What works ?? are you refering to LPCM or DTS-HD/TrueHD

Feel free to ignore the following, not BD related, just an answer to this question...

DTS\TrueHD both work. If you replace tsmuxer with new version that works with TrueHD. If you go back 10 pages or so you will see that I was looking for a solution that you list and in the end did what your suggesting although I didn't discuss it because jdobbs was getting pretty cheesed off with it all. At the time I was being abit narrow minded and couldn't see his problem as I didn't think there was much potential for it introducing bugs, I still don't. But it's not my forum and I'm not a coder so respect to the author and it being a beta means that I kept it to myself.

I shouldn't really be mentioning it at all. It's obviously going to be implemented at some point. I certainly won't be asking questions on it again.

The weird thing is that I noticed that clpi\playlist files DO get updated properly. Well BDedit reports the audio correctly, and eac3to with various frontends pick up the audio correctly too.

I haven't even tried it with LPCM to be honest because BDRB encodes all LPCM to AC3 so prolly never a good time to switch it since audio coding is done at end of 2nd pass.

I know it might be frowned on but I needed to do something with my ripped discs and I coudn't justify wasting a BD disc on anything but a full movie encode with HD audio.

I do not recommend anyone does this.

I too have found a problem. After having tried a few editions (everything went fine from the first try), I upgraded to v0.20.03.
This time I tried Spider Man 3, 2 disc edition. I tried target size BD9. As it's orig. size is something like 46GB, I had to dump all audio except the LPCM track. I set resizing to 720P, but I'm afraid I have to say that the quality was really bad. The picture looked very low-res. On the second run I let it stay at 1080pm the other settings ware the same ... and now the picture looked much much better. How is this possible?
Before burning the iso that I created with ImgBurn, I decided to test it with PowerDVD. And that's where I found a strange bug that I haven't found before (although I'm still testing with other films).
Spider Man 3 has got quite a few subs, but the BD9 didn't show all of them correctly. The first two were correct. From the subs 3 to 9 (if I'm correct) the sequence was altered like the third one was put back in line: The third one I could select being Dutch, I selected it for playback and saw Arabic. When selecting Arabic, I saw Hebrew .. (instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, it became 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,9,3) while I did select the correct one in the menu. The subtitles 10-15 were correct.

Since I never saw this before, I tried switching back to v0.18.07, but it said 'trial expired' all of a sudden. So I cannot try this movie with an older version anymore.

Version 19.06 still works... at least for the time being, but that wouldn't be useful from a beta tester standpoint.

@jdobbs,
I may have missed this if it was mentioned before, so sorry in advance, but how long does each version work/last before expiration?

I just encoded Changeling all seemed to go fine except the video stops about 1:49 min into it. The audio still runs all the way to the end correctly while the video is froze at 1:49

I did Changeling to a movie-only BD-9 and it played fine. Forget which BD-RB version it was with, gotta look it up in the log, but just wanted to give you feedback that it was fine to a BD-9. What were your settings?

for all I know this was a W7 error. Many of my problem are in my setup or just lack of understanding some of the little stuff. Many are just glitches and I have half a mind to go back to XP and see how it does

That's happened on two or three movies... Pride & Glory, Saw V, and another one, I think. I tried running them again and everything was back to normal. There were no errors in the log, so I don't know what happened. I place them under my normal category for flaws..... Gremlins.

Hmmmm. I did Pursuit Of Happyness and that worked out just fine. But the retry of Spider Man 3 gave the same results (although the new sequence is 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,3 .. from 9-14 was correct).
Any thoughts how this is possible?

You might have to sit in naughty corner when jdobbs reads this post ;) This would work most likely as DTS\DSTHD\DTSMA share same tag....TrueHD\AC3 share same tag. LPCM does not share same tag as AC3 which it would be encoded to so that wouldn't work at this time.

I'm posting this just so nobody wastes their time trying it with LPCM and please don't report any problems doing this here.

Your on your own

Just did a thorough check of this method to inject HD audio and it does NOT work. DTS will appear to be playing, but if you check it will only be normal DTS and not MA. TrueHD won't work at all.

