I can confirm the subtitle bug, it always resets default style settings after player restart.

I've found another file that doesn't play OK. The total four are here:

Sample 1 (old 2): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZWZE9BSD

The image freezes, green flashes after a few seconds until forever. PDVD7 the same, but after a few seconds image is back to normal, but then freezes and green flashing again. 720x544, 3 ref frames.

Sample 2 (old 5): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QM58PHAK

Upper half of the screen is green, and bottom half artifacts like hell. PDVD7 is the same. 720x544, 3 ref frames.

Sample 3 (old 6): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KIYPO15Q

Blinking green, no image. PDVD7 the same. 720x400, 2 ref frames.

(NEW) Sample 4: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7LGPL3WG

Macrobloking in movement scenes. 1280x720, 2 ref frames.

Can someone with NV hardware test if Sample 4 plays OK in his computer with DXVA? All four are bad with ATI + Vista.

Which part of "your card doesn't support bitstream mode" is so hard to understand?

Yes, it supports partial acceleration of some things needed to decode those formats, but it's not able to fully decode any of them all by itself, which is what MPC-HC is (only) using.

Commercial codecs were written or recoded with using partial acceleration in mind, but it's hard to retro-fit libavcodec (which is used for pure software decoding) with hardware support.

np: Zodiac Youth - Fast Forward The Future (Bucket And Bong Mix) (Auntie Aubrey's Excursions Beyond The Call Of Duty (Disc 1))

Sorry to waste your time.
Because yesterday I just heard that nv 8400gs support bitstream mode from ghostonline so I guess my card can supported by MPC-HC.

Thanks all that helped me during these days.

Nvidia says that 8400M GS and 8400M GT do support bitstream decoding of H264, only 8400M G doesnt:

nv use lots of different cores when making those products. it's kind of confusing for most people.

for example, PV3 is only on the low-middle end of the nv graphic card section. not a single high end nv graphic card support that at this moment. people just always think high end product has more features.. it's definitely not the case for nv.

Ahhhhh....... I'm confuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuused.
Then, above all I think
1. 8400m gs supports bitstream mode but it isn't supported by MPC-HC
2. it doesn't support bitstream mode but nv says it does.
3. the card I bought with unlucky, it has a core doesn't support bitstream mode.
4. still something wrong with my configures

which one is right?

if it is 8400m gs, then it does support that decoding unless you are very unlucky with a broken card, which i really doubt would happen.

if the file you are testing works fine with cyberlink pdvd decoder in dxva, then it's just one of those files which mpc-hc internal decoder doesn't like to play with dxva. i had one listed in this thread, but nobody seems to care.

Hi!

Is it possible to achieve DXVA with Windows XP x64 (not Vista x64). Because any option I set, MPC Video Decoder says "Not using DXVA".

Anyway, a few days ago I had a little problem with VMR9 mode in Windows XP SP3, it suddenly dissapeared. It stopped working, and for that subtitles didn't work in this mode, neither DXVA acceleration or overlays etc etc. I found out that the problem were the /3GB and the /PAE switches in boot.ini. Don't ask why, I was messing around with them. But I hope you can find this info useful (if any of you have this problem, or if you want to try it).

Still does not work for me but if I change "Regional and Language Options" > "Customize..." > "Decimal symbol" from "," to "." it works.

Thanks - i try fix.

On default delimer is "," - that's why for you not work.

Other question - what regional setting in you Windows ??? What is your OS ???

P.S. - My OS - Vista x64, Decimal symbol - "," to, but setting save and load fine, when see in registry i view this string:

SPDefaultStyle - 20,20,20,20,2,0,2.000000,3.000000,0xffffff,0x00ffff,0x000000,0x000000,0x20,0x20,0x20,0x20,204,Arial,18.000000,100.000000,100.000000,0.000000,700,0,0,0,0,0.000000,0.000000,0.000000,2

See - delimer float is '.' in string, but in Regional is ","

I tested your video. the result is the same as the samples at hand, cyberlink h.264 decoder can decode it with hardware acceleration but mpc-hc's internal decoder can't.

