RB is installed on a usb attached HD. It has always been there.

Everything else on the pc works fine, all dvd and mts files plays with no problem.

Try ripping the disc to harddrive with AnyDvd, and then use BD-RB from the HDD. It might resolve your problem, or it might discover some errors on the disc?

Just a thought!

I have tried ripping from the discs and ripping to HD first.

Same result.

I have ran RB from Desktop, c Drive and Ext HD, same result.

I am thinking of reinstalling Vista again.

It's just about a bare system, software wise. Just reinstalled a clean Windows. I don't understand the workings of RB or all the settings.

When I installed it about 6 months ago it worked straight out the box. Wonder if it is worth downgrading to an earlier version? Just for the heck of it, try uninstalling HAALI and then installing the previously recommended HAALI version (http://www.jdobbs.net/Freeware/MatroskaSplitter.exe).

I uninstalled Haali splitter and it made no difference to RB, I presume it shouldhave.

So could it be that Haali is the problem even when I had it installed?

Just found that I had Xiph.org Open codecs 0.85.17777 installed.

Six posts in a row--must be some sort of record.

It really shouldn't make a difference -- but I thought it might be worth a try.

@dfsooner

Wow. Five secondary video tracks! I've never seen that before. I'd be willing to bet that has something to do with the problem.

Were you able to reproduce the problem?

If so, is it something you can fix or is it a problem with x264?

FYI - According to BDEdit, 00325.m2ts is not referenced by any playlist.

7/31 update:
Removed 00325.m2ts from STREAM folder and rebuild completed successfully. It was only an ad anyway so no significant content lost.
Might want to consider ignoring such unreferenced streams in BDRB or at least just copying them.

Don't know if this might help.

But I have another old pc. I installed DvdFab and it 'shrank' Cars with no problems. Movie only and Full Disc. Installed Rebuilder on this pc and it didn't work.
Thought I'd try an earlier version of RB but it is out of date.

when ripping discs make sure anydvd isnt modifying them as it has the option of skipping the warnings and trailers etc. That option has messed up some of my rips.

Yes I do have it set to remove all trailer etc. I'll give it a try.

Thanks.

Were you able to reproduce the problem?

If so, is it something you can fix or is it a problem with x264? Mine ran ok with BD-25 output selected, but it failed with the same error when I tried BD-9. It's caused by the way BD-RB tries to speed up encoding of secondary tracks by using CRF. When the size of the 5 tracks are combined it leaves nothing for the primary video, resulting in the negative bitrate. I'm modifying it to encode secondary tracks proportionally using ABR rather than a fixed CRF.

It would be nice to have the option, only for BD5 and BD9 full movie backups, as is true with movie only backups, to not include the secondary video/audio. The secondary video/audio for full backups to BD-25, where there is plenty of room and a higher probability of actually viewing this feature makes sense. But I am not so certain for full backups to BD5/9 media. ( My Sony's do not show secondary video on BD5/9 media. )

Just another observation.

I 'did' Cars using Dvdfab on full disc. The movie itself was perfect but the menu selection screen was really bad quality, very pixellated.

Just another observation.

I 'did' Cars using Dvdfab on full disc. The movie itself was perfect but the menu selection screen was really bad quality, very pixellated. This is a BD Rebuilder forum. What you did with other packages isn't related.

By the way, I and many others have done "Cars" with BD Rebuilder (as a simple search of this thread will tell you). In other words, if you are having problems doing it -- the issue is in your personal configuration.

I'll be honest. After the quotes below I lost confidence that you even know what you have on your system, and that is probably the root of the problem. I just get the feeling we could go around in circles until the cows come home.
Have you tried uninstalling all components and then reinstalling everything? Sometimes other software that is installed will "intercept" CODECs, causing problems, and give no indication of doing so. Also, if you have any "codec packs" installed -- remove them. All the CODECs you will ever need are included in FFDSHOW.

Interesting that the section where it is failing is only 24 frames long... have you changed MIN_M2TS_SIZE?

