@jdobbs
I know you are a busy, busy guy but do you have any thoughts on cause and how I might fix this? Can you post your config? I haven't seen a BD-RB oversize in a long, long time -- but there's quite a bit of new code in the blanking routines.

Sorry...config? I included the logs in my original post. Are you requesting the .ini file or my system configuration? If you are talking about the .ini, I have done a number of builds since the extras build but will try to re-create it as is was for that build.

[13:41:12] - Aborted by user request The real error is that the encode failed... which is normally due to system instability. If you are overclocked, your system needs to be adjusted. If not, you need to look at your cooling (heatsink etc.).
If you decide to edit the log because it is long... please leave in the useful part from the beginning so I can get some idea of what parameters you are using...

I know the blanking is still experimental, but I find it working very well .. except when I do several discs at once in batch.
I select a disc, blank what I want, and choose "add to batch" .. and then open the next one and do the same, and so on.
The end result is that the stuff I selected for blanking isn't blanked. I find it weird, since when I look at a disc in the batch serie under it's settings, I do see for instance "blank=1101010101" , which I presume is blank first & second, keep third ...
Anyone else have the same issue ?
I'll check it out.
hey .. have you had any chance to check this out ? Not that urgent, but I have around 12 discs I want to queue :) Not interested in putting them all through multiavchd first before I can queue them in bd rebuilder.

Thanks for the reply. :-) The real error is that the encode failed... which is normally due to system instability. If you are overclocked, your system needs to be adjusted. If not, you need to look at your cooling (heatsink etc.).Not overclocked system, temps totally under control, and encoding fails only with this title and only at this exact point (tried 3 times in a row).
I've done lots of rebuilds on this machine already (prior to 0.41 and since), never a glitch. Since this fail with "Inception", I encoded 5 other movies without any problem.
If you decide to edit the log because it is long... please leave in the useful part from the beginning so I can get some idea of what parameters you are using...I thought I posted the full log, sorry, seems like half got lost in the cut/paste process... I just deleted the logs, damn. I'll re-launch the process and post back.

encoding fails only with this title and only at this exact point (tried 3 times in a row).
Are you sure it's not a bad rip? Perhaps a small scratch on the disc that gets through the rip process without error but causes problems during the re-encode.

I'll re-launch the process and post back. After it fails, grab the command line from LASTCMD.TXT (in the BD Rebuilder installation folder) and try to execute it from a DOS CMD window. You should see what error X264 is returning. Either something is wrong with the source or something is wrong with your system. If X264 returns an error it is the source. If it crashes, it is your system. If it says something is wrong with the command line, the it is likely BD-RB. There's also a small chance that there is some issue in X264, but if that were the case (or the command line were at fault) it would likely be common to all encodes and I would be inundated with reports.

Are you sure it's not a bad rip?
I set Dvdfab so it doesn't skip errors and that it expressedly reports any reading error. But one can never be 100% sure, of course. I was actually thinking along the same lines.
I don't have the original disc at hand but will come back as soon as I can rip it again.

grab the command line from LASTCMD.TXT (in the BD Rebuilder installation folder) and try to execute it from a DOS CMD window. Trying this was kinda fun.
I'm by no means a command line expert. So as I pasted the command, I was at a total loss when my PC's integrated loudspeaker started beeping relentlessly for about a minute (apparently, a beep for each character in the command....) *LOL* :D And only part of the command (the first 32 characters) was actually pasted. Strange thing. I'll google/research this.
Starting over with a fresh rip didn't solve the issue BTW.

I fixed the "CorrectMPLS() 00006 2403" error that was mentioned earlier. It turns out I was using the wrong variable type for part of the timestamp processing in updating the MPLS and those reported discs has some unusually large values that caused it to overflow. It'll be included in a soon-to-be-released version.

Hi jdobbs.
Doing a movie only backup of Fringe Season 1 Disc 2. I prefer to backup each episode via selected Movie Only Playlist for all my series based discs and it usually works fine. With this one however I am given 2 Playlist choices, one at 3h 19, 32 chapters and one at 3h 17m 29 chapters. These I am guessing are 2 variants of the "Play All" option on the menu. There are actually 3 episodes on the disc but BDR does not seem to be locating the episode only playlists for these. Oh, I tried processing the first Play All playlist and it did indeed produce one single output of all 3 episodes together but thye sound goes out of sync from the 2nd episode.
Is there anything I can do to get BDR to offer up the episode only playlists?

