But how can it be copy protection at all? The playlist is on the disc and chaining multiple files hasn't been a problem with DVDs. Also I've got some really old blu-rays and HDDVDs and I'm pretty sure both had the main features in multiple .m2ts and .evo files although the were released before the copy protection was broken. Maybe it's just the authoring platforms they use that does that for some (not necessarily good) reason.

@nurbs
Hi!But how can it be copy protection at all?I didn't say that it was EFFECTIVE copy protection NOWADAYS.
Early on in the learning curve about the then newly arrived BluRays, people would simply try to join files and playback to see if they were all there and if they were in proper order. Subsequently, with the understanding of the function of playlists and the interpretation of them, this attempt at "protection" became as (in)effective as EVERY type of protection (including CSS) that's ever been conjured up for DVDs...
BTW - Regarding HD-DVDs, the ONLY splitting I've seen in my collection is two "Feature .EVOs"...
We're getting Off Topic for a "Bug only" thread...

Update: well, made a second attempt at burning "Oz" with same results, player attempts to "read blu-ray" then, after around 20 seconds, reading" icon on TV goes blank then nothing. Am still able to pull up the "top" menu choices but can only look at that. No reponse to any of the choices within the top menu. Anyone know if my settings below are proper?
Again, TIA.
Finally gave up trying (4 failed attempts at getting compressed to 25 G to work). Went with DL 50G and works fine.

Jdobbs, I only have one question - on installing ffdshow, if you are running a W7 64x shld you also download and install the ffdshow 64x, or is this not needed?
SoniG

saphire199 : This is not needed as x264 of BDR and Avisynth are x86, they call x86 codecs.

I had this problem doing the Simpsons movie. At the end I did it without any sub. I never had this problem in about 200 films. It should be possible for you, to encode without subs to solve this problem.
Sure: leaving out the subs will solve this. For me it is the 2nd movie (same happened with Watchmen). I already gave this disc to a friend with another player hardware. After playing around he found out that choosing another language (don't know exactly which it was - let's say 'spanish') worked and Watchmen played without subtitles. Never re-checked it on my own player.
But now this happened again. Really strange.
PS: Will test this case (Star Trek) in my friend's player if I see him again.

First of all, a thanks for the app, big fan of DVD Rebuilder and thougth as I have gone BluRay I should start back-ing up my collection:)
I followed the guide and instructions to the letter but could not get past a recode failure. I was pretty sure it was a problem with decoding the VC-1 codec and the switch from 31.05 to 31.06 confirmed this (nice addition by the way to help you sort out problems)
I tried 14 ways from sideways with no joy at all so thought I would start again, used a spare hard drive and installed a clean copy of XP Pro with SP3,enough drivers to get it working, (network, graphics card, sound card etc). Then installed the versions of ffdshow, Matroska Splitter, and Avisynth from the front page of the thread, and AnyDVD & Daemon Tools.
XP Pro already had WMP 11 so just ran it to set it up. Hit the button and same again, failure to decode VC-1. I tried your suggestion of playing the avisynth script in VDub and it would not play so was sure the problem was decoding VC-1. Nothing else on the system so could not see what the problem was.
Reading through another thread from a couple of months ago people who had been having trouble decoding VC-1 had installed Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2009-09-09, so though well it can't do any harm. I had already done three clean installs trying various bits and pieces.
Installed the above codec pack and bingo, the avisynth script plays in VDub and I have completed two full disc to BD 25 back-ups.
I still don't realy understand why the clean install did not work but at least its working now, I just need to try a few options to see which works best for me.
Thanks for a great app. :thanks:

@Movie Dude;
If you install WMP11, you still have to run ffdshow decoder and set VC-1 to disabled. I have done many VC-1 full and movie only backups with XP Pro SP3, and never had the issue you mentioned happen to me.

Jdobbs, I only have one question - on installing ffdshow, if you are running a W7 64x shld you also download and install the ffdshow 64x, or is this not needed? Right now my recommendation would be to stick with 32 bit software. There are too many "maybe's" involved in trying to get all the 64bit software packages aligned and working... the marginal speed improvement just doesn't justify the risk.

14th January 2010, 15:25
If I did that -- it wouldn't be a true backup (like the original). It's better to figure it out and fix the problem than to screw up the source by changing the authoring. JMHO.
Are you not changing the authoring by taking the main movie only multiple parts and then muxing them together to one m2ts?
My point was just scripting the play list so you do not have to join all the m2ts files together in the end...

Slayer : Well unfortunatly it send back to my last post where keeping multiple m2ts files give some freeze at m2ts transition playback. What about my reflection about the secondary DTS Express audio management in my last post? And to finish, I have some ugly 'lines in the image' result by using deinterlace option (or leaving default in interlaced footages). And when I look to the LASTCMD I see the flag --interlaced while there is FieldDeinterlace() in the AVS. And when I read the resulted m2ts, I see MBAFF flag in the scan type property. Shouldn't it be set as 'progressive' (like the movie), as it supposed to be an interlaced footage converted to progessive? If I understand the problem in the process, first, interlaced footage is well deinterlaced by AVISYNTH but after, x264 receive the --interlaced flag and process it as an interlaced footage. That's would cause these resulting strange 'lines in the image'.

Not sure what to tell ya.. I usually only do Movie Only Rips, to DVD-9. Maybe Jobbs knows... Could be an issue to what BD rebuilder thinks is main movie or not.. If it thinks that a interlaced source is progressive you might have a problem..
I only do full backup when I am dealing with Multi title episodes such as IE band of brothers ect...

