Any possibility of downmixing options for FLAC, similar to those of DTS/AAC/AC3? It's a pain having to constantly increase the volume for 5.1 FLAC tracks when the output is 2.0 because of the lack of downmixing.
r1065 crashes for me when DXVA tries to kick in when I play interlaced H.264 videos. MPC-HC x64, Vista, on a Radeon HD 4850, Catalyst 9.4. r1060 does not.
And heres a minidump as it's still happening even with the latest revision (dump from r1075):

Help please.
If you register the 64-bit version of standalone MPCVideodec.ax then Radlight Manager CAN'T find it cause R.D. it's for 32-bit filters AFAIK otherwise make sure you use regsvr32 from WOW to register a 32-bit standalone MPCVideodec.ax !

I can confirm that internal DTS decoder has wrong channel mapping.
I have formatted my system again:
*Windows 7 7100
*Catalyst 9.5 beta with 9.4 CCC
*MPC-HC 1079
-All WMV problems seem to be solved
-I have less problems with stutter/macroblocking
-The optimal settings work for my system too now
-D3D fullscreen modem with enough EVR buffers results in smooth playback even with subtitles (i have set them to 10 for now)
-Subtitle settings are at default
With D3D fullscreen disabled and optimal settings i get unstable playback.
With D3D fullscreen disabled and the settings i used before i get slight macroblocking
With D3D fullscreen disabled and the settings i used before and subtitles enabled the stuttering is not as bad as before, almost watchable.
I have now found an almost perfect combination of settings to allow smooth playback. But the subtitle code still needs a lot of work.

"Contains":cool: the 32-bit apps! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64)
WoW64 (Windows-on-Windows 64-bit) is a subsystem of the Windows operating system that is capable of running 32-bit applications and is included on all 64-bit versions of Windows — including Windows 2000 Limited Edition, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, IA-64 and x64 versions of Windows Server 2003, 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, as well as 64 bit editions of Windows 7. WoW64 is designed to take care of all the differences between 32-bit Windows and 64-bit Windows, particularly involving structural changes to Windows itself.

main page only gets updated when significant changes/bug fixes have been made.
Also it has to be as stable as possible.
Casimir wants to release a new version asap, but we need to fix a lot of bugs before that can happen, and he is very busy with real life.

lol I understand, I will post my bugs to the tracker.
I also have a suggestion I would like to see added to mpc-hc before the next stable release to the public, relating to mpc-hc's default stance on de-interlacing of mpeg2. Alot of my friends by default install mpc-hc and by default it bobs interlaced material..... but for my friends mainly watching DVD's this means almost all of their content gets viewed at half resolution due to badly marked DVDs.... I really think this needs to be discussed before a new release... surely something can be done as a compromise.

What do you suggest as a solution?
You are the one person to ask right now imho, when it comes to what you would like with regards to deinterlacing

What do you suggest as a solution?
You are the one person to ask right now imho, when it comes to what you would like with regards to deinterlacing
Its hard to know really, for me (when setting up pc's for friends), because they generally watch a tiny percentage of interlaced material, I either
1) force to weave if they have a slow gfx card / old / integrated one
2) or if they have a newish gfx card I output the interlaced flag to their gfx card and thats not too bad of a solution either as these newer cards do a really god job, even when the interlaced flag is set wrong.
BUT 2 works fine if the graphics card can do its advanced de-interlacing techniques in yv12, where as some cannot and need nv12.
I think the best solution at the moment until we get an advanced detection of interlaced / progressive technique, would be to use
1) Option 2, output the flag,
2) and for output type (yv12 currently is default), there could be an option of either Auto (the new default which outputs nv12 or yv12 depending on the card), along with whatever other options there are, yv12, nv12, xyz etc.
I can see this setup working (by default which is very important I feel) very well on most users machines.
Of course this is just off the top of my head and I am sure my logic could be improved.

