Ahh, cool. I wondered if something in the main config INI is not correct. Without parsing through it, I renamed my personal config and am trying an almost stock version. Modified [00028] as you see below. I got a good MKV with an AC3 and no subtitles because that's disabled.
[00029]
caption=MKV, Intact Video, AutoGOP, Auto-AC3
vBitrate=2000
aBitrate=*
aType=0
vFormat=8
vKeyint=Auto
cType=1
I've disabled the Single Audio and Subtitles settings in SETUP, now checking that for an MKV with multiple AC3 and subtitles.

[Edit] Can you show me the preset you created for "Intact Video and AC3"? I just tested it with the one below and it is working fine????[00031]
caption=MKV, Intact Video and AC3 Audio
aType=0
aBitrate=*
vFormat=8
cType=1I did run into a muxing issue, though.
Sure... These are my modifications I used when it showed the above. "I looked at it".
[00030]
caption=MKV, Intact Video & AC3
aBitrate=*
aType=0
vFormat=8
vKeyint=Auto
cType=1

On a hunch, in Setup, I set the limit for 1 AC3 and the process completes fine with 1 audio selected. More than 1 MKVMERGE does not complete.

On a hunch, in Setup, I set the limit for 1 AC3 and the process completes fine with 1 audio selected. More than 1 MKVMERGE does not complete.I just did a test with Toy Story 3 (which has 47 segments) and kept 3 audio streams. It worked fine. But... there was a bug I fixed yesterday related to multipart sources made up of huge numbers of segments in which intact video was kept. Is it possible that is what you are seeing rather than the multiple audio tracks?

You're welcome...and I'm not fully sure what's causing it...other than changing settings which seem audio tracks related. I'll have to watch very carefully to see if video is doing it... However, when AC3's are part of the process, that's when it fails. An example, because I was curious.. "Shawshank Redemption":

I'm thinking that's related to what I've been noticing. Again, with my tests, when using Intact Video and AAC even with 3 streams the MKV completed build. I'm doing some head scratching also.
Edit 1: BD-RB is processing the Shawshank with AAC on all 3 tracks.
So you know, something cosmetic...the Current Progress counter showed a final of 114.XX% complete for AC3 tracks 1 & 2.
I expected to see a complete mux...a little surprised.

So I tried with MKVMERGE GUI 6.0.0 and you may find this to be interesting.
"Warning: AAC files may contain HE-AAC / AAC+ / SBR AAC audio. This can NOT be detected automatically. Therefore you have to specifiy '--aac-is-sbr 0' manually for this input file if the file actually contains SBR AAC. The file will be muxed in the WRONG way otherwise. Also read mkvmerge's documentation.

I'll have BD-RB reprocess Shawshank after I check the MKV output...and see if it shows something like that with the AC3's.

[02:42:21] JOB: RISE_OF_THE_GUARDIANS_3D finished.You got a split screen. So I assume that's not what you wanted? Currently BD-RB only supports 3D through SBS, O/U, or Anaglyph. If you don't want 3D (split screen) then turn off the 3D switch in the SETUP menu.

@AmigaFuture
The part that is confusing is: 1. Why is it working for me and not for you? 2. Why (at least once) are you getting a permission error?
[Edit] I tried using the settings you posted, but they are obviously not the ones used for the encodes. They are set for "Full Backup" and no ALTERNATE selected.
I'm starting to believe there is something wrong with your setup. I'd suggest you uninstall and reinstall everything (BD-RB, AVISYNTH, FFDSHOW, and HAALI). You might want to try a completey different folder as well (somewhere that we know there won't be a rights issue). If you haven't done so, you might also want to ensure a cold reboot of your system.

The Aften failure with my MacBook Pro was because I copied it corrupted from my Main computer due to what seems to be a defrag corruption..from a program I was trying...not the OS vesion. I'm doing more checks now, wanting to avoid reinstalling the OS. Doing more checks.

