Exactly.

I don't have MediaInfo installed as Explorer Shell Extension. I want to use the one from MPC-HC's internal file properties dialog.

I understood that LigH but this should be doable via the playlist :) right click on the file that failed and select it's properties not via the File Menu, and the playlist should be auto invisible/visible moving the mouse to one edge of the screen (fullscreen) or window edge (windowed) ;)
This would save a lot of useless clicking around to access just 1 option specific to a loaded or tried to loaded file :)

May be with album info also.

but i think the developers see mpc-hc only as a video player.

Feature request: Ability to apply a postprocessing filter to external audio files.

http://www.ld-host.de/uploads/images/6cea97bb45efcb242262f474f4afbb22.png

test.mkv has a H.264 video- and a Vorbis audio stream. Because FFDShow processes the internal Vorbis audio stream, I can apply lots of post-processing on it, but at the moment this is not possible for the external mp3-file. When I load test.mkv, external audio files connect directly to the MPC-HC Audioswitcher, even though I've setup FFDShow's Audio Decoder or Processor to process uncompressed audio.
Basicly the image above illustrates my request: The ability for MPC-HC to apply post-processing filters not only internal audio streams, but on external audio files as well. The DirectShow graph above works great after manually inserting FFDShow's Audio Processor. Obviously FFDShow's Audio Decoder or Processor will apply post-processing no problem when I only load the mp3-file.

nevcairiel
12th March 2012, 14:30
MPC-HCs graph building should allow for this, just add ffdshow Audio Processor to the external filter list and set it to prefer, this should make it insert the processor before the switcher .. in theory anyway. :)

Reino
12th March 2012, 15:30
I tried this already. Only the internal audio stream benefits from this. It gets inserted after FFDShow's Audio Decoder and although Multiple ffdshow instances is set to "no limitations", only 1 instance is inserted in the graph. DC-Bass Source Mod still directly connects to the Audioswitcher.

What does "Allow animation when buffering" under Subtitles?
Because I noticed that it uses GPU too, not just CPU ... (at least with madvr)
I'm usually displaying srt files. Can you provide a sample subtitle, with which I can see what can this option use for?
Thanks

ASLR just got updated for win7 and win8

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2639308

The new feature is called Force ASLR and makes all loaded DLL randomized even if they where compiled without the required flags.

Can someone add this feature to MPC-HC? (and nev can you add it to lavfilters if you hadn't already?)

A media player is not a browser. The browser is one of the "entry points" of malware. I don't see much sense spending any development resources on such "features" for media players. But of course that's only my 2 cents.

The list of in the wild exploits for media player classic is fairly long. People use this app on their pc's for hours on end with 1000's of files downloaded from the wild.

There is a serious security risk.

Currently ASLR is enabled for any image built by using Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 or a later edition unless the linker flag /DYNAMICBASE:NO is used to opt out.

So... what again would we need to change?
Between ASLR and DEP, creating an exploit that does more then crash the application is already incredibly hard.

If someone uses a very old and insecure external component, its their own fault really.
The exploits are not against MPC-HC then anymore, but against such an external filter. The concept is quite different from browser plugins, you are not responsible for the security of every DirectShow filter anyone might've decided to install.

Setting it to force relocation will most likely cause issues in old filters that are not aware of it to begin with, and cause unrest in those users.

Yes, I agree with you! So no sense on the development of the MPC-HC!If the old the filters open source can be resolved by modifying the code.If it is not open source?
PS: Incidentally, one of Microsoft's WMP did not open the DEP code! I do not know that the MPC-HC developers do not solve some BUG? Why is old thinking to join the DEP or similar DEP function! This function is not any benefit to player development. At least I do codecpack, my users do not like to play with this feature!

nevcairiel

Activating DEP (and ASLR) for MPC-HC itself is crucial, and should never be disabled.

The only thing i question is the necessity of setting this Force ASLR mode for MPC-HC, which might just cause more issues with filters that are not ASLR aware then it might solve.

I'd like to get back at my feature request.
At first I thought it was a glitch with MPC-HC in general, but now I'm confident it's a shortcoming of the MPC-HC Audio Switcher.

I've used test.mkv[H.264+Vorbis], test.ogg[Vorbis] and test.mp3[MP3 Audio]. All relevant MPC-HC Source- and Decoder filters are enabled. FFDShow only functions as a post-processor now (Uncompress, all supported).

http://www.ld-host.de/uploads/images/00269f763cf27ca68582a1e6eb383186.png

1. MPC-HC filter graph without the internal audio switcher. 3 FFDShow instances for the 3 audio streams.
2. MPC-HC filter graph with the internal audio switcher. Only 1 FFDShow instance and always on the first audio stream, but no post-processing for the other 2 external audio streams.
3. Filter graph how it would be in Zoom Player. Unlike MPC-HC's audio switcher, Zoom Player's audio switcher connects to FFDShow afterwards and therefore only 1 instance is necessary. In my opinion, this would be a lot easier and more efficient than loading for example 10 FFDShow instances for a mkv-file with 10 soundtracks. What do you say?

Can you upload the samples?Same thing. What kind of splitter or decoder is used doesn't matter.
You can use any H.264 video with corresponding external soundtrack encoded to mp3 or vorbis, but anyway, I've uploaded the 3 files here (http://www.mediafire.com/?7isobqcm06eiegy).

Since an image can say more than a 1000 words...

http://www.ld-host.de/uploads/images/aa46442193fd5226cf7c080350e94ed7.gif

Current situation: MPC-HC only calls 1 instance of FFDShow and applies it only to the first audio track...
How it should be: ...while several instances of FFDShow are no problem for the audio switcher. This works just fine in GraphStudioNext.
Perferred situation: Decode before the audio switcher and post-processing afterwards, but at the moment the MPC-HC Audio Switcher doesn't allow FFDShow on its output pin.

Btw. while MPC-HC automatically loads the FFDShow Audio Decoder (Uncompressed - all supported), it will only load the FFDShow Audio Processor if it's perferred as an external filter. Even if its merrit is 00800000 (preferred).

I need help & a recommendation with settings for my laptop.
mpchc 64bit v4150 on 2ghz dual core, intel mobile 4 chipset (latest drivers), 2 mb ram, win7 ultimate x64 (all updates applied), latest directx.

I deleted registry before updating to this version. First files, frames would severly judder. "Reset to optimal" didn't help. Turned off vsync, worse, back on. Now with alternate vsync on (top three options in that menu) no judder, but I'm getting a ridiculous amount of tearing (sample vid is 720p 5000Kbps.) Currently, flush before vsync, flush after present, aero disabled, frame time correction enabled, vsync, accurate vsync are enabled, and decoding is by dxva.

So, can someone recommend optimal settings? I've been trying this, that, and updating for weeks and can't seem to get anything stable.
Thanks.

@Nev: Fair enough

@73ChargerFan: I have a similar system, all default settings works for me. But only in a single display mode.

If i use a dual mode like clone or extended desktop then i drop frames.

So i disable the laptop screen and put it only on the digital tv though hdmi. (or vise versa)
