I outputed to DVD-5. Dvd compliancy. I rarely do it, but in this instance, I was both curious, and needed such a backup :)

Then uncheck it. That's why its there.

Yes, unchecking things, is something I think I can handle Jd.

But more importantly, I would appreciate your responses here

The problem I'm having completing the command line, wouldn't that also occur if I tried to compress LCPM mono, since from what I can gather from the code you gave me Aften would be required for that as well.

And the system you set up XP on, might that be a factor if yours was a multi core with large RAM allocations?

[Edit] The answer is no. Only an estimate is made. The subtitles are still in BD format at the time the encode takes place so their final output size is unknown. In fact, the subs are never a "distinct" entity from which size can be determined at any time, as they are integrated directly from PNG files.

Can you take a look at this: Running the command before the pipe.

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>c:\accessories\BD_Rebuilder\tools\wavi.e
xe "D:\BD REB WORK FOLDER\WORKFILES\AUD_00001_4352.AVS"

Yields this

Error: Could not find PCM audio track in "D:\BD REB WORK FOLDER\WORKFILES\AUD_00001_4352.AVS".

audio=NicDTSSource("00001.track_4352.dts").Amplify(1.2)
ConvertAudioTo16bit(ResampleAudio(audio, 48000))

And "00001.track_4352.dts" exists as well 1.4 gb and is playable.

Does this indicate another problem aside from the stdin/out issue?

Also
".......aften.exe -v 1 -b 640 -readtoeof 1 -" can you explain this part of the command?

"D:\BD REB WORK FOLDER\WORKFILES\TESTER.WAV".

Have you tried downloading and installing BD-RB again? There's always the chance that WAVI.EXE has been corrupted in some way.

I had to try this on one of my favorite movies (Shawshank Redemption) and it's pretty slick.
You'd asked for comments some of which I gave previously--this conversion has completed now and it all appears to have worked. The blanks were blanked yet everything "plays through" as it should. So thanks for this new capability! :)

EDIT: In looking at the .MPLS for the feature, it does appear that the non-Eng audio/subs are properly identified as fra, jpn, spa, etc in there. So maybe this is a quirk of my software program Arcsoft TMT 3; yes, it is. It is not a problem with TMT 5. Sorry jdobbs for wasting your time with this. I'll leave my erroneous comment here for posterity i.e. other TMT3 users may encounter it:

One other comment I would make, this disc does in the end have three Eng audiotracks out of 6 total. But after re-building, there are shown fully 6 English audiotracks (and 10 English subtitle tracks). Hard to find the "real" tracks out of all these--I wonder if in the future you'd consider letting the user assign a different code to the "blanked" audio/subs e.g. zxx or something.

@jdobbs (This seems to have fallen down a crack)

If I am doing a FULL DISC or MOVIE-ONLY and the main movie is 1080i, if I select "Deinterlace" from Settings>>Setup, should BD-RB convert it to 1080p?

@jdobbs (This seems to have fallen down a crack)

If I am doing a FULL DISC or MOVIE-ONLY and the main movie is 1080i, if I select "Deinterlace" from Settings>>Setup, should BD-RB convert it to 1080p? It will deinterlace it (making it essentially progressive) but it will still be played as 1080i (because blu-ray doesn't allow 29.97 progressive).

If, however, the source is telecined and you have IVTC set -- it will be inverse telecined and become 23.976 progressive.

Attempting to do a full backup of BOURNE_IDENT, with Edit selected to enable blanking. I would like to test blanking the three warnings and the short 14 second long Deluxe Digital Studios advertisement. The files I want to blank are 00001.m2ts, the 14 second advert, 00003.m2ts, 00004.m2ts and 00005.m2ts, which are the warnings. Only 00001.m2ts is listed in the list available to blank.
( Tree list starts with 00000.m2ts, then 00001.m2ts, then jumps to 00010.m2ts, which is the movie. Then it jumps to VID_00050 and up. )
What am I missing? :(

Was working perfectly till i upgraded to latest.... ridiculous.... Since it is working for everyone else the question would be: "What else have you changed on your system?" The odds are high you'll find your problem there.

Also... since you're using the program for free, keep your attitude in check. Go to any "option" you prefer, but I'd be surprised if you'll be able to "go" without your checkbook. I'd be even more surprised if the output was even close in quality to what you get for free with BD-RB.