Looks like I found the bug without having to reinstall Windows.
Using Paul Unrated, and these Alternate MKV Settings:
[00029]
caption=MKV, Intact Video, AutoGOP, Auto-AC3
vBitrate=2000 (<- I don't actually think is was needed)
aBitrate=*
aType=0
vFormat=8
vKeyint=Auto

When the MKV build failed, I remembered the chat about 0 byte AC3 files. I checked the Work directory and Yep.. The 2 English AC3's that weren't rererendered wheren't copied/placed. Instead, 2 0 AC3 files were created. So, I copied and renamed the last 2 untouched AC3's and replaced 0 bytes. Clicked Backup again, had it resume which did a final build containing 3 AC3s, 1 Video and 1 chapter but no subs. I have a feeling that if I had copied the AC3s before it finished that all would be good. Here's the log.

[00:21:28] JOB: PAUL finished.
Output is an MKV with Video, 3 AC3's and Chapters. No Subtitles. So, figuring if the process could finish complete on its own, SUP will be added also. So, have it create a new MKV with AC3's still in place from the previous job. The built completed again, but SUP's weren't added.
I'll have BD-RB do another test later today replacing the 0 byte AC3's while BD-RB does its thing. Anyway, that's some cool news, I think. Ahh, I'm tired..I just remembered I'm not currently using any of the Hidden Options. So, no wonder...no subs. Haha!

Is your DGDecNV licensed? Neuron2 has stated that the program will not function correctly, if it isn't licensed.
"This software requires a license! If you attempt to run the software without a valid license in place you will receive no explicit notification of that fact. Instead, various functions of the program will simply fail to operate correctly"
So I got my license today for DGDecNV and doing a BD now without issue, thanks for the heads up, very pleased with the results too, 2x faster than DirectShow and LAVF so for me its a keeper, cheers.

How long do old versions of BDRB work before they expire?
I ask because I have a system the repeatedly gets something similar to this every title I try to compress:
[15:08:43] PHASE ONE, Encoding

[15:08:43] - Failed video encode, aborted
I have uninstalled virtually everything else on the system that is video related, uninstalled and reinstalled Haali, ffdshow, and Avisynth and nothing helps.
It runs fine with 43.06 but not with the later releases.
I've been trying to figure this out for a week with no success. Any ideas? What pieces other than BDRB are different with the new versions?
The system has been in place for over a year, Win7 x64 Pro, Sandy Bridge, not overclocked. The system runs cool. New versions work fine on my Ivy Bridge, just not this one.
If you have LAVF checked in the settings then un-check it.
Check it if its not then re-try. Cant' hurt.

That log doesn't share important information. I've noticed bad rips do that, but couldn't say from your share that that is it.

Not bad rips because I can run the same rip on another system and it works ok. Also it fails on ALL rips (done on different systems and different drives).
JJB - I don't use LAVF; I use MULTIPROCESS=1
Also, that doesn't explain why it works with 43.06.
Update: I just got the same type of failure on my Ivy system.
Update 2: Just got a clue!! I haven't confirmed it yet, but it looks like it might be a LAN issue. The latest failures occurred when the source folder was on another system or server.

What good does it do to say "I have an issue" without any supporting information? Throw me a bone here. I've tried Tarot cards -- but all they tell me is that your problem will be meeting a tall dark stranger.
[Added] A large percentage of my encodes are done via LAN. Are you doing it by assigning a drive number or browsing the network? I generally assign a drive to the share.

@JDobbs
Hello again. I went ahead and backed everything needed from my MacBook Pro and reinstalled 7 completely; not an overwrite of the previous or repair of the OS as some people call it. I also installed and updated Boot Camp to the newest 3.3. Everything went well. So, installed AviSynth, FFDShow, the MatroskaSplitter, as well as unzipped (WinRAR is not yet installed) a fresh copy of 44.06. I've also installed a fresh copy of Firefox. Ran BD-RB in Admin mode, let it make the changes after I made changes after installing FFDShow from the first page. I have not updated 7 to Service Pack 1, yet..no other updates either to the OS. No other software, including video editing, has been installed and the machine does function very well. FFDShow are the only Codecs package I use. :-)
So, here are the results from my MacBook Pro with Paul (Unrated). I hope this is helpful.

