If I check off LFE in the audio properties (MPEG Audio) and have two channels with no subwoofer, does this mean my two channel setup gets the LFE channel as well? I'd prefer my speakers receive LFE channel because they go to 50Hz. Thanks
Also, I don't understand if AC3 Filter can be used for MPEG Audio, why does MPC use its own decoder with videos that have MP3 audio?
Sooo what does LFE do? :thanks:

Not good enough. It is reset each time the player is started. With options "open full screen" and "d3d full screen" then when the video is over, you just get a big black screen. My computer won't sleep, and the whole family thinks the computer is already off.
Please add it to the Player Options tab. :o

The information in Trac needs some fixing.
1) Bug reporting page: (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/wiki/Bugs_-_Reporting)
Wrong link for searching in existing bug reports. I suggest using this one:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/report/9
and this one
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/search
Please also add these links to the index page of Trac (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/). Its too difficult for newbies to find what they are looking for now.
C) There is no link to download development builds. Also, please start uploading development builds to SourceForge.
F) Add a note that a SourceForge account is required, and link to account creation and login page. Otherwise people will be scared away by the "access denied" errors that they will get.
The phpBB forum seems to be pretty much dead. Its useless that way. Maybe switch back on the standard embedded forum in SourceForge?

Re: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/67
Prebuffering subtitles using the internal subtitle renderer does not reduce CPU usage, however video portions with subtitles are less jumpy. i.e. with prebuffer off, on my Intel 4500MHD, the screen pauses for like a half-a-second before displaying subtitles (fine with my Geforce 9600M GT on the same computer), and with prebuffering enabled, the video is pretty much smooth. Animated subtitles are, however, quite broken if you have only 1 subpicture buffered, (with disable animation not selected only half of animated subs might appear).
In VSFilter, when prebuffering is enabled, I think it buffers pretty much all frames, and so CPU usage is higher, but subtitles are smoother if you have a powerful enough CPU. If the CPU is quite weak, there can be flickering of subtitles.
by Namaiki.
p.s. was that kind of a rant? D:
Also, I have a feeling that the internal subtitle renderer relies more on GPU power and VSFilter is all CPU powered.

And it probably never will. There are plenty of DXVA limitations posts and threads around that should explain all of this. You probably won't get DXVA with more than 9 for 720p. It's lower with 1080P and higher with 480P. In fact I think this was just discussed on the last page!

a bug(?)
on a file->properties->details dialog:
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1428x1068 (16:9) 23.98fps [Video]
Audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo 1536kbps [Audio]
why would all the players (MPCHC included) detect ALL AAC audio (inside mp4/mkv) as 1536 kbit whereas MediaInfo page on the very same dialog shows it to be some sane bitrate (245 kbit e.g.)? BTW 1536 is a dummy value for PCM 16bit uncompressed stereo wav...
and also ESC hotkey wouldn't close this 'properties' dialog if user selects that gray box on the Details page with detailed video/audio info (for 10 years as of now :p?))

Got it:
MPC's internal mp4/mkv splitter enabled - it's ok,
MPC's internal mp4/mkv splitter disabled (Haali is used) - 1536 kbit.
but internal splitters for avi/mp4/mkv are too dumb because they don't show as much (as Haali) info in "filters" menu and give no support for mkv linking / ordered chapters.

16th December 2009, 07:36
Well, 1536kbps is the bitrate of an uncompressed 16bit 48kHz stereo audio track, so if all your aac tracks are stereo that explains why you get that number. Of course that doesn't explain why you don't get the encoded bitrate of the file.

I have a problem with the "file"->"close" function. While indeed the file is closed and I can rename/move it the folder containing the file can not be modified until I exit MPC-HC.
I'd hazard a guess that that directory was made MPC-HC's working directory so you can't rename/delete it. I guess it should be enough to change the working directory to MPC-HC's installation directory when you close a file.

The bug is present for almost every file I've tested, but they are rather long (1.5-2 hours) so it's hard to upload them.
Also I can reproduce the bug only WITH ReClock. If ReClock (1.8.4.9 & 1.8.5.1a tested) is used then MPC-HC crashes very often after numerous jumps. Just press and hold a key assigned to "Jump forward (medium)" and a few second later MPC-HC crashes.
Without ReClock it seems to be OK.

What we need is a Symbols debug build so we can find out what is causing mpc-hc to do this illegal memory access.

I have Windows 7 and I need to activate EVR Custom Pre. if I want DXVA to work correctly in mpc-hc. However, I much prefer the look of the image when PS 2.0 is enabled, as 3D surfaces is disabled with this renderer. Is there a way to use PS with DXVA at the same time on Windows 7?
Thank you

However, I much prefer the look of the image when PS 2.0 is enabledThe image is actually the same? Unless you are talking about changing from Bilinear to one of the Bicubic resizers.
3D surfaces are disabled with EVR-Custom
They're not. I can still do the sphere thing + DXVA, unless that is something else.. :|

Eh? The selector is grayed out because EVR always uses 3D surfacing. So... the bicubic resizers work fine with EVR.