[Edit] Look like you posted while I was answering... BD-RB should recognize a menu and for BD-25 in most cases it should not change it.Not installed any other codecs besides Rebuilder ones.

I can select oo81 in vlc and it plays fine.

I have just rebooted the pc and I'll rerun RB to see if it stops again.

thanks for replying.
Just found that I had Xiph.org Open codecs 0.85.17777 installed.

Seems 2me that here jagjocky is saying that he uninstalled Haali splitter and then tried to run BD_Rebuilder without it. QUOTE: uninstalled Haali splitter and it made no difference to RB, I presume it shouldhave. So could it be that Haali is the problem even when I had it installed? BDE_Rebuilder is not going to run without the helper programs installed. When I had problems I would uninstall all programs including BD_Rebuilder and make sure all the install folders in the Program Folders were deleted. Then after rebooting run a registry cleaner and then reinstall everything (Plus make sure you run BD_Rebuilder as administrator if running Win7 os). This has always cured my problems with BD_Rebuilder, hope this helps.

I have no sound in bd rebuilder. Everything was installed as instructed on 1st page. When I open bd rebuilder and look down the list of audio there is nothing selected. Have tried deleting and reinstalling, deleting and cleaning registry then installing but have not luck at all. Inspect.exe says

- HAALI Splitter: Ok

- TSMUXER: Ok
so everything should be working. Any ideas as I have searched everywhere for answers (before I format the drive again).:confused:

I formatted the drive and reinstalled to fix the problem and everything was fine till now....
I uninstalled the program I had recently installed which was Dataram RAMDisk V3.5.130R17a to see if it that was the problem. When I started bdrebuilder up I got this message - ''component 'mscomctl.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid''
I tried starting bdrebuilder with 'run as administrator' and it has fixed it. Just thought I would let you know incase anyone else comes across this problem and is think of a reinstall of windows. :D

I have updated the first post of this thread with links to a new release of BD-RB (v0.38.05). Changes for this version:- Corrected an error in which the correct version
of HAALI may show (in INSPECT) as "Incorrect".
- Added code to circumvent/correct failed encodes
in instances where NicDTSSource() cannot decode
certain unique types of DTS sources.
- Implemented a workaround for an issue associated
with AC3 reencoding in which some less-resilient
players may get "confused" on sources comprised
of multiple M2TS connections and skip or repeat
sections of video.
- Made improvements to the automatic quality code.
This should improve functioning, especially when
using custom target sizes.
- Corrected an issue in which converting subtitles
for DVD might sometimes result in error message
"Unable to convert subtitle" and subtitles are
not integrated.
- Corrected an error in which numerous secondary
video streams might (rarely) cause a negative
bitrate (and failure) for encoding the primary
video.
- Added a hidden option (MIN_PLAYLIST_MINS) to set
the minimum size of a playlist that is to be
included as a choice in the movie-only playlist
selection. In previous versions this value was
fixed at 15 minutes (which is still the default).
This can be helpful when you want to create
ALTERNATE output from very short sources (e.g.
short cartoons, etc.) See HIDDENOPTS.TXT for more
information.
- Added code to prevent encoding attempts of files
that are unreferenced (not part of any MPLS).
- Changed "Quick Encode for Extras" so that it is
"Off" by default.
- Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
latest release (r2044).
- Updated the included version of X264-64.EXE to
the latest release (r2044).
- Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

I am still getting the "- HAALI Splitter: Isn't recommended version" with this new release on my Win 7 Pro 32 bit OS. :( I just tested it, and it's showing correctly on mine. Are you sure you have the right one?

[Edit] Hmm... it is showing incorrectly on my other system, though. Ugghhh....

Ok, I'll do some more testing. It must be something in the difference between 64 bit and 32 bit.

[Edit again] Yep. The size that I'm checking on the 32 bit system was the "size on disc" instead of the actual size. I've fixed it (again) for the next release.

