FYI folks, if you try to make a movie-only backup of Danish title "Klovn - the movie" and output is all messed up, be aware that it appears to be an issue with tsMuxeR, not BD-RB. Took me a while and some empirical tests to figure that out. Wow. "all messed up" doesn't give me a lot of information as to what might be done to fix it.

I think you misunderstood the intent of my post. It was not in any way a comment on BD-RB's abilities; simply a FYI to anyone processing that particular title with BD-RB. I'm fairly certain you can't fix it because it's not caused by BD-RB.
I first processed the title with BD-RB and it came out stuttering really badly without audio. MediaInfo's data for the m2ts looked pretty odd so I guessed the problem lies with tsMuxeR (and not for the first time either). I dropped the movie file into tsMuxeR, remuxed into Blu-ray and output behaved exactly the same way.
Remuxing same movie file into Blu-ray with the old TsRemux (v0.0.21.2) results in a properly playing Blu-ray. QED, tsMuxeR dropped the ball, not BD-RB.
By the way, talking about giving you information... do you check your PMs?

But "messed up" and "pretty odd" are not helpful if you're trying to get anyone to understand-or-appreciate what you are seeing!

What the H? My post wasn't trying to describe what I'm seeing! Set aside the caveman brain's urge for tribalism and taking sides, and think for a moment. I was simply letting people know that processing this particular BD doesn't work because of tsMuxeR; in other words, don't blame BD-RB if trying to process this title.
I assumed, foolishly it seems, that people reading this thread are aware of the dependency relationship between BD-RB and tsMuxeR, and of tsMuxeR's development status.

I've fixed lots of problems caused by TSMUXER. It's just that most people don't know BD-RB is doing it.
And nice work you've been doing, certainly. I suppose Klovn and those two japanese releases I mentioned earlier are throwing curveballs you haven't seen yet. Klovn, a Danish title, is flagged 1080i50 bottom field first, which is something I haven't seen on European releases previously.

I may create a 1080i50 from scratch and see how TSMUXER handles it. By 1080i50 I assume you mean 1080i @ 25 fps (which is sometimes referred to as 1080i50 because of the 50 fields per second).

Just completed True Blood season 3 disc 3, and a whopping 36 .dts audio tracks were not converted to ac3  Just wanted to let you know that I finally picked this ups and tested it. For some reason NicDTSSource() just won't decode those files. I'll looking into a solution. I'll probably have to use DirectShowSource() to decode them when I run into this.
Weird though, I wonder what is different about them? These are the first DTS streams I've had an issue with.

Yes this is a strange one. :p
Disc 5 has over 200 DTS tracks that are not converted!
Yet there are a few that do get converted though.
I am pretty confident you will find and correct this issue, as rare as it probably is. :)

In totally (?) unrelated news, I got the idea of running the Japanese release of Sky Captain through TsRemux first. As I probably mentioned earlier, both full backup and movie-only backup come out of BD-RB with picture and audio severely (as in several seconds) out-of-sync. Since TsRemux was able to create a fully working movie-only backup of "Klovn", I thought it might do the same for Sky Captain, and it did. However, whereas movie-only of Klovn needed no further processing (it fits on a BD25), Sky Captain's movie-only is almost 29GB. Processing TsRemuxed movie-only output through BD-RB results in audio being out-of-sync. There's something quite odd about the Japanese releases of Sky Captain and Sleepy Hollow :/

demux it with eac3to. Does that still mess it up?

Sorry to repeat, :o , but did you also experience the subtitles issue where they are always displayed with no capabilities to turn them off?

@jdobbs, @Capsbackup
Could the problem you folks are discussing have anything to do with the following type of Compressed DTS?

The DTS audio properties for this disc vary from 768kbps/ 2.0/ 48kHz/24 bit and 768kbps/ 5.1/48kHz/24 bit and 256kbps/ 2.0/ 48kHz/24 bit. ( The ones that are not converting to AC3 )

Sorry. My backup is playing correctly (no subtitles). Any more information that might help me repeat it?
Here's how I tested it:
1. Inserted disc
2. Waited for menu
3. Selected "Episodes"
4. Chose the first episode and played it.
5. No subtitles.
By the way, I've fixed the other issue. BD-RB looks for it to occur, and then switches to DirectshowSource() as the audio source. I just tested that too, and it works fine. If I don't get any negative feedback when I release this version, I may make DirectshowSource() the default at some point in the future.

I tried all five discs with the same results for all five, subtitles always on with no way to turn them off. These were BD9 full backups. Here is the inf and ini for disc 3. Hope it might help. I can't see what I could do differently regarding the subtitles displaying or not, so I am at a loss on this one!

My test was a BD-25 backup. I'll try a BD-9 backup today.

I tried all five discs with the same results for all five, subtitles always on with no way to turn them off. These were BD9 full backups. Here is the inf and ini for disc 3. Hope it might help. I can't see what I could do differently regarding the subtitles displaying or not, so I am at a loss on this one! Well... by reencoding with your INI I'm able to repeat the problem. But I can't for the life of me find any reason why it is happening. I went through every video that is encoded (that isn't encoded in BD-25) -- nothing. I even wrote the BD-9 structure to a BD-RE with the same results.
I'm scratching my head on this one so far.

Sorry to say I am relieved that it is not just me! :o I did burn my BD9 to BD-RE with the same results too.(subtitles always displayed) I did not try a BD-25 backup, but it sounds like that would be successfull. :)
Well this is a first for me, regarding the subtitles display, and it just so happens to be true for all five discs.
Since this is extremely rare, I understand and agree that this need not be a high priority fix. :p But thank you for following up with your discovery too. Much appreciated.
Damn vampire movies anyway..

