Is your chain Cyberlink Demux + Cyberlink VC1 + arcsoft audio decoder hd working for you with my sample ? :thanks:

Have a look at my previous post.

BTW, eac3to never recognizes your file: (which means your remux is faulty)

C:\>eac3to\eac3to.exe "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\VC1.m2ts" "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\VC1_out.vc1"
The format of the source file could not be detected.

Edit: i've changed your file name to VC1.m2ts...

So isn't working for you too !! (Cyberlink Demux + Cyberlink VC1 + any audio decoder )

Other chains are working for me too but like I've said before I need Cyberlink VC1 so I can use DXVA ! and i can't find any demux to which I can connect it except Cyberlink's

Does Arcsoft Video decoder VC-1 support DXVA ? (for Intel )

First of all you are still missing the reality of your file is faulty.
Not sure for intel but i think you should try at least...

It seems as if the H.264 decoder (DXVA only) has problems with old x264 encodes when the mvs were -512,512 instead of -512,511.75.
Believe it caused the 2nd problem I mentioned here (http://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1173014&postcount=3905).

Since i have made heavy modifications in subtitle engine, please let me know if :
- you see broken things in SRT or MKV subtitles for example.
- some BRD subs are not displayed properly

SSA/ASS subs are fine it seems. Also, now that you're working on subs, it's possible to "fix" the way MPC handles the subs compared to VSFilter, specially the blurred part, so we can get that kind of subs with DXVA?

I'm using this and it has a cosmetic problem

Keys are shifted up by one line compared to commands from "Toggle Subresync Bar".

I haven't noticed any problem with SSA/ASS sub.

BTW, I have seen this posted here a bunch of times, I wonder if the stutter when using MPC(-HC) internal sub filter with 0 buffer can be fixed?

I did, but it isn't working. Maybe because I'm using Vista64 and MPC-HC 32? MPC is not listed in autoplay options, and PowerDVD is still used when a DVD is inserted. The option remains checked in MPC.
The Autoplay setting in MPC will only add MPC as a choice for playing DVDs in the Autoplay dialog that pops up when you insert a DVD disc. If you have configured a default choice (PowerDVD), then that will remain active. Right-click on your dvd-drive to change the Autoplay settings.

mercury, i've been busy with your file which is a real "case study"

Please tell me how did you make this; i really wonder what technics you used :)

The problem, IMO, related with audio inside the container; neither elecard mpeg demux nor eac3to recognizes the audio.

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1717/mercurysx9.th.png (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercurysx9.png)

Only TSMuxer and Arcsoft recognizes...

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/5435/mercury02uk1.th.png (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercury02uk1.png)

When you open the file with Cyberlink, it doesn't know what type of audio it's trying to open and this case it blocks the video rendering as well while it can open the video when you unlink the audio pin:

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/4589/mercury03cu9.th.png (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercury03cu9.png)

Or it opens just vc1 itself (demuxed by TSMuxer)

http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/713/mercury04wd9.th.png (http://img156.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercury04wd9.png)

I give it a go with a file i made as ts or m2ts using just demuxed VC1 video and guess what happened? (used your source file)

Cyberlink always supposes there must be an audio inside the container even there isn't any. :)

It's trying to open audio and blocks video. (this is the -just-video file which i put into container)

http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/1965/mercury01ie8.th.png (http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercury01ie8.png)

Cyberlink filters can do the trick (for VC-1 & AVC) but they do it for all the other cards !!! so what's your point ? MPC's DXVA shouldn't be enable for all cards because cyberlink filters can do DXVA ?

As for microsoft's VC-1 & Mpeg2 they don't use DXVA ( all the the time ) although theoretically they should, or if they use dxva then they do a very bad job.

Needing cyberlink of course is not the optimal solution, but at least there's a trick of using DXVA if absolutely necessary.

MS Mpeg2 filter use DXVA on my PC (mode_a in VMR, mode_IDCT for EVR). I'm not sure if there are exposed DXVA modes on Intel hardware that povide mode acceleration that MS MPEG2 filter doesn't support (hint: use DXVA checker to see the capabilities of the filters and hw, by dragging the mpeg2 file into it).

Maybe it's unrelated to DXVA, but the difference lies in the container parser filter or a difference between hw/sw deinterlace?

Also, according to DXVA checker, MS WMV9 and VC-1 decoder support all the non-bitstream DXVA modes. Appearanty use of those were disabled by default, because you needed that powertoy to enable use?

This is a "Split" / "Cut" from a BD (folder) using TSSplitter (http://www.ffprojects.net/tssplitter/)

Using my updated VC-1 Sample eac3to recognizes the file !

