On the BD Rebuilder processed disc, the subtitles are not on automatically and you cannot control them in the main menu (on or off).
Based on this statement, you have not tried to turn on the subtitles by pressing the subtitle button on the remote, after starting the movie, as previously suggested?

Please provide the UPC as I might be able to look at it.

hello!
What is the process of converting bd to uhd, how does the preset "quality" change to other better quality and less speed?

I get a 30gb bd, 17gb uhd, I have 24000 mb custom target installed

One problem, when I want to convert (Converting to UHD-BD (HEVC) output format), it always uses h264 to encode, having NVENC activated in full backup, How can I enable HEVC in that mode?

other problem in Archive backup/aac , No matter what size you set for custom target, it is always the same output MB size.

Pushed all the buttons on the remote and none of them activated or showed the subtitles.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Normally there is a separate button for subtitles.

Normally there is a separate button for subtitles.

UPC?

Went right into main sub menu and selected subtitles on my LG UP970 since there is no dedicated subtitles button.

Subtitles there but do not display.

Although I appreciate the suggestions, it is clearly not a blu-ray player issue. When I checked the resulting ISO file in PowerDVD, I get the same results. No subtitles displaying.

Been playing with electronics like this for 45 years. Been using BD Rebuilder since it started in 2008.

I am pretty convinced there is a bug specifically on this disc with the re-encodng.

Have you evaluated the logs that I have attached to my original post? Do they reveal anything?

Is there a workaround suggestion to manually activate the subtitles? Is there a way to hardcode the subtitles in the working files before RB Rebuilder reassembles?

Thanks.

Greetings all,

First, I want to commend JDobbs on his commitment to this great program. Well done!

I am playing with a full backup of the new Godzilla Criterion 4K release.

The backup is in ISO format and when I play it in PowerDVD v20, it plays properly with the proper English subtitles. When I play the original disc in my 4K player, it plays fine (of course).

When I process the ISO to fit onto a BD50 in BDRebuilder, everything works except the English subtitles (even when selected in the main menu of the disc).

When I look at the M2TS file, there appears to be the subtitle

Rather frustrating when watching and listening with the Japanese sound track and no English subtitles.

I am attaching my log files to show the work done on the disc.

What am I missing? Or is there a bug that does not set the proper flag when rebuilding the file so that the subtitles turn on?

I appreciate any feedback, assistance or help offered.

Thanks,

Moviewatcher666

------------------------------------------------------

Well, holy crap! I fixed my subtitle problem with Godzilla 1954 4K Criterion Collection disc.

I got a clue from this post:
https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=2014947#post2014947

So, I decided to compare the MPLS playlist file from the original disc to the MPLS playlist created by BDR.

Under this section:
"number_of_PiP_PG_textST_stream_entries_plus": 0,
there was this entry from the original disc:

"type": 1,
"pid": 4608,
"stream_coding_type": "PGS",
"language_code": "eng",
"reserved01": 0

Under the same section in the BDR created playlist, the entry was this:

"type": 1,
"pid": 4768,
"stream_coding_type": "PGS",
"language_code": "eng",
"reserved01": 0

So I inserted the MPLS from the original disc into the disc structure created by BDR and created a new ISO file.

Put it into PowerDVD to play and now the subtitles work exactly like the original disc.

@jdobbs - I don't know if this is a bug but if you need to look at it further, just let me know and I can answer any questions you might have.

Hopefully, this can help somebody else down the line.

Thanks all!

Don't have UPC.

How can you not have the UPC if you have the original disc(s) and packaging.

So I inserted the MPLS from the original disc into the disc structure created by BDR and created a new ISO file.

I'm surprised that worked. I've sometimes swapped something out and the disc refused to play. You got lucky.

Looking at the info about this release, it has an English soundtrack, so why the worry about subtitles?

When you asked for UPC, we were discussing the blu-ray player. I thought you wanted it for the blu-ray player.

UPC for Godzilla is 715515305112.

I wasn't hopeful but thought I would try it. Comparing the MPLS files, that was the only difference. Virtually identical.

Like I said, there was a flag that was not set properly and that was it.

English is the commentary track. This movie is not dubbed. Language is Japanese with English subtitles only.

Although the soundtrack is in English, but, if English is not your mother tongue and although you both understand, speak and write fairly well English, English subtitles are an excellent support, just sayin'...

In the end I answer myself, I have managed to do the complete conversion from BD to UHD "full backup" with custom resize and with nvec encoder main 10 h265, recorded on disk and played on Xbox One perfectly. Where can I find the hidden commands that do not appear in HIDDENOPTS. TXT? I found these commands by reading you

I wasn't hopeful but thought I would try it. Comparing the MPLS files, that was the only difference. Virtually identical.

Like I said, there was a flag that was not set properly and that was it.

English is the commentary track. This movie is not dubbed. Language is Japanese with English subtitles only.

Your problem is similar to my problem, BD-Rebuilder is not using proper values for subtitles in the output disc.

According to your logs your subtitle track is in "1200" but UHD Blu-ray specs for HDR video requires subtitle track in "12A0". Because of this your player does not "see" your subtitle track.

Under this section:
"number_of_PiP_PG_textST_stream_entries_plus": 0,
there was this entry from the original disc:

"type": 1,
"pid": 4608,
"stream_coding_type": "PGS",
"language_code": "eng",
"reserved01": 0

Under the same section in the BDR created playlist, the entry was this:

"type": 1,
"pid": 4768,
"stream_coding_type": "PGS",
"language_code": "eng",
"reserved01": 0
The "ORIGINAL DISC" was using 0x1200 (4608)...