I drop a sample over dxva checker, then scroll down, find only cyberlink decoder is there ......

at last, I think twice, if cyberlink decoder works fine, in fact I don't need to make mpc-hc's internal decoder work......

thank you for your help.

Bulid 696 works better than before with direct3d fullscreen for me.
One problem I'm still having is that when I start a video it automaticly enters fullscreen, but not properly.
The controls continue to flicker and that doesn't go away until I press the keys to enter fullscreen mode manually.
Maybe you could make it so that this is done everytime a video is loaded instead since you have to do it anyway when using direct3d fullscreen mode.

take the MPCVideoDec.ax from the standalone filters pack (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/view/93/2/), register it, and then verfify a video again with DXVAChecker. if MPC_HC decoders appears in red, right click on it and select "play in EVR"
question: do you use Cyberlinks decoder as external filter in MPC-HC ? because if DXVA works with Cyberlinks decoder when you play a file in MPC-HC it would mean that the settings in MPC-HC are correct. you should get a maximum of maybe 10% CPU utilization when playing a H264 file, if cyberlink uses Bitstream-mode for decoding. a way to find out is to rightclick on the video, get to "Filters" and when selecting the " Cyberlink decoder" hold "Ctrl". the advanced settings for cyberlink will apear

8200 and 8400gs(G98 core)have pv3.
8400gs(G86 core) doesn't, only has pv2.

h264 decoding is included in both pv2 and pv3.

i never had problems using Graphedit or Graphstudio combined with MPC-HC's standalone decoder on XP + Nvidia, even playing the video with DXVA in ActiveMovieWindow

the videowindow is dark, and the renderer is VMR? i cant insert another renderer in Graphedit, as the program will crash when i try to open the DirectShowFilters list

I think you must have been noticed i have been using Vista 32 SP1, not a traditional XP.

thats why i mentioned that i'm using XP :P. by the way, in Vista, can you connect to the remote graph of WMP ?

That is what i was trying to explain; same was on Vista:
whenever i tried to insert another filter -exactly when i click on directshow filters- graphedit gets crushed.
I say give it a go with graphstudio.

Edit: OK, you've mentioned vista.

If i use WMP; the answer is "no"

If i use MPC-HC, the answer is "yes".

BTW i got proppage.dll from the latest Windows SDK.

Graphstudio 2.6.0 beta works fine, as does the newest 2.8.0 you mentioned. even Graphedit worked fine a while ago, until something changed regarding my Output Renderers (although i didnt make any update to Directx)

i noticed that the VMR9renderless propriety page has changed if i select VMR9 from the "Filters" list when playing a file in MPC-HC. also the behavior of the other output renderers has changed. is this a change in MPC-HC or my XP has some issues?

VMR9renderless propriety page:

take the MPCVideoDec.ax from the standalone filters pack (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/view/93/2/), register it, and then verfify a video again with DXVAChecker. if MPC_HC decoders appears in red, right click on it and select "play in EVR"
question: do you use Cyberlinks decoder as external filter in MPC-HC ? because if DXVA works with Cyberlinks decoder when you play a file in MPC-HC it would mean that the settings in MPC-HC are correct. you should get a maximum of maybe 10% CPU utilization when playing a H264 file, if cyberlink uses Bitstream-mode for decoding. a way to find out is to rightclick on the video, get to "Filters" and when selecting the " Cyberlink decoder" hold "Ctrl". the advanced settings for cyberlink will apear

i have the bob hd dvd and when i try to play the first episode with the mpc-hc h264 filter the output looks like this

it looks this way with DXVA on or off with mpc-hc filter but it looks normal with the cyberlink decoder.

Oh, it works. seems the efforts aren't wasted. ^ ^
After updating drivers MPC-HC's internal decoder plays video with hardware acceleration. (the newest drivers on Lenovo notebook's website for my card is over one year ago...)

Thanks all for your helps very much.
