Ch3vr0n : Wrong, The Dark Knight is all in HD except for the PiP content that is not concerned by this setting. Batman Begins is an older release with most of his bonuses coming from the DVD release. Transforming an old 29,97fps SD content to 59.94fps 720p is not a neutral process. It can give good result, and it can fail! Beyond that, you shouldn't compare 2 different releases, even if it's the same bat guy who plays on it! About the Audio, you should try, to see if it comes from the HD track.

Guess you didnt read my post fully. I noticed it was upscaling so i said i redid the job without upscaling. That the pip doesnt have audio i don't care. My issue is why doesn't it play on my player when the dark knight does and they both use the same VC-1 codec. Begins works fine on my comp. Even upgraded the players firmware but to no avail. It hangs at title 1, i can pull up the pop-up menu but the screen stays black and movie doesnt begin

Guess you didnt read my post fully. I noticed it was upscaling so i said i redid the job without upscaling...Post the good log so :
[17:29:47] Reencoding: VID_00027 (9 of 17)
- [17:29:47] Collecting video information
- Source Video: MPEG-2, 720x480
- Rate/Length: 29,970fps, 25.595 frames
- Convert: 1280x720, 59,940fps, 51.190 frames
...

Now, I repeat, each release are different even if it's another Batman with the same format. I will not teach you anything in saying that not only Batman BD are encoded in VC-1. I already gave you a few differences between these two releases, I will give you another : The Dark Knight has no PiP. So if your movie don't launch somewhere, try to remove the PiP from the process in adding in the config file : PROCESS_SECONDARY=0 . You didn't have the PiP sound already? Let remove the image! However, in doing this, you should retrieve the main movie and have a stutter free playback on other players. My two cents it's a slight PiP compatibility issue!... Maybe... Maybe not... Who knows!... If it works, as IlPorcospino, I will make you a 1 cent rebate!

K i'll try that and burn it to a blank bd-re. Don't want a coaster ^^ can be a couple days till i know if it works. Aint got a bd-player at home, only at my mom's where i visit every week. Ill keep you posted :) If you think so it may be related to the pip yes, cause its weird. In PDVD 10 i can display it fine but without audio (main movie audio plays) and in TMT3 its the exact opposite. The movie plays but with VERY jittery audio and not the main audio so i assume its the pip audio. Maybe thats the issue. I've backed up VC-1 discs before so that can't be the problem. I'll get back to you

Hi chompy,

As suggested by SoniG I added ''AUDIO_AMPLIFY=1' to the .ini file and it now correctly skips re-encoding.

Ok, after some tests, adding AUDIO_AMPLIFY=1 to BD-REBUILDER.INI still reencodes my original AC3@640Kbps tracks :confused::confused:

@ chompy - and you definitely don't have 'Use 448kbps for AC3 encoding' ticked in the Setup dialog?

Sorry to come here with a probably easy to answer question, but due to a lack of time for reading 408 pages I decided to post here the following:

What do I have to do (or set up program) when I just want to keep DTS Sound (not DTS-HD) without automatically get it recoded to AC3 ? This does not seem to work when the BD is already ripped completely to HDD and THEN using BDrebuilder to do a movie only backup. (??) I always get AC3 then...

iSeries
11th May 2010, 19:35
@ candyman_09 - what output size are you using? If BD5 or BD9 BD-RB will re-encode to AC3 as DTS is not allowed on AVCHD. If BD-25 you only need to tick 'Do not convert DTS to AC3' in the BD-RB setup dialog.

candyman_09
11th May 2010, 19:51
Yes, thank you, iSeries, this time I got DTS with the settings you described (since I needed complete output I used a custom size of 47.500) . I just was confused by the info-screen of BDrebuilder, which showed AC3=1 DTS=0 HD=1 . That looks like DTS is disabled or something...
Thanks agaín...

btw. it could be helpful to have a BD50 option for output...

@ chompy - and you definitely don't have 'Use 448kbps for AC3 encoding' ticked in the Setup dialog?

Yes, sure, the original AC3 is 640kbps and the reencoded one has also 640kbps... As it's a movie only, I've just remuxed the BD-Rebuilder result changing the reencoded AC3 with the original track, it's easy, but quite annoying.

SoniG
11th May 2010, 20:41
candyman_09 : DTS=0 just means DTS tracks are not reencoded to AC3.

chompy : You right, adding AUDIO_AMPLIFY=1 only prevent to make any level modification to audio track. However, the amplification is still processed (as 100%) and I already point this out to jdobbs. Having said that, this task is not a reencode but more a sound process and should not really produce any degradation.

I'm trying to code my first rip for the iPad. I get the same error if I choose LPCM audio or AC3 audio. I selected iPad MP4 HD as the alternate output. Thanks.

wensteph : First you should update BD Rebuilder to the last beta version 0.33.06, most of all for an iPad output. After updated and tested again, if it fails, go to your BD Rebuilder folder, run inspect.exe and post the result here.

