@jdobbs: sry i couldnt respond sooner but had the early shift at work so hit the sack at 22hrs. .08 fixed it for me aswell. Still fixed in 36.09. Care to explain what the bug was, or is it too technical ? :) No, actually it was very simple. I had declared a global variable to hold a new flag I created (to ignore SSIF folders in the directory scan), and I'd declared it as the wrong type.

The only interesting part is that it wasn't giving me an error when I was assigning an illegal value to it (logic says it should) -- but it was for others. That is really strange.

SSIF folder, sounds farmiliar. You don't happen to be working on a version that can strip 2D from 3D discs are ya :) Its weird indeed, if it was giving it for others, maybe something's wrong with your setup and not ours ^^ jk :)

I figured I needed to start getting out ahead of the 3D bubble. By ignoring the SSIF you prevent yourself from counting the same file content twice when you are doing directory scans.

Hi - just backed up a couple Blu-rays with BD Rebuilder v0.36.06 and they look fantastic. I noticed that there is no chapter information in the final BD folder, and I was wondering if I might be doing something incorrectly. I'm using the Beauty and the Beast recent release:

1) Copy disc to hard disk via AnyDVD
2) Use BD Rebuilder, Movie-Only mode, to create new movie-only BD folder on hard disk.

When I open the folder in MPC-HC I don't see any chapters. Further, if I use ImgBurn to create an ISO, mount that as a virtual drive, and open the drive in MPC-HC I still don't see any chapters. I'll post my settings if it helps at all:

Not sure what you mean by "no chapter information in the final BD folder". Chapter information is contained within the .MPLS file(s). BD Rebuilder examines the original MPLS before encoding and passes information to X264 to appropriate points are set during encoding so that chapters are frame accurate. In movie-only mode you will see the chapter points by examining the final movie-only .META file that BD-RB generates for use by TSMUXER.

I do movie-only encodes all the time -- and they are very definitely there (and match the original). The only way I could see a movie-only encode occuring without chapters would be if the original had none. The only time I've ever seen that happen is when there was some preprocessing (editing) going on.

I'm running a movie-only backup of "SALT" now just to ensure nothing has regressed.

OK, perhaps I'm not using the optimal software for playback. Doing some quick searching it looks like MPC-HC does not properly handle the chapter info in a .mpls file(s).

I tried using MakeMKV to produce a single .mkv file (it purports to keep the chapter info) but still can't use chapter navigation. Ah well, I'll live with the chapters for now. Thanks for the great piece of software.

I did a full backup of the new movie "Salt" with the new .36.0.9 at fastest settings, and all went well. Quality looks good, and it finished in under 4 hours.
Well...almost all went well. I got that "wavi.exe has stopped working" error twice. At least It was early on in the encoding process ;) Thankfully it wasn't the second job in a batch process ;)

I might have been told this before, but now I've discovered it for myself. "Keep HD audio" seems to put a stop to the "wavi.exe has stopped working" error.
Gotta love a search engine LOL! ;)

To end the wavi.exe errors:
Open ffdshow Video Decoder Configuration,
Then, under DirectShow Control click the "edit" button next to "use ffdshow only in", and type in wavi.exe.

Gotta love a search engine LOL! ;) "Keep HD audio" has not effect at all on BD-5/9 backups -- and when you keep HD audio you are also sacrificing video quality. The better solution is to report the circumstances when you get the "wavi" error and let me fix it. I've done a couple thousand backups and have never even seen it.

hello,
if i use the alternative output option DL DVD 720x576

and the source has 24000/1001 fps, the video stream was asynchronous with the audio streams.

i like this option because there is no other tool wich gives this quality.

i hope you can fix this problem and implement the subtitle option too.

i hope you can fix this problem and implement the subtitle option too. Did it just happen on a particular source? Has it worked successfully on others? Do you have "Assume PAL for DVD output" selected in the SETUP dialog?

Then I noticed that the ffdshow audio and video config ("use ffdshow only in") files are identical. I assume they do this to avoid registry problems.

"Keep HD audio" has not effect at all on BD-5/9 backups -- and when you keep HD audio you are also sacrificing video quality. The better solution is to report the circumstances when you get the "wavi" error and let me fix it. I've done a couple thousand backups and have never even seen it.

