Hey Jdobbs, I've been using your software for a few re encoders from BD50 to BD25 keeping the menu.

The user Rabomil talked about it's me. I'll explain the situation so this maybe can help you improve your software.

The movie where this happens are the Criterion Collection, those movies have the movie + a documentary in sequence.
I believe this is the reason it's treated as the rest of the movie.

Besides that it would be great to have a better control over what goes into the rebuilded blu ray and the quality.
A control for the extras or some pre-calculation of the final size each file would take would be sweet.

This Criterion Collection movies in question always get 19gb for the movie and 4gb for the rest. I'm trying to output at 24250mb but sometimes this is too big for my BD-R.

Anyway, your software is great and expect a donation next month :)

Forgot to add this: I'm always adding subtitles for my movies so I don't know if this is problem related to BD Rebuilder or BD Info/Tsmuxer but after the encoding proccess I go for the movie m2ts and mux a new subtitle there. It playes fine but I can't skip the chapters. If I do it my player hangs.
Do you by any chance have experienced this with your tests? You definitely can't just remux the M2TS -- there are references that have to be updated in the MPLS and CLPI. There are offsets (like FF and REW entry points) in the CLPI that point to specific places in the M2TS, so simply remuxing the M2TS with TSMUXER to add subtitles would definitely cause issues.

I'm using this tutorial:
http://torrentfreaknews.blogspot.com.br/2012/11/how-to-add-subtitles-to-existing-blu.html

This worked for the a movie, subtitles and chapters work great.

I'm starting to believe that for this to work I need to add the subtitle before reencoding the movie to BD25 or else chapters would not work.
Subtitles works in every attempt and disc I've burned.

humm.. sorry for that, this didn't passed on my mind.
Since I need additional subtitles on almost all movies I reencode I will wait for a movie with already EPG subtitles on it's original release to compare and I'll get back here to post where the problem is.

Torrent sites, and anything associated with them, should not be mentioned in this forum.

This is a news sites, there's no copyrighted material there but I understand your point.
The source of this tutorial is inside a private site so I can't link it there.
Anyway, thank you for pointing that out.

Long story short: when doing a movie-only back up of the movie "9" as part of a batch reencode (some movie-only, others full disc, all of which had DTS-Express audio that I was *not* using) everything seems to have worked with the exception of the naming of the title in the resulting folder and within the logs: instead it gave the folder the name of the hard-drive with the # of the mt2s file appended.

The full path of the directory containing the movie's BDMV and CERTIFICATE files was:
G:\rips to compress w_ DTS Express (strip it)\9\
All other movies in the batch, which were named correctly in the output, were in the same parent folder:
G:\rips to compress w_ DTS Express (strip it)\

Two players... LG BD390, and LG BD570. Both allow access to windows file shares and streaming of MKV files, so I've been doing "Alternate movie only" output to MKV files.

I just noticed, after upgrading to 0.43.06, pressing FF results in the video file stopping and my being brought to the Bluray player's file/folder listing.

files made, same BD-Rebuilder options/settings, with 0.42.08 are fine and can be FFW with the highest FFW speed.

Attached are examples of the one that works (Live Free or Die Hard) vs one that doesn't (One for the Money). I've included the excerpts for these encodes from BD-Rebuilder.log, the .INF file BD-R puts with the output MKV, and the Media Info for the files.

After looking into it further, I've noticed the same issues with ones I re-encoded using v0.43.04

BD-Rebuilder does not cause this. There was a change in the new version of MKVToolnix that some players do not support.

The Matroska specs intention is for players to simply skip elements they don't know if they encounter any. Unfortunately not all players do that.

The symptoms of a player having problems with those two additions include not being able to seek at all in a file or only with very long wait times inbetween, especially with seeks to far-away positions; problems with fast-forwarding or rewinding; or even the player not playing the file in the first place.

The fix, if jdobbs wishes, is to have BD-RB pass the following to disable the new feature:

--engage no_cue_duration
--engage no_cue_relative_position

Or if your player is having problems, you can remux the file yourself with the above commands or use an older version of MKVToolnix to remux it after BD-RB creates the mkv file.

Cool.

If I understand correctly, I can open the MKV file in mkvmerge GUI, hit the muxing pull down, choose add command line options, use the drop down, select the first one, hit the add button, use the drop down again to select the second one, and hit the add button, then go a head and start muxing?

EDIT: I tried that, the resulting file immediately stops, doesn't even play.
EDIT2: I tried it again, this time setting the options, then adding the MKV file... IT WORKED!!! not sure why it didn't work if I set the options AFTER opening/adding the MKV file, but hey, I don't care at this point since this worked with 3 movies so far. THANK YOU!!

Not being familiar with command line options of doing this, is there a way to write a CMD file to search for the MKV's in a folder and do this one at a time with all?

They made several players and TSMUXER stop working. The Matroska MKVMERGE developers don't seem to give a lot of thought to the impacts of their changes before making them.

Anyway, I'll add the command line options for the next release.

