Is there a way to transfer or convert BDMV or other files created by BDR to an iPad Air2 and Samsung Galaxy android and have them playback the movie?
I would like to pull the files off of BR discs already made by BDR.
Thank you.

I'm a novice with all this. I do have BDRB working correctly though.
In trying to get the MP4 conversion to work, for a Source Path:, I selected the bdmv file from a BDRB made Blu-ray disc. Under BDRB when I check Menu/Mode/Movie Only Backup/Alternative Movie-Only Output among the many mp4 variants I do not find a "movie only output conversion to mp4" choice.
Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.

"movie only" is just a way of saying exactly that. Only the main movie, wether its mkv or mp4 they can only carry 1 video title at a time. You're looking in the right place, you just have to pick your option.
MKV or MP4, video resolution, audio specs.
Eg halfway down the list you'll see a profile "MP4 container, 1920x1080, AutoGOP, Auto-AAC" which basically means an MP4 file, video resolution of 1080p, with automatic selection of optimal AAC audio
you're not doing anything wrong.

After I do the conversion I'm not clear on how to transfer the converted bdmv mp4 file to a Samsung tablet. Would I download the mp4 file to the SD card I use in the tablet and then try to find an app that will play mp4 files? Do you have an idea of what an "average" converted blu-ray bdmv to mp4 file size might be?

It would probably work similar to my Nexus tablet / phone. Just connect the device and drag the file over. Done, that's all there is too it. I do recommend respecting the devices folder structure. Eg: the device has a "movies" or "Video" folder or something similar, place the file in there. I haven't seen any device that would refuse file playback if it wasn't in the video folder or anything but i guess it's possible.
As far as a player goes, MX Player is the best there is, next to the upcoming VLC for android.
Filesize wise there is no average as that depends on the settings you used at the bottom of the "Alternate movie-only output" window that pops up.
You have multiple options
Filesize based on on CRF (20 is decent for my full HD capable Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus 5)
Filesize based on the encoding bitrate (2nd checkbox)
Filesize based on a fixed value (checkboxes 3 for 2 pass encoding & 4 for 1 pass encoding) where the value is in MB. Eg entering a value of 1024 would result in BDRB creating an mp4 file with a size as close to 1GB as possible.

Wow thanks for the great info...
Do you know if bdrb will process SD movie DVD's made by DVD Shrink and convert them to mp4 files?
Thanks again.

Hi jdobbs
I have made lots of blu ray movies using BD Rebuilder so I decided to give it a try to Blu Ray 3d. I used the same settings that I use when I do normal movies: Full backup, target size BD-25 and automatic quality settings. For setup I have this settings:
15138
The result is a perfect BD-25 gb movie with one problem, I lose the audio after 8 minutes, I have tried several movies and I always have the same problem, video is perfect, menu perfect, but I lose audio after 8 minutes. Here is a sample from the movie San Andreas:

Hmmm, the first thing that I thought of too was Cinavia... But, would it take EIGHT minutes to kick in...???
Anyway, FULLY agree with our friend above. I personally ALWAYS keep the Workfiles until I am COMPLETELY satisfied that everything went well...

On the adudio problem, could it be a problem with Windows 10?Not likely. I can't imagine what could cause a breakoff after 8 minutes of audio other than cinavia.
I notice that you're keeping the original audio intact. Just as a test, try unclicking the first two audio options on the SETUP menu. That way it will reencode the audio. It's worth a try.

Hi Jdobbs
Thank you very much for your answer, I will try what you suggest and I will post the results as soon as I have them.
I know is not cinavia because when I burn the same movie to a 50Gb blu ray it works fine, the problem is after compressing it to fit in a 25gb blu ray. Also I have tried with at least 5 3D movies and all have the same problem. With normal movies I never had any problem like this using Bd Rebuilder, it is just with the 3d movies.

Thanks again for the answerI'll go back and check to be sure -- but I'm pretty sure the audio processing is exactly the same between the two processes. The only difference I can think of is the muxing and the way the mpls/clpi files are built -- and I don't see a way in which that could limit the length of just the audio.
What kind of player are you using?

@lathe cinavia can take anything from 5 seconds to 20 minutes to kick in.
The first time you play a Cinavia infected movie, it will take ~20 minutes. If you stop playback and wait for a little bit, then it can take as little as 5 seconds. IIRC, if you wait longer than 30 minutes, then it will take the 20 minutes again.

No it won't take approx 20 minutes. That 20 minutes is an established 'window' in which detection takes place, some find it faster than others. Some take 20min's, others have 5 minutes or less and yes that effect applies to the initial detection!

Hi Jdobbs
I have 4 files with the name you mention in the working folder, but they have another extension:
AUD_00098_4352.AVS
AUD_00098_4353.AVS
AUD_00098_4354.AVS
AUD_00098_4356.AVS
But these files only weight 1Kb.
I do have files with .ac3 extension, but they have the following name:
00098.track_4352.ac3 Size:377MB Duration: 2 hours 17 minutes
00098.track_4353.ac3 SIze:26MB Duration: 8 Minutes 12 Seconds
00098.track_4354.ac3 Size:26MB Duration: 8 Minutes 12 Seconds
00098.track_4356.ac3 Size:26MB Duration: 8 Minutes 12 Seconds
I played all the files and the 00098.track_4352.ac3 seems to be the Audio of the main movie in English, this file looks like has the whole movie Audio because it last 2 hours 17 minutes.
The 00098.track_4353.ac3 is English with some comentary but only last 8 minutes 12 seconds.
The 00098.track_4354.ac3 file is french but only last 8 minutes 12 seconds.
And finally the 00098.track_4356.ac3 file is spanish but only last 8 minutes 12 seconds.
Please if you need me to ckeck something else let me know.

I know just fine what is is, and quality wise is not even remotely close to what bdrb can produce. Even more when you look at 3d.
And FYI it's not a tool designed to rip before processing the rip with bdrb. It's designed as a ripper AND shrink tool.

BDRB doesn't rip discs as far as I know. I use HDdecrypter (part of dvdfab)
There may be a way to configure BDRB to remove cinavia or there may be a better decrypter that will.

Now if you'll look closely you'll see that in the new job it fails at vid 3/19 instead of 7. I checked the workfiles folder and there is no file VID_00300.AVS.264 but there ARE TWO files named VID_00300.AVS.1.264 and VID_00300.AVS.2.264

@Jdobbs
Different disc: Same problem
logs and other needed files attached.
Too big to post in a reply
no bd-rebuilder.ini settings changed.
its as if the file gets split fine into 2 parts for the encoding part, but that info is not written into the meta file and it looks for a single video file. This can probably be fixed with a command line change, but i don't have the technical knowhow to know what needs to be changed.

It's only a first attempt at fixing it, I never said it was perfect. It's no worse than what dvd-ranger first had, hell they even accused slysoft of stealing their code because of it. It will improve, it will just take some time.
Yep, I expect that it will indeed improve.