You're quite fortunate to never see this error. Especially if you're running batch mode. Quite frankly I could care less about the HD audio. I'm just as content with AC3 5.1. But if when doing BD-25 backups this solves the issue, that's what I'll do for the time being. Although you want to see the errors. So I'll post them.

Give me some time to recreate the circumstances ;)

Jdobbs. Exactly what info will help you in determining the problem with the "wavi.exe"?
The error does not show in the log you see...The best I can do is tell you the exact time that the error occurs with the log. Do you require Inspect, ini, etc?
Man, I have an even weirder problem now. "The Other Guys" backed up with only Spanish audio. One problem at a time though eh LOL!

Is this an original disc? That error is almost always an indicator of either a bad rip or preprocessing.

That may be the problem try different program and see what happens.

Hint: In some occasion Jdobbs have said anydvd does better job than dvdfab. If you search current forum then you would likely to find example of this occurrence.

I hate to seem like a fanboy, but anydvd has wayyyy less bugs than Dvd fab. I generally only use DvdFab if I want to change the playback order. E.g. jump to main title first. And that doesn't always work. Especially with the disney movies :( I really should learn how to use PGCedit. But given Dvd's Days are numbered... ;)

I reran "The Other Guys" and DID NOT check "keep HD audio". This time I have english audio. Weird...

Hi jdobbs,

i worked with the BD Rebuilder very long and i think this is the best Tool for BD Encoding.

I have make under my Mac with VMWare a Virtuall HDD with Windows7 installed but if i will open a BD Structur Folder in BD Rebuilder i see a Warning "Selected Source is not BD format".

My ripped BluRays are stored on the other HDD and i have inserted in in the Virtual Machine as Networkadress.

I have tested this with other Tools like DVDFab and BDtoAVCHD and and this worked fine with this Tools.

Please can you fixed this issue if i can load Files from Networkadresses.:thanks:

what i have to do to get the same length like the video stream by the audio streams? I don't know. I've done several 720x576 DVD-5/9 encodes in testing after your post. There was a bug I found in that the output is too large for a DVD (I've fixed that) -- but the audio has been in perfect sync every time. Are you using any filters?

Hi jdobbs,

i worked with the BD Rebuilder very long and i think this is the best Tool for BD Encoding.

Please can you fixed this issue if i can load Files from Networkadresses.:thanks: Sorry, I don't speak Mac (and don't plan to learn). But I use PC networking all the time and it works.

Do you need to apply the Avc Hd patch for a blu ray created with Bd rebuilder to play on a ps3 ? I ask this as I have been doing that and it plays on my Ps3, but seems to get stuck and not play on my Dad's Panasonic Blu ray player, its works up to the menu selection and freezes after you click play. any idea's or thought ?

Thanks

i use this two avisynth filters

AVSFilter01=LoadPlugin("D:\Stuff\Programme\Progs\Video Bearbeitung\DVD2AVI\StaxRip_1.1.6\Applications\AviSynth plugins\asharp.dll")
AVSFilter02=asharp(2,3,1.3,hqbf=true)
AVSFilter03=tweak(sat=1.09)

Hello, all.

Just started using 0.36.06 last week with my new LG BR burner, love it. However, I have two issues.

1) When I right-click on a clip in the GUI, MPC opens and says "Opening..." but takes three minutes to open the file and play it. It finally does, but if I hit play again, the app locks up for three minutes again. If I open any of the clips from the rip directly from within MPC, no lag issues at all, only when coming from the GUI in BD-Rebuilder. I tried 0.36.09 tonight, same thing. My system is running Win 7 64-bit, internal SATA 1TB Hitachi drive (data only), and I tried an external FireWire enclosure as well, same thing.

2) When I try to do a BD-9, I'd like for ImgBurn to burn to the blank DL disc sitting in the burner. However, I get an error about a timeout. When I actually watch ImgBurn doing this, it'll hang on the burn for at least 30 minutes (by then I just kill it). It never burns, though, so I don't get a coaster. So I've started just making an ISO from BD-Rebuilder. That should then burn in ImgBurn after the fact, correct? However, it doesn't seem to want to burn as a playable BD disc, only as a DATA DISC (as shown in PS3). Does this mean that ISOs, when created through BD-Rebuilder/ImgBurn, are not passing the info to ImgBurn to use the correct formatting (like UDF 2.50, or whatever's needed to get the disc to play in a BR player)?

