However on many occasions that happens with partially downloaded files (and WMV contrainer is not the only one affected).
It isn't a partially downloaded file. I have this issue with all 12 videoclips from Ghost in the Shell.

Your sample file exhibits the same problems in GraphStudio. So it is not the fault of MPC. Seeking does not even work with WMP. Conclusion, the files are broken, missing the required metadata. VLC should support seeking, but that will also result in visible video corruption.

Do you have this problem with Beliyaal's build?

i give you an example which contains sample of dvd with separated subtitle.
http://www.zshare.net/info.html?56020870-d4d04aa2176e63620e5482be7d253046

subtitles are not synchronized with video but it's not a problem to see the problem with load subtitle and open dvd functions.

I have the same problem with the last version of mpc-HC 1005

m2ts:

make an ISO fie using Clown BD and latest tsmuxer 1.8.19.:
ftp://213.221.6.90/tsMuxer/

Install ReCock 1.3.8.9 with WASAPI support first:

http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=19931

We gonna setup MPC-HC:

Uninstall Haali first.

output:
DirectShow audio: Recolock Audio Renderer.

internal filters > source filters:
flac, matroska and mpeg ps/ts/pva must be unticked.

internal filters > transform filters:
flac and vc1 must be unticked.

external filters:
Arcsoft mpeg demux and Arcsoft audio decoder has to be selected and set to preferred.

What is boring is everytime you have to set audio to 5.1 in Arcsoft Audio Decoder properties page.

flac mkv:

load madflac and it's gonna work with 96/6/24 with ReClock.

For more details:

As of ver 1.8.3.9 the option has been added to set the output bit depth for PCM audio in Reclock. If you set this to 32bit-int does it work?

@rica,
You should not use bit perfect when talking about reclock if you are resampling with it. Yes, I know its resampler in Excellent mode is very good, but it's not bitperfect.;)

Snowknight26,

I've uploaded the file to http://rapidshare.com/files/204347131/mplayerc_experimental_g45.rar.

This is a premium account so shouldn't expire.

Casimir666,

Hope this is OK as it was your file originally. If not I'll remove.

I am not resampling; this is why i need to use MPC-HC with Arcsoft filters instead of TMT itself. Check out the link i gave above:)

Are you checking the "slave reference clock to audio" option and setting the media speed to "original speed" in reclock?

I set the media speed to "original speed".
So you are resampling. Compare the cpu load of your working mode vs the "slave reference clock to audio" checked.
I think it would be better continuing this discussion in reclock's thread... ;)

Hi guys. When viewing videos in fullscreen, sometimes I see odd lines at the top/bottom or sides of the screen that seems to move or change color when the video is playing.

I am using the following:
MPC-HC 1.2.908.0
Vista 32bits SP1
Athlon X2 4200
Asus M2N-MX SE
Asus Radeon HD 3450

Thank you.

Thank you.1st, make sure you're using the latest ATI drivers (http://www.amd.com/). Then, try using the latest development revision (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/)
and configure it to use EVR. Do you still see the lines? If you do, post a screenshot.

I'm not sure if it was reported or maybe it's just on my computer.

Q6600, 4GB, Radeon 4850
8.573-090113a-074230C-ATI
Catalyst™ Version 09.1
Windows 2003

MPC-HC 1.2.908.0 doesn't work with DXVA anymore with this driver.

Settings used: VMR9 renderless , 3D surfaces, Bicubic 0.75 resizer (tried enabling VMR9 mixer mode and yuv mixing but doesn't change anything and weren't needed before)

What do I mean by not working anymore? The movie is opened in MPC-HC, in the status bar it says the correct movie length, it says "Playing" but actually it just stays like that, not even processing one frame. See picture attached.

I see now there's a 9.2 version of the video driver posted... I'll install it and update the message if the problem is fixed.

PS. Installed 9.2... no luck, same thing, black screen, player says "Playing" but no frame is decoded by any filter. Also tried the MPC-HC-Beliyaal build and it behaves exactly the same.

Btw. if I try to use VMR7 renderless or EVR custom, it won't try to decode using DXVA, it goes straight to ffmpeg. according to the website this is what should happen anyways.
With VMR 7 windowed or VMR9 windows or Overlay mixer, it uses DXVA but the same black screen and no frames of any kind decoded.

If there's anything I can do debugging this, please let me know.

It was already known and reported that ATI broke DXVA for the internal MPC DXVA decoder in Catalyst 9.x drivers. Some users say that DXVA works fine with Cyberlink's decoder.
Thanks anyway.

there seems to be some problem of mpc-hc with some combination of filters. when I use madflac and ac3filter at the same time (which I need to do to output 5.1 flac tracks as 2.0 as I only have 2 speakers and my soundcard doesnt do it automatically) and then switch between a flac track and an ac3 track of a mkv file (so for example the normal movie track and the audio commentary), then the ac3filter basically disappears when I switch back from ac3 to flac and I dont have those applied setting of ac3filter at playback any more and would have to restart mpc.

when the flac track is the only track in the .mkv then its all fine, then ac3filter and madflac work together fine. but if not and I switch back and forth to that track, then the ac3filter connection and channelconversion from 5.1 -> 2.0 (and all other ac3filter settings) are lost.

Hi !I tried the 9.2 Hotfix now and found:
1) no more crashes when excessively seeking in DXVA playbacks - so it's the first usable driver for the AGP cards since 8.5
2) Garbled video, frame jumping, corruption (only with vmr9 renderless - overlay and vmr7 work great) unfortunately is still there, if you size the display window larger than 1440x800 (e.g. 1920x1080 fullscreen playback)...
Have you patched the registry ? It is necessary with every driver update. I had problems when I updated to 9.2 until I ran the .vbs utility to patch the registry again. After that, all is working correctly.

