Greetings Casimir.
A quick progress report on v1764, W7 x86.
1. TMT3 v170 Arcsoft VC1 decoder is now working in MPC, connecting to all splitters without issue.
2. MPC's internal H264 decoder is playing 1920x1080@60p mp4 clips at 30fps using Arcsoft MP4 splitter, but still giving black screen with internal mp4 splitter.
3. MPC's internal VC1 decoder still not working with 1080@60p wmv clips.
Best regards.

Hi,
I have reported this to Albain in the ffdshow thread, but I thought I'd mention it here since it seems to be an issue with the mpc-hc mkv splitter according to him.
I am using FFdshow dxva + mpc-hc splitter for mkvs in Windows Media Center. However using Albain's Media Control tool, it fails to consistently "find" the list of subtitle/audio streams within the mkv. Oddly it works when using ffdshow (w/o dxva) but according to Albain it has something to do with the splitter. I looked at the currently open tickets but wasn't sure if any of those are for this particular issue. Please let me know if you need more information.
Thanks

I'm debugging Sync EVR and would like to test with a DXVA-enabled decoder (not the built in). Sometimes I end up in DXVA mode with e.g. the NVidia MPEG2 decoder but most times not (with one and the same MPEG2 source). The probability to get into DXVA seems to increase somewhat if I run VMR9 before I try EVR. But it's not reliable. I think this used to work better before and I always got DXVA1 (and sometimes it even said DXVA2 but I don't know...). Maybe the new ATI driver does things differently? -A

You are mistaken, this file works perfectly with Win7 x64. To work properly SubWCRev.exe required associated files, without them it will not work.

I've installed TortoiseSVN x64 Edition under win7 x64. The 32-bit SubWCRev overrides the environment variables of win 7 x64 with which the installed x64 edition one works perfectly. As a result the custom VS pre-build-events for mpc-hc project cann't works properly. So it's unnecessary to add SubWCRev.exe to svn. In addtion the SubWCRev.exe depends on libapr_tsvn.dll, libaprutil_tsvn.dll and intl3_tsvn.dll files which included in TortoiseSVN. Only adding the SubWCRev.exe to svn is not enough. The best option is remain the point as before.

Some easily obtainable decoders that use DXVA are:
Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder
DivX H.264 decoder
Microsoft MPEG-2 decoder (on Vista/7) and H.264 decoder (Win 7)

I also suggest moving the SubWCRev related commands to a .bat file. I have done that in the ffdshow project and its much cleaner and easier to maintain than putting the commands in the VS project files.

Hi all, Have been using ffdshow audio + video for the last few years for various reasons, some of which I think mpc-hc can handle for me.
Video:
1) I wanted to be able to output nv12 for mpeg2, to take advantage of hardware de-interlacing, but be able to select whether to output the interlaced flag or not.
1a) I can use mpc-hc mpeg2 dxva decoder for this. I see it appears as a microsoft decoder in filters though......?
1b) I don't see any ability in the mpc-hc dxva mpeg2 decoder to enable / disable the interlaced flag though. Manually disabling this is necessary for most PAL dvd's as they get interlaced when they shouldn't unless this is changed. In ffdshow I have the "Set interlace flag in output media type" option that I can set to Method: Weave or Bob manually for various types of badly encoded content. Shall I add this as a feature request. Otherwise I think I would need ffdshow video.....
2) I wanted to be able to convert to RGB32 to take advantage of ffdshows high quality conversion but nvidias conversion looks identical now when outputting nv12.
Audio:
1) I wanted to be able to decode lossy formats at highest available bit depth, and lossless formats at their original bit-depth. (This is one I don't think I can do with mpc-hc yet, its either one output depth or another, no automatic setting?)
2) I wanted to be able to output upto 7.1 channels but the mpc-hc decoder only lists upto 5.1 in the configuration area.
I suppose my questions are, are there any advantage still of using ffdshow video decoders, and for audio, will or can mpc-hc perform as I expect with relation to bit-depths and output channels?
I also assume the mpc-hc dxva decoders are just as good as the ffdshow dxva decoder.
I want to have as few components in the chain as possible without sacrificing 0.0001% in possible quality :)
Thanks,
FredThompson

OK, I've checked. You are correct. I have both mpc and mpc-hc on multiple computers. On on of them, mpc worked properly but mpc-hc would not play some formats. They would open but not play. The problem must be coming from somewhere else. Thanks for your reply.