Ahh yes good old variable types (long double, long int etc.). Thanks for looking into this. Much appreciated. I will be anxiously waiting for the next beta release :)

Is there anything I can do to get BDR to offer up the episode only playlists? Is it possible you have set a large value for MIN_PLAYLIST_MINS (minimum playlist minutes) in the config file? Normally any playlist with over 15 minutes of content will be listed as a choice.

Am I correct that each of the following examples would result in NO processing for DTSExpress audio?:
1) No entry in .INI file for DTSX_ENABLE=
2) Entry in .INI file ;DTSX_ENABLE=1
3) Entry in .INI file DTSX_ENABLE=0

Been a while since I've posted here :p
I seem to have a selective memory. I apologize for asking something which has likely been answered at least once before. But at least asking it, I'm 10X more likely to remember it LOL!
I'm dealing with a disc/s that has a video commentary track with a secondary DTS(express) track. No matter what I seem to do to the settings, it removes it regardless. '
It's "The Pacific" if that holds any relevance ;)
Is it because BD rebuilder believes it to be an exact duplicate track? Thereby not needing it?

Is it because BD rebuilder believes it to be an exact duplicate track? Thereby not needing it? You need to add DTSX_ENABLE=1 to the [Options] area of your config/ini file. It's disabled by default because the remuxing of the DTSX track is experimental and still doesn't work on some players. Wish I knew why... with a little luck maybe there is some smart person out there who can find what I can't. I've done a considerable amount of banging my head against that one.

That's a different error... the other one was an "overflow error" (00006) and yours is a "subscript out of range" error (00009). I believe that can only happen if the original is corrupt and one of the internal MPLS's indexes is wrong, but I'll double check. Hmm... odd that these are popping up all at once. That code is executed for every full backup... and it is a small section of code.
I wouldn't trust an MPLS that got an error. That means it was never updated with new information (like a change in video type, audio type, etc). If BD-RB is updating it, that means it shouldn't match the original after updating... BD-RB doesn't attempt to update MPLSs that don't require changes in the rebuild. You'd have to be extremely lucky for everything to "fall into place".
Yup played the disk on Sat and it hangs .... Black screen right before the play menue comes on (LG BD551). I did test this on my PC and the disk did work, menue and all chapters(TMT3), never had a chance to test it on my Sony S360 before leaving home Friday but will try when I get home.

I have a number of selections I have authored with TMPgenc Authoring Works 4 (football games, actually) where I have created menus to select by quarters. When I compress them with BD_Rebuilder the menus no longer function. The m2ts files are compressed fine, however, (along with the menu file which is also m2ts).
TMPgenc reencodes all the original video to AVC.
The original plays fine with TMT3, but the reduced copy does not.
Is it your intention to make bd_rb work with selections not authored by the movie houses? If not, I understand.
One thing I did notice when comparing the before and after with BDedit is that the .clpi file for the BD-RB output is missing the IG stream. I believe this has the menu items.
JDobbs,
I believe you put a workaround in 37.04 for this but I have encountered it again. I have a BD authored with TMPGenc Authoring Works 5 that contains 5 m2ts files one of which is the menu. It is 302MB and the menus did not work after BDRB processing. I noticed the MIN_M2TS_SIZE parameter in Hidden Opts has a default of 100MB, so I figure if I changed it to 400 it would bypass processing of the menu. It didn't. Could something have changed to effectively ignore that option? When I enter it into BDREBUILDER.INI, should it have shown up in the .inf file? It doesn't.

If you have DTSX_ENABLE=1 in your INI, try setting it to "0". That flag also instructs BD-RB to attempt to demux/remux IGS streams.

I don't use that option (see below).
FYI. When I replaced the .m2ts, .clpi, and .mpls files with the originals, everything plays fine.

I hotly doubt that is an original disc. The volume name is not one studios would use, the source size also isn't right. Mine is 35GB + while yours is barely 25GB, combine that with that mpeg1 error and your looking at a downloaded movie most likely. Blurays don't use the MPEG1codec but among others MPEG2!!!

Rental discs don't use discnames like that either, i don't believe that it an original disc. Rental or storebought neither use a discname like that. Restarting a job won't give an error like that either.

Indeed. I've never seen PLAYLIST in the disc title. I'd probably never rename it to that either. Unless to remind myself of a good working playlist.

Is it possible you have set a large value for MIN_PLAYLIST_MINS (minimum playlist minutes) in the config file? Normally any playlist with over 15 minutes of content will be listed as a choice.
Assuming the config file is "BDREBUILDER.INI" (Sorry to sound like the div kid @ school but I have yet to play around with these settings) then no I haven't changed the default. Other episode discs with run times per episode of 50 mins or abouts always seem to be OK - this is the first time I have had this issue.
BTW, can you confirm this is the correct config file with which to set my own custom settings for each job?