Otherwise, if I just leave the folder and don't post-process, I can pull the folder into ImgBurn and manually burn and get a playable BD-9 disc. And to that, I say, absolutely wonderful. Thanks for the hard work you've done for us, jdobbs!

At first: Merry christmas to all of you guys!! :)

I have a little problem concerning shrinking Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Ultimate Edition). As you might know, in the ultimate edition there are additional scenes. In these scenes the audio-track is not the speaking of the actors anymore but the menu background music  When the additional scene is over and the next (normal) scene starts, the audio is ok again.

I selected the only German track in the additional scenes.

Do you have any ideas concerning that issue? :(

I'm assuming the filter works correctly. The AVISYNTH page even has an example for converting audio from FILM to PAL. It has a "TEMPO" parameter designed for changing length without affecting pitch. I'll have to dig up some PAL video and run some tests.
Why would you need a PAL source? The issue is relevant for blu-ray to DVD PAL conversion (alternate output), so any blu-ray source@23.976 will do.

1. On my system it takes about 3 seconds for MPC to open and the video to play.

2. I'm using IMGBURN v2.5.1.0 and I'm experiencing none of what you are describing, and I use it every day. You might want to try downgrading and see if it is something in newer versions.

Honestly it sounds like you may be having issues with your system -- as there's really no link between MPC and IMGBURN, and you're experiencing problems with both. It's hard to diagnose from here -- but hard drive issues, maybe? Weird to be sure.

Try choosing a different playlist.
How can I change a playlist? Isn't that done by BD RB itself?

How can I change a playlist? Isn't that done by BD RB itself? Yes, but it can only make an educated guess as to which playlist is the feature. It's right 99.9% of the time... I've only seen one where it picks the wrong one. You can choose another by selecting "Other movie-only playlist" from the MODE menu. Of course this only applies to a movie-only backups.

Another possibility is if you have manually changed the audio selections in a full backup -- but haven't done the same selections for all members of a playlist. I'm making a change for the next release to force any changes to ripple through an entire playlist.

A very welcome addition/change! :)

I'm a few days late, but congrats on your recent passing of the two years since BD-RB's first release.
A big :thanks: and another donation coming your way! :D

I guess the option "Quicker encode for extras" implies shorter encoding time and less quality in extras. Does it also mean smaller size of extras?

My question would be: By selecting that option, will I get better quality in the main movie, or just faster encoding time in the extras?

thanks :thanks: Carlos No idea. But it's very probably something on your end, either in the player, the media, or something in your processing -- if it were within BD Rebuilder it would be happening everywhere. On the other hand, with no view into your settings, etc, anything I'd say would be a wild guess.

I've done Avatar and A-Team with no issues.

My question would be: By selecting that option, will I get better quality in the main movie, or just faster encoding time in the extras? Faster, yes. But since it's doing a one-pass CRF encode the size/quality depends on the source and the CRF value being used. By default it is 22 for BD-25, 25 for BD-9, and 30 for BD-5. A fixed CRF can be set by adding "QUICK_CRF=nn" to the config file.

Seems odd that calling a video from within MPC exhibits no problems, but calling the same clip from within BD-Rebuilder THRU MPC has the halting issue...

I just switched to a 250GB IDE drive last night for testing, same issue. That would seem to rule out drivers, as it's IDE at this point, not SATA like the 1TB drive. I'll try upgrading the main chipset drivers, see if that makes a diff.

Is there a way to call something else within BD-Rebuilder, like VLC? Then I could test further.

I'm using ImgBurn 2.5.4.0, so a bit newer than what you're using. I'll see if I can snag the 2.5.1.0 version and downgrade. Funny, though, yesterday I tried to burn two ISOs I had prepared in BD-Rebuilder; one burned fine, the other did the same thing (shows as Data Disc on my PS3). It seems completely random.

Thanks again for your help.
