It's the MJPEG filter which MPC has always had problems with - your video uses the MJPEG codec and has the same issues my camera videos did so I installed FFDSHOW and enabled only the MJPEG decoder and now the video is smooth as normal in MPC.
Of course i am using FFDshow. Simply system default/haali splitter + ffdshow - no problem, MPC-HC AVI splitter + ffdshow - slow motion.

Guys... like I wrote ar-jar (wonderful guy) using PMs:
Nvidia Forceware 197.13 recently became WHQL drivers and are recommended by Nvidia to all its users.
Both "Custom EVR" and "EVR Sync" have stuttering issues (reported here in this thread) w/ this version of the driver.
I believe this should be fixed ASAP, as more and more users experience the issue in the tech support forum I'm helping at.
In what type of files does that happen?
I have no stuttering or whatsoever with the newest drivers playing x264 files in a nvidia gt240 with evr sync.

AVIs and MKVs. Xvid and x264. SD and HD. Happens on seeking sometimes (not that hard to reproduce).
Many people reported it (here in this thread, on the Nvidia forums, on the tech support forum I surf at).
Khaaan!
2nd April 2010, 11:14
It only happened for me on files that were not using DXVA (so AVI files, MPG etc). I only noticed it recently as I only play HD files or movs via DXVA!
Dropping back to 196.21 has solved it though so that's a good thing I guess.

Are you using the auto-resolution changer in MPC?

Some did. The thing is... nobody's sure if it's a driver issue or a MPC-HC issue.
The fact remains, both these renderers did work w/ previous driver versions... but that still doesn't necessarily makes it a driver issue.
Looking the the Stats graph, one can clearly see MPC-HC is having difficulty timing the frames (see here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1383971#post1383971); look how the red lines are jumping above the green ones).
Regular (system-provided) EVR works fine, of course.
EDIT: btw, I'm pretty sure that ar-jar would find the cause pretty quickly (as this issue can easily be reproduced)... If anyone knows the EVR frame timing code- it's him. We can only hope he finds the free time to debug this issue.
I'll look at it over the long weekend. Unfortunately my development environment is still on the wonderfully well functioning XP platform so debugging might take some time.

The graph looks pretty nasty in my set-up too but I don't see any actual judder. The question is if this is an issue with the measurement or with the actual rendering. The graph moves smoothly from left to right here. Do you also skips or duplicated frames, i.e. uneven motion of the graph or of pans? -A
Edit: I restarted the computer having installed the new driver and after that everything worked great again (fortunately or unfortunately). I have not used the W7 computer a lot so I just now realized how well the windowed mode full-screen actually works. I have no tearing even with 5 ms sync offset, bicubic interpolation and a couple of shaders active. This seems too good to be true so I need to run a few more tests but right now (by luck or by design) it looks quite promising. My hardware is a four-core Intel CPU with a GeForce 7600 board (I stick to it because it is compatible with PowerStrip). The TV uses a 720p/50Hz resolution.
Anyway, this does not bode well for finding your problem unfortunately. I'll try to tweak resolutions, refresh rates etc to see if I can reproduce the failure.

My system:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750. 2GB DDR2-800Mhz.
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bits (all updates installed). Aero is on.
GeForce 8800GT. Forceware 197.13 WHQL.
24" LCD screen working at 60Hz. Resolution is 1920x1080.
Latest DirectX runtime installed.
MPC-HC 1.3.1774.0 (from XvidVideo.ru).
Settings changed in MPC-HC (all others are default):
- Resizer being Bicubic A=-0.75 (PS 2.0). I'm using EVR CP.
- All internal filters are off. I use Haali for MKVs, ffdshow for audio decoding, Win7's filters for H.264 (w/ DXVA), Xvid, and MPEG-2.
- Audio switcher is off.
- Subtitles max texture resolution is set to "Desktop".
I'm not sure if the issue is reproducible on XP. Might be a Win7-only issue.
I'm currently trying the identify any specific content (maybe fps?) that causes this issue to rise. Will post more info later.
EDIT: Alright, I've sent ar-jar a small (8MB) xvid-avi-25fps that causes this issue to happen when seeking the file (using EVR Sync w/ default settings).

