at what is happening. But I would highly recommend that you not use it for standard backups. There's just nothing to be accomplished by deciding to reencode 16KB files other than making things harder. This disc has almost no startups to blank.
Any suggestions on how to blank the warnings then?

This link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1635190#post1635190) explains why you're not see activity on the second pass using "--opencl"
then, as I understand it, only used "OpenCL" on the first pass?
right?

Players are a lot different. Decoders, like FFDShow, and X264/LAVF require near flawless data. If you have a bad rip, these utilities will discover it. A bad press, scratched disc, or an improperly decrypted disc, or finicky optical drive can cause issues.

the issue is when i try to compress to 25gb... Playing is easy... a player can skip over errors and pick up at the next comprehensible point. But you can't do that when reencoding. Playing doesn't indicate "no errors".
[Edit] Hmm... guess I should have read the next message before answering. So... what omegaman7 said!

@Capsbackup
I looked at what happens when 01288.m2ts of "A Good Day to Die Hard" is being processed. It isn't hanging on the encode, BD-RB has gotten itself into a forever loop looking for playlist interrelationships. I'll look at it tomorrow and get a fix into the next release.

Well I guess I am pleased that it wasn't just my settings causing the problem! ;)
Thanks for your persistence finding and solving this "partial" user inflicted problem. :p
(I will set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=100 for BD-25 backups)

(I will set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=100 for BD-25 backups) Yes, I'd recommend you keep it at 100 for all except when you have decided to blank. But for blanking there really isn't a lot of choice, since some of the annoying popups would be less than that.
I've fixed the issue for the next release (I'll probably post it later today or tomorrow depending on testing). With that one you should be able to set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0 with no problems.
Thanks for the heads-up on this bug.

Perhaps I will keep MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0, and continue to test with it this way for the next several backups. :)

Ok, so I backed up
" Green Lantern Extended Cut " Blu-Ray
to a 25GB disc and I had encoded it using the parameter
DTSX_ENABLE=1
I noticed in BD-Rebuilder the secondary picture sound file was now automatically selected, whereas is was not selectable before adding the above parameter.
I was certain this would have worked flawlessly but when I
played the disc, still no PiP sound.
I am playing off the burned BD-25 disc on my PC using (tested in) both
PowerDVD 9
PowerDVD 10 <--- This is the latest I have. Sorry.
On integrated 7.1 HD Suround Sound, (yes ! all speakers turned on by the way).
Made sure that in the on screen disply I enabled both
PiP Video
and
PiP Audio to English ( the only track ).
but still no PiP sound. Only the main movie sound is playing.
(turned off the main movie sound for testing too. No luck).
Note: PiP Video and Audio is working correctly on my system off of Original Blu-Ray discs.

That is a known issue and for the moment unsolveable. For some reason pdvd doesn't like the way bdrb mixes the pip video back in. I have the same issue. Pdvd is a nogo on the backup but on the standalone it works just fine.

Instead of a Movie-Only backup of the "Play All" playlist, why wouldn't you just do a "Quick-Play Backup"?
Jdobbs, I finally tested Quick-Play Backup and I have an answer to your question: Because in Quick-Play Backup BD-RB won't let me force a subtitle on.

Is there another player (software) preferably free that will play it properly ? I have already tested Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (64-bit) 1.6.7.7114 and it doesn't even open the BD discs properly and go to the movie menu.
I have also failed to be able to play the Blu-Ray rips from BD-Rebuilder directly off of the Hard Drive.
Has anyone found the solution to these?

I prefer to use Arcsoft TMT. Not sure how it is with PiP though.

Playing the rip is rather easy. Just drag the main folder that holds the BDMV & certificate folder in them into PDVD and you're good to go

Hello,
is there any way to increase BDRB processing speed?
My machine is a siemens fujitsu rx600 server with 4 x intel xeon 3 GHz - each of them can handle two threads.
Even BDRB uses all eight threads the overall processor load is only about 42 %.
How can I change that?
Greetings from Germany

Greetings from GermanySet the number of x264 instances you'd like running concurrently with the MULTIPROCESS hidden option. See HIDDENOPTS.TXT for documentation.
[Edit] Be careful, though. Pass 2 uses more CPU than pass 1 -- and setting MULTIPROCESS too high can actually give you diminishing returns.