Don't try it.

Vista 64 is good with 4GB+ of ram with a few tweaks applied.

W7 is still in beta. I really don't know why anyone is bothering with it.

Confirmed here too does not work on my standalone only plays DTS core and the clpi file is wrong although I fixed this (maybe) with clpi editor the mpls also states the audio as DTS tried to fix this with BD edit but the disc would then hang loading the movie best to keep using BD-RB as is this will allow for bugs etc to be fixed quicker.

well I have one copy of vista 32 that I use on my play back system. W7 was the chance to use a 64bit OS for free. So far it works pretty good some of the screens are cool.

I guess I could buy a copy of vista 64, but others have said XP 32 will run these programs just as good. Before I buy another copy of windows I'm going to try XP on this computer

Got same problem as Sharc, using version v.0.20.03

I get an error while RB Rebuilder is trying to "Integrating new files into BD structure."

An error popup window shows:
---------------------------
BD Rebuilder experienced an error 4 [00:24:10] DoEncoding() 00076 4

The logfile looks as follows:

Also unable to close BD Rebuilder after this error.. program doesn't respond to the righttop cross nor the abort button. have to terminate it manually via windows taskmanager

Yep it was a Gremlin. I did it again and it works fine. Thanks for the "heads up" I might not have tried it again.

I have had a couple that had a "failure to encode audio" error and I did try them again and it failed the 2nd time too. I'm waiting for a new version and I'll try them again, might work. So far I have 82 sucessful encodes. I say I'm doing pretty good:D

That's the way I do things. I will always try a second time. The first failure is always treated as a Gremlin. If it fails again, I set it aside until the next beta comes out. Eventually, I'll get them all done. :)

I think it was this film Changeling that twice I tried processing off the fresh rip and both times I had failure to encode audio errors. So then I did the encoding off the tsmuxer-ed file and it worked, took 2 times but it worked

From my experience, LG players, be it Blu-ray, DVD, or HD-DVD, play everything you throw at them. My LG player is not only capable of playing backup DVD's, it could also play damaged, scrached, or improperly recorded DVD's. Discs that failed to copy half-way due to recorder failure also played fine up to a certain point on the LG player! The same goes for the my Philips and Samsung DVD player.

Although I have no experience with the LG BD370 players, I would not be surprised if the LG BD370 could play different variations of BD backup, be it movie-only or full backup.

so i try this program again, for maybe the 10th time, and again a non working rip.

This time it was Pineapple Express, and i put the disc in the PS3 and it just sits there, does nothing. Can't goto menu or anything.......it's rather frustrating wasting all that time on this project for it not to work. What must i do to have them work in my PS3? I've had some that have played, with no audio, but never had one that worked properly thus far...

Backing up to BD25 or BD9\BD5?

PS3 only plays BD25 with no problems at all.

Watch with what... with no problems?

What do you see on the PS3 menu for representing the disc? Data Disc, BD ROM, AVCHD?

I've got 70-80 full movie backups to BD25 that play perfectly on the PS3. Not a single copy to BD25 has failed to play.

What settings are you using in BD Rebuilder? Are you doing any pre-processing or post-processing with another program?

Its impossible to make blanket statements about DVD players compatibility with BD-Rebuilder output based upon brand name alone. his is particularly true when talking making copies to BD9 & BD5 media.

It seems to me that you have a misconception about the term "blanket statement".

When I made a comment about LG BD370, I spoke with reservation, stating clearly that "I wouldn't be surprised if..."

I actually see the menu in the PS3 as if it were a bluray disc. I see the same menu as if the BD was inserted.

In BD-RB the settings are all default, all i change is the output size and press backup. No pre/post processing with anything. Just create the image in IMGBURN and go. Normally i can play the resulting image in PDVD and fool around with it. Pineapple Express didn't even work. I see people reporting issues about AnyDVDHD being open, so i'm going to try again with that app closed, and running from an iso with no protection. I'll see what happens..

