Some parts of the pipeline should still be 10 bits without fullscreen mode. It might be that your drivers doesn't support 10 bit backbuffer in fullscreen mode (for flipping). I will look at making it work with some parts of the pipeline in 10 in fullscreen as well.Hi Beliyaal,

Can you explain which pats of your improvements currently work in VMR9 and/or XP and which are limited to EVR CP and/or Vista?

It seems to me that there is quite a but of improvement in the presentation that seems to apply to both renderers, but the code to avoid synchronised judder applies only to EVR CP, but it would be good to know for sure and it may well not be as simple as that!

ok so i would like to use the h.264 codec from mpc to play back live streams on my HTPC. sadly the standalone filters do not work with dvbviewer.

any chance this could be looked into? recorded files play back fine, just not the live streams

I have submitted some fixes to SVN. Check if they work in a SVN build later than or equal to 1089:
Bad render performance when coming back from other session / display settings changed / changing channel on TV / etc.

from a quick test it seems my reported problem is fixed (changing channel on TV / EDID handshake)

Thanks a lot Beliyaal, that was a quick one.

Now it's a pleasure to use your nice improvements!

MPC-HC doesn't output video (and isn't seekable) when the file playing has a height that isn't mod16 post r1056 (stopped working between r1050 and r1056). I'm assuming that r1052/r1053 is the culprit but I don't have a test build to find out. Running Windows XP SP1 (?), Radeon HD 4850, Catalyst 9.3. Happens with any renderer. 1920x1080 or 1920x818 streams didn't work properly while 1920x800, 1920x816 and 1280x528 did.

How about renaming it to "Disable 'Open disc' submenu"? Or "Disable checking DVD drives for discs"?

If i want to build it on my own, do i need both
MinGW GCC 4.2.4 x86_32
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1

or just one or the other? Did anybody already do a >r1096 build (not yet on xvid.ru)?

As promised here are the documentation for the new settings.
Accurate VSyncCan be used to disable accurate VSync. If accurate VSync is disabled CPU usage is slightly decreased, especially when alternative VSync is also disabled.

Alternative VSyncEnabling alternative VSync will bypass the default VSync built into D3D. This can often get rid of tearing issues and is the preferred mode of VSync if your hardware/drivers are compatible with it.
All of that post is good information, but I think you are so close to that project, you are forgetting that you need to define " Accurate VSync " and " Alternative VSync " and explain when and why it is needed. (And also, you need to specify how a user knows whether their hardware/drivers are compatible with it.)

Thanks!

Thanx, vmr9 renderless and h264 and vc-1 dxva is now working again! Compared to Beliyaalv25 it seems more stable. But still if one uses the cyberlink h264 decoder with DXVA i get no judder - if i use the inbuild dxva decoder the judder on certain scenes returns.

VMR9 (windowed), VMR9 Renderless, VMR7 Renderless not working with 1920x1080@60P video.

Greetings Casimir and Belilaay.

Tested these 1080@60P samples on XP3 with HD3650 AGP graphics. Only plays smoothly in VMR7 (windowed).

All renderers work in PotPlayer.

Appreciate if anyone can help. Many thanks and best regards.

Greetings Beliyaal.

1. The problems with renderers remain in build 1098. No problem in PotPlayer.

2. These 1920x1080@60P .mp4 clips clips still wouldn't play in the new builds, but play fine if remuxed to .m2ts file. Could it be a .mp4 splitter problem? There was no problem with build 1043 and beliyaal_25.

Many thanks and best regards.

DXVA with VMR9 should be fixed in next SVN build.

Thanks, that fixed my issue, but now the bottom pixels are stretched to make the height mod16. I thought this issue was fixed before, or does it only appear when using DXVA1?
Edit: I see, it's fixed when VMR9 Mixer Mode is on, but that causes the video to be very choppy. Also see its in the bug tracker. Oh well.

E-AC3 streams seem to crash MPC-HC (64-bit) upon seeking, and aren't played if you don't seek.

The Canon EOS 500D has recorded this QuickTime movie:

http://sharebee.com/df48e646

The video (H.264) works with MPC-HC (latest) - even DXVA is used, yay! But the audio is more problematic. The manual says it is linear PCM encoded.

I don't intend to to keep my videos with an uncompressed audio channel but it would be nice to have the feature to play back the "raw" videos, too.

parsifal
8th May 2009, 10:37
airwin, the audio stream is indeed PCM. Using mkvmerge GUI to remux your sample into a Matroska container results in a file with playable audio under MPC-HC:

The file association code in MPC is very messy and buggy. Two bugs that I would like to report:

BUG 1:
The Formats page contains of groups of file extensions. If file associations are existing for a subset of extensions for a group, then the "File(s) Explorer Context Menu" option does not work properly. It stays checked.

BUG 2:
Having two copies of MPC and trying to associate some file types with each of them results in a mess.

========================================

I have some suggestions for simplifying the file association handling, making it more reliable.

SUGGESTION 1:
Remove the column where users can choose between the DirectShow/RealMedia/QuickTime/Shockware frameworks.

Instead, add two options like this:
[x] Use RealMedia framework for these file types: [.rm .ra .ram]
[x] Use QuickTime framework for these file types: [.mov .3g2 .3gp2]

These options could be placed on a separate subpage, for example Player>Formats>Settings. Some other options from the formats page could perhaps be moved there as well, for example Autoplay and RTSP.

Shockwave should be used automatically for .swf files. I don't think an option is needed for that.
DirectShow is automatically used for all remaining file types.