I've updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest release of BD-RB (v0.44.15). Changes for this version:- Added a new hidden setting. SUP_3D_DEPTH can
be adjusted to add addition depth to subtitles
Any value of 0 to 50 can be used. The higher
the value, the closer the subtitles appear to
the viewer.
- Changed chapter detection in DVD import so that
is if pulled from PTS headers in cells rather
than IFO times (to correct for poor authoring
found on some DVDs).
- Corrected an issue in which the wrong resizing
algorithm was used for downsizing 1920x1080 to
1440x1080.
- Updated algorithm to provide a better starting
CRF value when resizing to 1440x1080 and 720p.
Only applies to one-pass CRF mode.
- Corrected CRF prediction so that a quick hit
does not result in an off-target final
approximation.
- Fixed an issue in which outputting to an intact
MKV file from a telecined source could result
in audio/video out-of-sync.
- Added a workaround for a problem in ALTERNATE
DVD-5 output in which a working path containing
a "&" character could cause rebuilding to fail.
- Fixed an issue in which importing series DVDs
that have multiple episodes within a single PGC
could have a continually increasing audio de-
sychronization.
- Corrected a problem in which certain very rare
authoring circumstances could cause BD-RB to
lock in a forever loop.
- Updated BD-RB and INSPECT to accept an newer
version of FFDSHOW (r4504) as "correct".
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2345).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2345).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Thanks :) Yes, I updated the link. It isn't really necessary to update, as I don't think it really has any positive impact on BD Rebuilder itself. But, it is a later release of FFDSHOW, so there may be some other package that would benefit from it.
I usually run an FFDSHOW release for a month or two before adding it to the list, and then start testing another one. Some of the issues I've experienced in the past took a while to manifest (needing some unique circumstances) and that's why I test it for so long.

The option for MP4, 1280x720, AutoGOP, Auto-AAC is listed twice in the mode settings. Is this intentional or by mistake? Or did I misread/misunderstand it?

That just doesn't work.
I prefer to use Arcsoft TMT. Not sure how it is with PiP though.
That's an expensive player. If it doesn't play PiP or even open Blu-Ray discs correctly off the Hard drive, how is this relevant to the question ?
OK.
So if I can't use PiP there is no point in encoding it onto the back-up 25GB BD disc and taking up space and reducing the quality of the main movie.
Can anyone tell me how to exclude all the PiP videos from the BD-Rebuilder list to re-encode, please.

You asked :) Yes, you said you "Prefer" free. But I was simply giving my 2 cents. It may be "Expensive", but it is a pretty versatile player :p

Then you're not doesn't not doing it right or have a player that doesn't support it. Dragging the disc root folder works just fine for me in pdvd 11,13 tmt 5 and tmt 6

Discovered a problematic title: House at the End of the Street (2012), by 20th Century Fox. English DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio, with English and Spanish subs. Disc contains both Theatrical and Unrated cuts by splitting the movie into several small files. A while back I ran a Full Backup of the disc on 0.44.xx (before 0.44.14) and the output suffered from very glitchy video. I decided to wait for a new version of BD-RB to try again later.
A couple of weeks ago I tried to make a movie-only "1080p with Intact Audio" MKV of the shorter movie on 0.44.14 (2-pass, target size 8100MB). The process failed during "Building Alternate Output Structure" with error message "ERROR in attempt to mux (MKVMERGE)". Again, I put the disc aside to wait for a new version of BD-RB.
Today I ran the same MKV output task again on 0.44.15, with the same result. Here's the log:

Also, noticed there's actually a (broken) 3.68GB MKV in the temp directory, so BD-RB errored out in the middle of the task.

I am also getting a Failed To Rebuild message for Taken 2. (I've rebuilt many movies and never encountered this problem before...)
I have attached the log, although it doesn't have much information. Please let me know if there is something else that I can provide that would help.
This is a wonderful tool and I truly appreciate all of your hard work with it!Please update to the most recent release and see if you problem still exists. I've made many fixes to ALTERNATE output since v0.44.3.

I have the N.A. version, Canadian, of Taken 2. I'll do an encode and try to follow HomeDepot4's settings to see on which end the problem lies if you wish.

@jdobbs
I have the N.A. version, Canadian, of Taken 2. I'll do an encode and try to follow HomeDepot4's settings to see on which end the problem lies if you wish. Thanks, I'm ripping it now.
Hopefully it is the same issue as colinhunt is seeing on "House at the End of the Street" -- I ran that one earlier with no issues, but my disc is obviously different than his as the playlist doesn't match.

I previously did Taken 2 to 1920x1080 DD640 with no issues. Could it be the resizing or a x264 tweak causing the issue?

Yes I did, I primarily use MKV now a days for my HTPC. Still do the odd BD25 when the extras are worth it.
