The following videos contain a H264 stream with a 720*576 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio:
http://w17.easy-share.com/1700933443.html
http://w17.easy-share.com/1700933579.html

But when using the internal filters of MPC-HC the aspect ratio is not applied.
The videos are playing fine with the correct aspect ratio in other players like VLC and Mplayer though.

they have .avi containers. if you mux them into .mkv the aspect ratio will pe corect (didnt changed anything while muxing). so id doesnt affect every anamorphic video (anamorphic is correct in this case?)

Could Someone please help me! I have a laptop with a t8300 and a ati mobility radeon hd 2600 w/512mb of memory. I have a collection of 1080p .x264 movies in .mkv containers. I have tried so hard to get hardware acceleration to work, yet everytime i play a film i get 80% CPU Usage, does anyone know how I can get my graphics card to work, i'm really desperate at this point.

you have to follow the rules on http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/DXVASupport.html to get DXVA with MPC-HC to work. what OS do you use? can you provide us with a screenshot of MPC-HC's output settings from the options? what filters are used when you play a H264 file?

Nope, only one of the files is AVI, the other one is MPEG.

And still, they are both playing fine with the correct aspect ratio in other players.

my bad, your right. if i use the internal splitters the aspect ratio is wrong. if i use Haali then i get a wrong ratio with the .avi file. if i use internal splitters + CoreAVC i get wrong ratio with .mkv (the one i muxed).

I would love to read some kind of manual or documentation, but I can't find any?

How do I simply enable the OSD (just for simple things like pause, play, volume, etc)? and can I enable OSD while subtitles are enabled? (I need subtitles, I don't hear very well)

Thanks in advance.

It means choosing external filter while you ticked internal filter doesn't work. MPC decoder Filter works.

OK, I figured out the OSD and subtitles together.
Two more questions/issues ...

1) Can I change the graphics the OSD uses (i.e. play box, pause box, etc)? If so, where are they located?

2) I would read a manual or help file or man page if someone would point me to one.

No - OSD position, delay and message are fix(maybe later do setting for OSD).

Hi everyone , i see a bunch of anime watcher here , i've been using MPC for a while and i've enjoyed MPC HC for a few months now.

Everything is working correctly with DXVA on my NVIDIA 9800 GTX
on WIN XP SP3 , except the Bleach release by Dattebayo which is a H264 encode but within an AVI container.

The file sutter a lot with DXVA.
Am i the only one with that problem ? i have to disable DXVA each time i wanna see one of those episodes :/

When I play DVDs from my hard drive MPC's "Play ...Subtitles" option is greyed out, but subtitles for the same movie work just fine when using WinDVD. And subtitles DO work because I can load a .srt file and it works, but why would I want to do that when the subtitle is already there? VMR9 and "auto-load subtitles" are both checked. Any help would be appreciated.

With DVDs you should look in the Navigate menu. There you can find the audio/subtitle selection.

all seems ok with your settings, except one thing: "DirectVobSub": "Video decoder should be connected directly to the renderer. This means that no intermediate filters such as DirectVobSub or ffdshow can be inserted between decoder and video renderer.", so you should get rid of VobSub, either by blocking in MPC-HC in the external filters section, or setting VobSub to "do not load", or uninstalling VobSub. Then use the internal subtitles engine of MPC-HC.

When enabling the internal subtitle filter in MPC (options -> "autoload subs") then the external DirectVobSub filter will automatically get blocked ;)

If the time difference is constant, then you can use the subtitle delay function to correct that (until the synchronization problem is solved).

time difference is not constant
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1948031&group_id=170561&atid=854651

video file fps 23.976 + subtitles in fps format
format .avi - EVR and VMR7 - ok, VMR9 - synchronization lost (maybe mpc-hc recognizes video file as 25.000 fps?)
format .mkv - VMR7- ok, VMR9 and EVR synchronization lost

subtitles works good (vmr/evr) when they are in time format

when i add vsfilter.dll (v. 2.38) as external filter all subtitles works great

sorry for my english

That would be a severe waste of time since DVD subtitles work perfectly fine with MPC. They are controlled through the 'Navigate' menu.

I have a quick question about MPC-HC. I am using the latest revision of the player as well as the latest revision of RealPlayer. Is it possible to get MPC-HC to play Real's .ivr files recorded from the Internet? I have added the .ivr extension to the formats list in Options and set RealMedia files to use the RealPlayer architecture for playback. Either i get a "general error" message or the player crashes when I attempt to open them.

Problem is that option is greyed out (eventhough the same movie has subs in windvd automatically). I can load .srt or .sub files wit "File ...Load subtitles..." if I go through the trouble of trying to find the right one to download, but I shouldn't have to do extra like that.

A lot input devices like keyboards and remote controls send WM_APPCOMMAND instead of WM_KEYDOWN for certain keys/buttons, the UI implies there is WM_APPCOMMAND support but it's broke. I really wonder why this wasn't reported/fixed before.

Well, it works fine for me. I take the following simple steps.

1) Open VIDEO_TS.ifo
2) Navigate -> Subtitle language -> check "Enabled" (by default DVD subs are disabled in MPC)

Of course you can also select and enable subtitles through the options in the DVD menu structure that is present on most DVDs.