If you don't post complete logs and your config file -- I can't help you. Hell, I don't even know what disc you're trying to do.
It was not my intent to get you involved. I kind of doubted it was a problem with BDRB or the titles. I was pretty sure it was my problem, but I had run out of places to look. I was only trying to find out how long I could use 43.06 before it expired and if anyone else on the forum was aware of what supporting programs might have changed other than BDRB that I might investigate.
I actually believe now that my router had gotten out of kilter when I upgraded a couple of my servers and did not reboot the router to make sure all the IP addresses were properly reassigned. Anyway that's my theory at this point. Sorry to upset you.

I'm not upset. I just want enough information to actually do something about a posted bug.
But... to post an issue in the "Bug Reports Only" thread and then say "It was not my intent to get you involved" is a little disingenuous, don't you think?

Just a quick question, now BDRB has made it possible to backup and re-encode 3DBD's to MKV & MP4, is there a future plan to bring MVC encoding into the picture to backup and re-author a 3DBD50 to a 3DBD25?
There is a few ways out there to achieve it I have found but big $ and experience is required and the cheaper alternative DVDFab is hit and miss as to if the end result actually works without freezing, MIB3 3D and Monsters Inc. 3D are classic examples of miss with DVDFab, cheers.

No, I don't.
You are obviously preoccupied with mkv, 3D, etc. and I didn't want to send you off on a tangent. I didn't give particulars about the failures because they were obviously not title-specific and I didn't think anyone else could reproduce them to determine a cause. I asked for general information from other posters on this forum because they sometimes provide insight to each other. The only forums I am aware of relative to BDRB are this one and the one on "new feature requests". This didn't fall in to either category. So ... where else do I go to ask such questions?

But there are two limiting factors today: 1) There is no freeware MVC encoder available. 2.) There is no burning software capable of burning the SSIF/M2TS shared sector format.
Until those two things happen, it isn't possible outside of a couple very, very expensive authoring packages. It may be possible to get around #2, but only by duplicating sectors (which will lower available bitrate/quality). Outside of those two things 3D disc creation isn't really very complicated.

Thanks for the explanation, I am assuming DVDFab gets around #2 like you mention resulting in the hit and miss results many have, does DVDFab even re-author to MVC? I am assuming it does because the ssif files are still there after a re-author.
Would it be possible for us users who own DVDFab to take/borrow the MVC encoder out of DVDFab and use it in BDRB, that is if it uses an MVC encoder at all?
Don't flame me for asking that please, cheers.

I know it is debugging thread, but I will support Jdobbs in this case. If you take two identical file you cannot make stereo view file or at least I haven’t seen it as an option. What it probably does compress m2ts file separately and then during burning it create ssif file to link them together.
If you think about for a second if he had mvc encoder he probably add this option in another modules of his program. (I am not talking about side by side, over and under ones)
Fengtao was also mentioning about if you use dvdfab virtual to mount folder and it will create ssif on the fly.

@Colinhunt: QFT on that one. I tried DVDCrap a few times to compress full 3D only and hybrid 3D discs. Only 1 managed to complete successfully and after a while it was riddled with artifacts to the point where the movie just "stuck". The timer kept going but the movie didn't. All the others (of over a dozen i tried", processed for a while and then the thing errored out with some random "filter error". I wouldn't spend a penny on it for there 3D shrink feature

Why I won't be surprised I gave another try last night and it really mess up the color in video file; when blue become orange you know program is messed up. Ch3vr0n call it DVDCrap and I call it DVDBug because by definition it is exactly that. On a side note I used Rovi MVC encoder and so far I like it and best part about encoder is it's ability to accept avisynth input without any problem. $ 6K is not bad for it, if you compare it to cinema craft MVC and Sony do studio mvc encoder.