Did that, XP Pro SP3, ran ffdshow set VC-1 to disabled and got an error message saying it needs setting to WM9, tried that and got the recode error. WMP11 would run but not decode VC-1 video files

Does WMP support chapters?
Try opening the .MPLS file found in the Playlist folder within the BDMV folder of your backup with tsMuxeR GUI, then click on the BluRay tab at the top, and see if you have a custom chapters list.

My English is not very good i post me Message in Germany sorry
do not konvert dts to AC3
do not reencoded.....
Ich nehme an das das die richtigen sind, bekomme aber trotzdem ne AC3 Spur Spur gemacht!!!
Muss man da noch irgendetwas umstellen das einen die HD Spur bleibt????

It is probably because you're using BD Rebuilder in Movie-only/AVCHD mode. Options to keep HD audio are for Mode/Full-backup - Blu-ray (BD-25) only (I guess).
For most films, with HD audio, BD Rebuilder converts it to AC3 audio track, although I have set it not to:
[x] Keep HD Audio
[x] Do not convert DTS to AC3 (Blu-ray)
...but I still get AC3 audio!
Do I have to change anything else?

To all: If you decide to use "tweakers" or anything outside of BD-RB's internal setup code to configure your system -- I'm sorry, but you are on your own. I can't go chasing snipe down rabbit holes attempting to figure our what someone else has decided to do with your setup.
Also, look at the times involved... your source isn't being extracted, I don't know how big it is, but it's unlikely it could happen in one second. That makes the source suspect.

When I installed FFDShow I left everything at default. Any setting I should check in the configuration. I am running Win7 the program has been working without any problems.

That makes the source suspect.
thanks
my source MUMMY_3 in full backup (0333 file)
bur it's working movie only
in full backup there is a mistake with the file M2TS VC1 codec
bderebuilder works in X64 windows 7 with VC1 file or not compatible ?
i m tired with vc1 win 7 x64
i ll must use a tweaker ?

BD-RB does any tweaking it needs (and asks you before it does) -- but if you have already done some tweaking with another package, it may not notice that chages are needed.

I deleted BDRB 31.06 and unzipped a new copy installed FFDShow 3133 and am trying it on another movie and it is working fine it got through the extracting A/V streams. This movie is a mpeg4 the other two that it failed on are VC-1 both of them. If this helps to solve the problem.
I am also running Win7 x64.

Shuttle99, did you well checked the 3133 version of ffdshow you installed is well the 32bit one. That's the problem when we have win7x64, you can install both versions at the same time, x86 and x64 of ffdshow, with a different revision for one and the other, but the one BD-RB will use is the 32bit version. So why install both on win7x64, well because 32bit version will be used by BD-RB or any 32bit players you want to use, and 64bit version is required for Media Center, Windows Media Player on vista/win7x64 or any 64bit player like mpc-hc64. But you must to well check this. When you launch an encode with BD-RB, double click the video ffdshow taskbar icon, go to About and verify that the revision is well 3133.
jdobbs, I regret you never answer to my posts, I don't know if I'm invisible, I don't insist on any support from you, if you don't want to, I will use my favorite solution :'Do it yourself', but I think when we take time to test and report bugs about your software, the least you can do is to reply, even if it's in one word, as you sometime seems to know to do it!

It could also be buffering on your computer, disc/drive issues, or any of a host of other problems that aren't related to BD-RB at all.
I'm not ignoring you -- there's just not anything I can do about it, especially when I've done hundreds of discs and none of them show any signs of what you're describing.

glood1 : What you really need to care about is to install FFDShow X86/32bit revision 3133 on the first page of this thread! After you go to : Start/Programs/ffdshow/Video decoder configuration, in 'codecs' you set VC-1 format to wm9 and you do verify it's your x86 ffdshow revision 3133 settings box on 'About'.
jdobbs : Ok, thanks to give me regardless an answer. Telling it come from the player, you possibly right, even if i tested and had the issue on TMT3 and PowerDVD, knowing TMT3 issue is much more significantly. And I have the same issue with 2 different PC, a server and an HTPC. One on Win7 x64, the other on x86. Well in fact I am testing different x264 flags to see if it resolves it a bit. Why I think it's important is because more and more HTPC users, like me, will use offline/dematerialized way to backup and use there BD collection. Why? Because it's more handy, remove the burning related issues, allow to use the power and confort of Media Center and allow in one way to have all our collection, from any kind, not only movies, in one place with a high storage capacity with also a high level of security thanks to the now affordable RAID5 technology. And that is the power of your software, allow to backup our BD with all the features in it, not only the movie, and most of all, to shrink it cleverly to preserve our precious hard drives MBytes. So I think playing flawlessly these kind of BD on TMT or other software players is important and should be more and more used in the future. As you could read it, It seems I'm not the only one to have this issue, I don't know how you test it and how it works for you, but if the original have no issue, why reencoding it cause an issue? That's the question! If you can't, don't have time or don't bother about that, no problem, I will continue to find a solution and will share it here to people who have the same one. But 2 other things I reported you, that are more enhancements and not disturbing things, about 1- the possibility to recognize and manage secondary DTS Express audio tracks with BDClown that use TSMuxer like you and eac3to, and 2- this strange artefact about the deinterlaced footages and the fact that they seem to receive the --interlaced flag during encoding that I think is not good and are still recognized as MBAFF in output instead of Progressive. Please, refer to my previous posts that are more detailed. I would just like to hear you about that, but if you don't want to, never mind as I can leave without these PiP bonuses and I think I prefere keep interlaced bonus footages anyway, but well, if it's a bug, it will be useful for everyone! If you think it's too long or that's not the most important things to talk about here but you bother a bit, we can chat about these on PM or whatever! Thanks!