Some people's sense of entitlement is what I find "ridiculous".

What's even funnier is that you waited two days to get your DOOM9 account, only to make your first post a "whine" without any description of your problem, log, error report, or issue...

I just got 3 of these, left untouched in Auto-blank mode as superfluous clips which couldn't be blanked on the disc I PMed you earlier today.
(Seems that there's just too much space left on BD disks to accommodate all kind of crap.)

If it's not letting you blank them, there's gotta be a reason. Either is has IGS in a subpath, is linked to another MPLS that has IGS, it has menu flags of some kind, or it is "leader/trailer" info related to a menu. You're saying their telecined at 1080i? What disc is it?

I read your PMs -- but I don't see the connection? In those you were talking about CRF sizing.

Well let me put that one to rest, out of all the BD programs out there there may be one other which works sort of decent. Yours blows it away. Not just quality of image and processing speed, but versatility and functionality. Try fast forward or reverse with anything else and you will find they never can and often freeze the video.

And if I have had certain difficulty with the AC3 conversions, none of the others offer it anyway. If I can get it to work it would be like icing on one of the best cakes.

Keep up the good work JD, I don't think I'm wrong to say that more people appreciate your efforts then they let on.:thanks:

I must retract most of my post, and also give accolades to the development team...
Lack of sleep, and frustration in other areas, so my apologies..

I'm usually extremely capable to troubleshooting, but this one has me pretty good....

I'll do complete uninstall of all programs, reload, reconfigure, and see where that leads.

Yes, as most say, the app is light years ahead of anything else, and again, my hat off to development team.

Jim,

Nobody can help you if you don't give more information. I have no ideal what you are trying to say by "the "x264.exe" error".

You should post the log from your latest attempt (copy from the end of your BD-Rebuilder log file in your working folder). You should post your "BD-Rebuilder.ini" file. You should post the contents of your "inspect.exe" results. You must state the EXACT wording of the error messages that you see.

We can't help you if you don't help us understand the issue.

Yes, same disc I reported about the CRF sizing. The crf sizing is however solved. The disk is Enemy of the state, region 2.
3 files are kept in Auto-blank mode, which look like poor quality uspscaled and telecined 1080i@29.97 DVD clips. I don't find these related to a menu, but I'll check again if I find some link.

Jdobbs,

Thank you so much for your efforts and all the time you have put into BDRebuilder... It is an amazing little application and you deserve far more praise then you get. I have had good luck with the app as you are very complete in your documentation and the thing just works or problems are usually swiftly resolved in new versions. I did run into an error for the first time that has me scratching my head. It may just be the disk itself or something with the file structure but I thought I would provide some information and see if you may have some insight as to what is going on. No rush or anything but if you could decode the following error messages it would be a big help:

Basically I did a FULL BACKUP with quick encode for extras (2pass / HIGH QUALITY) to fit on Custom size 24400 BD25 Disk and all the encoding went flawlessly without an incident as usual but I ran into an error when building the FINAL BD structure that resulted in:
CopyDirStructure() 00005 1200

I checked file permissions and made sure I was running BDRebuilder as Administrator and everything seems to be inline. First time with this error so I am a bit perplexed as to what is happening. It is also worth mentioning I am reading the cloned disk as a mounted virtual drive using Virtual Clone Drive but I have always done that and been on the same version for six months now. I backed down to the previous BD rebuilder and tried again but end up with the same error code. Also no major system changed in the last few months... Codecs and everything are still the same so I can't think of any third party software that may be causing the issue especially since it is during a file operation rather than encoding...

Thank you kindly for any insight you may have on the matter.

Regards,
CannibalC

@cannibalc

Odd one. The "00005" indicates a bad parameter that has been passed to a subroutine. It's happening in a routine that is copying the folder structure from the source to the destination. I just looked through the code. Essentially BD-RB does a directory scan using O/S calls and pulls the names of all folders, it then goes through all those folders doing the same stepping down the folder tree. The parameters are all provided by the operating system (as folder names).