I don't agree with you, every time you compress something from a compressed format you'll always lose something: MP3 -> WAV -> MP3 (the second will be worse even if it's reencoded at a higher bitrate), JPEG -> TIFF -> JPEG (the second will be worse even if it's saved with less compression)... And I think this can also be applied to AC3 -> WAV -> AC3

Hello .. a doubt about "audio" ..

I mostly do 50 BLU to 25 BLU fullbackup..so if a BLURAY, has DTS ENGLISH and DTS ENGLISH SPANISH .
it is posible to leave the ENGLISH track of DTS and just reencode the SPANISH track to 5.1??

since by the choices you can leave both tracks (dts) untouched or reencode both in 5.1...

any help is welcome!

ps: sorry for my english!!

chompy : Of course it should be the logical mind, however I will not too much enter into advanced technical purposes, but the Dolby compression is a specific acoustic compression algorithm that when decoded, raw processed, reencoded don't really impact the audio PSNR. At a same bitrate, most of the global informations are lost at the first encode. As when you do a high quality reencode of your Blu Ray to AVC at the same bitrate. However I have the same quality concern as you and I already suggested jdobbs to remove this process when the amplification is set to 1.

EDUDE : Unfortunately it is not possible. If you do a 25GB backup, one more DTS track should not too much impact your image quality. Otherwise, if you have time to waste and are motivate, the only trick I see for you is to manually demux the main movie, reencode the spanish track, remux, reeinject this to your BD structure and open BB Rrebuilder to finish the job (or begin it, following your point of view! :)).

i did Toy Story to 25gb bdr and it encoded the wrong audio so when im playing it hear the directors in the background, never had this happen before, how do i know which one when i select it, is going to be the right english audio, cause it normally always picks the first english audio and there are Red X's on the foreign languages and other audios?

Evening guys. I am having an issue backing up Gran Torino. I am using AnyDVD HD (6.6.4.2 - latest version) to back it up. Also using BD Rebuilder v0.33.06, to back it up to BD-5, encoder settings to Highest quality. The process runs to success, with no errors. The problem lies when it crosses over to chapter 19, the audio/video goes out of sync. I confirmed that the backup itself does not have this issue. I've even re-encoded it twice, and still having the same issue. Would someone be so kind as to tell me what's gone wrong? It's been working perfectly backing up many disks over the course of the past month or so (other than Sin City, that is) and I'd like to get this figured out. Thanks very much!

Suggestions?

Update. Good call, SoniG. I had BD-RB open when I installed the update. I trashed the BD-RB folder and upzipped everything new to there. Other Movie Only output coded fine. I have not tried to copy it into the iTunes library yet.
Note to jdobbs if you are following this thread just in case it may make some difference. I could still get a good rebuild on a "normal" movie only rebuild. Whatever issues I had only came up with the Other Movie Only output.

kanerulz69 : Your log is too long, please edit your post in deleting the log and attach it as a .txt file. Please also give me the audio tracks (enabled and disabled) of the main movie listed on BD Rebuilder.

wensteph : It's not logical BD Rebuilder version is not good, I suspect you to have unzipped the new version while BD Rebuilder was still running. Please close all, and even delete your old BDRB folder and unzip the new one. Your inspect.exe log seems to not be complete, where is the 'FAAC: Ok' line for example?

I'm new to this forum but I have a question about the movie only backup. I've backed up several discs using the movie only option without reencoding bc they can fit on a bd25. However, I noticed that when I played these backups on my sony 450 and I hit the display button it shows an output of 1080p/60. When I put the original disc in it shows 1080p/24. Does the rebuilder change it from 24 to 60? Or am I just trippin out? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If there is no reencoding, BD-RB does not change anything.
You could check the settings on your Sony, I believe there is an auto detect ( or something like that ), or set it to play back 1080P/24 as default. My S360 works fine with auto detect, but my older BX1 needed the setting changed to play back 1080/24.

I noticed something strange when i ripped Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. I have it set to rip to bd-25 and I'm using version 0.33.06. When I tried to rip the whole disc the tsmuxer would crash. But, ripping just the main movie works just fine. Something about stream 5 it doesn't like. Is it possible it hangs on the BD-Live portion?

Here is the log if it helps.

I had no problem with a full backup to BD25.

I feel sheepish, I forgot to turn on AnyDVD. Doesn't do much good to try an rip a blu-ray while its encrypted.

@bessmertni, Are you trying to run BD_Rebuilder on a BD disk that is in the tray? If so then you need to right click fox and copy video file to harddrive. BD_Rebuilder takes forever to copy from disk and takes up a lot of cpu cycles to copy and then encode. If you are just running BD_Rebuilder from a BD_Folder you don't need AnyDVD HD running anymore.