Oh please you ain't fooling me. That's not an original discname for that either. And again the correct playlist for hunger games ain't 800. The only way ill believe that volume name is with a print screen of windows explorer with the disc inside the drive and not mounted in a virtual one. Combine that with what you're doing ripping rentals without owning the original yourself is pure movie piracy. I doubt you'll get any further "help" by anyone.

CH3vr0n... If you can't find an explanation, then please refrain from commenting. The discs are ripped and have been returned days ago (rental for new movies is 1 day, here, at Videotron). I do own some Blue Rays. Curious what I will get with those, as far as BDR is showing as name/playlist.
To Omegaman7/Adbear... I don't recall every seeing the playlist as part of the name withing BDR. before. The last time I ripped/BDR'd was at the end of June (very little worth renting these days).
If you look at the video file that it aborted on, it's no even part of the playlist which is more baffling.

Adbear

Well AnyDVD HD gets the name from the disc, so it's not AnyDVD HD that's putting it in.
If you try to play the original rips do they play back with full disc structure. Do they play the menu, then when you choose an option in the menu does the disc then play?
It appears to be BD rebuilder putting in the playlist text. I just tested making a 'movie only' on my system and the source comes up as 'A_TEAM_PLAYLIST_00801'
I don't normally do 'movie only' backups so I've never seen this before
You might want to check the file that's causing the encode to fail to see if it really is Mpeg1 or if the file is corrupt

Ya, 116 seems to be buggered up. It's also only 79 kb's.
I made a mistake earlier..it is in the playlist. I didn't scroll far enough down in the BDR window.
If I knew how I could remove it from the playlist, that would be worth a try.

I've had bad rips due to my Lite-on drive iHES108. They made it through the encode, but there were problems with the output. E.g. the audio would be non existent in certain segments. Although the rip itself appeared fine. Apparently the audio encoder simply isn't noticing a problem. I only use that drive for quality scanning now. My LG WH10LS30 is also non trustworthy. It reads perfectly, but every burn is a coaster now. Thankfully, I put a 3yr warranty on the successor (WH12LS39). If this one quits prematurely, I may be done with LG drives. Which would suck, since I love the living room player BD640.
Ok. Now I see what's going on. Movie only mode causes the title to change :S
I see Adbear has also discovered this :p

Sounds like you have a faulty file. If you remove the file then you'll have a part of the movie missing. You need to re-rip the movie

If it's really BDRB that's doing that playlist thing then i owe you an apology. Sorry, it just looked too much like an illegitimate disc with that source name. That being said it does look like a corrupt rip, AFAIK BD's don't use MPEG1 codec but either MPEG2, AVC or VC-1.

Accepted.
Unfortunately I do not have the disc anymore. The other 2 movies, I rented at the same, ripped and ran through BDR fine, though.
I've also had issues with Blue Ray burners in the past, but never read problems. Usually write issues where they won't play in stand alone players. Solution, replace the reader/burner.

Try and find a fairly rough looking disc. Whether it rips it with ease, or struggle, is not exactly a determining factor. Bd Rebuilder(and tools) seems to be the true test. If it makes it through without consequence, you have yourself an agreeable reader ;) I've had discs that slowed to 2Mb/s. I assumed the rip went south. I've seen warps in the dyes already too. Tiny bubbled up areas.

Yup. BDRB is definitely appending the playlist number to the disc label. I didn't notice before, but I just looked at the log history and this started happening with the latest BDRB release. Not sure if it only affects "movie only" backups; all my backups are movie-only.
Ch3vr0n
3rd September 2012, 23:57
i did 5 rebuild so far in the past 2 days and it doesnt affect full disc backups nor movie+menu (with blanking) option. It's logical though, apart from blanking some shit out you keep the full disc structure so BDRB doesnt need a specific playlist to use

Verstuurd van mijn HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e met Tapatalk The PLAYLIST portion of the name is added by BD-RB. I added it because there was no other way to know whether you were backing up the correct playlist, and I got tired of going back and reselecting over-and-over when I wasn't sure. It only applies to movie-only backups. From the change log:- Added the MPLS (playlist) number to the title section
of the stream list when MOVIE-ONLY mode is selected.
This is to avoid confusion as to which playlist is
active at any point in time. The playlist number
is also now displayed as a part of the batch list. It also makes it easier when you're backing up individual episodes from series disc (e.g. to MP4). That way you know which episodes have been done and which haven't.

Good to know! It's not a bug... it's a feature :)
(I suppose I should read the change log more often. I usually just upgrade and go. With never a complaint).