Yes i think i know:

These steps have to be done:

Demux VC1 (or h264/mpeg2) from a HD DVD (or BD) via TSMuxer
Demux ac3 with eac3to
Demux sup with evodemux(for HD DVD) or with TSMuxer(for BD)

Convert sup into srt with SupRead.

After all of those steps have been completed, you can remux to TS using created files via TSRemux.
Remove VS Filter or unregister it and remuxed file works under MPC-HC with its subtitle. (on DXVA mode)

(But don't forget it's embedded to video this time; so i think the best idea would be to leave the subtitle as seperately)

I have the same problem. We should probably post this to the bug tracker on sourceforge.

Bug is here also but I can tell you that at time of the it's first occurrence net search showed me that it's not MPC-HC exclusive.

Few standalone devices (like "popcorn hour") also suffers from the same bug so it may be something in a DTS stream encode.

Personally I don't expect this fixed soon so I'm using ac3filter just to bypass DTS to SPDIF and everything works OK.

Sorry to kick in here. I did not read the whole stuff but maybe this is DTS-HD and MPA Audio Decoder fails to find or extract DTS Core correctly? Same for example happens with Dolby TrueHD/MLP and AC3Filter. Many other AC3 decoders find the AC3 core within a TrueHD stream but AC3Filter does not...

When taking screenshots with all other renderers(Overlay doesn't support screenshot capture) except VMR9 Windowed/Renderless, anamorphic material screenshots are at the wrong aspect ratio and size (720x480). With VMR9 Renderless, you get correct aspect ratio and size (853x480). Is it possible to fix the the other renderers(VMR7 Windowed/Renderless, EVR Custom) so you get correct aspect ratio screenshots?
ffdshow's grab function is useless also, gives you 720x480 instead of 853x480.

BTW is MPC-HC supposed to be able to play DTS in a WAV file properly ?

Here is a sample of a DTS stream in a WAV file:

VLC can play this file but with MPC-HC and its internal filters I only get some kind of pink noise.

Hi i found out something interesting:

i played a h264 mkv movie with 1080p with 23,97FPS in mplayerc 675 with overlay mixer, vmr7 windowed/renderless and vmr9 windowed/renderless.
in overlay mixer and vmr7 everything worked fine (with dvxa), in vmr9 only every second frame was rendered (also with dvxa) and so the playback is really jerky.
When i tried vmr7/9 renderless mplayerc hangs up after a few seconds. Before that happens the playback is jerky like in vmr9 windowed.

in zoomplayer6 i tried the 673 standalone filters (matroska source, matroska splitter and mpc video decoder) with vmr7 (there is only one so i dont know wether it is windowed or not) and it happended the same like mplayerc 675 with vmr9 -> only every second frame was rendererd.
When i tried haali splitter instead of the mplayerc source and splitter everthing works fine in overlay mixer, vmr 7, vmr9 windowed, vmr9 windowless and vmr9 renderless. Only Haalirenderer and EVR for Vista does not work.

I've got a ATI 2600 with CCC 8.6 on WINXP32 (Net 3.5 installed) btw.
every filters and players in x86

Just for information.

another interesting thing:
this file works with dvxa in mplayerc 675:
Video 11.2mbps 1920x816 23.976 FPS High@L5.1 CABAC 5 Refframes V_Mpeg4/iso/avc
Audio 5.1 AC3 448kbps

this one does not work with dvxa (but it works with h264 ffmpeg) in mplayerc 675
Video 10.7mbps 1920x1040 23.976 FPS High@L5.1 CABAC 5 Refframes V_Mpeg4/iso/avc
Audio 5.1 DTS 768kbps
this one i'm also not able to play with zoomplayer6
Oh and in graphstudio i cannot connect the mpc video decoder directly to the renderer. Graphstudio always tries to insert a mpeg2 decoder???

When I try to play this file with MPC-HC I only get the audio. Any ideas why this file will not play in MPC-HC. BTW, I have FFDshow Tryout SVN 2035 and Haali 29/03/2008 installed.

BTW is MPC-HC supposed to be able to play DTS in a WAV file properly ?

Here is a sample of a DTS stream in a WAV file:
http://w14.easy-share.com/1700966739.html

VLC can play this file but with MPC-HC and its internal filters I only get some kind of pink noise.

Look here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1149854#post1149854 :search:

It's possible to add support for HD-DVD & Blu-ray (not just EVO / m2ts files) ? :thanks: :helpful:

enable xvid/mpeg4 decoding in MPC-HC->internal filters or, if it doesnt work, diasble it (in MPC-HC) and enable it in FFDShow

@ Mercury_22

if you use 2 monitors (or 1 monitor and 1 beamer or something) maybe you have to try another renderer.
vmr7 works normally for me.

I enabled Xvid/MPEG-4 in MPC-HC and it doesn't play. Then I disabled Xvid/MPEG-4 in MPC-HC and enabled libavcodec in ffdshow and it doesn't play. I also tried Xvid decoder within ffdshow and it doesn't play. Any more ideas?