I am using XvidVideo.ru (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/) builds because I can't find any other place to download recent builds of MPC-HC.
They propose 3 downloads :
* Complete package
* Only EXE file
* Standalone Filters
The files aren't the same so I can't really tell: are « standalone filters » included in the complete package?
If "no", then what is the purpose of MediaInfo.dll and mpciconlib.dll? (in order to know if complete package is usefull for me or not)
namaiki
29th March 2010, 04:33
MediaInfo.dll
MediaInfo extention that will give you detailed information about the file you have open.
mpciconlib.dll
Icons for MPC-HC.
Standalone filters are already in the exe AFAIK.

The proper way to fix this is once and for all is to install the DirectX runtime (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displayLang=en) - yes, even under Windows 7, since it doesn't come with any recent version of DirectX 9 either.
Thanks, it works!
But that makes MPC the largest media player software download requirement ever.
And on a side note, it would have been nice to at least provide this link in the error message, instead of having people find out by themself how to fix this issue.

It's probably some bug in the player though and related to dual monitor, and maybe it's also related to Windows 2003 which I use (with a Radeon 4850).
Set up primary monitor on second dvi port, the second monitor on the first DVI port, set in control panel the monitor order as [ 2 ] [ 1 ] with desktop extended to the second monitor.
With VMR9 renderless when MPC-HC is dragged to the second monitor [ 1 ] in the layout, it just crashes with an error reading memory address xxx:xxx something..
With EVR (Vista/.Net3) the image was just frozen. With EVR Custom Presenter, the movie was running something like 2x the speed.
Also Overlay was not supported on the second screen because the tv tuner would also stop working when dragged over.
Since then, I've uninstalled the driver, switched the monitors so that the primary monitor is on first dvi port, second on the 2nd dvi port and the order of the panels is [1] [2] in ATI's Control Center and now VMR9 and the two EVR modes work, can drag MPC-HC to the second screen with no issues, overlay also works on second monitor.
Though with the second setup I've installed RealtimeSoft UltraMon and maybe that also has something to do with the whole setup.

I have a question on the chroma upsampling problem (the blockiness around reds.) ffdshow has a nice option called "High quality YV12 to RGB conversion" that completely does away with this issue. Is there or would it be possible to add something similar to MPC-HC? I know there's a "YV12 Chroma Upsampling" shader but the result is not as good as the option in ffdshow, at least not with lower-res stuff (and it only works during display, so screenshots for example still have the artifacting.)
Also, I'm running an ATI HD4670 on WinXP using VMR9 (renderless), would upgrading to Win7 so I could use EVR fix this?

There is MadVR, a renderer that does chroma upsampling with the best possible quality.

It was always checked and still is.
I can't reproduce the issue now as I switched the monitors in the correct order (primary lcd in first dvi and so on) and I'm not keen on experimenting again (the ati driver still does blue screens when I mess with it and forget to uninstall the driver before changing slots)

Guys... like I wrote ar-jar (wonderful guy) using PMs:
Nvidia Forceware 197.13 recently became WHQL drivers and are recommended by Nvidia to all its users.
Both "Custom EVR" and "EVR Sync" have stuttering issues (reported here in this thread) w/ this version of the driver.
I believe this should be fixed ASAP, as more and more users experience the issue in the tech support forum I'm helping at.

Some did. The thing is... nobody's sure if it's a driver issue or a MPC-HC issue.
The fact remains, both these renderers did work w/ previous driver versions... but that still doesn't necessarily makes it a driver issue.
Looking the the Stats graph, one can clearly see MPC-HC is having difficulty timing the frames (see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1383971#post1383971); look how the red lines are jumping above the green ones).
Regular (system-provided) EVR works fine, of course.
EDIT: btw, I'm pretty sure that ar-jar would find the cause pretty quickly (as this issue can easily be reproduced)... If anyone knows the EVR frame timing code- it's him. We can only hope he finds the free time to debug this issue.

None of these issues neither with my old ATI HD3650(Vista) or the even older Hd2600XT(XP) from my son's computer. So it's definitely not a MPC-HC problem. On Guru 3d some guys reported strange behaviour for NVIDIA cards ,with the latest drivers ,on other players too(ex KMPlayer)

It's the MJPEG filter which MPC has always had problems with - your video uses the MJPEG codec and has the same issues my camera videos did so I installed FFDSHOW and enabled only the MJPEG decoder and now the video is smooth as normal in MPC.