Since the original was 4K -- it would lead one to believe that the original was improperly authored?

Hi, very weird indeed if that is the case, but we can agree that a subtitle placed at 1200 for HDR video would no be show in a proper UHD player.

I'm currently having the inverse situation, original BR is using 1200 for subtitles in a SDR H265 playlist but BD-Rebuilder is using 12X0, resulting in missing subtitles when playing on my hardware player. Using BDEdit to manually correct the values works fine.

I may be wrong, though. I know it works, as I have a switch that allows it, but for some reason I thought it had to be H264.

I am playing with a full backup of the new Godzilla Criterion 4K release.
I downloaded a copy of the release in order to do a test. Well, that was a bust, because the main movie refused to recode. I get a PredictAndEncode error.

Oh well.

OK, rework of the Godzilla title was interesting. This time around, the title did not fail encoding. What did catch my eye was that the config file was set for 45+ GB as the target. But, in the end, it was only 37 GB. That was a big miss. As originally reported, the subtitles were not seen. The subtitle playback was set to on at movie start. So, the bug is confirmed.

And yes, the original failure code is also there. I wasn't expecting it. Usually when I see those error dialogs show up, they don't normally appear in the log. At least this time it was, since it did fail this time around.

At least this time it was, since it did fail this time around.The sizing isn't an issue. That's just as large as it could make it using CQM -- you'll note that the CQM value used was 1 -- that's the highest quality possible -- meaning it is pretty much identical to the original. To me that just means that a ridiculously high bitrate was used on the original.

I'll have to look at the subtitle problem... probably an issue with the PID.

The error you got (00070) was "permission denied". I'm guessing that for some reason the operating system thought a file BD-RB was trying to access was open or in use.

Hi,

Wondered if someone could help - attempting to backup Nosferatu (2024) and it's failing. It actually failed quite a few times during the process with error code "PredictAndEncode() 00075 2809" - I've tried restarting from scratch, but had the same outcome.

I then tried resuming from the previous job each time it failed, which felt like it was working; it eventually got up to the 100% but failed to rebuild with error code "TSMUXER ERR: 0xFFFFFFFE - Failed in attempt to multiplex: MUX_MOVIE_ONLY.meta"

It's one of those movies/discs that has multiple parts, rather than just one m2ts file - not sure if this is the issue, but I've not had this problem before.

Log is below - any help would be greatly appreciated;

That error code (75) means "Path/File access error". You may want to check the path to your working or source folder(s) and see if it has some unusual characters, or if it is exceptionally long.

Thanks for your reply - I'll take a look, but I do the same thing every time and just create a new folder, automatically called New Folder by Windows and then rip using DVDFab, so the structure within is always the same.

But I'll give it another go from scratch.

Many thanks

Exceptionally long would be more than 259".
Or characters. Whatever seems more important under given circumstances. ;-}}

How does BDRB determine how many frames are in a file? I just had BDRB bail because it only got 167640 frames of 179976 frames. But, there are only 167640 frames in the file. I pulled the file into VRD and it shows 167640 frames. I went to the end of the file and it is not truncated.

So, I thought I would edit the AVS file for the video. Well that didn't work. BDRB rebuilt the file.

Bug?

Bug?BD-RB gets the frame count from data in the MPLS file (length and framerate). Are you getting an error? If so, what error? It's been a while since I looked at that code, but, if I remember correctly, I don't think it should fail even if the frame count was wrong.

Yep, as indicated in the posting, the frame count is less than what BDRB is told that it should be. When BDRB hits the real frame count, it fails indicating that the frame count was less than expected.

I just used BDEdit to look at the playlist and took the length of 1:56:31.985 (6991.95 sec) and came up with 167638.9932 frames. Just one frame shy. I have no idea where BDRB came up with 179976 frames.

That worked. Re-encode completed. Thanks.It was created specifically for NVENC support. If I remember correctly, I added the frame count check because it was the only way I could identify when it crashed (at that time). The hidden option was put there as a workaround in case something (like your issue) popped up.

Does this mean that your website is no more? Or is it temporary as it is still listed in your signature.

Sorry to read that. My website, etc., is on my personal Linux server, about 6 ft from where I am sitting. No paying a 3rd party to host it. Much cheaper.

I had mine running on my server here too. It's the fixed IP VPN costs that I was referring to. The VPN stopped working (quit forwarding ports) for the umpteenth time last week and I decided to call it quits before I had to renew it.

I have a static IP business account, that I recently updated to 1Gbps down/50 Mbps up. It is a cable connection. They have work to do before the 50 Mbps up can be increased. It is just taking them a long time. No VPN involved. True that it isn't cheap, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. To go from 100 Mbps down to 10x faster was not 10x the price. It wasn't even double.

Another user at a different site was trying to use BDRB to back up a UHD disc to BD disc (2160p to 1080p). Is that possible?

I would love to know that too... No disrespect to our esteemed host (despite his inability to hear Lossless audio) but what I've been using to convert UHD with HDR to 1080 SDR is Clever FFMpeg by ProWo, I believe it is here on this site. I kept trying to figure out how to use BDRB, but never could and then stumbled on that fellow's excellent program. I always still use BDRB though for shrinking Blu-rays to fit a BD25 and also to import Xtras to create a Quick Play menu.

But, it is SO quick and easy to plug in the video file and boom Clever FFMpeg which is VERY fast, also converts HEVC files to AVC files, something I KNOW BDRB can do, but I could never quite figure out how to do it properly. The AV always seemed out of sync for some reason. So, that other program is great for doing those 2 kinds of conversions.