@Everyone,
Thank you for testing Batch 1.
I have updated all bugs with the new bug reporting instructions.
Any bugs that do not already contain the required information and are not updated will be closed as fixed or invalid.
Please make sure you double check your bug reports.
Next up is batch 2:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=browse&group_id=170561&atid=854651&status=1&artgroup=898923
The new bug reporting rules can be read here:
How to report bugs
Step One: Make sure you have followed the following steps to make sure it's not a configuration/Version problem:
**First download the newest build here:http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/category/1/1/2/
(You can also find older builds here for regression testing)
**You can check out the changelog here, the problem might have been fixed in a newer version than the one you where using:http://mpc-hc.svn.sourceforge.net/vi...c-hc/?view=log
**MPC-HC settings stored in the registry may be incompatible with earlier versions. The settings can be deleted: save the following code as "clean-registry.reg" and run it(with admin rights in vista/win7).
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gabest]The same goes for the settings.ini file created next to the mplayerc.exe, delete it.
(In both cases MPC will recreate the settings entries on the first run.)
**Make sure you're videocard drivers and directX version are up to date
If this does not solve the problem move on to step two
Step Two: Provide as much system information as possible:
**Windows and servicepack versions
**MPC-HC build version, when reporting regressions please name the last working build, also comparisons to other players (even MPC regular) are very welcome
**Try with both internal and haali splitter and report the difference in results
**Try with both internal and external codecs and report the difference in results
**If appropriate FFdshow build number, If using ffdshow, then also test with internal transform filter if appropriate.
**Videocard and driver version
**Renderer used and options selected in the output settings (a screenshot of the output menu, rightmouseclick filters and rightmousclick renderer settings). Also try with different settings/renderers.
Step Three: Provide sample(s) and screenshot(s)
**A sample can be cut with avidemux(http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/) or mkvmerge(http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/)
**A screenshot can be made by pressing the "print screen" button on the keyboard and opening paint, then paste (CTRL+V)
Please upload screenshots to http://imageshack.us/
Please upload samples to http://sharebee.com and post all the mirrors
**If the bug causes mpc-hc to crash, attach a minidump or upload it it to http://sharebee.com and post all the mirrors. You can make a mini dump by starting mplayerc.exe in a command line(with administrator rights) with the option "mplayerc.exe /minidump" and upload the ".dmp" file generated after crash.
Step Four: Write a detailed explanation of how to reproduce the problem
I update this bug
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=2731336&group_id=170561&atid=854651
try with the last version 1079 and I have the same problem under evr
custom
OS: XP sp3 and vista sp1

I try with internal codec or ffdshow codec (many versions since 2700 until
2906) and I have the same problem
video card geforce gtx280 and driver 185.68.
I try with many versions (since 178.12 until 185.68 and i have the same

Ok, I've been seeing this for quite some time and I'm wondering if it can be fixed.
I'm running build 1079 on Windows 7 with an Nvidia 8400GS card with the very latest beta drivers (every driver upgrade has had this problem) and no matter what, when I was running XP even, a horizontal grey stripe appears on HD Mov trailers from Apple or Yahoo.
Here's the latest Transformers trailer on EVR custom (optimal settings)
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/7781/84660115hdmovsnapshot20.th.jpg (http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=84660115hdmovsnapshot20.jpg)
And here is the same trailer using the latest Haali Renderer. Note that the stripe is completely gone.
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/7781/84660115hdmovsnapshot20.th.jpg (http://img12.imageshack.us/my.php?image=84660115hdmovsnapshot20.jpg)
Here's a link to the original trailer.
http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist.dll?sid=84660115&sdm=web&pt=rd
So, is there a workaround so that I can watch these trailers without having to switch to Haali to take out the grey?

@ikarad, thanks for updating.
@neoufo51, Known issue.
@Everyone:
Feature Requests:
Please check the feature request tracker on the SF page, if the feature you want is not yet listed there add it.
The available MPC-HC developers are very busy.
Don't expect too many updates or a stable release soon.
Especially getting feature requests in is going to be a long process.
Best chance is to submit a patch that implements the request or fixes a bug.

Haali splitter does not support m2ts correctly, built in splitter works fine.

I cannot get ffdshow as the decoder for DVD.
MPC-HC uses "Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder" which uses DXVA assisted decoding.
If i block that MPC-HC uses the build in MPEG2 decoder with the message "low merit" (eventhough it has been unchecked in the internal filters)
I have set ffdshow to have the highest merit in both MPC-HC and ffdshow itself.
audio is decoded by ffdshow audio without needing to change any settings.

1) All unchecked internal splitters are added to the graph builder with the lowest possible merit. This is by design as a fallback method. They will only get used if not other suitable filter can found.
2) Behavior on Windows 7 is a bit weird in some cases due to changes that MS has made. Settings ffdshow as "preferred" should work better. Changing the merit does not have an effect.

Everything working as expected now
Quick question that is a little off topic, but only a little:
Does ffdshow-audio-decoder include an AC3 encoder (for the purpose of re-encoding audio for SPDIF output) ?
Yes. Have a look at its output settings.

Casimir666,
your MPC HC is a very fantastic player.
It is the first time that I post here, but, I have two problems.
The first problem is the same as Tetsuo55, Tery and Ikarad
I found a problem when i want to see a dvd movie (which doesn't contain subtitle) + load external subtitles for dvd.
When I want to see a dvd movie (I use open dvd function)+ load external subtitles (I use load subtitle function).
Under vmr9 renderless
Subtitles appeared during ads or logos before the start of the movie. But When the movie starts, subtitles restart from the beginning

I have the same problem
This problem is related here
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2731336&group_id=170561&atid=854651
I also noticed that this problem occurs with evr custom but also with haali renderer. With vmr9 renderless or vmr7 renderless, this problem doesn't exist.
Is-it possible to fix it?
The second problem is related here

Thank you very much
The external subtitle file with DVD and vmr9 is not really a bug. A DVD contains multiple independent video segments. The best that MPC can do is show the same subtitles with every single video on a DVD, because it has no way of knowing to which one it belongs.
A possible tweak could be to hide the subs for very short segments.

