Use the standalone version of the internal splitter. Then set it as preferred for MPLS. The K-Lite Codec Pack does that automatically in case you need an easy way to do it.

how do you set it as preferred only for mpls? what is the advantage of doing this over using the internal splitter?

P.S. also: I have been making some experiment with the latest haali, but I can't get the video and subitle pins from the splitter in graphedit, any reason for this?

Yeah, that is a good point! I should have stated my system specs along with my tries to help...

I am on Windows XP () with an Nvidia 9400 and Atom N330.

When using the internal splitter it will get used for all MPEG-PS/TS files. That will lead to problems with certain files, like giving wrong duration. When using external splitters, you have more control over what gets used when. For example I give the Gabest splitter a low merit, so that it only gets used for files that the Microsoft splitter can't handle.

This will set it as preferred for .mpls files:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Media Type\Extensions\.mpls]
"Source Filter"="{1365BE7A-C86A-473C-9A41-C0A6E82C9FA3}"

@ sneaker_ger & madshi - if its really decoder fault, we should simply "upgrade" Gabest splitters to use only properly ratio by forcing and overwritten it on decoder settings

Saw this log from the 197.45 drivers...

New in Version 197.45

- Recommended for the best performance with the new GPU-accelerated features in Adobe CS5.
- Adds support for the new version of MotionDSP's video enhancement software, vReveal, which adds support for HD output. NVIDIA customers can download a free version of vReveal that supports up to SD output here.
- Fixes a video playback issue in Media Player Classic.

r1788. subtitles work as always.

If for example:

- I play the file "movie.mkv" from the folder "movie" who contains also the subtitle "movie.en.srt" it plays just fine.

- I exit mpc-hc.

- in the folder "movie" I add another subtitle "movie.fr.srt", I start again mpc-hc, it sees only the original subtitle "movie.en.srt" but not "movie.fr.srt".

the only way to see both subtitles is to start to play another mkv file and then again "movie.mkv"

Yep, you right. Also if there is only one subtitles called "movie.eng.srt" or "movie.fr.srt" or "movie.[past more than 2 characters here].srt" they not loaded.

A bug that many people have. I have not tried the driver yet but many people are already reporting that the issue is not fixed correctly. I saw one person also reporting DXVA causes nvidia driver crashes with these new drivers.

edit.

I can confirm the new drivers do fix MKV's in windowed mode but AVI files still stutter in windowed mode. madVR is also not working either but thats nothing new with the newer nvidia drivers.

tetsuo, sorry for the late reply for some reason the instant notification doesn't works...

anyway, i haven't seen again that weird occurrence and i'm using MPCHC 1782 and ffd 3351

the dissapearing subtitles IS a recurring behaviour(i'm beginning to suspect that rivatuner has to do with it), i haven't loaded rivatuner and so far it seems to be maintaining.

i have so many settings that it's suicidal to reset them(large audio custom matrix behing one)

Can you pintpoint more closely which revision casues that high cpu behaviour?

the disapearing subtitles thing is strange, try resetting your settings?

True. But at least the original libav/ffmpeg VC-1 decoder programmer is mentoring the GSOC project. That should give us some hope. Even if the student should fail to complete his task, Kostya might take over the crumbs and complete the work.

d3dx9_41.dll is too old. You need d3dx9_42.dll. Also its better to keep your directx up to date which means installing redistributable package, instead of putting that dll to MPC-HC folder.

clsid

You might also need D3DCompiler_42.dll, since the d3dx9_XX.dll was split up into two files since v42.

How are people with multiple monitors getting video to work? I have a main monitor which is 1920 x 1200 and my projector is 1280 x 720. When I duplicate the displays movies will play fine but then my 24" monitor is 1280 x 720 (which looks ridiculous) and the aspect ratio is wrong to boot. When I extend the displays so they operate at their native resolutions there is bad stuttering on the projector. I have tried EVR Sync and honestly it isn't any better than EVR CP. I have no way to get the refresh rate to 24 Hz. I can force 50, 56, 59, 60, 70, 72, 73, 75 and 85 Hz via CCC. The regular options (ie not forced) are 50, 59, 60 Hz. How is this possible? Don't thousands of people all over the planet have multiple monitors? Do all of them have unwatchable video?