Any chance you have issues on your source or destination hard drive? Try running chkdsk.

jobbs,

Sorry man... Actually I figured out the issue a few hours ago. Hehe you called it... it was a corrupt file on the cloned ISO file itself. I used teracopy to copy the entire cloned ISO to another drive and low and behold it appears there was a single JAR file that was unreadable. I rebuilt the ISO without the JAR and resumed the Bdrebuilder job and it passed without any issues...and final disc played perfectly. I'll be sure to utilize this process in the future if this occurs again. Usually I just verify the integrity of the m2ts files with EAC3to and move ahead if everything passes... Never ran into an issue with any other files but it must have been something on the original disk itself even though when I cloned it no errors were encountered. I even checked the hard drive I originally wrote the image to see if there were any issues with bad sectors... Everything came back clean and SMART didn't indicate any issues. Hehe must have been the original disk... perhaps an intentionally corrupt file to thwart simple clone backups.

Sorry for taking up your time.

Once again can't thank you enough for BDRebuilder...phenomenal app! As soon as I land a new job I'll definitely get a donation to you to further show my gratitude.

jdobbs,

Am rebuilding one of my BDs, but the output ISO is 37GB. Second time this has happened with this particular disk. Here is my log. Any ideas? This is the only disk I have experience this with, all others rebuild with no problems.

I used search and FAQ and could not find an answer to this question.

Say I want to burn to BD25 but the backup is a tad over. I would like to do full backup, keep movie untouched, but re-encode the extras/supplements down as much as neeeded to meet target.

Can and how can this be done?

I did find that:
"Quicker" Encode for Extras means you prefer a faster encoding setting for the extras."

But does that mean it will reduce the extras down and by how much and can it be adjusted?

What happens if even after it compresses the extras it misses the target and thus kicks in re-encoding on the movie. Is there a way to force it to not re-encode main movie and more importantly can I adjust the quick settings to add more compression and then give it a go on a second try.

UPDATE:
Ok, I did check hidden opts and this time noticed in there these options:

ALTCRF=n (n = 0-50) - CRF value to use for Alternate Movie-Only encodes (default=20)
FORCE_NOENCODE=n n = 0/1 - if set to 1, BD-RB will always use original video

But still unsure of 2 things. If FORCE_NOENCODE=1 does that apply to the extras as well even though QUICK for extras is set? And I assume a higher CRF adds more compression - correct?

2nd Movie & Menu's test encode completed without a hitch. Space Battleship Yamato shrunk perfectly, blanking worked flawless. Disc play's through them like they were normal clips, and proceeds to playing the next title. Love the blanking feature

The other night, I ran Star Trek TOS S1D1. I blanked 6 identical trailers(Star Trek 2009) 2.07Gb. It worked perfectly. The output was 22.1Gb. That's plenty close enough :) I thought for sure it would have been ~20Gb. Not sure why TMT5 displays the aspect improperly, but that's a different problem. Wish they'd get on the ball with Star Trek TNG :( A lot of people say they won't do it. Time effort money... I say the return would be worth it if they offered enough on the BD's ;) Heck, I'd easily spend 1,000USD on the complete TNG BD set!
Awesome software JD :D

I came across a sync issue today:
Source is BD with 2 DTS language tracks selected.
While the backup to BD5 was perfect, I found that on the DVD5 alternate (mpeg2) PAL output one audio track was offset by about 3 seconds, the other audio track was in sync.

For the BD source I found:
Audio track 1 = 2876 ms delay
Audio track 2 = 0 ms delay

Normally audio delays are 0ms for most BD's I think, so this particular case looks like an exception. My question is if BD RB is supposed to handle such cases for DVD5 alternate PAL backup, or if this is beyond the scope and I should adjust the delay manually, or put it aside...

jdobbs... I don't know if this is a previous issue, I set everything to auto for encode quality, used the movie and menu only options, and set to BD-9 but my encode came out to be oversized. I only kept one audio track and that is DTS. I had to re-ran that encode to BD-RB once again to get it to reduce to size. I deleted the inf file by accident already but do you know what the issue could be?

Not without the BDRB logfile he won't

Oh and @Jdobbs. Just finished another BDRB blanking encode. Thor this time, plays back flawlessley. Skips all that oppinion & trailer shit and skip right down to the menu. great new feature. I aint doing "full disc backups" no more. I'm doing movie & menu's with blanking :)

@Ch3vr0n I aint doing "full disc backups" no more. I'm doing movie & menu's with blankingWhat, and miss out on slogging through the 10 or 12 old trailers that SONY, IFC, and others insist on putting on every Blu-ray disc they crank out? ;>}

I recently noticed that most releases now are using DTS-MA.

