@jdobbs;
I have a second XP Pro installation on a seperate hard drive, since I like knowing I can boot from either drive if one has a problem.
I have not used that OS for some time, so after booting to it, updating antivirus and windows, I unzip a fresh BD-RBV03302, and run the inspect tool to check things out.
I get the message that " HAALI Splitter: Isn't recommended version", so I uninstall the one I have, run Regedit, delete all entries of Haali, reboot and download the one from the first page of your thread.
After installing that one, I reboot, and run the inspect tool again, but I get the same message.:confused:
MatroskaSplitter says 1.9.42.1.
I have not tried BD-RB yet, but why would I get this message from your download version?

Thank you kindly. You were exactly correct! :)

Hi!

how can I use "Hiddenopts"

Rebuilder keeps on ignoring TWEAK_PASS
although it says " - X264 Tweak(s) enabled"

i have them in the following format: TWEAK_PASS_ONE= --slices 0 --keyint 250 --min-keyint 25 --b-pyramid normal --bframes 5 --ipratio 1.4 --pbratio 1.4

EDIT: found the problem, it puts my options after the other options and the first option is taken, i think this is a BUG

thanks in advance!

Hi jdobbs and all,

If I run a project and keep the original movie size at 1080P, keeping the main languages subs, the forced subs will automatically display. The standard subs are off by default but can be enabled at any time by the player’s subs on/off option. This is how I like so as to be the same as the original movie.

But if I run the same project but resize from 1080P to 720P the forced subs do not display automatically. I have to turn on the subs on the player but then I get all the subs and not just the forced subs. If I was to set subs to on in BD_RB then I guess I will get all subs on again and not just the forced subs.

Question is: How to setup BD_RB to just show forced subs defaulted to ON when resizing from 1080P to 720P?
:thanks:

I guess you're aware that except for --ipratio 1.4 --pbratio 1.4 all of the other options you're using will produce non-compliant Blu-ray disc which probably won't play in any hardware player, aren't you?

my player worked with a test stream i encoded that way, so for me there seems to be no problem!

it gives much better qual. so i would really like to use those options

The Blu-ray spec is a massive subset of what Blu-ray players actually support, since most Blu-ray players use chipsets designed for general H.264 decoding.

userNo it's NOT a bug. That's how it's supposed to work. Any options you enter will override earlier options. There are also some options that BD-RB will remove from your line because they might violate blu-ray requirements. The one's you are trying to enter very definitely do.

This is why I hesitated to add the "tweak" option and why it will probably be removed eventually.

No, they'll probably play just fine. The Blu-ray spec is a massive subset of what Blu-ray players actually support, since most Blu-ray players use chipsets designed for general H.264 decoding. Just because a player will play it doesn't mean it should be allowed. The problem is that some may not -- and folks always seem to "forget" to mention that the problem was self-inflicted when they tell me that BD-RB created a coaster.

it gives much better qual. so i would really like to use those options If you look at the command line that was used, though, you'll see that of the things you added, the ones that would violate spec were removed by BD-RB. So the "better qual" is very likely your imagination.

While people like to play with the options that violate spec, and sometimes they're seem to work fine, it would really be a disappointment when you buy a new-and-improved player next year only to find that none of your discs work anymore.

A specification is there for a reason.

:thanks: They should work the same way whether resized or no... but maybe I missed something. I'll take a look.

so i need to encode this stream manually or is there an old version where it works 100%?

better quality is not an imagination with 10 times as much keyint more b and re-frames and rc-lookahead

worse compatibility, true

and i will not be disappointed when i buy a new blu ray player because i exactly know it might happen

jdobbs

This one works 100%, the problem isn't BD-RB, it's your decision to do it wrong. If you want to encode outside of standards, I'd suggest you use something else, because that's one thing that isn't going to change in BD-RB.

What you are saying is nonsense -- especially in consideration of the blu-ray standards. I've made my point. This is a bug thread and I make decisions on my software -- if you post anything else related to this non-bug, you will receive a strike. Consider yourself warned.

Edit. read your post after posting mine

How can i enable the "blank this item" option? it is greyed out

jdobbs

is it compatible to encode the rest and then add the data from tsmuxer myself into the structure without the main movie? No. Read my last post... final warning.

Encoded this with my normal settings, keep English audio and subtitles, custom target size = 23800. Plenty of space on the drive, encoder high quality
final size after rebuild = 16.4 GB (17,625,186,304 bytes)
thanks

After further investigation it doesn't look like it copied everything from the source for the rebuild. all the blu-ray directories are empty, only the video that was encoded is included in the output. can i do a straight copy of the missing files? thanks

I copied over the missing files and rebuilt the image and it seems to play fine, not sure what happened, everything seemed to go ok except the copy of the remaining blu-ray source files.

In x264 revision 1523 has been fixed HRD compliance, does it mean that backups made with BD-RB v0.33.02 could potentially have some kind of incompatibilities with blu-ray standard?

Is then recommended / save use this new x264 revision until you release a new version of BD-RB?

Greetings

Obviously there could still be a bug or two.

I"m re-doing this movie. After it was done it looks like 33.02 sticks an extra mpls in there that's part of the extras.

