i have a question to a shader.
need i the shader "YV12 Chroma Upsampling"?
i have nvidia 8600gt hdmi and vista 32.
and another question is:
is it possible to make a HQRBG32 conversion, like ffdshow with dxva as decoder?

No. But if you have a nvidia card and you use the new coreavc decoder with CUDA support (it's also using the GPU for decoding but instead of DXVA uses CUDA), you can use ffdshow with it.

yes i know, i already test the new coreavc, but the cuda isn't so good as the software version of coreavc, at the moment, there are too many blocks during the movies with some mkv. so the mpc dxva is the better choice.

So, answering again to your question...
No, unless you can convince your graphics card drivers developers to include it in the drivers...

ok, that's what i thought, but i was not sure.
i compared ffdshow HQRGB32 to dxva RGB and ffdshow gives me much better colors.

graphics card drivers convert all video with height >= 720 with BT.709 matrix. If you are watching a resized dvd, the colors will be converted with the wrong matrix. If you want to use dxva, disable any resizing, and the colors should look better...

well, i need my htpc just for 720p mkv's and i don't resize any video. and i don't touch the video in any kind of way, i just use the nvidia edge enhancement @51% and i changed the video color at the nvidia driver to rgb.
and when i compare the two pics with ffdshow hqrgb32 and with dxva rgb, has ffdshow the better colors and i use the same matrix bt.709.

Media Player Classic Home Cinema v1.2.908 has this in the release history:
- Support for M2TS presentation graphics streams (only for EVR Custom and VMR9 Renderless)
I've tested it and it works, but what about support for MKV presentation graphics subtitles? Any ideia if this is being considered by the developers?
This would be very time-saving for us that rip Bluray subtitles to a SUP file having to OCR it, check it and then saving it on a SRT file to be muxed on to the MKV.

I might finally hit on something conrete which might enable the devs to fix the jumping frame, video corruption bug with VMR9 Renderless and DXVA on some ATI cards.
First the conditions of the problem
1) VMR9 Renderless regardless of options (surfacetype/vmr mixer/direct3d etc.)
2) Win XP SP3
3) High Resolution Display of playback window. Easiest to see at 1920x1080 fullscreen
4) DXVA playback of high bitrate VC1 or H264 titles
5) Catalyst 9.2 (and all previous versions) but lets stick to this version
6) Cards: mostly AGP ATI 2400/2600/2600 PRO but also some people with PCX 2x00 report this problem
7) PowerDVD 7 works with VMR9 renderless
8) Its a little dependent on the stream - some streams show little corruption. Some - mostly high bitrate stuff which uses the whole 16:9 resolution - show very high reproducable corruption
Let me first stress that Overlay and VMR7 pose no problem as DXVA works there without problems. Albeit you got no subtitle support
NEW FINDINGS (for both regular MPC HC and the beliyaal version):
1) With lock back buffers there is no tearing even without direct3d mode.
1a) If lockback buffers are enabled - one can stop the corruption completely by opening the rightclick context menu! As long as you do not close the menu the video works perfect.
2) Without Lock Back buffers there is tearing - regardless of any other option.
2a) If the "tear" is in the middle of the video there is NO corruption. As soon as you hit pause/play a couple of times to change the "tear" position (i have exact 47.952 powerstrip timings) and the "tear" is outside the visible video area the frame corruption jumping returns. Then after a while when the tear move back into the picture the corruption gets less and finally disappears.
SPECULATIVE CONCLUSIONS: I think the timing of the changing of video buffers in relation to vsync is the problem. Probably in the MPC HC Presenter code at some point there needs to be a small timing adjustment - thats why PowerDVD7 works and the right context menu makes the problem disappear. The corruption looks like DXVA is writing to the wrong video buffer. Maybe the presenter/vmr9 directx component switches buffers to early after a vsync or to late.
Additional Info about the beliyaal version:
1)Without lockback buffers i get tearing in every other possible combination of options. Even if i increase the vsync offset so the "tear" is moved out of the visible video area (even outside the screen area) the tear soon (1-3 seconds) returns inside the video area.
2)with lockback buffers the same behaviour as in the normal version described above is shown- also no matterr which combination of options i tried (and believe me i tried all of them - even restarting the player after every change)
If the root cause cannot be found or is not within MPC HC realm (maybe its a directx/ati driver thingie) than still the right context menu phenomenon gives me hope that a simple workaroung might be possible. Maybe some 1 pixel menu could be opened somewhere - ugly but it might work.....
If you need more info testing just let me know....
Casshern
25th February 2009, 02:06
Additional Note: The same behaviour is shown under EVR Custom Presenter (Win XP SP3). As soon as you turn on lock back buffers you get jumping frames and corruption. But as soon as you right click for the context menu everything is fine as long as the context menu is on screen.

