What would help to solve this would be for the MPC-HC team to add an alternative black GUI to MPC-HC. Then we would only have one common project and we would pick all the releases at one place.
Underground78 set about breaking MPC-BE down into smaller pieces and committing them a few weeks ago but there's been nothing else to come through recently, the black GUI was what I was waiting for to show up too.
When will the rest of the code be ported?

I got an answer from Alexins: MPC-BE is now in private development.
From my understanding of MPC-BE:
* Latest official version is rev 0? (based on MPC-HC rev 4360) on xvidvideo.ru (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/media-player-classic-homecinema-x86-x64-1-6-2-4360.html) from 13th april 2012
* Latest source-code version is rev 72 on sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/p/mpcbe/code/72/tree/) from 27th april 2012
* Latest unofficial version is rev 126 on this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1572809#post1572809) from 3rd may 2012
* Latest private version is rev 263 according to alexins as of 13th may 2012
Again, this is not MPC-BE Thread so conversation about is offtopic.
We asked for source of mpc-be so we can merge some fixes and tweaks but they didn't give us that.

Yes, but you forgot to say that you have been asked to wait until the official release. With the publication of the official release, the source code will be available to all.

One single post above yours, there was the most informative answer of all times regarding MPC-BE : "wait until the official release".
Three posts above yours, there was all the links regarding MPC-BE.

Yes, but you forgot to say that you have been asked to wait until the official release. With the publication of the official release, the source code will be available to all.
And you forgot the GPL licence content when posting binaries of GPL derived work and not making source code available when requesting.
Latest unofficial version is rev 126 on this thread from 3rd may 2012
Source code for the rev 126 should be made available in some form (.zip for example) so that the GPL licence would not be violated. Code being open wont make it free - licence states how the code can be used.

Exactly, JEEB asked for the source of the binary posted on trac. https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/2219#comment:5 You all can read what the answer was.

Yes, Aleksoid1978 had "published" test files in this thread, but he did this not for any kind of distribution, but just for personal needs, to be sure that he fixed described problem well enough, and this fix he actually planned, later, give to MPC-HC team. Program modification only for personal needs without purpose to distribute it - not violate GPL3, and not obliges to provide the source code.

MPC-HC team members also use such practice, like publish some test build without source code/patch, which contains some changes (such examples can be found a lot on this tracker) but never knows will these changes be uploaded to svn trunk or just remain as 'test build which didn't pass "stability" test.'

Publishing something to the whole world - not matter if done just to test some error - is not something that falls into a personal needs category. As soon as someone has access to the specific binary version that same person is allowed to ask

Your neighbour doing something illegal / wrong won't make your own illegal / wrong doing any less illegal or does it? If someone requests the specific source code version (or patch on top of the known version) other team MPC-HC members (or any other GPL based open source project) are obligated to provide the specific version of source code.
Sources doesn't have to be published as soon as the binaries are published, but as soon as someone makes a request to the specific (published) version's binary source codes then the person or legal entity who has published the binary is obligated to provide the source codes in some form (it could be even printed form consisting few thousand A4 papers).
I have myself been contributing to the open source more than five years already and every single time I see something that violates the licensing (no matter GPL or some other lincense) and no matter when it is my own code or not makes me think twice if I really should continue to contribute anymore. Why should I spend my free time giving something free if other people wont respect the rules?
Open source works as long as all people benefiting from it are playing with the same rules. As soon as some persons start to ignore the licensing rules or have bad manners towards the rest of the community the downhill starts.

With MPC-HC x64 1.6.2.4360, the following MPEG1 video has issues with seeking. When you seek to a different position, the sound is fine but the picture is frozen. Seeking works fine with VLC:
http://directmirror.com/files/16WPSRUM
I want to give a followup to this issue related to libmpeg2 when using internal MPEG-1 Video filter as I found a new broken behaviour:
1-When seeking in Window-display, the audio works, the video freezes.
2-When seeking in Fullscreen-display + Video Paused, the player often resets to Window-display and at the start or end position of the video. Kind like a crash.

@XhmikosR
I ran the command.
build.bat Build x86 All Packages
Then I changed only two files (MainFrm.cpp, VolumeCtrl.cpp) and mpc-hc_x86 and Filters_x86 folders deleted.
And run this command again.
Building took place very long. About two months ago, it was much faster.
Bug?

I haven't noticed that, nothing has changed for me (except that the filters are now built by default while they weren't before). Sometimes doing a complete rebuild helps when the project files have been modified.

If I want thumbnails for all video files on my computer, including .mkv and .flv files, can MPC-HC do it? If not, what is advised?

@Amour
You could use Icaros (http://majorgeeks.com/Icaros_d7220.html). It is fast (sometimes faster than Windows on generating pictures thumbnails), has lots of extensions for generating, and it also provides details for explorer. It's not dependent on installed filters.

I'm WELL aware. I've been building it like that for a long time. What is new is the define to auto-include a header with everything set to 0. Makes it easier for those who want to build with no filters to build their own. They can stop asking me for mine now. :D LOL!

Yea, that's true. I'm not in a position to publish the ones I make. I do it so randomly that people wouldn't be thrilled with mine anyway. But they are tremendously helpful builds to have around since you KNOW you are using the external filters. :) Since I use LAV/madVR exclusively the no filter MPC-HC builds are awesome. My comment earlier was in reference to the fact that the includes were changed to make it a one line change to build with no filters as opposed to before having to go modify the header and change all the 1's to 0's. What I think would help people even further is to have a build option in the build scripts to build with no filters. Then they wouldn't even have to modify any files at all...just tell the build that you want one with no filters and be done with it. People who release nightly builds could automate releasing a no filter build in that case.

If you have Aero enabled try disabling VSync completely in MPC.
Additional you could get DPC Latency Checker and make sure everything is "Green".

Also make sure that you are using the latest LAVFilters version since a bug that prevented 60fps to be correctly detected was fixed not so long ago if I remember correctly.