Like I've said before Yes I needed "that powertoy to enable use of DXVA" but still MS's filters DXVA performance it's inferior of Elecard's MPEG2 and Cyderlink's VC-1 and since it's tested with the same file and with the same Player (MPC) I don't see how can "the difference lies in the container parser filter or a difference between hw/sw deinterlace? "

On your system (what's your Graphics ?) it's no difference when you test my samples with Ms's filters agains Elecard's and Cyberlink ?

Sorry what do you mean by this? Do you have some screenshots with those differences?

Sure, here you have a pair. Sighly different frames, but same subtitle. MPC does this with all subs. VSFilter on the left, MPC on the right.

http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/2424/vspo5.th.png (http://img119.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vspo5.png) http://img119.imageshack.us/img119/8153/mpcwx1.th.png (http://img119.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mpcwx1.png)

It's like MPC subs have some sort of anti-aliasing applied. AA is disabled in CCC of course. VSFilter's subs look much more sharp and vivid, but DXVA can't be used then.

The other problem with subs and MPC are the little jumps that happens with buffering disabled. Enabled on the left, disabled on the right:

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/8406/withbt3.th.png (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=withbt3.png) http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/561/withoutgs5.th.png (http://img177.imageshack.us/my.php?image=withoutgs5.png)

The longer the line is, the bigger the jump is. If you enable buffering problem solved, but then animated SSA/ASS subs won't work. This is specially noticeable in animated karaokes.

I know. What I'm saying is that MPC does not appear as an option in Autoplay configuration like PDVD and WMP do, even when the option is selected, applied and MPC restarted.

Explorer is 64-bit, so it will read from 64-bit view of the Registry. Try with a 64-bit build of MPC.

Hi,

First public release with fully functionnal subtitles support for M2TS is available here :
http://www.zshare.net/download/175456839b0ae289/

Since i have made heavy modifications in subtitle engine, please let me know if :
- you see broken things in SRT or MKV subtitles for example.
- some BRD subs are not displayed properly

All seems to work fine (tested only with BD files) except forced subtitles for me. They are parsed correctly but not displayed at all...

If you want a sample, get a sub file here (http://www.megaupload.com/fr/?d=4P4XUYFF) and remux it with any video streams with tsMuxer.

First sub should appear at 1''801 :

1
00:00:01,801 --> 00:00:09,708
"Dissolve." That's the word Hideo Kojima chose
for the visual concept behind the game's promotional campaign.

2
00:00:09,809 --> 00:00:09,875
I picked "dissolve" because it signifies
the end of the series under my direction,

3
00:00:09,876 --> 00:00:17,216

4
00:00:17,317 --> 00:00:24,023
as well as the end of the Solid Snake saga.

5
00:00:24,391 --> 00:00:27,926
When a flower dies, it scatters its seeds.

6
00:00:28,028 --> 00:00:31,563
Snake's DNA, his seeds of life,

thanks for your hard work on this...:)

In that case it is probably due to the fact that you are using a 64-bit OS. Explorer is 64-bit, so it will read from 64-bit view of the Registry. Try with a 64-bit build of MPC.

x64 builds work. But PDVD is a normal 32 bit application, and it has its entry in the autoplay options using Explorer 64, so I assume PDVD is doing something MPC don't ATM. Until Haali Splitter's 64 bit version is out there is no point in using the x64 builds over the x86 ones, so would it be possible to do the same PDVD does to allow autoplay using x86 MPC builds in a x64 OS?

Could you upload the sub from first screenshots.

Only ASS subs here: http://www.zshare.net/download/175707742e3b7134/

Complete sample here (19.1MB): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6UPNXHBO

Forgot to say that I can't detect the jumps when buffering is off in this particular sample when playing the video, but in other ones that have line changes in continous movement scenes is pretty noticeable.

@mercury_22,

I think you gave me a hard homework today :)

The conclusions:

1)Cyberlink demux can never open a container which includes just VC1 video- didn't test with h264- since it supposes container must always carry an audio file at least.

2)Cyberlink demux can't recognize DTS-HD or DTS files; so remuxed video and audio into a container never be opened by cyberlink demux.

3)Cyberlink demux can open containers including video and ac3audio.

4)Cyberlink can open standalone VC1 files.

Trials:

I had two files in my hand: one was from mercury; including dts-hd and never worked with Cyberlink demux. The other one was mine; including ac3 and always
worked.