I'm trying to play a blu-ray folder using MPC-HC svn 1005. It seems to play fine but in the VMR and Video Filter Properties it shows the fps to be 3333333.33 fps. I'm playing the blu-ray folder using File->Play DVD. Here are some screenshots.

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/rack04/untitled1.jpg

http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/rack04/untitled2.jpg

UPDATE: The VMR and Video Filter Properties show 23.976 fps using Haali Media Splitter. So the problem is with the internal MPEG TS splitter.

Yeah tried all of the exdeus patches... they have no impact on the problem i am describing. DXVA works with VMR7 and Overlay, just not with VMR9 Renderless. We narrowed down the problem to the VSYNC handling in the custom presenter and/or directx. I think it might be fixable. Let's see when beliyaal is back.

One thing with MPC which is rather weird: I have two monitors, typically display video in fullscreen mode on Haali Renderer.

Most of the times if the video is playing I'm able to give any window an input focus on the other display, switch between application etc, and the video is continuing to play in fullscreen mode. However sometimes that just doesn't work and for no obvious (to me, at least) reason when I click on any window on the other monitor MPC-HC restores to window mode. "On Top" mode is set to "While Playing", monitor output as DISPLAY1, the MPC can be started on any screen per se, fullscreen output is always to a specifiс display. Seems this behaviour is not affected by pausing and resuming video.

Typical usage scenario: MPC started on DISPLAY2 from TC7, drag&drop an mkv file from TC7, alt+enter for fullsceen, video is correctly displayed on DISPLAY1 in 2-3 seconds. Then I continue to use windows on D2 and everything is alright for some time then suddenly when switching applications MPCHC rolls back to window mode and thus goes to Display2 (i.e. the screen the window was started on). It is a bit annoying as then I have to switch focus to MPC window and alt+enter it again, and before I do that video goes blank as apparently DX surface is associated with the other screen.

Any workarounds for that issue or is it caused by windows interface itself?

Hi, I use Win XP sp3 and EVR custom renderer. When playing videos in dxva mode, I cant see display stats and tearing test. Those are shown only when dxva2 is used. No problem with vmr9 or nodxva mode. It works with all videos.
Is this bug or some limitation?

Yes, its true. EVR custom use 3d screen by default. But still, when using evr custom everything is ok when dxva2 is active. However, when playing video that can be accelarated only by dxva1 in my card, no statistics and shaders (forgot mention it earlier).

edit: Hmm.. what i found is in that case MPC HC automatically switch to the vmr renderer.

With latest version of both MPC-HC and Beliyaal version, after I play any video (mkv h264) with Direct3D Fulscreen activated, and I try to play another one, the player freeze with a black screen.
Video play on a secondary monitor (TV), with interface on primary monitor.
Win XP SP3, ATI 2400 PCI-e, latest driver (9.2), doesn't matter if play through DXVA or software, VMR9 Renderless, VMR9 Mixer Mode active, Lock Back-Buffer active.
If I kill the player and start again it works until I change the video again.
Also if Direct3D Fulscreen deactivated, if I start video on primary monitor and switch to fullscreen on secondary (F11) the video freeze.
If I move the interface on secondary monitor and start video and the fullscreen everything is OK.
It seems that it has something to do with ATI Drivers - just installed 9.2 AGP Hotfix, and the disabled Vector Adaptive deinterlacing and everything is fine now.

Is it possible to add advanced options back to VMR9 such as the Procamp and the deinterlacing tab?

With regular MPC they are there but not with MPC-HC. Why were these tabs removed?
I think it's very important to know what kind of deinterlacing is used... :)

There is a possibility that the 2400 behaves a little different than the 2600 AGP even though i find that unlikely. The problem only occurs on high bitrate material (more with vc1 than with h264 - but some blu ray titles exhibit the problem more others only rarely) with a display resolution of 1920x1080 in full screen mode at a display frequency of an exact multiple of 23.976 (e.g. 47.952). It also is very sensitive to vertical blank timing. So there are a number of variables - but i am not alone with this prob, there are tons of users reporting the same, so i doubt its my setup.

MPC plays WMV files just fine. It does however depend on files in the operating system for playing them. So if your Windows installation is broken, or if you ripped out WMP, then you got a problem. You need to install the Windows Media Format Runtimes to 'fix' it.

Tagert

hmm okey.
I'm running windows xp x64.
I already have windows media player 11 installed.
I have installed the x64 version of MPC HC.
I've tried disabling the internal filters just incase ffdshow could support the wmv file playback, but that didn't work either.

Tried googling abit for the windows media format runtime but I only end up finding 32bit versions for it :(

Semi good news everyone.

I found the exact problem with the ATi 9.2 driver.
I have a workaround in place (at least for my system)

I'm 99% sure now that the bug is in MPC-HC and not the catalyst driver

Steps to take:
-Remove all previous ati drivers
-Reboot into safe mode and run Driver sweeper
-Reboot into regular windows and install 9.2 AGP Hotfix
-Apply DeusEx patches
-Reboot
-Apply DeusEx patches

Now the final step, and this is the the one that will fix it.
-Change your display to 1920x1080@50 or lower refresh rate.
-Lower resolutions can stay at 60hz
-Anything below 60hz will work: 50,30,25,24

6th March 2009, 17:59
What is the precise definitiion of this 9.2 bug? Is it the no DXVA problem? Is it Vista only? Because 9.2 (without hotfix, ATI3850) on XP works fine @50Hz and 60Hz here, H.264 and VC-1 - last stable release and the latest Beliyaal build.

Or maybe this is something completly different?
