I tried catalyst 8.3, still no luck (it was 8.4 I intended, but after downloading I figured I try it).
Did not connect to a HDTV? Well I have a projector (which I haven't tried), and my monitor, which is a samsung syncmaster 245b. DVI connection with hdcp (although that shouldn't be coming into play here).

Hmm... if downgrading also does not work then there is nothing else I can think of things that will allow you to use DXVA, at least on MPC.

The last thing I suggest you to do is if you have a h.264 MP4 video, try playing it on PowerDVD and see if you can get hardware acceleration. This will check whether video drivers problems is the source of the problem or not.

I have some questions related to my configuration (Asus M3N78-EMH HDMI connected to a Panasonic PX80 using HDMI for both video and audio). I hope there's a solution:

- Will the Geforce 8200 ( http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8200mgpu.html , shown as "NVIDIA Geforce 8200 (4318)" under MPC Video decoder properties) be supported? Or should it be already supported and I can't get it to work? I tried every release/video card driver I could get but no way.

- Is 24hz playback supported under Vista x64 using EVR custom?
My goal is to use PowerDVD external filter (DXVA), but that's the situation:
EVR Custom with PowerDVD Filter, 24hz -> video stuttering, subtitles aren't sometime shown (some lines are missing), usually the audio doesn't start (I have to seek the file to get the audio back).
EVR Custom with internal filter (no DXVA support), 24hz -> audio out of sync.
These problems disappear at 60hz (with both video filters) or using WMR9@24hz.

I really hope someone can help, as I tried everything (using haali splitter and ac3filter external filter too).
The thing is that 24hz playback is fine under XP using VMR9 renderless (WMR9 under Vista doesn't support PowerDVD DXVA)!
Thanks.

Hi,

just tried the MpegSplitter with some m2ts material...

what is the connection format in case of LPCM? And which "decoder" can handle it or remove certain header? I don't really know what has to be done to prepare LPCM for the audio renderer...

I only managed to get a graph with AC3Filter in between the MpegSplitter and the audio renderer. But all I could hear was some weird noise.

Is there a MPC filter that can handle it?

Hi CiNcH,

Here is one alternative:

Would be interesting to know whether MpegSplitter connects to Nero Audio Decoder 2 and whether audio is ok then.

Would be cool if anyone got a working solution for MpegSplitter in combination with LPCM. Would be even cooler if it the solution wasn't as commercial or bloated as Nero too ;) .

Another free alternative to Elecard is Haali. It handles LPCM itself and directly outputs PCM to a connected renderer.

Slaman, for the time being i suggest Arcsoft video decoder as external filter.
Uncheck VC1 and h264 options under internal filters and select arcsoft as preferred under external filters.

That's odd... I installed ArcSoft again and it just freezes when I try to play something.

MPC HC won't recognize the External Filter either.

Maybe reboots/reinstalls may help.

LPCM output from MpegSplitter is compatible with mpc-hc LPCM decoder only. There reason for this is that M2TS have a special mapping for audio channels, so parser should give order to audio decoder (as far as i know there is no possibility to send this with standard DirectShow structure...).
I have explain to xxl how I have done to make ffdshow compatible with this, but I don't know if have time to do it.

mpc-hc LPCM decoder only

Is this one available as standalone filter? What's the name of that one?

@ rica,

but that's not the 'MPC - Mpeg Splitter'...

You're right.

EDIT:
Tried again, mpc matroska source doesn't open any m2ts. File source(async) and mpc matroska splitter do not agree on connection as well. It might be a graphedit issue. I think you use graphstudio?

Please forgive my ignorance but I am at a loss as to where in MPC-HC I can enable DXVA? After a certain version I can no longer locate the checkbox in the internal filters list under view->options->internal filters.

Kado

After a "certain version" (rev627) the dxva and ffmpeg have been splitted, you just have to check the box for the filter that has dxva in it's name.

As Casimir said, only the combination of MPC MpegSplitter and MPC MPA Decoder works in case of LPCM as the connection format is proprietary... [EDIT] ah you meant Nero splitter... dunno... my m2ts/LPCM files are ok with Casimir's filters

Seems Haali even included the LPCM decoder into the splitter... renderer can directly be connected to the splitter in case of LPCM, most likely because of the lack of a standardized interface..

No i did mean "nero audio decoder2", i used gabest's splitter.

Also Haali recognizes 5.1 audio as stereo.

Have a look at this:

Graphedit property page is not reliable for audio channel : it always say stereo even for multi-channel streams :

But it is interesting that Elecard splitter and Nero audio decoder understand each other in case of LPCM. So there may be some quasi-standard... (or how is this called in English? ;) )

Or did this graph you posted first did not play any sound, rica?

Slaman,
sorry for the late response.

Today i awared VC1 is not working with arcsoft anymore under mpc-hc after the current updates of windows Vista.
MPC-HC selects WM Video Decoder DMO even i unregister it.
(İ suppose i unregistered)
But two days ago it was working with VC1 as well.

Anyway it still keeps working with h264.

Been using MPC for quite some time already but I still don't get what are the internal Source filters.
Transform filters are the decoders, right?
What about Source filters?

clsid
11th July 2008, 17:28
Source filters are responsible for reading a file format (aka container), determine what kind of audio video and other data it contains, extract the data and forward it to the next filters in the chain, one decodable chuck (aka frame) at a time.

well, I got past most my my dxva with no video showing problem.

I'm at catalyst 8.5 and from the following site (which you may already know about)
http://exdeus.home.comcast.net/~exdeus/ati-hd2x00/
I loaded most of the tweaks, but left the dual monitor ones behind. That didn't work as it was, but while trying to fix a full screen with black bar problem I upped
VForceMaxResSize="4600000"
That gets dxva working in powerdvd for the higher bitrate stuff I wanted and in MPC-HC with moderate bitrate x264 encodes (higher bit rate one that say they are using dxva still don't show any video).
If I get nothing else working, I'll be reasonably happy, but I was hoping to get rid of poserdvd altogether.

By the way I had also tried catalyst 8.6 and had the no overlay problem, until I opened something in powerdvd. That got overlay working for MPC-HC as well (but still no working dxva for me with this). Those tweaks totally screwed up my video while using 8.6, which is why I downgraded to 8.5 again.