I got your file thanks and I'm still investigating. I don't yet have all the external factors under control. Seems e.g. that when I change from 50Hz to 60Hz, Aero is turned off in my configuration. Also W7 recognizes fewer resolutions in my pj than did my old XP HTPC. My take on this is that the W7 drivers are not quite mature yet.
A question in the mean time: do you get the same behavior when running in a window that is substantially smaller than the desktop (but large enough to see the graph)? -A

I accidentally moved a variable into a loop, this doesn't matter normally but in this case it kept resetting it to 0 at the start of each loop.

I can't get DTS SPDIF to work. AC3 works fine. Does anyone else have this problem?
I'm on latest x64 build on a clean Win7 install.
Update: This is odd, I found a file with DTS that would play passthrough. All my other files I created with MKVToolnix and they won't play SPDIF.
Update2: Perhaps this is due to the higher bitrate 1Mbps DTS core data. I will try with other DTS bitrate streams.

I'm afraid I'm a bit time-strapped for the moment. My suggestion would be that you check out the code yourself (or ask the first passer-by with programming skills :)). It's really not all that complex and there are actually a few comments. The file is SyncRenderer.cpp.
Commercial filters usually aren't too crazy about debuggers so there is a console (debug) trace window that pops up if you add the directive GOTHTRACE to the C++ preprocessor definitions (of the mpc-hc project). You can print debug traces in release builds into that console window like this: _tprintf(_T("My number = %d\n", myNumber). -A

I tried it both with all native W7 filters and all native MPC filters and everything works fine here. I clicked on the search bar like a monkey to boot.
The timing code is in CSyncAP::RenderThread and CBaseAP::Paint. You need Visual Studio 2008 to build. Note that the time to the next vsync is *estimated* from the actual line that is drawn when entering the Paint method. It is not the *actual* vsync time. What can go wrong is basically that frames are not delivered in time from the mixer to be rendered (there is some kind of upstream problem that we probably can't do much about) or that the RenderThread fails to send them at the correct time to the Paint method. Off the top of my head... Let me know if you need help understanding the code. -A

Ok a bug with MPC-Home.. when trying to navigate jump when you got a filename like.. <filename> - 170.mkv it will fail to jump.. I can jump from any number up to 169 but when it hits 170 it fails every single time.. try to jump and nothing happens but choose like 169 and it jumps just fine. Seems to be some limit on file count because I can rename files similar in a smaller directory and jumping works fine their too.

Hello everybody, I am new to the forum :)
I am using the latest 1775 build from mpc-hc to view blu-ray playlists (mpls files) with the internal splitter and video decoders and I use ffdshow for audio. I have some questions
1) in order to open mpls files, is the internal splitter the only option? all others seem unable to render the file
2) I can't get for the life of me the dxva to work with vc-1. I think it's a problem of my video card, nvidia 9600 gt. If I want vc-1 acceleration, I must use the arcsoft video decoder, however this codec is outputting the video at 22 fps, which does not match with 24 hz of the tv, resulting in jerky playback. any other way I can get dxva on 9600 gt?
3) how do I connect the arcsoft audio decoder hd codec to the mpc internal splitter? is there a workaround? I don't want to use arcsoft demuxer as this will not let me change the audio track and won't open mpls playlists
I am trying to find an optimal solution to watch my bd from the disc without having to rip them on the hard drive. if I was able to do that, all my problems would have been already solved.
Looking forward for your inputs. Thanks and congrats for the excellent forum

As far as I know the series 8xxx and 9xxx from NVIDIA have limited support for VC1 decoding; only for H264 and Mpeg2. There seems to be an exception though ,a new 9500GT with a completly new chipset which aparently acts the same as the GTX series cards(VC1 decoding and sound over HDMI). For more details ask ranpha about that card.
Regarding ArcSoft , you can't use any of its filters/decoders out of the box. Only HD Pack 2.3 or 2.2 allows you to use only the ArcSoft video decoders but in that case you have to get rid of your ArcSoft player because in HD pack those filters come packed in another ArcSoft installer(how silly!)