To clarify: I first got the message when I tried 38.02. When I saw the Changes.txt entry about subtitles for 38.05 I tried again and got the message again. That fix was specifically related to this bug report (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1512666#post1512666).

Okay, I see it's a different bug. So mine is a separate bug report.

Hi,
I use the "Symantec Endpoint Protection" and in the last update "BD-RB v0.38.05 (beta) - BD-RBV03805.zip" i had the following issue:
the file "bd_rebuilder.exe", detected As:Bloodhound.Sonar.9 (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/detected_writeup.jsp?name=Bloodhound.Sonar.9&vid=19157).

That never happens in other versions.

Please advise.

Symantec does report a FALSE possitive on BDRebuilder you need to add it to your exceptions to get it to ignore BDRebuilder in the future scans.

As I've said before, sometimes the A/V software is as much of a pain as viruses themselves. "Heuristic detection" they call it. Hah!! That could just mean today is Tuesday.

Trend Micro Internet Security says it's ok.

I encrypt the EXE and prevent startup if it has been tampered with -- just to make sure no one ever attaches a virus to it. But sometimes the randomness of encryption can set off "heuristic scanners".

No problems with McAffe either. ;)

This is kinda strange! Downloaded and installed 38.05 and did a Movie Only - 25 backup of Rambo. It is pretty small and no re-encode was required. I have included all logs and ini files below. The process completed quickly with no errors. But...the movie is nothing but jumpy audio and video. I thought there might be a problem with the rip (even though it played with no problem.) So...ripped again and tried it again. Same exact problem. So...reverted to 38.04. Same results. Uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Same results with 38.05. Then, as a last resort, I forced a re-encode. Everything is just fine. Any ideas on this one? Why would a re-encode solve the problem?

@CV91913

What are you using for playback? My guess is that it isn't a standalone player. The only difference between the two ways of doing it would likely be the CODEC.

With the audio/video problems I did not burn to BD. I used MPC provided in your directory and Nero Cineplayer on two different PC's. One win7 64 and the other XP. Have done dozens of these smaller BD's that did not require re-encode and never saw that problem before. Nothing new installed on either computer (except Windows updates) in months. Oh well, as I said...I got it to make a good backup, just thought you might know what gives... Thanks

:eek:BUG - NEW 38.05 DETECTED AS A VIRUS

My Norton Premier 360 detected the NEW 38.05 release's BD_rebuilder.exe file as a HIGH threat and automatically DISABLED it. I'm using Windows 7 Home edition on that PC. Logging in as administrator didn't help. I installed 38.05 several times before I finally noticed the little Norton box flashing in the right corner. Sure enough, Norton had flagged the Bd_rebuilder.exe file as a HIGH THREAT VIRUS. Even after turning OFF the "Remove risks automaticaly" option in Norton360 Premier, it still kept distroying the BD.exe file.

I had to DISABLE the Norton Sonar function to make the NEW 38.05 BETA work.

I'm also using BD rebuilder (OLD release 38.04) on another computer with O/S "Win 7 Ultimate" with the SAME "NORTON 360 premier edition" with NO problems - so that leads me to think that only the NEW BD 38.05 BETA causes the "Premier Norton 360's" Sonar function to treat BD.exe files as a virus.

I'm sure there is a way to "just exclude BD_Rebuilder.exe" from Norton's new Sonar scan in the Premier edition, but I still need to figure out how. (Not as obvious as other Virus programs I've used)

I'll try to re-post later on how to do that.

SyntheaBug? Are you kidding me? Take your bitching to Norton, not to me. It's their software that is causing the problem. Sure, I'll recompile and reencrypt and it will probably go away -- but it's their software that is at fault, not mine. There's no virus involved here -- only sh*tty A/V detection.

Two other A/V packages (Trend Micro Titanium and McAfee) have verified that there is no virus.

I just recompiled into v0.38.06. Try downloading this one (http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03806.zip) -- then let me know if your "wonderful" A/V detection software accepts it so I can update it in the first post.