How can I keep the HD audio, all of it not just the core when using something other than BD25? Sometimes it would be nice to use the custom target size and take a 20gb movie only and compress it down to 10Gb but keep DTS-MA.Can this be done,if so how?I know BD5 or BD9 you can't do this with BDRebuilder, but what about custom target size,or the hidden options?

I'm past the point of caring about this particular movie; I'm asking this in general terms. I know BD-RB works to code an iPad size movie. I've coded several and successfully had them recognized by ITunes and they play back fine.

The audio for Good Luck Check is giving me fits. The audio choices are LPCM Multi-Ch, AC3 Multi-Ch and AC3 Stereo. The first two give me the soundtrack and effects without character dialogue. In AC3 stereo I get soundtrack, dialogue and the directors comments. Is it just this particular movie or is there something I'm missing?

Edit. I guess my real question is when doing a Other Movie Only, in general terms, is there a particular audio stream or combination of streams I should select? Or is it all trial and error?

Hello .. a doubt about "audio" ..

Not yet, but that'll be added eventually.

This extra just happens to be longer than the main movie, thus BD-RB chooses it first. Though, for the most part, BD-RB is fairly simple to use, it does require some user intervention on some discs like this. :p
If you select mode, then Alternate Movie-Only Playlist, you will then see the other options available for the movie. It is usually a good idea to check this on movie-only backups, since some movies have multiple playlists that may have different chapter counts, so you can try to be selective for the correct one. :)

I have been using BDRebuilder for some time but recently my desktop failed to load so I have to delete the user and create a new one. After that I can't use BDRebuilder anymore. I have tried to reinstall all the components but still no luck. Everything seems to check out OK. Any particular area I need to look for fix? I wish the info can point out the where the problem is.

Looks like i can keep my 1 cent. The recoded disc with disabled secondairy stream also hanged at the point where the movie should start playing, but the pop-up menu was able to get pulled up. Weird

Anyway, i've seen the movie by now. Its just a weird issue

Hello

I'm having trouble with a custom BD size in BD Rebuilder ... In the last try with a version 33.04 I got a file with the size of 21.9 GB (23,607,061,476 bytes) after I put 23800 in the custom field. I had trouble with one of the earlier versions, when I was getting the same size several times, no matter the input in the custom size field. Whatever custom size I chose, it seems that somehow the final file is far from the real capacity of 25gb BD-R. Or maybe I'm totally mislead with the amount of space on BD-R disc. I think it should be something like this: 25 GB / 23866 MiB / 25025314816 B. Forgive me if I'm talking rubish, but I'm far from expert on this. And maybe there was a discussion about some similar problems (if this is a problem at all), but 400+ pages is too much for me.

By the way, THANKS for this great program ... The quality of BD movie, even when it's shrinked more than it should be, is just amazing ...

You're getting about 5% undersize, which is not bad at all. If you use high-quality or/and two-pass settings it is possible that x264 didn't need more bitrate to encode your movie. :) + you get about 1mm off the edge of the disc unused and it is one of the areas which can be easily scratched.

It is also the area where burn quality deteriorates rapidly. It's not a problem if you have a good BD writer (e.g. Pioneer BDR-205, LG BH08) and high quality media. I've had the misfortune of buying media made by OTC which under no circumstances should be written faster than 2x and no more than 21GB, unless one wishes to have playback problems.

Thanks for the answers ...

Well, in that case it's better to use predefined BD-R 25 size, which puts the file to 22.6GB as I remember ... By the way, I'm using Pioneer BD203 with the latest firmware and I use only Verbatim and Panasonic DL media. I never had any problems, even with a full capacity burns.

I've just updated the first post of this thread with a link to the newest beta release of BD-RB (v0.33.07). Changes for this release:- Modified the AVS format so that AssumeFramerate() is
always used. This is meant to prevent mistaken or
miscalculated rates during the reencoding process and
also avoids possible rounding errors.
- Changed settings on the iPad ALTERNATE settings to take
advantage of CABAC and B-FRAMES.
- Corrected an "ExtractAudioSubs() 00053 1605" error that
could occur in movie-only mode for features that consist
of a large number of combined M2TS files.
- Corrected an issue in which frames could be lost and a
"stutter" could be seen between segments of a seamlessly
branched film when doing a full backup.
- Added a hidden option "SHUTDOWN_SLEEP=1" which will make
the "Shutdown after Rebuild" option on the FILE menu to
"Sleep after Rebuild" instead.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1583).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes. Sorry for the delay between releases. I managed to fit a short holiday in there... :)

Error in movie only output (first ever attempt at one normally do Full BD25s)

Fully run to the error on the previous version but noticed you just uploaded a newer version downloaded that and tried to continue with the same error.

Don't really want to do the full encode with the latest version just posted unless something has changed that will correct this.