I just make my first attempt with this wonderful software. Quantum of Solace full movie into BD5. When I drop the index.bdmv into AVCHD Patcher ver 1.05 and 1.06 both comes up with error "This file is not correct format". Only after some more reading I know full movie in BD5 is not suppose to work in PS3 so I gave up looking for solution. But the disc plays fine in HTPC with TMT. No luck with PDVD and WinDVD.

Only problem I found is that since I have resize 1080p to 720P and subtitles must be untouched so they becomes really BIG. Hope there is a fix to this.

I will try Movie Only next time. Is that with "Stricter AVCHD compliance" checked there is no need to run AVCHD Patcher anymore?

If a Movie Only is acceptable for your needs, then check the block for "Stricter compliance..." and it should register as an AVCHD on the PS3 and play.

At least for the time being, the PS3 (US Version) only works for full movies if you put them on BD25 discs. Its not a bug in BD-Rebuilder, its the PS3.

anyone can explain to me why is this happened? Can you play 000292.m2ts directly? If not, you have encountered a decoding problem with that particular video and your PC decoder filters, whereby it's feeding junk to x264 and causing it to crash.

The issue with Hellboy 2 is that some of the extras are in a format that x264 can't handle. There are loads of posts in this thread about it. I got around it by encoding to bd25 and using an minimum encode size which meant the problem extras were copied intact.

I have just tried to do Batman Begins Region B, and found the error with the audio encoding. Interestingly the track it has problems with is not the main audio but a 2 channel one designated AC3+. I therefore did the disc to bd9 and only selected the first audio (multichannel AC3), ignoring the True HD one and the AC3+. Disc completed okay but I have the recurring issue on Sony standalones where the audio isn't selectable.

This thing with the audio not being selectable seems to nearly always be when there is a PIP track on the original disc. I think Batman Begins has one too...

There is a rumour that it only affects "Universal" titles, but I call BS on that. I think it's more down to the fact that Universal released nearly all it's new HD DVDs with PIP tracks and then ported them to Bluray. So it's not universal, it's just that there are PIP tracks on all these discs Vs relatively few for studios that were 100% Bluray from the start since the 1st Bluray players didn't even support a PIP track...

Just my assumption....

Creating a known issues thread would be ideal BUT given the nature of a beta program it would be impossible to maintain as the features change with every new version and what was a bug/feature in one version may/will be corrected in the next.

If I may be so bold as to suggest that those who post questions and/or bug reports follow a set procedure of

Provide proper documentation of their BD-RB configuration in their reports (BD-RB version number, copy of the .INF and .INI files)
Try to give a precise description of the issue, preferably with a copy of the .LOG file

When assistance/suggestions is been received from other users of BD-RB or a new version released by jdobbs is shown to correct the issue, the Original Poster then goes back to his original post and edits the post, adding the necessary information describing how the issue was resolved.

When others - both experienced users and newbies - do a search, they would find the original question/report and the resolution.

Until and unless the forum software is fully threaded by post (like what you find in blogs) I seriously doubt that the moderators or any other person would be able to keep track of every single post and maintain or make it into an FAQ sticky easily.

This is my 2 cents and It is way off topic here. I return you know to your favorite program... BD-ReBuilder. :p

Maybe a :helpful:... Maybe not...

You're probably right. In the beginning jdobbs just started us off with considering all issues as bugs. He has probably achieved enough maturity that term "bug" can be more specific.

A known issues thread, locked by the mod, along with a new "Bugs Only" thread is probably a very good idea. I agree that this thread is too long and diverse to be of much use to him.

I think if jdobbs put in the first post of this thread this thread would be easier to read:
- current decoding workarounds which a lot of the posts in this thread are and aren't even BD-RB bugs
- list of known bugs that he can work on and update the list so hopefully no one else reports
- hidden ini settings and what they do

To begin with this thread was a discussion piece and it's still kind of that way. I'm guilty of this as well, it was the only BD-RB thread to at first. I've also reported a few bugs here as well and I've also tried helping others out with their bugs and workarounds. Reading through the same discussion over and over again could become annoying but luckily there is 'view last unread' as long as you don't get too far behind.