I noticed a regression since the Beliyaal merge, that's preventing me from upgrading to latest version. When watching a video fullscreen (1680x1050), random lines appear if I try to zoom in. This happens only when I use the Bicubic resizer with VMR9 renderless and EVR custom (I tested on both XP and Vista), with every video format SD & HD.
Here's an example:
Before

After

- Ati Radeon HD 3650 / Catalyst 9.4
- Renderer: VMR 9 renderless / other output options: 3D surfaces, VMR9 mixer mode, lock back-buffer
Also I noticed this on the Beliyaal thread. Maybe he knows more about what's causing this:

I have submitted some fixes to SVN. Check if they work in a SVN build later than or equal to 1089:
Extra (gray) pixels at bottom and right of video when decoding with DXVA removed.
Bicubic resizer checker pattern when zooming.
Tearing when subtitles are enabled possibly fixed.
Bad render performance when coming back from other session / display settings changed / changing channel on TV / etc.
Yes. Have a look at its output settings.
What I am trying to do is to take a 24-bit 96khz 6 channel FLAC file and output it through SPDIF as an AC3 6 channel file (at 640k) to hear the 6 channel surround effects.
AC3FILTER does not support 96khz - something which is noted in their Forums, but the author seems to have abandoned the project.
One reason that I tend to avoid ffdshow (both video and audio) is that the options are so numerous that it is easy to get lost, as well as missing important checkboxes...
Any help would be appreciated as my first try was not successful...
ffdshow also only supports 32/48kHz AC3 output.
The author of AC3Filter is often MIA for long periods. Usually he is active only during the summer.

As promised here are the documentation for the new settings.
Output RangeThis setting is used for specifying the OUTPUT range of the YUV to RGB transfrom.
0 - 255The output from the YUV transfrom is 0 to 255 in 8 bit or 0 to 1023 in 10 bit. This is the default and normally the best option for computer monitors and most TVs.
16 - 235The output from the YUV transfrom is 16 to 235 in 8 bit or 64 to 940 in 10 bit. This is the best option for some TV:s that expect the input signal at 16 to 235 levels.
Presentation
D3D Fullscreen ModeThis causes the player to create a fullscreen D3D device. This can be useful to remove tearing in cases when neither normal nor alternative vsync is able to do so. This is also the only mode where it's possible to use a 10 bit output for the display device.
D3D Fullscreen GUI SupportThis option enables support for the right click menus and setting on the monitor that is in fullscreen mode. The draback enabling this is that the backbuffer of the D3D device must be lockable, which can cause compatibility issues and possibly tearing even when in D3D fullscreen mode.
10 bit RGBThis enables 10 bit processing in the whole pipeline after the YUV transform. Backbuffer, temporary buffers and video frames are always in 10 bit. To enable 10 bit for the display buffer D3D fullscreen mode and Vista or later is required.
Video drivers have been known to be buggy with the 10 bit pipeline. For example: Deinterlacing crashes the player and 16-235 levels isn't availeble on ATI drivers.
Disable desktop compositionUsed to disable desktop composition in Vista or later while the player is running. This can solve some stuttering issues, and will decrease the video latency by one frame.
Enable Frame Time CorrectionEnable only when you experiency stuttering video because of a buggy decoder or splitter. For example VC-1 content in m2ts container currently needs this.
VSync
VSyncCan be used to disable VSync. This is not recommended normally as disabling VSync will remove many stuttering and threading fixes. Should only used for debugging purposes.
Accurate VSyncCan be used to disable accurate VSync. If accurate VSync is disabled CPU usage is slightly decreased, especially when alternative VSync is also disabled.
Alternative VSyncEnabling alternative VSync will bypass the default VSync built into D3D. This can often get rid of tearing issues and is the preferred mode of VSync if your hardware/drivers are compatible with it.
Decrease vsync offsetUsed to move the VSync position upwards. Only available with alternative VSync enabled and desktop composition disabled. Use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+UP
Increase vsync offsetUsed to move the VSync position downwards. Only available with alternative VSync enabled and desktop composition disabled. Use the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+UP
GPU Control
Flush GPU before VSyncFlushing the GPU before VSync will decrease the probability of tearing as it forces the GPU to render the frame as soon as possible so the frame will be ready to be presented at the VSync.
Flush GPU after PresentFlushing the GPU after VSync will decrease the probability of tearing as it forces the driver to actualize the Present as soon as possible.
Wait for flushesThis will cause the renderer to spin, waiting for the GPU flushes. This can be useful if the driver for some reason will ignore single flushes and will also enable the GPU time statistic.
Reset
Reset to default renderer settingsResets all above settings to the default.
Reset to optimal renderer settingsSets the settings to the recommended optimal settings:
Alternative VSync = On
Accurate VSync = On
VSync = On
Disable Desktop Composition = On
Flush GPU Before VSync = On
Flush GPU After Present = On
Flush GPU Wait = Off
The rest of the settings are left unchanged. It might therefore be good to reset to default settings before selecting optimal settings.
