It'd be nice if an option could be added to hide the tray icon.
I'd like to have such an option (even be it only a registry value without UI) too.

@volt
What's the status on rev3808 (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1536944#post1536944)? Will it be fixed anytime soon? If not, can you revert it?

@Aleksoid x64 doesn't compile any more since your last changes (svn 3820 ?) Please fix this!
Edit:
It's been a while since I've build my last x64 libmingwex.a (4.6.1) and buildmingwlibs.sh wasn't and it's still not working but now even my old trick doesn't work any more so how do you guys build your x64 libmingwex.a NOW ?! (I still have mine but I'm just curios if I'm the only one with this problem)

@fastplayer: I'll take that one. I was wondering about it too. So far, I've only seen a few posts in this tread about this feature, and no other comments. Some more user input is welcome. To quote myself:Extra adaptation for aspect ratios over 2 was added for when "Position subtitles relative to the video frame" is enabled, indeed at the cost of usage of the margins setting. (RTS.cpp, line 3208)
Changes to this feature are open for discussion, just like any other part of the subtitle renderer. I don't mind changing things. (I've seen that I need to patch a few minor inaccuracies of the formatted text parser soon, anyway.)(The other patch is in the mean time ready for integration.)

I have successfully build x86 and x64 build. Use gcc 4.6.2
And i think - need revert rev.3824, after that we have low performance in x86 build instead if have pthreads library.
If need - i can upload my libgcc.a, libmingwex.a, libpthreadGC2.a and my mingw+gcc 4.6.2

Modified Fri Nov 11 11:24:42 2011 UTC (80 minutes, 17 seconds ago) by XhmikosR
* fix x64 compilation
* use w32threads for both x86 and x64 builds
@devs: see ffmpeg/todo.txt
But if you can it will be nice if you'll upload your libgcc.a, (4.6.2) libmingwex.a (4.6.2), and mingw+gcc 4.6.2 . No need anymore for the libpthreadGC2.a after r3824 ! :) But if you'll revert it please upload libpthreadGC2.a too
Also I'll appreciate if you can share how do you build (patch) your x64 libmingwex.a (4.6.1 or 4.6.2) :thanks: (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1740#comment:5)

Hello,
I've been compiling MPC-HC with the BE mod for myself for a while and thought it could be good to share it with the nice people of doom9 community! :D
Those builds are made with the default settings. http://www.mediafire.com/?nbb4gclb828ax
Big thanks to all people working on this very nice player!

What's this 'BE mod'? I've heard of it a few times but never actually heard about what it _actually_ is or what it does.
Thanks anyway, I might try it out if it's useful.

Me personally, i look at the movie, not the player. :)

Yeah but unless you use ONLY full screen you "have to" look at the player too :) and since someone took the time and made the effort to improve the "look" of the player why not use it? :)

It's a matter of taste, but you still can use whatever toolbar / buttons you want
What I like in the BE MOD it's the possibility to change the colors and the "Seek Bar"

BE Mod looks like this
http://www.xvidvideo.ru/images/stories/my_pic/new_00004.png
you can switch to dark theme only if you enable it from
Options > Tweaks
well it would be easier if MPC-HC dev make Dark Theme into default

Sorry I don't understand what do you mean. I'm talking about merging the patch with the trunk, I'm not asking where to get latest revision :confused:
It was said on the trac that devs don't want to fix the patch so it will be possible to apply it to latest revisions, but if someone already did this he can just submit patch to the dev.

There is weird problem with subtitle font size setting. When I set "16", apply and than go back to settings there is in fact set "15". And it happens whit almost all sizes...
18 -> 17
16 -> 15
15 -> 14
but 14 -> 14
and again 13 -> 12
12 -> 11
11 -> 11
Sorry for poor explanation, I hope you understand me.

Were there any changes in the H264 decoder (FFmpeg version) between 3819 and 3824?
I encoded Cars 2 with Handbrake svn 4342 and it plays perfectly fine on 3819 but either can't play or can't seek on 3824. In either case, if it fails, it locks up MPC-HC.
This is on XP SP3 x86.

what is Alexins website address?
http://www.xvidvideo.ru/
But it seems that he's on vacation or something, and didn't update his builds for a month.

i would be extremely greatful if someone can sort this for me
i need to find a way to output AAC to my new amp over HDMI
previously i just used AC3Filter which i believe transcoded to ac3 and output over spdif. This does not work in HDMI.
I tried Reclock which worked but is causing problems of its own
problem is if i set 5.1 channel in the HDMI playback option this works for all multichannel formats but i watch a lot ov tV through MCE and all stereo formats just then output through L&R speakers and i cant use Prologic
Thanks

Everyone,
We can solve this ffmpeg issue much faster if we agree to do 2 things.
1. Stop statically linking ffmpeg, this alone might already solve the problems we're having
2. Use LAV decoders instead of MPC decoders, once we accept to keep ffmpeg externally its easy to use LAV. This will remove our reliance from porting over the ffdshow ffmpeg all the time. And LAV's ffmpeg.dll is as vanilla as possible (and has its own fork repository)
Aleksoid: Do you think you can port over our DXVA code to LAVvideo? DXVA will be needed to be feature complete compared to the current mpcvideodec.

Nice idea. Since LAV is pretty mature already and even beats some commercial decoders for some formats, its about time to switch to it.

Try in decoder setting set Thread Count = 1.
P.S. Big thanks to XhmikosR ... for this bug, after rev.3824 :)
Results! Thanks for the help!
Now my nephews can watch the latest exploits of McQueen and Mater. :)

Why you think so ???
I am against the use of external .dll

There is weird problem with subtitle font size setting. When I set "16", apply and than go back to settings there is in fact set "15". And it happens whit almost all sizes...
Just a guess into the blue ... it might be related to some rounding error between "point to pixel" size and "pixel to point" size back.
Font sizes are a confusing thing under Windows, it supports different scales, as far as I remember, trying to be independent of the resolution (dpi) the display or printer has.

I forgot to mention that that was introduced after changes in rev 3808 so maybe @JanWillem32 knows more about this.

What does PotPlayer? Why you say about PotPlayer ???
I don't want that MPC-HC user any external .dll for internal filters - splitter/decoder. That's i want to say.

If I use madVR in MPC-HC, the OSD font size is twice as large as with other renderers. Which of both would be responsible for the prevention of this issue?

So you prefer slower codecs, just to avoid the extra dll?
Doesn't sound all that logical. :)

No relationship between the external DLL and speed. The internal library may work just as quickly.
IMHO, there is a problem pthread and x64.

@volt
Can you revert rev3808? It broke basic subtitle functionality.
@devs
Why are you working on the internal splitters/decoders anymore? I thought the plan was to migrate to LAV Filters. So why not work on MPC's "infrastructure" to facilitate such migration?

Thats not true, some of the assembly doesn't work when its statically linked, which is the main reason x64 is so damn slow.
I really don't care either way, though. I don't use any internal codec, and i don't even use MPC-HC for movie watching anymore - only time i use it these days is for testing and filter development.

Newer MPC-HC versions ask madVR to draw the OSD, so if the OSD has a too big font size for your taste, you'll have to blame madVR.