Just switched to the latest version v0.44.06 (from 43.04, which was working just fine) and got his with this message "AnyDVD Remove Annoying Adverts: Incompatible", which I'd never seen before...and have been using that AnyDVD since it was introduced without issue. But I figured I'd turn it off, and re-rip the source. And I still get that error message.
This is a Movie Only encode, and so I'm having trouble understanding what effect that setting would have...and why I would still get this message after turning this feature off in AnyDVD?
Does this somehow alter the time tables or something that messes with your encoding? Also, I noticed that I no longer see the sets of tasks (I'm used to seeing, such as FFDSHOW) in the tray. Does this version encode differently from the prior version I was using?
Also, I had run this (both with and without that AnyDVD setting turned on) to a full output file (no re-Encode). That worked (or seemed to), but then BD Builder threw the same error message for both versions of the combined (single M2TS file). Note that the resultant M2TS file plays just fine via Splash Pro...even at the point where the two files are put together. Both video and audio.
But here's the latest attempt to re-encode the pair of M2TS files into a very slightly compressed single M2TS file. Note that it fails on the 2nd M2TS file.

That check has been there for many releases including 43.04. You need to turn it off -- because it has been proven to cause issues in the past. With that said, it probably isn't what stopped your system. I'd recommend you reinstall BD-RB, AVISYNTH, HAALI, a FFDSHOW.

Also, I might add that the new version encodes much slower...when it's actually running. And uses up considerbly less CPU, while running slower. If I get it working again, perhaps I'll increase the number of concurrent encode threads. I had been using 3, which was more than enough...with the older version.
As this is VC-1, which in the past has occasionally caused issues, I'll try another one, encoded using AVC...and let you know how that goes. But I don't think this issue has anything to do with the AnyDVD settings. And BTW, I didn't recently change my AnyDVD version. Running 7.1.8.0.

It sounds like you may have other issues.
By the way, you have to uncheck the box before you rip. Doing so after the disc has been ripped to HD won't have any affect -- and the damage is already done. But.. BD-RB looks in the registry and checks the current state of that setting.

I did turn them off, for each re-rip (yesterday), but I like to keep them on for other reasons...since I sometimes decide the compressed results just aren't good enough and decide to burn a DL version instead. And for that, I want those settings on. And since I ONLY do "Movie Only" encodes, I'm trying to figure out why your software would care. I'm not doing any blanking or any other actions related to other titles. Just the main title for a "Movie Only" encode.
And I tried the AVC encode and that failed as well. Though I did keep the AnyDVD settings off, so did not see that error again. But looking in the registry is not remotely a guarantee, as I might have something I ripped a year ago (with those settings on).
In any case, Re-Install what? Those components you mentioned or BD Rebuilder? Because if so, why? Nothing else in my system has changed...except for BD Rebuilder. And I hate to reinstall stuff, as really I have to Uninstall those components, go into the Registry and clean up the garbage their uninstalls leave behind (which is usually EVERYTHING), and then reinstall them. Otherwise my Registry just gets more cluttered up. Windows is just not smart enough to reuse entries. But if that's what's needed, I can do that. Just want to be sure the mechanic is just not unplugging wires and plugging them back in just to see if that's the problem.
But in any case, what changed in BD RB between the time this issue was not be reported as an issue and now. And why would there be a potential conflict or configuration issue in my system with DirectShow?
Also, there was reference to looking in some DirectShowxxxxx.txt file for instructions on possibly resolving a DirectShow related issue...but where can I find that?
Thanks.

Those options in AnyDvd are great for straight playback but they can mess up an encode by possibly affecting playlists, etc.
Nothing has changed in your system? No media player updates, encoding software, codec packs, windows updates, WMP updates.
Uninstall FFDshow, Haali, avisynth, and delete BD_RB. Reinstall all of them to eliminate any issues on your computer.

