View Full Version : Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) - DXVA!
For those guys that might be able to investigate the vc-1 mpc-hc decoding problems I mentioned, I uploaded a sample in my post a few posts up. It nicely shows how the mpc-hc decoder started crashes since build 1051 to 1056. Feedback would be great as it effects anyone playing blu-rays including the popular Planet Earth series.... ;)
There are many m2ts / vc-1 problems with mpc-hc at the moment.I think your problem must be specific to some settings/environment. The clip plays fine here:
MPC-HC b1098
XP SP3, Cat 9.2, 3850
VMR9(renderless), Mixer Mode on
Internal VC-1 decoder (DXVA on)
Internal splitter

I am using software decoding though, not dxva. Any chance you could try without dxva.. :) Thanks for testing.
Yeah, crashes MPC-HC, just after 50 seconds in software mode.

Yeah always at the same point for me, about 50 seconds just as the pure black scene turns bright... hopefully some of the coders can reproduce as easily. Thansk Jong.
Okay, its working now. However, its running too fast. It's running at around 50 fps, instead of 23.976. The funny thing is that ffdshow thinks that it's feeding the stream at 23.976fps. Very weird.
Anyone ever have this issue before?
In an effort to have multiple conversations in the same thread, anyone have any idea why I am getting such sporadic speeds when playing an HD-DVD with Haali's Splitter using 1104?

I have about 7 or 8 bugs, all with samples etc, will add them all to bug tracker this evening, cheers.
So the proper way for using it is to force YV12-only output in ffdshow and then enable this shader in MPC-HC?
The "proper way for using it" is to choose your output settings like you want them, play something with red text on black background and take a close look.
If the red is blocky at the edge: use the shader.
If the red is okay: don't use the shader.
Easy as that.
Or there is another proper way?
It's a shader for MPC-HC - how else would you use it?

OK Added 6 of my top bugs to the tracker. Does anyone know if there is a bug for the m2ts splitter problem where using an external decoder (vc-1 only?) will cause stuttering playback (unless using beliyaal's workaround of frame time correction). This has been a problem for me for quite some time, thought there would already be a bug for it but can't find it.

I just downloaded 1.2.1106.0 and I think there's something seriously wrong with the internal Theora video decoder. Whether it's in a OGG- or a MKV-container, it decodes the Theora video stream with maximum possible speed (cpu @ 100%).
Thought I'd mention.
Interesting question regarding the subtitles texture resolution:
If I choose "Desktop" resolution, which one does it take? I have two monitors, running on 1280x1024 each. Does it take this value or for instance 2560x1024? What happens if monitors have different resolution? Which one is taken into account?
As well, for 4:3 resolutions there, I can see 1024x768 but not 1280x1024.

I have PC connected to LCD HDTV via DVI --> HDMI. I'm not sure if the TV expects PC levels or Video levels. But, I'm trying to obtain truly black bars for content wider than 16:9 and the proper levels for the video content.
If I select the default renderer, I get nice, very black horizontal bars, but playback is terrible (jumps frames every 5 seconds and very poorly anti-aliased only in full screen mode). These black bars go very nicely with the video content if PC Levels are used in CoreAVC.
If I select EVR as renderer, black bars aren't so black. That is, if I select PC Levels (not video levels) in CoreAVC, the video blacks are darker than the bars themselves. If I select Video (not PC) levels in CoreAVC, black levels are similar between the bars and video content, but both aren't truly black.

about this bug : it is really when the shaders resize from 624*352 to 1680*1050 (in reality 1680*944 or 946 I suppose).
if someone have a screen with a similar resolution you can test with a tv episode, or I can provide a sample.
any video resized to 624*352 will do the job.

Hi,
Yesterday I tried MPC with the last version of madVR with a blue-ray and the PGC didn't work. I mean I was able to select them but nothing appeared in the screen. The same configuration with EVR-CP instead of madVR worked fine.
This is a bug from MPC splitter or this is because madVR don not have subtitles pins?
Regards.

Thanks Casimir for fixing the vc-1 software decoder bug and typos I posted in bug tracker. Just posted my last bug related to vc-1 decoding as I have found a range of builds that the problem came in.
tsMuxer doesn't seem to properly remux a HDMV audio track from a m2ts to a m2ts split. The splits won't play back in mpc-hc. I would have liked to have given a sample with this bug I just posted. Its either caused by vc-1 or HDMV implementation in mpc-hc because the range of builds it started in contain changes to vc-1 aswell as introduction of HDMV splitting / decoding...
Any alternatives to tsMuxer?

Updated bug relating to mutliple audio streams playing. I was able to reproduce using old reclock audio renderers. This strange combination of mpc-hc and old reclock has to effects
1) The internal switcher no longer works when reclock is used (is this expected?)
2) Old reclock's allowed mutliple instance to work, some recent (fairly recent?) build stopped this if my memory doesn't deceive me.
I no longer hear multiple streams with new reclock but cannot use the audio switcher.