00047 is wrong and not shown in BDedit

I'm using tssplitter now, which may have been how I did it before

edit; actually there are several 47, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 21 they are nearly every other one placed incorrectly

Greetings I wouldn't worry about it... but, yes, you should be able to replace r1510 with r1523. From my DVD experience I can say that there are likely a lot of commercial discs that aren't 100% compliant as well. Players have to be "robust" against some "less-than-clear" specs.

BD Rebuilder gets it's information about seamless branching from the MPLS. I'm not sure how it could "stick an extra one in there". I assume you mean M2TS?

It would sure be easier to debug if I had some logs... I don't even know if it was BD-5, BD-25, version of BD-RB being used, movie-only or full backup... in other words I'd have to be a psychic to try and address your report.

Please, everyone, try to make your bug reports at least a little informative.

BD-rebuilder has never been fully compatible with the Blu-ray spec. r1523 is the first revision of x264 to be fully compatible--we think. Obviously there could still be a bug or two.

I wouldn't worry about it... but, yes, you should be able to replace r1510 with r1523. From my DVD experience I can say that there are likely a lot of commercial discs that aren't 100% compliant as well. Players have to be "robust" against some "less-than-clear" specs.

:thanks::thanks:

I have an question. Did Avisynth .2.5.8 can be used with BD Rebuilder or we albsolutely need 2.5.7 version?

can anyone tell me why all of my extras are encoded? the avs file looks like this:

AssumeFieldBased().AssumeTFF()
ConvertToYV12()
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\BD_Rebuilder\tools\decomb521.dll")
FieldDeinterlace()
ConvertToYV12().AssumeFPS(30000,1001)

and the others:

LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files (x86)\BD_Rebuilder\tools\nicaudio.dll")
audio=NicAC3Source("00071.track_4357.ac3").Amplify(1.2)

the main movie doesn't get encoded and only multiplexed i made sure
of that by unchecking some audio..so why is it needed for the extras?

btw. found a small bug. the max space on a bd-25 is 23866 MiB but
i need to put in a custom target size of about 24435 Megabytes to
get it use that in bd rebuilder. so i guess it's calculating wrong or
something.

noob here i guess hehe :D thanx

edit: is it because they are interlaced(480i)?..anyway solved it by
unchecking all but the english tracks. the only 1080p clip stil wants
to convert but not the 480i clips. confused lol but i know it is a beta
thanx for a great tool anyway :)

I've gotten mixed reports. Some people report using BD-RB on 2.5.8 with no issues. Others experienced problems -- and reported that they went away with no changes except reinstalling to 2.5.7.

Just done a full backup of the Hurt Locker and I’m still getting jerky/shuddering playback on my Sony BDP-S300 standalone player, it happens when the film is panning and only seems to happen with the movie not the extras. The film plays fine on my PC using WMP11. Some films I have backed up play perfect, Star Trek/District 9/Transporter 3. All the films I backup are done on BD25, I test on BD-RE, I have tested on a Samsung BD-1400 and it’s the same, I’m not getting any errors with BD-Rebuilder. Not sure what else to do, it seems random. The Sony player plays the original discs ok and the Traxdata BD-R I use. I have the latest firmware on the player.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I have updated the first link of this thread with a new link to the latest version of BD-RB (v0.33.03). Changes for this version:- Moved the reporting from "INSPECT.EXE" into BD-RB so
it will be activated after any encoding failure.
- Made tweaks to the "Automatic Quality Settings" that
adjusts a little more finely based on source size.
- Corrected an error in which movie-only alternate
output could error when the original satisfied the
output sizing "no reencode necessary" criteria.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r1523).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Not sure whats going on I just installed 33.04 and am converting a movie only to DVD9 and both progress bars are identical like its going to do 1 pass, unlike they have been where the overall lagged behind for a 2 pass? Now lookking aT BDrebuilder it does say its going to be 1 pass. This must be something new in this version because I didn't change any of the settings. Will this be Ok compared to a 2 pass?

That's very possible if you have "Automatic" checked as I use a formula for the settings that is based on the output size. It should be fine -- but make sure you give me feedback if it's not so I can make more adjustments. I'm trying to make "Automatic" do some of the thinking needed so time can be saved. If you want to force two-pass, just unselect "Automatic" and unclick the "One Pass ABR" option"

Will do, I have always had the automatic selected and it has lways done 2 pas on dvd9 so this is the first time it has ever done a 1 pass. 28 gig normally does 2 pass in about 5 hours but one pass took only 2 hours. I am burning now and will watch it and hope it works good because that will save a lot of time.

There is also a hidden option that can adjust BD-RB's bias in "Automatic" mode. It's documented in the HIDDENOPTS.TXT file:

AUTO_BIAS=n

n = 0/1/2 - Default= 1, Auto Quality bias, 0=higher speed, 1=normal, 2=higher quality

i can still have sounds from say mp3's and windows sounds (test file sounds work as well for the speakers) youtube works too

its just my avi's mkv's m2ts etc

They should work the same way whether resized or no... but maybe I missed something. I'll take a look.

Hi Jdobbs,

Did you find anytime to look at this issue of the forced subs missing after resizing from 1080p to 720p?

I tested the latest v0.33.04 (beta) and the forced subs are still not display separately from the main subs. Forced subs are still working correctly if 1080p size in not resized down to 720p.

A good latest movie to test on is "2012" at 1hr:19mins where they talk in Chinese.

Many thanks