When you run in an extended monitor mode you must have AERO switched off when displaying on the secondary monitor (there is an option in MPC-HC called disable desktop compposition to do that).

As for the refresh rate, if you cannot get 24hz I would advise using 72hz (is a multiple of 24) and a tool called reclock (http://forum.slysoft.com/forumdisplay.php?f=85) but it can be tricky to set up. What you need to get is the reclock icon in the taskbar to go green, you change both the speed and slowdown media options in it to 5%. Enable the v-sync options in reclock also. This tool will speed up the media to match your refresh rate. Lasty use EVR-SYNC renderer (with reclock) with the option present at nearest v-sync.

If you do everything right you will get stutter free playback.

Tested some new ATI beta drivers:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=319691
The drivers works for XP/Vista/W7 ,32&64bit. Also works for old AGP HD2xxx and 3xxx series.
Tested a video 720p H264,L@5.1 profile and 16ref.frames in MPC-HC. With internal MPC_HC DXVA decoder (compatibility mode=no check) the video plays with artifacts , less visible than with the previous ATI drivers. A slightly improvement though.
Nice AVIVO features with these drivers too.

Edit: Tested with Vista32bit and my old HD3650 based HTPC.

Hello people,

I've just installed Windows 7-64 bit, coming from XP SP3 32 bit. I´ve installed Win7 via dual-boot.

When i installed MPT-HT 1788 yesterday, it didnt work. It started up almost full-screen and without file-menu.

After a short while i figured out that i have to start the process in Vista SP1 compatibility mode. All works fine then.

Is this a known issue ?

Yes! After disabling the DXVA-check within the MPC-videodecoder my Radeon 5450 card played some 1080P-MKV with 8 B-Frames without any errors! This also runs fine with the Catalyst 10.3 and 10.4 preview driver.

However I found out there are some video files with lower resolutions that does show artefacts while playing with DXVA, so the DXVA-check list needs to be updated.
Here is some info about files that shows artefacts on Radeon 4000/5000-cards. For this files DXVA should be disabled.

After using load subtitles then save subtitles functions MPC-HC doesn't "see" the subtitles (the .srt file) saved in the same folder as the video unless I delete (or empty) the default.mpcpl file from the MPC-HC folder ( I'm using a ini file for settings) or I play other video with subtitles
If I open the default.mpcpl after trying to play the video for which I've used load then save subtitles functions I can see only the video file inside and NOT the srt file too or nothing (= the default behavior)

EDIT : Last working version I've tested is 1775 first not working is 1779 so my guess is that problem starts in rev

Did you use a ini file or migrate your settings over from xp?

Nope i didn't. It's a clean Win7-64bit install from DVD (firefox is the only other app ... that clean). I use BitDefenter internet security 2010, and are still working with a 1950XT and Catalyst 10.2. Also used the DX web installer to get DX up to spec, also all updates and patches from windows-update are applied (ofcourse with a legit windows :) )

I just grabbed the installer version of MPC-HT 1788 from xvid-video.ru and installed that on this clean system.

one point of interest maybe: Windows 7 insists on numbering my secondary-display, my TV, as "1" and my main screen as "2". Have no idea how to reverse that order, and why windows does that for that matter. Maybe Windows chooses the main display based on which has the highest resolution ?
Second point of interest: User account control [UAC] is switched. on. It protects by limiting reading from and writing to registry, am i right ? It does pop up when i dont start up in vista compatilbillity mode. Might that be what's preventing MPC-HT to start up reguarly ?

Fullscreen problem still exists in image below, where the image isn't 100% filling the screen, the taskbar can be seen.

For the evr-cp guys, can you notice any problem with the graph above. It was playing perfectly for a few minutes, then all of a sudden it moves like 3 frames every second. The above image is taken when it starts this. It has happened with all versions of nvidia drivers for the last few months, and only happens maybe once a week. Do any of the stats indicate what the stutter problem is caused by?

Did you set the audio codec to output in 5.1? It outputs in Stereo, by default.

Another thing - What does the "Dynamic Range Control" checkbox do?

Compresses the audio's dynamic range. It is evil