For mkv, I think you need to enabled the hidden option "MKV_MUXSUPS=1". Just add this to your config (access via File-Menu within bd-rb) and it should work. At least for mkv. For other containers I do not know... :)

I used MKVMERGE GUI 6.0.0 to mux without 0 byte files and all is playing well, even Chapters. I'd say it's trying to mux the 0 bytes and that causes the failure. As when adding them from the GUI, rightfully, shows an error.

I experienced a similar problem with MP4BOX failing.

I'm now using the MP4BOX.exe from GPAC (http://gpac.wp.mines-telecom.fr/downloads/) with a size of ~174 kb, which runs fine for me.

Maybe you could try this version and see if it helps with your issue, too.

For mkv, I think you need to enabled the hidden option "MKV_MUXSUPS=1". Just add this to your config (access via File-Menu within bd-rb) and it should work. At least for mkv. For other containers I do not know... :)

no, I don't use MKV on input, but original blu-ray
if I select full backup all ok, but if I select Movie Only the problem is presen.
this on all version of BDRB and all blu-ray that have one subtitle set to on. On output there is not subtitle set to on!!!

When converting some of my TV series (namely Justified) to BD-9, the menu background video is compressed to the point that it is unwatchable. I have been just copying the original m2ts and clpi files into the compressed version to make it watchable. I tried to use the MIN_M2TS_SIZE=200 parameter to avoid re-encoding the menu file but it seems to be ignored. Is this done intentionally for BD-9 or other smaller encodes?

Hey Jdobbs, I was testing adding audio streams and subtitles to blurays without loosing the menus.

I had great results using only tsmuxer. If you set output as bluray disk and use the outputed mpls and clpi for the m2ts you muxed with the new subtitle and the new audio it will work without any problems.
If it happens to have multiple mpls for the same m2ts all you need to do is replace those mpls for the one create using tsmuxer.

Said that I believe clpi has informations on the m2ts size and so on, if BD rebuilder changes the size of the movie and the bitrate it seems trivial to me to add subtitles or audio streams with bd rebuilder since it's already re-working everything inside the bluray.
Do you think this would be possible?

One more thing, would be possible to have a pause button? Sometimes with long encodes it would be great to be able to pause, use the computer for other heavy stuff, my example would be I'm using sony vegas to edit a 4 stream 1080p video, even with idle setting on bd-rebuilder it's not enough for me work. Just an example, I bet many users would benefit with a pause button.

And the already requested solution to convert extras material to 720p. I believe this would make your software a bd killer :))

i have used bdrb a lot in the past. it worked fine.
i haven't used bdrb recently so i was forced to update to new version 43.06.
i'm using win 7 and to avoid MSCOMCTL issues, i copy your new files over the old ones whenever asked, leaving anything older still in place.
bdrb 43.06 still compresses fine and completes.
----
here's where the issue is.
i'm running movie only with bd25 output selected.
it doesn't produce a certificate folder anymore. this cause powerdvd and other players to exhibit the wrong
list of audios and subs on the new disk, along with causing the movie playback loop to abort and stop the player.
is there something i've done wrong? is there a bug in the new version? can this be fixed? how?

thanks

The m2ts file for the menu background video is 197MB.

Perhaps I don't understand the option, but I interpreted it as meaning that no file smaller than MIN_M2TS_SIZE will be re-encoded - it will only be copied to the output.

If the file is 197MB and it is set to 200, it shouldn't have been encoded. There are some other factors that can override it though, like if it is a part of a multipart sequence.

I remember I had the same problem with poor (unwatchable) menu quality with 'The Lincoln Lawyer' on BD-5. Maybe this happens when the original menu is already heavily compressed, and is then again shrunk in proportion similar to the feature? Perhaps it would help to encode the menus at fix CRF (e.g. same CRF as selected for the Extras)? It may then however be too difficult to re-calculate the remaining space for the rest of the files....
Just some thoughts.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest release of BD-RB (v0.44.02). Changes for this version:May 3rd, 2013 - v0.44.2
- Corrected an issue in which a zeroed language
area in a CLPI could cause log issues when
working with imported sources.
- Added code to check for ALTERNATE output so
the warning "Audio and/or PGS size too large.
Probable oversize." is suppressed.
- Corrected an issue that could result in the
wrong SAR when ALTERNATE with 480/576 sources
when no-resizing is selected.
- Fixed an issue in which, under certain rare
circumstances, a PGC may not be imported when
importing from DVD.
- Added new alternate video options that allow
output using the original, untouched video
to be kept.
- Added a new video option in the SETUP dialog
that allows resizing of 1920x1080 sources to
1440x1080. This can help eliminate noise on
longer sources when outputting to BD-5/9.
- Corrected an error in the importing function
in which framerates can be incorrectly read
on systems the use "," as a decimal point.
- Added check for 1440x1080 source and adjusts
encoding aspect ratio appropriately.
- Added support for output of 3D source BDs to
SBS 3D via the SETUP dialog. This option only
supports movie-only (including ALTERNATE)
mode and will only function if you have
separately installed and properly configured
the DirectshowMVCSource() DLL according to
it's accompanying documentation. BD-RB must
also have write access to it's folder. This
feature should be especially useful in making
3D MKV and MP4 files or even DVDs from 3D BDs.
The output, of course, requires a monitor or
TV that supports SBS 3D.
- Added a new hidden option "TYPE_OF_3D" that
will allow you to specify an alternate output
type for 3D (other that the default SBS).
Options include Over/Under and Anaglyph.
- Corrected an issue in which, under certain
circumstances, individual resized subtitle
lines may be inhibited from displaying.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2309).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2309).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Still testing.. Today, after sleep, I'll overwrite with new Beta... The 0 byte .SUP files are created before the last Alternate build is started to create the MKV. I hope that helps.