So as to verify the source of the issue is dts, i made those tests:

I extracted video VC1 and audio dts (both dts-hd and dts-core) from mercury's file via eac3to.
Remuxed with TSMuxer into m2ts/TS containers and they newer worked with cyberlink demux; no video..while my file was working:

http://rapidshare.com/files/139774435/cut.ts_new.m2ts.html

http://img396.imageshack.us/img396/2915/ricapj8.th.png (http://img396.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ricapj8.png)

I decided to convert dts to ac3 and re-encoded with eac3to:

ac3to v2.57
command line: eac3to\eac3to.exe "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\test.m2ts" 2: "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\test_out.ac3"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M2TS, 1 video track, 1 audio track, 1 subtitle track, 0:00:21
1: VC-1, 1080i60 /1.001 (16:9)
2: DTS Hi-Res, 5.1 channels, 16 bits, 2082kbit/s, 48khz
3: Subtitle (PGS)
[a02] Extracting audio track number 2...
[a02] Decoding with ArcSoft DTS Decoder...
[a02] Patching bitdepth to 24 bits...
[a02] Encoding AC3 (with libAften)...
[a02] Creating file "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\test_out.ac3"...
Video track 1 contains 616 frames.
eac3to processing took 3 seconds.
Done.

And remuxed vc1 and ac3 back into an m2ts container: (It started working !)

http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/5614/mercurylatestkk4.th.png (http://img133.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercurylatestkk4.png)

http://rapidshare.com/files/139788654/test_new.rar.html

(mercury's revised file)

Second trial: I converted ac3 of my file to dts with eac3to:

command line: eac3to\eac3to.exe "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\Try\cut.ts_new.m2ts" 2: "C:\Users\rica\Desktop\Try\cut_out.dts"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
M2TS, 1 video track, 1 audio track, 0:00:30

and remux vc1 and dts into an m2ts container; as i guess it didn't work with cyberlink.

This time i tried to open demuxed files by Graphstudio; it was working: (demuxed vc1 and dts from mercury's file)

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9536/mercurylastwk5.th.png (http://img170.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercurylastwk5.png)

So i thougt i could open those demuxed stanalone files with MPC_HC:

http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/5674/mercurylatest03um0.th.png (http://img388.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercurylatest03um0.png)

also it was working with standalone dts and vc1 of my revised file :

http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/7317/mercurylatest02tt2.th.png (http://img83.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mercurylatest02tt2.png)

Method:

Register standalone MPC filters:
MPC DTS/ac3 source and MPC mpa decoder..

Uninstall haali,

Make Cyberlink Demux's merit 008000FF with Radlight Filter Manager.

Untick "MPEG/PS/TS/PVA" and "DTS/ac3" under "Source Filters" and "VC1 dxva", "VC1 ffdmpeg" under "Transform Filers" of intenal filters option,

Put your demuxed VC1 and DTS (DTS-HD) into the same folder and rename the files with the same first-name. (like cut.vc1, cut.dts)

Open VC1 with MPC-HC. (while opening the file select "all files" option.=

@ rica
Sorry I didn't meant to give you "a hard homework today" :) :thanks: But Cyberlink demux can recognize DTS files ! Also why do you need MPC's standalone filters I can do all that without them ! Also no need to set Cyberlink's VC1 merit to "prefer" because Cyberlink demux it will always connect to it and not to MS's VC-1 ! So basically what you're saying it's that I need to remux the audio stream to AC3 or whatever else than DTS-HD if I want to use Cyberlink's VC-1 !

Really???

How then?

(folks can give it a go with the files uploaded :) )

Your choices mercury:

Remux to a container with a re-encoded ac3,
Or
leave dts and vc1 as demuxed...

EDIT:

Also no need to set Cyberlink's VC1 merit to "prefer" because Cyberlink demux it will always connect to it and not to MS's VC-1.

You are right, i edited the previous post's "method" section...

Only one small update : Cyberlink demux can recognize DTS (NOT DTS HD) but apparently only when open a DVD / BD folder or Disc or even from CD if I try to open the VOB , m2ts or wav file it doesn't work ! Very strange !:confused:

P.S. Why do you need to "Untick DTS/ac3" filters in MPC ? why not using MPC's internal filters (and using standalone MPC filters) it's working for me Also why do you still "Put your demuxed VC1 and DTS (DTS-HD) into the same folder and rename the files with the same first-name" you can play it now ? because i still can't play the DTS & DTS-HD only the remuxed AC3

Just to clarify after demux you can play the VC-1 + DTS or DTS-hd if you "Put your demuxed VC1 and DTS (DTS-HD) into the same folder and rename the files with the same first-name" ?
OR in fact you're playing the VC-1 + the remuxed AC3 ? :thanks:

But I'm using NOT protected files and HDMI (& HDCP chain)and it's happening just with DTS (HD)

P.S. Arcsoft (players) never worked for me (Vista 64) are you saying that the filters are working and have DXVA ? Because I don't need another coedcs on my comp I'm trying to keep it simple

Do you think this f**** protection is just coming with a poor cable?