I also read somewhere:
Every DTS HD Tracks has encoded a DTS "core" inside ,which is a "standard" DTS 1536kbps 5.1. You can extract the dtscore lossless from DTS HD ! So you have the encoded 1536kbps DTS core without Quality loss from a senseless reencode

So, where is the option or what setting do I need to use in BD-Rebuilder to tell it to use the core DTS?
I see a DTS_REENCODE, but I dont want a renencode, I want it to extract the core from DTS. Is this possible with all DTS-MA releases, that is, must a core be provided inside the DTS-MA stream?

I am familiar with the AC3 and LPCM hidden opts, but unsure how to setup to use DTS core from a DTS-MA release.

Can someone help.

UPDATE:
Ok, I see in setup an option "do not convert DTS to AC3". I also have keep HD Audio for BD25 checked. So I am thinking this must be the way to force it to use DTS core if the full HD audio will not fit.
But even after that does it know to adjust compression of video, that is, first it does audio to extract DTS core to see how much the video will now need to be compressed.

Thanks for the quick response jdobbs and thanks so much for the edit feature as I am doing my first test now.

Just select "Do reencode DTS"

Did you mean select "Do not rencode DTS to AC3"? As I do not see a "do reencode" option on setup dialog.

and uncheck "Keep HD audio" and you will get the core (assuming BD-25 backup)

Yes, this is BD25 backup. So even though DTS core is in an HD stream , it is not considered HD audio? I think I read somewhere that most blind tests cannot tell DTS core from DTS-MA. Is that typically the case?

And with typical movie just how much in size do you save from going from DTS-MA to DTS core?

i seem to be unable to get all the episodes copied off a disc. i've had this problem with band of brothers and lonesome dove. bdrb (v38.09) is set to full backup. win 7 home premium 64. using the latest plugins from your site. is there some other setting i'm missing?

I upgraded to latest version -- but now I keep getting 'x264.exe has stopped working' message. I've gotten it with three blu-ray discs so far. My settings have always been 'Target Size BD-25, Automatic Quality.'

Please see screenshot here: http://imageshack.us/f/593/snagit1.jpg/

I'm running Windows 7 32-bit, my ffdshow is configured exactly to BD-Rebuilder's specifications, has not changed in over six months so I don't know why this is happening now. Only change was forced update of BD-Rebuilder because previous version had expired. Inspect.exe tells me all files are 'ok'.

BTW--is it necessary to make older versions of BD-Rebuilder expire? I'm fairly certain, given all the successful uses I've gotten out of older versions, that I would NOT be having this problem with one of the many previous versions of BD-Rebuilder. Why restrict users to the later BETA versions if they're ALL BETA versions -- just a thought.

Did you upgrade EVERYTHING in the new BDRB zip file? You should just unzip the entire archive into a new folder and run BDRB from there. That way you get the latest version of BDRD plus all the associated required apps, including x264. If you just extract the BDRB exe file into your previous BDRB folder then you will be using the current version of BDRB but potentially out-of-date helper apps.

I say the above because LOTS of users (myself included) have upgraded to the latest version of BDRB with no trouble regarding x264. It is unlikely that there is a bug in BDRB, but rather that something in your configuration has gone wrong.

Why restrict users to the later BETA versions
It's just part of the deal we have with JDobbs. We get to use his s/w for free and he gets a pool of beta troubleshooters. If he didn't do this then he would get people issuing bug reports from all kinds of older versions, which would be an unmanageable situation. The first bit of advice would always be to upgrade to the latest version before any bug report would be considered. With the time-bomb in place, he, and we, are all using the same version, and that simplifies the troubleshooting process.

That being said, I understand your point that it was working fine and now you have a problem simply because you were forced to upgrade. That is an unfortunate situation.

I did upgrade everything -- what I did was just delete first the previous BDRebuilder folder (which I always kept in 'Program Files') and then unzip and place the new BDRebuilder in its place. I know overwriting files can cause weirdness, so I always just delete the old folder first.

So again, really don't know what is causing this except to say it is definitely because of the newer version of BDRebuilder.