I managed to fix the arcsoft video decoder vc-1 limitation, I had to set in the renderer settings "enable frame time correction" and I can now get 24 fps with dxva on vc-1. I am now trying to make the splitter of mpc hc connect with arcsoft audio decoder hd, it does but then it won't output any sound. The same problem for cyberlink audio decoder. anybody has any idea how to have arcsoft audio decoder hd connect with the filter chain without using arcsoft mpeg demuxer? thanks for any suggestion

nvidia 9600 gt. If I want vc-1 acceleration, I must use the arcsoft video decoder,
The GeForce 9600 GT only supports partial VC-1 acceleration.
wikipedia(cough): Partial acceleration means that VLD (bitstream) decoding is performed on the CPU, with the GPU only performing IDCT and motion compensation.
Anyways, if you are running Windows 7, try the Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder. It supports DXVA for H.264/AVC and MPEG-2, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did VC-1 as well. :p

Still, that IDCT mode helps lowering the cpu usage, enough for me to use it. Anyway, that problem was solved as I explained by simply allowing EVR to modify the frame rate (press C to toggle). now it is silky smooth on vc-1
I do not understand how to use arcsoft audio decoder, it connects fine with the mpc splitter but it doesn't output audio
reclock, on the other hand, shows information about the audio stream correctly which means it is receiving something but nothing comes out of the speakers

Nokia phones are used by nearly ((((( 40% ))))) of the world. Usually those phones, even the cheap ones, come equipped with a video camera.
When someone shot a video with one of these phones, they get a 3GP video.
Now what is the problem here?
The problem here is MPC-HC developers have no idea about the fact that those people (40% of the whole world), when they play their captured videos with MPC-HC, They WILL GET AUDIO DISCONTINUITY.
Why?
Because someone here thinks that adding some geek codec or feature used only by 0.0001% of the population is MORE important than fixing the AMR audio discontinuity found on all 3gp video created by Nokia phones.
Not only that. Instead of fixing that bug, they enabled AMR by default because MPC-HC developers think it is now stable!!!!
Stable.... even if (40%) of popularity can't play their videos without having sound issues???
MPC-HC developers need to rethink priority.
priority 1 = fix the (obvious) bugs affecting the largest portion of users.

build 1982 is behaving quite badly on my PC, coming from 1757, when i start some H264 MKV i have a very high kernel load, the video freezes but audio continues and CPU goes one core to 100% (with 60%~ kernel).
I have OSD setup to display for some frames at start. The CPU usage REMAINS even if i pause the video(goes to 50% dead center of one core, all kernel).
1757 behaves perfectly.(but not today, unless i disable the OST...., i get ~3890000mS of jitter and all dropped frames)
on a side note, i'm having a problem since.. forever that i have "dissapearing" subtitles after several days of usage(even weeks), all the sudden when i load a file i don't see the embedded subtitles anymore, *sometimes* changing to the internal matroska splitter helps, others don't(like today), i see the styles, i see the fonts, i see all enabled but no subtitles onm screen.
In previous version i saw the fonts but then clicking them i got an empty windows, like if mpc couldn't read the embedded fonts.

Well yes, thats how it currently works on Win7 but it doesn't mean its normal.
If you don't add the RAW video filter to MPC's external filter list, how's it supposed to load on video playback?
Because its registred in the system and should be loaded everywhere, where we have raw video. And there is no other filters that can be used instead.

Not entire directshow but only some selected formats. If I'm using windows' graph builder, filter is loaded fine. With MPC-HC's graph builder filter is not loaded. Thats why i'd like to know why exactly this happening. Bug, lack of feature, done on purpose for something etc. So I can fill bug report or try to find someone who can change that or something.