I try to compile MPC-HC SVN on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System SP1, but i keep getting errors about streams.h missing.

I need to install this to compile? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=519aae99-b701-4ca1-8495-39ddde9d7030&DisplayLang=en

In that case it is probably due to the fact that you are using a 64-bit OS. Explorer is 64-bit, so it will read from 64-bit view of the Registry. Try with a 64-bit build of MPC.

OK I have some interesting behaviour. x86 MPC will not work, and x64 will, putting itself in the autoplay list. Now with MPC selected in the list, completely remove the x64 version. The option stays there. And surprise, when a DVD is inserted MPC x86 pops up and starts playing. I don't know if there are two different sections in the registry for both x86 and x64, but it's obvious than x86 apps can write in the supposed x64 part of it (PDVD). So the question is, can this be changed in MPC to allow autoplay without doing this trick?

Hello,

I have a Toshiba notebook containing a mobile Radeon HD2600 gpu with 256MB dedicated RAM, running Vista32 SP1. I have installed the older Catalyst 8.4, and the latest Catalyst 8.8 drivers, both give me the same experience:

whenever I try to playback a video using DXVA, my graphics driver crashes and Windows reports that the graphics driver has been restarted after a failure. Of course, I do not get any videoplayback. When I disable DXVA, everything works fine, but CPU load increases dramatically of course.

I have tried two different codecs, the latest Power DVD H264 codec, and the MPC Video Decoder (the one implemented in media player classic homecinema edition), both codecs support DXVA, and I use them successfully in many systems, including one with a 780G Chipset (HD3200IGP), as well as with a Radeon HD4850. However, h264 video acceleration does not work with my mobile HD2600. Why? Can anybody please check if they have the same problem?

Thanks alot!

For me it's just like : demux / extract VC-1 and DTSHD in the same folder (same name except the extension) change the merit for Cyberlink's Demux to preferred (no haali here) and doubleclick the .vc1 output file (MPC it's the default player for VC1 extension) :p:thanks::stupid:

OK I have some interesting behaviour. x86 MPC will not work, and x64 will, putting itself in the autoplay list. Now with MPC selected in the list, completely remove the x64 version. The option stays there. And surprise, when a DVD is inserted MPC x86 pops up and starts playing. I don't know if there are two different sections in the registry for both x86 and x64, but it's obvious than x86 apps can write in the supposed x64 part of it (PDVD). So the question is, can this be changed in MPC to allow autoplay without doing this trick?
Letting 32-bit apps write to the 64-bit Registry hive is a very bad practice. So I won't do that. Also because I have better things to do.

You must use ony that drivers whch Toshiba gave You. Propably You use soft form http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php to have new drivers. If you use other the system will crash. Thanks ATI for not giving newer drivers.
I had the same problem with my Radeon HD2300 mobility

Thanks for your hint, my problem is: I have tried both ways, and none of them works. I have used the latest Catalyst 8.8 drivers, and modified them, leading to the described problems. Then I have uninstalled them, and loaded the latest Toshiba drivers (8.452), and they behave exactly the same way.

Which driver did you use to fix that problem?

It's SO bad not to add a simple entry?

Strange problem. With

Internal Mpeg2 decoder + VMR9 (Renderless) + LockBack Buffer + VMR9 Mixer Mode = Black Screen + Audio

Internal Mpeg2 decoder + VMR9 (Renderless) + LockBack Buffer = Works fine

Subtitle Delay is a nice function but it seems there is a mistake in the shortkeys.

Display Stats should be Subtitle Delay -
Subtitle Delay - should be Subtitle Delay +
Subtitle Delay + should be Display Stats

Display Stats function seems to be a shortcut to Save Thumbnails.

Strange no ? ^^

I tried Blu-ray disc (japanese anime : utawarerumono in BD disc with english .PGS subtitle). but some subtitles are displayed and many are not displayed. It doesnt' still work very well.

and one question: Do you plan to add inverse telecine support to deinterlace with dxva on because when i use dvxa i can't use ffdshow+avisynth+telecide filter (inverse telecine) and for this moment MPc HC doesn't support inverse telecine

If you have an Nvidia card and the latest drivers, 175.xx or 177.xx, you can check the Inverse Telecine box in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Much better solution than fumbling around with the options in whatever you use.
