I want to report another bug when playing linked files.

When linked file is called by the main file video becomes broken on some occasions. Like this:

http://img151.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ryroonmyoutaisenki01dvd.png

It stays broken as long as linked file is playing. When the main file starts playing agian video becomes normal. First I thought it should be haali bug. But when i'm using ffdshow (both ffmpeg and libavcodec) or coreavc (with x86 version of MPC-HC) it plays without issues.

Main file (first 4 minutes of it):
http://sharebee.com/91c1a2ea

Linked file:
http://sharebee.com/09e647f1

Linked file is called at 1:54. This sample is SD video encode with 16 Reframes for both main and linked files. MPC-HC cannot use DXVA. I have another HD encode (1080p) with 9 Reframes for both linked and main files. MPC-HC uses DXVA and there is the same issue. If i use internal ffmpeg video becomes broken when playing linked file. If i use ffdshow or coreavc it plays normally.

Could you try remuxing the file with the newest build of mkvmerge found here:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1291874#post1291874

(just load the mkv, change the output name and click the remux button)

OK, just tried this, no difference in the playback, still stutters.

I make test version - http://aleksoid.tosei.ru/mplayerc_1143_test.7z - work AR, fast move/switch between monitors, window and fullscreen mode.Okay i tested this on my multi-monitor system

I could move between the 2 windows without any crashes, but the screen did hang often(for a few seconds) and redrawing was slow.

Still the no crashes part is the most important for me.

Secondly switching from windowed to fullscreen mode using F11 works fine, but sometimes when i doubleclick the titlebar to change between fullscreen-windowed and 100%zoom-windowed mplayerc will still crash.

------------

@Everyone:
There appears to be a regression in the DXVA decoder, we will have to wait for Casimir to login and check those samples.

on XP and rev1141 the sample you provided presents stuttering, older frames are repeated during playback, and then video freezes arround 00:15 .

Another bug. Here is the sample:

http://sharebee.com/64d25812

I use ffmpeg internal decoder. I start with window mode. It plays nicely. When I switch to full screen mode video becomes broken (thick green line at the bottom and other video artifacts). Switching back to window mode, video stays broken. No problem with DXVA, ffdshow or coreavc.
Also there is a linked opening here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R8W8V9PT

When I use ffmpeg internal decoder, same issues appear. There is no problem if I play opening separately using DXVA. If I play the main file using DXVA (it calls the opening first), there is very high GPU utilization with all resizers. Video stutters.

Guys, just trying to sort out my list of bugs, and making note of the final 1 or 2 bugs and feature requests I want to make.

Does anyone know if mpc-hc is expected to add files to the playlist when multiple files are opened. If this isn't the current behaviour would anyone object to me adding this as a feature request. I would have expected opening a list of say 6 tv show episodes, to play each in order one after another.

I have submitted a fix for a hang when you move between monitors, but I'm not sure what aspect ratio changes you are talking about when moving between monitors. Do we have a bug for this with sample and which renderer/settings?

Do we have a bug for this with sample and which renderer/settings?I'm sure that fix will add nicely to the work aleksoid has done (but not yet submitted).

That specific AR bug can be found here:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2794624&group_id=170561&atid=854651

However the original submitter did not post a sample.
He does mention that it only occurs with the .avi container and that h264 files are affected more often than other video formats.

To Casimir and Aleksoid:

Starting with 1141 the internal DXVA decoder is completely broken. All h264 and vc-1 BD m2ts i tried show only every second frame and jump between frames. 1137 works perfectly. I have Wait For GPU Flush enabled and it shows insane amounts of wait for gpu times.

System: XP SP3, ATI 2600 Pro AGP, VMR9 rl, VSYNC all off, Wait for GPU & Flush before Vsync enabled.

Same error with Wait for GPU and Flush before Vsync disabled.

Using the Cyberlink DXVA H264 decoder works. So it must be the changes to the internal MPC DXVA decoder.
I make test version - http://aleksoid.tosei.ru/mplayerc_1143_test.7z - work AR, fast move/switch between monitors, window and fullscreen mode.

to Casshern - DXVA is temporary broken in this revision, wait for Casimir to fix this.

Can you make short sample(for H264 and VC-1) 5~10Mb and upload this.

In this BD M2TS sample MPC-HC (newest) thinks it has three 1080p video streams, when it actually has one 1080p stream and one 480p stream, verified by BDInfo and eac3to.

Bug svn1137 - Can someone confirm?

h264 1080p video from BD muxed to mkv using eac3to, name "movie.mkv" (no audio track, only video)
Lossless soundtrack made into dts & flac using eac3to, names "movie.dts" and "movie.flac"

I load "movie.mkv" and mpc-hc sees the dts & flac files with same filename, and loads them. Audio switch is enabled, and defaults to "movie.dts" for audio playback. Latest Haali splitter is used, XP32 sp3.

Seeking causes random lockup with DTS soundtrack.

BUG - Seeking with movie.flac soundtrack: first seek doesn't change position in audio file, but second seek does. Third doesn't, fourth does.

