I tried to resize the bonus material by adding "e:r:spline16resize(640,360)" and it works almost perfectly. Almost perfectly, because short videos (deleted scenes of about 40 seconds) get resized, but also get a bitrate that would be appropriate for 1080p. That it gets resized shows that it gets recognized as bonus material.
Although it doesn't have much impact on the total size, it would be nice to have all bonus material encoded the same way.

Discovered a title which gives BD-RB problems: the Danish TV thriller The Killing, series 2. Both discs have 5 episodes, an hour each.
Ran a movie-only backup of both discs by selecting a "play all" playlist. On backup disc 1, audio sync is fine for the first 4 episodes, but badly off in episode 5. On backup disc 2, audio sync is fine in episode 1, but badly off in episodes 2-5.
MediaInfo says the source files are 24.00fps progressive. Backups were created with "KEEP_HD_AUDIO=1" so DTS-HD MA tracks were copied over as-is.

update: Ripped the DTS-HD MA tracks using MeGUI (i.e. eac3to) which does a 2nd pass on the audio file after ripping, fixing gaps and overlaps. The result is a file which syncs perfectly to BD-RB's output.

Instead of a Movie-Only backup of the "Play All" playlist, why wouldn't you just do a "Quick-Play Backup"? It will keep all the episodes and make it a lot more convenient for playback...

"The Mentalist" S1 D1 Episode 1... SD_PROGRESSIVE and Setup's IVTC 3:2 does well, just doesn't display any indicator in the log that it's happening as it does when using Full Backup.
Something else I noticed that perhaps you haven't?? BD-RB picks the middle episode as the biggest. Yet, it shows in the list as under an hour; same as the other episodes. It should reflect the total time of all episodes...correct? Thanks. Back to the root as to why I was testing this.. From my Optical Drive, I've not noticed any out of sync importing the first episode from DVD when the render is good.

I believe this issue is caused by whatever you use for demuxing: it does not do the "fixing gaps and overlaps" corrective pass like eac3to does.

That's a good question. I've never used Quick-Play Backup, to be honest. Guess I'll look into it now.

Yeah, I don't think importing from optical drive was the problem. Something about MPEG-2 decoding/X264LAVF was the problem. And I don't believe it was every DVD I imported. DVD importing isn't something I do very often. Fact of the matter is, it was only this one time. Though I can see using it again in the future. BD-RB is much more 1-2-3 than Multiavchd ;)

From my Optical Drive, I've not noticed any out of sync importing the first episode from DVD when the render is good. I assume we're talking about movie-only mode. It doesn't pick the biggest. It chooses the one most likely to be the feature. It probably picked the middle one because the time was close -- and it assumed the longer episode was the "extended version". There is no indicator on a disc that says "I'm a series disc" -- so all discs are assumed to be a feature, possible extended versions, and extras. In "Quick-Play" mode, it will also not include a title that is a combination of several other titles (because it encode more than once and double the size of the disc).

Okay. That's a software difference between HandBrake and BD-RB. Cool, it's not a BD-RB bug. Movie only; Alternate MKV/MP4 vs Full Backup.

They're hidden features. I am guessing, JDobbs doesn't want them showing in the main GUI because of that....at least, perhaps not until it's more ready for final release? I'm cool with it because I know their directory paths. I have wondered..but again, beta...

Do you mean the "Source Path", "Working Path", and "Stream" in the window you see when you first launch BD_RB.

Jdobbs, I was thinking of adding a code which allow user to select which title to backup from series, rather than choosing the largest one. For example if multiple titles appear with similar length display all of them and let user decide.

BD-RB doesn't select the largest title. It goes through a series of logical steps to try and determine which playlist is the feature -- and selects that one.

I thought this was what the "Other Movie-Only Playlist" option was for, to select a playlist other than what BD-RB chooses by default. It's what I've been using to back up each individual episode on series discs.

I thought this was what the "Other Movie-Only Playlist" option was for, to select a playlist other than what BD-RB chooses by default. It's what I've been using to back up each individual episode on series discs. Yes, that's for when it doesn't pick the right one. It's right 99% of the time, but nobody's perfect. It's also the way you choose each episode individually on a series disc.

Whenever I find an example where the wrong playlist is selected by default I just pick the the right one manually. But would it help you to improve your algorithm by knowing which titles don't work as expected and which is the correct playlist for that disc? I have a suspicion that reporting all such cases would just end up being a lot of noise for you to sift through, but perhaps there would be some useful data in there. Just thought I would ask ;)

there is any command, not to convert the main mt2s?
the extras are in mpeg2 and if converted to mpeg4 with h264, the bd would enter into a BD25
I just want to convert the extras
FORCE_NOENCODE=n
as applied to a particular file?
thanks

But, no, there is currently no way to encode only the extras and leave the feature intact.

would not be bad, add that function, as many include extra blurays and convert mpeg2 to mpeg4, the main movie would remain intact

Possibly a bad rip. What program you used to rip?