Casshern

Im not sure if it is helpul, but i have similar behaviour. Win xp sp3 no dxva. When using evr custom or vmr renderless, rightclicking for menus gives straight lines (ctr+j) in beliyaal build. But after checking Lock back buffer, that doesnt work.
In regular version when rightclicked , the straight line is interrupted by jitter in regular interval, which looks smth like this: ___^^^^___^^^^___^^^^ :)

About "Private bytes" - http://blogs.technet.com/markrussinovich/archive/2008/11/17/3155406.aspx
Read the article carefully, this can be not a real leak ^)
Hey buddy, I just wanted to thank you for that lesson on private bytes
If you haven't been following, then you'll know that what I was reporting was indeed a memory leak and was found and fixed in rev 1002. It has been in the codebase since a very long time (even in v1.1.0.0) and casimir found the leak here after I reported it: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1252727#post1252727
I hope you learned something from all of this yourself: don't underestimate everyone and treat everyone like an idiot. I obviously knew what I was talking about and didn't need you to teach me about private bytes. :stupid:

I have started using mpc-hc as an external player for vista media center - media browser plugin.
I start mpc with the fullscreen command line option and it starts videos in fullscreen.
The problem is, that the mpc window goes into fullscreen AFTER the video begins to play. So if a video takes 2 seconds to begin, the mpc-hc window is visible in the centre of the screen, THEN after 2 seconds it goes into fullscreen mode.
Logically I think the fullscreen part of the code should be executed before the file is loaded. This would mean when mpc is used as an external player with the fullscreen option, the split second they click play on a movie, a full black screen is shown for the 0-3 seconds say that it takes for the movie to begin.
Does anyone agree?
clsid
26th February 2009, 22:53
Not entirely logical. For example if a file fails to play, it should not go fullscreen.
mark0077
26th February 2009, 23:10
To me the file failing or not is seperate from the fullscreen option. To me they are not, or at least should not be tied together or limit eachother. The implications of them being tied together are this perceived delay / visible window movement when every movie begins. My proposed solution would be to go to fullscreen immediately before any windowed components are drawn, and THEN if a file fails to play or any other problems, fallback to windowed mode where the error can be seen in the mpc status. To me this is the best of both worlds. :D I think this is a much better solution. It assumes nothing will go wrong (which is right in most cases) but still can handle problems by falling back to windowed on error.

Use minimal preset under "view" then reduce the window to a minimum and put it in the lower right corner or something! Don't use a logo:P
Remember to use "remember last window size" and "remember last window position" in the options under "player".
Or put it in anther monitor if you use two and force a specific monitor to go fullscreen in the options under "playback=>output"
@Aleksoid1978
It works fine here too.

Did some more testing. It fails only when only a few file extensions in a group are associated with MPC (grey checkbox). For example .wma and .asf, but not .wmp and .wm. Then it fails to remove the "Add to MPC playlist" registry key for .wma and .asf. No problem when all file extensions in a group as associated.

today i had finally the time to test the output levels in ffdshow and to compare to dxva.
and now i know why i had a difference between ffdshow and rgb.
if i set the color correction to nvidia control panel and output levels with 0-255 i get the same good colors with dxva, like ffdshow.

Same result for me with any combination of splitters and decoders, even the built-in ones.

Same issue with the Haruhi (http://rapidshare.com/files/113536801/Suzumiya_Haruhi_no_Yuuutsu_-_C4_-_Special_Ending_-__Hitsuji__e569a2b7_.mkv.html) video which is playing fine in MPC-HC v1.1.604 but not in recent builds.

Wrong AR happens if I use VMR9 and intermal mkv splitter. mpc rev1004 beliyaal patch 15.
Haali splitter gives correct AR.
haali's splitter overrides(=rewrites) the stream ar if there's a container ar, which the internal splitter doesnt do.
(At least haali's does it with h264, not sure about sp content)
It would be very nice if the internal splitter did that of course... But that's not as simple as it sounds at all.

I don't have Haali splitter but only Arcsoft Matroska splitter and the MPC-HC one.
The funny thing is that these videos are playing fine in VLC. So what are the correct splitters ? VLC and Haali or Arcsoft and MPC-HC ?
But if I use EVR CP with internal splitter I get the correct AR.
Yep it's working fine with EVR CP for me too.
However EVR CP is not working very well for me on Windows XP, lot of stuttering, low FPS sometimes and some slowness / acceleration of the video which is making it unusable so I'm stuck to VMR7/9 (all of that in software mode).

I'm having a problem with the 64-bit builds of the player, they crash whenever I try and play a .VOB file. These files have (obviously) Mpeg2 video, with 48KHz LPCM audio, and crashes occur even if I use external codecs/spliters/filters. I do not get this problem using the 32-bit version of the player.
To be honest, this could be caused by something else on my system, and I have tried uninstalling all players/codecs, as well as manually removing the registry entries. If I can provide any information which could narrow down the source of the crash, I'd be glad to.
OS is XP 64-bit.

I think it is because of the file itself. As for the issue itself I've tried it both on x86 and x64 builds and you cannot use the seek bar there. However on many occasions that happens with partially downloaded files (and WMV contrainer is not the only one affected).