Damn vampire movies anyway.. Well, obviously something is wrong and I need to fix it. I'll find it eventually.

Seem to be having a lot of problems over the last couple of days with encoding. I have tried multiple blu rays and basically the same problem on all of them.
The only success i have had is with wolverine with x264 lavf decoding ticked, then tried x264 lavf unticked with the same film and it failed.
I have uninstalled reinstalled but no joy. I wonder if you could take a look at the documentation for it please
The first encode is with lavf unticked and the second ticked wich finished.

Is your system overclocked? If so, that's probably the issue.
It may be possible that the upgraded versions recently added to the first post may be the cause. You might try reverting to the previously recommended HAALI (http://www.jdobbs.net/Freeware/MatroskaSplitter.exe) and see if that has an effect. If it does, please post and let me know.
If that doesn't do it, then try switching to the older FFDSHOW version (http://www.jdobbs.net/Freeware/ffdshow_rev3326_20100319_clsid.exe).

No my system is not over clocked JD, i have also tried the other versions of HAALI and FFDSHOW but the same outcome.
I will try your link for recommened HAALI and a previous FDSHOW. I will run a blu ray again that i know bombed out early and let you know soon as. It all started to go down the swanney once i had installed the new update of BD-REBUILDER and the new versions of HAALI and FFDSHOW from the first thread as you said.
Just tried again with previous versions. Failed video encode again!!!!
I think something has knackered my settings up that were previously fine. Any ideas mate, cause i dont know what else to do.
This is strange this, same encode as before with X264 LAVF enabled and the encode has not failed yet.

Millzy did you physically removed the Haali folder after uninstalling it. Last time something similar happened to me was because the installer didnt clean up all the way and left some other stuff around that wasnt overwritten when the new or old version was installed again

Yes mate,i even checked the registry to make sure nothing was left. Very strange that the encode is still going once i enabled the X264 LAVF.
Its at 32 pecent now and still going. If i dont enable LAVF it fails

This is strange this, same encode as before with X264 LAVF enabled and the encode has not failed yet. That's because LAVF bypasses FFDSHOW, HAALI, and AVISYNTH. Which, of course, suggests that one of those three is likely the problem.

Replaced avisynth with an earlier version and it is still running at the moment with BD-REBUILDER at default settings.
looks like the newest version of avisynth didnt want to play nice with my system.
fingers crossed that was the problem. Will report back at a later date. :thanks:

I have been using Avisynth 2.58 for over a year and have never experienced any such problems. As jdobbs has said repeatedly, other software that gets installed can, without your knowledge, change the default decoder programs that work with BD-RB. So by just reinstalling Avisynth probably restored it to your previous state, and this would have been true for either 2.57 or 2.58. ;)

J Dobbs, do you have any idea why this missed target size so badly and oversized several of the streams?

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1509404#post1509404 No, sorry but I don't. All I can say is that I have done a couple thousand discs in testing -- and oversizing to any meaningful extent is pretty much non-existent on my test machines. Something has to be out-of-kilter on your system, probably CODEC related.

Well I can't say I've done that many, maybe about 150 but the good news is that this is the only problematic one. As far as CODEC compatibility, the only codecs used are the ones contained in ffdshow. Is there any way to further test for conflicts?
What I was trying to tell you earlier is that when the main movie was cut from the streams, leaving everything else, there were no resizing issues. Likewise when the movie alone was recoded, there were no issues as well.

I can tell you that the error message means that on that single M2TS it is impossible to hit the goal, because the selected audio and PGSs combined are already bigger than the target size.

This is not the first time where dvdfab has failed. There were two or three separate instace where fab output was not good one and caused these kind of problem to happen as well and anydvd worked just fine. Which remind me Jdobbs also use AnyDVD to do his rips.

Yes, I figured that, after 4 M2ts were oversized, there was no room left for the main title.

Yes, I figured that, after 4 M2ts were oversized, there was no room left for the main title. You need to listen to what I said, not what want me to have said.
That error messge has nothing to do with the other 4 M2TS files. It won't fit because the audio/PGSs of that MT2S are larger than the output target for that M2TS. You probably decided to keep HD audio -- and HD audio just uses too much space (especially for the nonexistent benefit it provides).

Anyone know what would cause a subtitle not to be converted?
Most of the time I do not pay attention, so I can't check past log files, but will in the future. With foreign films, I like to keep the original language audio and read the subtitles, can't stand voice-overs most of the time.
This happened with The Man from Nowhere, Region A.
Here is the log, tried it twice.
Thanks for any help!

Sometimes it might happen when it is not actually a subtitle, but instead is a pop-up graphic image. But that is very rare and the image would have to be huge.
That error occurs when BD-RB's internal subroutine (that converts subtitles from BD to DVD) fails.
I'll see if I can pick up that film and give it a try.

Shouldn't keep HD audio when compressing to a 25 gb Blu-ray????HD audio is a gimmick, and is indistinguishable from AC3 @640Kbs in double-blind tests. It's a digital-age equivalent to snake oil in my not-so-humble opinion. So what's the point?
Sure you can keep HD on some sources (although there is no reason to do so) -- but on others it is just way too large, especially when you are keeping multiple audio tracks. Suppose you have 5 tracks of DTS HD that each uses 5GB of space for audio. How much space do you calculate is left over for the video on a 25GB BD disc?