Same thing happens with internal MKV splitter.

DXVA is not completely broken (all my samples work perfectly), however the ones posted here are broken on my system too, so there is something wrong.

As aleksoid said we will have to wait (revert to previous build for now or use software decoding)

@Dev's

This bug report is from a developer writing a new external filter, he seems to be having problems connecting, can anyone help him out?.

@ Tetsuo55
I think something has to change about bug reports cause too many DON'T follow the rules (at least samples when needed) !
Maybe a "sticky" on the top of that page and NOT allowing "nobody" reports

tetsuo55
3rd June 2009, 10:32
Yeah i was thinking about removing the "nobody" option. But that 's up to Casimir to decide.

Not every bug report requires a sample, but most do, if a sample is not added after xx days i close the reports.

I added the bug reporting rules to the Wiki but someone has to help out and reformat them to look good in HTML
http://mpc-hc.wiki.sourceforge.net/Troubleshooting+guidelines

Also clear instruction on how to cut samples has to be written

This document has to be formatted better and split into all os versions from win95 to win 7 (and possibly Wine?)
http://mpc-hc.wiki.sourceforge.net/Update+Your+System+Software

Once all the help is available for the end users only then should we decide to change the tracker rules, after all how can people know what to do if we do not tell them first.

I think you should add / "make more visible" this or something similar to the rules

"Please use ONLY MPC's internal splitters & filters and ONLY if necessary others, and when external splitters and filters are involved MAKE SURE to test those splitters and filters with graph studio too"

to avoid many FALSE bug reports (example: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2797670&group_id=170561&atid=854651) :(

I also think you should add TSSplitter (http://www.ffprojects.net/tssplitter/) which is working even for the unsupported formats IF you keep the beginning part, in my experience ;), on how to cut samples

I would love to provide samples, but the material stems from retail blu-ray. There are copyright issues. I would not dismiss reports without samples, just because the poster is trying to stay within the legal boundaries. Also i would regard the value of commercially available material higher, than homegrown encodes. While also having problems the variation in the standards employed is less. But you are right at least one should state the exact source of the material, Let me start by the titles i tried that do not work from 1141 on:

The Changeling (US BD Release)
VC1 - Profile: Advanced@3 Resolution: 1920:1080p Frame rate: 23.976

And I tried Casino Royale (German BD)
H264 - Profile: High@4.1 Resolution: 1920:1080p Frame rate: 23.976

These a the ones i remember, i tried many other and none worked on my setup (see last post)

Yes, those tiny samples used to fix bugs in the software should fall under fair use policy(and the hosting providers i mentioned already follow DCMA rules).

See also here:
http://www.bitlaw.com/copyright/fair_use.html

According to the law these samples would fall under "non profit research"

Thanks for the link. I was hoping this new driver would fix avc dxva corruption I have been getting but it hasn't. I am not sure if this is a mpc-hc issue or nvidia / windows 7 issue. Anyone in windows 7 want to try dxva (even with oldish builds, havn't gone back very far) to see if they see blockyness coming into the image with dxva avc.

...even with Cyberlinks's H.264 decoder the image flicks back and forth like crazy and disintegrates into macroblocks after a short while....
Nearly nine months after this post of mine I had hoped this bug was fixed (pertains to VMR9 only, ATi 3650 card), but it isn't.
So I thought it may be my system after all and installed XP anew, with all the latest drivers, DirectX updates, the works.
With the result that now I get the problem with VMR9 renderless & DXVA in MPC and ZoomPlayer 6. Duh!
Is there anything I am missing? Any software I need to install? Any registry tweaks? Anything at all I can do about it?
Thank a lot in advance.

Thank a lot in advance.Follow the instructions in my signature. Is your card an AGP card by any chance?(if so you will need to follow some extra steps not mentioned in my signature)
the combination of settings you mention work completely fine for me and as far as i know all the dev's and regulars.

ADD : Gui options for enabled/disable reinitialize when display changing(ResetDevice());

Hi Aleksoid, can you please explain why would want to enable/disable this??

This could cause strange bugs. For example if you don't reset the device when moving between monitors the VSync is detected for the monitor where you started the player.

I, for example, have at home 22 monitor and 32 LCD TV and both the frequency of 60Hz and i don't need ResetDevice when move between them.
At work - 22 monitor and 17 monitor - and too 60Hz.

Why i must wait for this reinitialize and sometimes then move to second monitor - black screen and only sound.

Here's why this option.

That is my preference.

Currectly there are some bugs with deadlocks with VMR9 Renderless that prevents it from working correctly and the resetting of aspect ratio etc that is avoided by not resetting the device. That is the reason for this option, to avoid those bugs.

Okay i understand,

Did those 2 quote's i posted help you out at all? (byuu and kode54)http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1292807#post1292807

Also once all those problems are fixed the option would no longer be needed right?

No, that is already the way the renderers work. The problems are related to deadlocks and other side effects of resetting the device.