I tried to do a 3D encode, but no avail. I do have a working DirectShowMVCSource.dll Installation, so I don't think the problem is with my setup.
Here the VID.....avs:
#Created by BD Rebuilder - v0.44.02 (beta)
LoadPlugin("c:\Program Files Video\MVCtoAVI.exe\DirectShowMVCSource.dll")
RIGHT=DirectShowMVCSource("C:\TEMP\BD REBUILDER\WORKFILES\00916.SSIF", framecount=178056)
LEFT=DirectShowMVCSource("C:\TEMP\BD REBUILDER\WORKFILES\00916.SSIF", framecount=178056,decodeleft=true)
LEFT=ConvertToRGB32(LEFT)
RIGHT=ConvertToRGB32(RIGHT)
MergeRGB(RIGHT,LEFT,RIGHT)
Spline16Resize(1440,1080)
ConvertToYV12().AssumeFPS(24000,1001)
Apparently it expects the *.ssif in the WORKFILES directory, but it isn't copied to there

I made some changes in the past few days to handle them differently, it could be that I've made a mistake and it is not working on a single part source. I'll test it today.

I have updated the first post of this thread with a link to the latest release of BD-RB (v0.44.03). Changes for this version:- Corrected a bug in v0.44.2 in which encoding
3D sources that were not multipart was not
working. (v0.44.03)
- Corrected an issue in which a zeroed language
area in a CLPI could cause log issues when
working with imported sources.(v0.44.2)
- Added code to check for ALTERNATE output so
the warning "Audio and/or PGS size too large.
Probable oversize." is suppressed.(v0.44.2)
- Corrected an issue that could result in the
wrong SAR when ALTERNATE with 480/576 sources
when no-resizing is selected.(v0.44.2)
- Fixed an issue in which, under certain rare
circumstances, a PGC may not be imported when
importing from DVD.(v0.44.2)
- Added new alternate video options that allow
output using the original, untouched video
to be kept.(v0.44.2)
- Added a new video option in the SETUP dialog
that allows resizing of 1920x1080 sources to
1440x1080. This can help eliminate noise on
longer sources when outputting to BD-5/9.
(v0.44.2)
- Corrected an error in the importing function
in which framerates can be incorrectly read
on systems the use "," as a decimal point.
(v0.44.2)
- Added check for 1440x1080 source and adjusts
encoding aspect ratio appropriately.(v0.44.2)
- Added support for output of 3D source BDs to
SBS 3D via the SETUP dialog. This option only
supports movie-only (including ALTERNATE)
mode and will only function if you have
separately installed and properly configured
the DirectshowMVCSource() DLL according to
it's accompanying documentation. BD-RB must
also have write access to it's folder. This
feature should be especially useful in making
3D MKV and MP4 files or even DVDs from 3D BDs.
The output, of course, requires a monitor or
TV that supports SBS 3D.(v0.44.2)
- Added a new hidden option "TYPE_OF_3D" that
will allow you to specify an alternate output
type for 3D (other that the default SBS).
Options include Over/Under and Anaglyph.
(v0.44.2)
- Corrected an issue in which, under certain
circumstances, individual resized subtitle
lines may be inhibited from displaying.
(v0.44.2)
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2309).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2309).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes. I have also updated the v0.44.02 zip so it gets this version.

where can i find that DirectshowMVCSource. Google doesn't seem to be my friend on it.

You'll find it in several other packages in the 3D encoding thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=155246) (check signature blocks in some of the later posts for "BD3D2MK3D" or "MVC Player Free" -- both have it included). I personally also purchased the "MVC to AVI" converter here (http://www.3dtv.at/Shop/Index_en.aspx) so I'd have a legal copy of the CoreAVC decoder DLL that is needed. It's only 19 euros. If you read the DirectshowMVCSource.txt file it will explain how to install it.

The *.ssif directory issue is fixed with 0.44.03 and the encoding starts now, but x.264-bd.exe crashes immediately and BD-RB is aborted.
Is there anything special with x264-bd.exe which is put into the "mystic" Directory? Any tests you want me to do?

Edit:
Sorry - my mistake. I left a trim() command for testing purpose in the avisynth script. Apparently this caused the crash.