Definitely a bad rip. That's the only way you could get a PES packet that large. Since the video reencoded, I'd say it's probably one of the audio streams.

Many thanks for that and your quick response
I have corrected the VC1 but still it fails

This is using a copy of the BD produced by AnyDVD
I have also tried DVDFAB on it, both the copy and the original BD and that fails too.
Thanks again

I had this problem. Everything was working fine until I installed a program that added some codecs of its own (which I was afraid it might even though in the installation step I told it not to add any additional codecs). Removing that program, and then removing and re installing FFDSHOW solved the problem.

When backing up 'A Good Day To Die Hard' BD-RB freezes near the end of the second file(00801.m2ts) involved in the rebuild. (Movie Only) The files that were copied to hard disk from Bluray play fine and all the way through with out any hiccups. If I play the file in question in Power DVD It begins to play fine until it gets to the 31 second mark, then it jumps to the end. I noticed that PDVD shows the file as 40 seconds. If I play it with the preview option in BD-RB it shows it as 31 seconds and plays through to the end. When processing the files BD-RB handles the first file OK and then begins working through the second file but freezes just near the end. I can't copy the log because BD-RB is locked up. I've re-copied the file several times and it remains the same. Any ideas how to get around this?

Do you get any error messages such as X264.exe has stopped worling?

@gonca
No, nothing. Just stops. I let it sit for a fair amount of time and it stays the same. Clicking anywhere on the program's screen just causes it to whiteout and adds (Not Responding) to the title bar.

Sounds like something is using up your resources in the background. Use task manager to see what is using up your system.
It is also possible it is your antivirus interfering with BD_RB. I did that movie with no problems.

SMKYep. Good advice. Adding CODEC packs just creates a mess. Not just for BD-RB, but pretty much everything. They intercept, interfere, redirect and all kinds of nasty stuff -- and most of the time the installer doesn't even have the common courtesy to tell you it is doing all this.
FFDSHOW has about every CODEC needed for almost any reason under the sun. No other CODEC pack is needed.

My full backup to BD-25 of A Good Day To Die Hard caused BD-RB to stop responding/crash on 01288m2ts, which is a 12.0 KB, MPEG-4 AVC, 1920 x 1080, 16:9, 23.976fps, NTSC Progressive file. (Per MediaInfo)
BD-RB could not get past this file!

I ripped that file several times and the result is always the same. Is there a setting in BD-RB to force it through an error/"bad spot" like this and move on to the next file in the queue?

Is it actually possible to use QuickSync instead of DGDecNV for frameserving. I think my GT520 is limiting very soon if I replace my CPU by a i7 4770; I think QuickSync is faster than a VP5.
There is already a ffdshow version supporting QuickSync, can this one also be used for BD Rebuilder. Thanks!

What I'm saying is the sometimes when a new protection mechanism is released, you have to wait a bit for the ripping software to compensate. So ripping it over-and-over won't do a thing until that happens. I don't know yet, though, that it even IS a ripping issue.
I picked that disc up today -- and will run it to see what I find. But if it is a new protection, I'd have to leave it to the AnyDVD folks to address it.

I'll see if I can find it and test it myself also.

I have had problems with that title too. In fact, I have ripped it from two different discs with similar results. My problem has not been with BDRB - it finishes ok. However, even when playing the ripped version, it stalls after the initial MGM logo and you have to select skip to next chapter to get it to continue.
I think there is either an authoring problem or a problem with AnyDVDHD.

Just a note to let you know that on 6/09, I used v.44.09 to perform a full backup to BD-25 of "A Good Day To Die Hard". The resultant disc was processed properly by BD-RB, INCLUDING 01288m2ts, which is a 12.0 KB (and remained as part of the fial backup)...

The resultant disc was processed properly by BD-RB, INCLUDING 01288m2ts, which is a 12.0 KB (and remained as part of the fial backup)... I just went through my notes... and I see nothing that could affect that. Almost everything in the 0.44.13 release is applicable only to ALTERNATE output and importing.
I'll be running it later today.
[Edit] I just opened the disc for input for a full backup. That file (01288.m2ts) isn't even on the list of files to be processed. It is just copied intact from source to destination. So the only way it could have any impact at is if someone is playing with the hidden settings and has set the minimum M2TS size to something ridiculously small.
I'd recommend that anyone having an issue first try renaming their INI file and reopening BD-RB so it can do the backup with it defaults.
[Edit] Ughhh.. 99 streams to encode. This is taking forever...

I did have "MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0", for blanking purposes of fbi warnings, etc... :( Not sure how else to get them to be available to blank.
(I guess I could just try and go back to multiAVCHD for blanking the warnings after BD-RB completes)

I'll set MIN_M2TS_SIZE=0 and look at what is happening. But I would highly recommend that you not use it for standard backups. There's just nothing to be accomplished by deciding to reencode 16KB files other than making things harder. This disc has almost no startups to blank.
[Edit] 337 files to process??? Double uggh... I'll have to run this one overnight