Yes. No updates (period). No installs. Nothing except the new version of BD Rebuilder...and so I'm not convinced this is a problem related to FFDSHOW, Haali, or Avisynth. I have the recommended versions installed, and Inspect flags everything as ok. So call me stubborn, I don't take out the engine and put it back when it won't start...just because I don't know what else to do.
In checking through my accumulated logs, it does seem I've been using DirectShow for a long time...but perhaps some of the changes related to BD Rebuilder's handling 3D discs differently (and I don't use 3D discs) might have altered the options and perhaps that's the issue. And perhaps I need to change something. But what? But one day (under 43.04) it worked, and the next (under 44.06) it didn't. For any disc I've tried.
BD Rebuilder is not really installed per say. Just unzipped into the it's folder...which my shortcut points to. And I tried running it as an Administrator, in case this latest version needed that. But that's didn't help.
But I'll see if can download a prior version (before 44.04, which the problem seems to have started to be reported)...and it that's works...

I downloaded and am running verrsion 44.03...and its seems to be working very nicely. Much farther along on this particular title than 44.06 got. And unlike 44.06, I see the 2 pair (3 each) of FFdshow and Haali in the tray (since I'm running DirectShow as a 3-way)...just as I'm used to seeing.
So once again...what changed with 44.04 (iinto the 44.06 version that would not work for me) that makes it different in how it works from 44.03?

Is this it? Because it appears to only be applicable to 3D ?
- Added support for output of 3D source BDs to
SBS 3D via the SETUP dialog. This option only
supports movie-only (including ALTERNATE)
mode and will only function if you have
separately installed and properly configured
the DirectshowMVCSource() DLL according to
it's accompanying documentation. BD-RB must
also have write access to it's folder. This
feature should be especially useful in making
3D MKV and MP4 files or even DVDs from 3D BDs.
The output, of course, requires a monitor or
TV that supports SBS 3D.(v0.44.2)
- Added a new hidden option "TYPE_OF_3D" that
will allow you to specify an alternate output
type for 3D (other that the default SBS).
Options include Over/Under and Anaglyph.
(v0.44.2)
Is this saying that I need to do something with the DLL for DirectshowMVCSource() to 2D discs? Because i did not install it. Because as far as I can see I don't have this particular DLL installed. All I have is the DirectShowSource.dll.

I use 44.06 and it works fine. You don't need to worry about Directshowmvcsource unless you are encoding to 3D. The installation of the helper apps might have become corrupted. Try uninstalling and reinstalling, or hope that JDobbs starts making house calls.

But looking in the registry is not remotely a guarantee, as I might have something I ripped a year ago (with those settings on).Sigh... You obviously don't remotely know how the registry works and probably shouldn't be making comments about things you don't understand. :rolleyes: Just as an FYI, that just happens to be where AnyDVD stores its current settings.So once again...what changed with 44.04 (iinto the 44.06 version that would not work for me) that makes it different in how it works from 44.03? I've told you the issue is local to your system, I made suggestions that you have apparently decided to ignore. Version 44.06 is working great for everyone on the planet but you. Shouldn't that tell you something?In any case, Re-Install what?Huh? Perhaps you should look at this post (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1629060#post1629060). It said exactly what you should reinstall.

You might make sure you have gotten the latest Windows updates. The problems I was having with 44.06 seem to have waned since the latest batch were applied. Don't know if it's relevant or not but it can't hurt.

Hi all,
I have made an interesting discovery I think regarding BD3D re-encoding/re-authoring, I recently asked jdobbs to add a alternate profile to output Full SBS 3D to MKV which results in a SBS Output of 3840x1080 which do work very well on PC, I was looking for a way to play this result in Blu-Ray Format and what I done was I put the created MKV into tsMuxer and set it to output to a Blu-Ray Disc and after it created it I tried to open it with TotalMedia Theatre 6 and it didn't like it much but PowerDVD 13 auto switched to 3D mode and played it back as if it was a original 3D Disc and reported it was outputting in 1920x1080 and its size was under BD25 so I can burn it to smaller media.
Thought this was interesting and thought I would share, I doubt it will work on standalone players but I will try later.
Edit: Tried the result burnt on RE media on my Samsung BD3D standalone player and as expected no Video out but HD Audio was being output perfect on a good note it still worked perfect from the PC using a software player, I was able to get TotalMedia Theatre 6 working by manually switching to 3D but PowerDVD 13 works flawless with auto 3D Switching.