SUGGESTION 2:
A copy of MPC should not remove file associations that do not belong to itself. So if a reg key "HKCR\mplayerc.XXX" points to a different copy, it should not touch it. Unless of course if a user has chosen to create a file association.

SUGGESTION 3:
Add a new command line switch "/removeall" which cleans up all MPC related stuff in the registry, including file associations.
This time it is allowed to remove file associations from other copies of MPC.
So it should remove all "HKCR\mplayerc.XXX" keys and references to it, from all file types that MPC knows about.
It should also remove the keys where MPC stores it settings, such as "HKCU\Software\Gabest\Media Player Classic".

SUGGESTION 4:
Get rid of the groups on the Formats page. This should simplify the implementation significantly. It also gives users more flexibility.
Instead list each file extension separately.
I propose making three lists, one for video, one for audio, and one for 'other' types.
Audio and video could be in the top left and top right quadrants.
Other in the bottom left quadrant. The remaining options (explorer context, etc.) in the bottom right quadrant.

Casimir666,
your MPC HC is a very fantastic player.

It is the first time that I post here, but, I have two problems.
The first problem is the same as Tetsuo55, Tery and Ikarad

This problem is related here
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2731336&group_id=170561&atid=854651

I also noticed that this problem occurs with evr custom but also with haali renderer. With vmr9 renderless or vmr7 renderless, this problem doesn't exist.

Is-it possible to fix it?

The second problem is related here
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2560026&group_id=170561&atid=854651

is-it possible to fix it?

Thank you very much
I notice that this problem appear since the start of support of evr custom (mpc homecinema 1.0.7.0 26/05/2007)

Hi guys. Has anyone tested mpc-hc with a GTX 295. I still cannot ever get DXVA to be used (not that I really want it) but still would be nice to see mpc-hc have that ability. Software like powerdvd has no problem using dxva but mpc-hc never does. I have tried outputting without any filters, also with ffdshow set to output yv12, nv12, nothing makes a difference.

I have been using vista 32 and windows 7 64bit and all latest nvidia drivers....

Can I provide information to help resolve this?

I'm new here and have just started playing around with mpc-hc, which works well except for a couple of problems.

Regarding the pan&scan settings I have made a custom preset to compensate for dvd overscan that works, the problem is when you quit and restart the program you have to apply the setting again.

Is there a way to have the program remember the last setting used or have it apply the setting at launch via a registry key or command line switch?

The other problem is I have a copy of pdvd 7.3 which will work except that if dxva is enabled dvd menu sub pictures and subtitles are not drawn.

I'm using 32bit vista business and mpc-hc 12908 with the custom evr renderer, any help is appreciated.

does fastforward and rewind work for you with mkv's (h264 1080p and DTS) ? For me not with MPC-HC 1.2.1101.0.

Is there a possibility to configure the Stop Button to work like in Zoomplayer? 1 push stops the file. 2 pushes disloads the file.
I just ask because i dont want to shutdown and reopen mplayerc.exe if i change vmr to overlay or something like that.

Stop and open the file again should allow you to change renderer. I just press Ctrl+O and Enter. It should work if you've got 'keep history of recently opened files' ticked under Options > Player.

I second this request - sometimes I like to delete the file after viewing and then watch another one, this way I can do that before I drag across the new one.

just wait for it to to make the second split and then crash the tool.

that way you will have 1 working split, and a second broken one (which you can delete)

Exactly the same problem. The problem is bicubic resizer. Bilinear is OK. b1101.

Found where bug appeared. Tried xvidvideo.ru builds, 1043 is the last good, 1050+ is affected. Seems like related to Beliyaal tweaks.

Hi, I'm having serious issues with MPC-HC and the 185.xx nVidia drivers. When using DXVA (h264, not MPEG2), tearing is all over the place. Makes everything unwatchable. Tried playing with all the settings (Alternate Vsync, cache flushing options, buffers) to no avail.

Platform is Vista SP1, latest DirectX updates, 185.xx nVidia drivers, EVR-CP on Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2 with E5200 and onboard 9400.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Update/Solved: Turned Aero on, which completely fixed the issue. Which is awkward, because everything used to work (better) with Aero off.

On things I've noticed is that with Aero off, MPC-HC continually found the wrong refresh-rate; 1-1.5Hz too low. It wasn't updated regularly, whereas with Aero on, it was.

Another issue is that in full screen playback (EVR-CP), as soon as the mouse is displayed, the frame-rate plummets.

On a positive note, 24Hz playback did work fine, whereas with previous nVidia drivers and MPC-HC's, the sound tended to go way out of sync. (It still isn't perfect, as the sounds seems to be played back 1ms per second faster, leading to one dropped frame every 40-41s).

Problem with Gabest's AVI splitter

Last time, I reported some AVI files can't be played correctly.
Some peoples said it's about I have no decoders.
This time, I confirm the peoblem is about Gabest's AVI splitter.

The pics attached, they are all played in MPC-HC.
Diffs. is only the splitter.

Exactly the same problem. The problem is bicubic resizer. Bilinear is OK. b1101.

Found where bug appeared. Tried xvidvideo.ru builds, 1043 is the last good, 1050+ is affected. Seems like related to Beliyaal tweaks.

*Edit: Only WinXP affected, Vista unaffected. The bug is related to "Disable desktop composition" option. When checked the bug appears. Since the feature is useless in WinXP it is better to disable it.
:goodpost:

I can confirm the "bad line" bug as well (Using WinXP + Bicubic
resizer). As it has been said, it does not appear with the bilinear
resizer.

I can't say anything about Vista, cause I'm using XP :D.
