Can Media Player Classic Home Cinema save a file for a video so you can resume it as a precise point in the file? Like a bookmark per se? For instance I paused a movie today at the 1 hour and 10 minute mark and I'd like to just click the file and have it resume where I left off.

clsid2, v0lt, Aleksoid, XhmikosR, if any of you can find some time, could you please have a look at the following tickets?

- Standalone Shoutcast Source Filter doesn't work (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1562)
Although I address the Shoutcast Source Filter in the first place, in the end and in the first place it's about MPC-HC's parsing capabilities, or rather the lack of it. As a result MPC-HC fails to load DC-Bass Source Filter for mp3/aac/ogg radiostations. No problem with Zoom Player or Graphstudio. Serious issue if you ask me!

- MPC-HC can't load avs-file which calls forth FFDShow deinterlacer (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1896)
(On second thoughts, perhaps a more suitable title would be something like "MPC-HC fails to load Avisynth plugins when %path% is not present in *.avsi")

- Feature Request: TAK in extension list (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1906)
Shouldn't this be very simple to realize?

Hi,

I just bought a TV and I have some questions:

I have an HTPC (ATI HD4350) connected through HDMI.

In the ATI Control Center I can choose between different settings: YCbCr, RGB,... Wich would be the right one? I've read somewhere that ideally it should be YCbCr since HD content is encoded that way, but I'm not sure...

Also, in the TV settings I can choose between two colorspaces: Native and Auto. Wich is the right one?

The TV is a Samsung UE32D5500.

Thanks.

It would be nice if someone could commit PL translation. It fixes a few ugly typos and few untranslated strings.

Congrats with releasing the final.

The requirements for the BE mod were met two months ago, I'd like to see it included in the next release.

I have same problem with internet radios but not only with standalone filter, but also with mpc-hc with internal filters.
The only version that works correct is 1.5.3.3920.
With newer ones the sound plays but it shuttered.
With very new versions (1.6.1.4017) only plays the first 1-2 seconds and then it mutes, but it continues the time counter.

Also with LAV splitter it plays correct, but when i open a new page with browser, it stops a little or shuttered like it use all cpu power, until browser load the page. This happen with all versions of mpc-hc and LAV splitter.

this happen with mp3 internet radio . with aac internet radio i cannot play with either version 1.5.3.3920 or 1.6.1.4017, only with LAV splitter, but with the stopped or shuttered problem when open a web page

You're right. As far as the standalone filter goes, the same can be said for the internal filter.
The main problem is MPC-HC being incapable of properly parcing these files (*.pls, *.m3u pointing to SHOUT- and Icecast stations). But the other problem is the SHOUTcast Source filter. Although it only supports mp3 SHOUTcast streams, it even has trouble with some of them;
[playlist]
numberofentries=2
File1=http://88.190.224.199:8111
Title1=(#1 - 8/50) RADIO METAL ON: The Heavy - (Heavy, Power, Melodic Metal & Hard Rock)
Length1=-1
File2=http://46.4.61.209:8015
Title2=(#2 - 18/100) RADIO METAL ON: The Heavy - (Heavy, Power, Melodic Metal & Hard Rock)
Length1=-1
Version=2(open notepad, copy-paste, and save as *.pls)

This one will MPC-HC eventually play with the SHOUTcast Source filter. The following however fails;
http://66.90.91.59:80/hardradio.mp3(open notepad, copy-paste, and save as *.m3u)

You could try Zoom Player Home Free (http://www.inmatrix.com/download_relay/zoomplayer.com_free.html) together with the DC-Bass Source Filter (http://dsp-worx.de/?n=15) (also available through my DSFP) in the mean time. This combination can play every SHOUT- or Icecast stream you throw at it (mp3,aac(+),ogg).

Very excited to see new version released yesterday! And very depressed to see that ClearVideo (SB) h264 still looks horrible. :( I had hoped it would be a trivial fix but I suppose not.

Software decoding is fine except when I am on battery, doesn't run very smoothly.

@darkfalz79: For SB I would suggest using Intel QuickSync technology rather than DXVA. So use decoder made by egur http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=162442 or same decoder in LAV Filters http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191 (select hardware acceleration in settings)

mpc-hc has the exact same problem than every other video player in history ever: it doesn't have basic functions like DELETE or MOVE. These functions should have their own buttons in the full screen controls due to likely high frequency of use for anyone. DELETE would skip the current file and then delete it (or close the player then delete if a playlist is not loaded) and the MOVE would obviously also unload first and then open the standard folder selector.

I for one don't like to go through explorer to delete crap videos while trying to watch a playlist of new material. having mpc-hc be my only interface for fun AND maintenance is my wet dream.

PS: photo screensavers also need this feature so bad (who has time to specifically maintain their epic collections these days)

PPS: photo screensavers are so 90's, please add a command line switch for mpc-hc to run in "screensaver mode" (exit if user interacts).

Please let me know what you think?

I have issues playing a downloaded ASF / WMV stream with MPC-HC 1.6.1.4030 (Alexins' build, MSVC 2010 SP1).

I used VLC 1.1.11 to capture a stream from the NDR MediaThek (http://daserste.ndr.de/guentherjauch/guentherjauch161.html) (took me a while to learn that I have to set up the stream grabber to use the ASF container to save anything useful). The downloaded file can be played well in ffplay from ffmpeg by HawkEye (Zeranoe), mplayer2 by lachs0r, and even MS WMP 11 (without audio, though?).

MPC-HC instead displays only stills, whereever I put the seek bar. The playback doesn't advance.

The Tweaks option whether to use the WM ASF reader has no effect, the WM ASF reader is used anyway.

Well, the HQ video is ~800 MB.

I described to you how to grab it yourself; but I'll see if the LQ video shows the same issue, when I have time...

clsid

You can cut a smaller sample with DGSplit.

Try disabling VSync. That sometimes causes problems with WMV.

LigH
3rd February 2012, 00:32
The disadvantage of a cut ASF file is that you can't seek at all anymore. MPC-HC is using the MS "WM ASF Reader", which the Tweaks dialog warns about.

But here are 20 MB (http://www.ligh.de/tmp/TV-20120129-2255-0101_split.wm.hq_0.asf).

I am not certain where to disable VSync exactly; the only place I found in the Nvidia Control Center was in the 3D Settings.
__

P.S.:

Funny - the whole LQ clip (mms://ndr.wmod.llnwd.net/a3715/d1/msmedia/2012/0129/TV-20120129-2255-0101.wm.lo.wmv) has only ~22 MB (http://www.ligh.de/tmp/TV-20120129-2255-0101_split.wm.lo.asf) (for one hour of playing time!) - and it plays well.

A ~20 MB copy (http://www.ligh.de/tmp/TV-20120129-2255-0101_split.wm.hi.copy.asf) from the MQ clip (mms://ndr.wmod.llnwd.net/a3715/d1/msmedia/2012/0129/TV-20120129-2255-0101.wm.hi.wmv) (while being written) plays fine too.

Only the HQ clip (mms://ndr.wmod.llnwd.net/a3715/d1/msmedia/2012/0129/TV-20120129-2255-0101.wm.hq.wmv) gets stuck. And that even though I let the DMO decoder work and pass through ffdshow. Possibly interesting: The ffdshow Audio tray icon does not appear, so there is no raw audio passing through. That matches the issue that the MS WMP11 doesn't play audio either, even though downloading codecs is active. BTW, VLC 1.1.11 plays it as well as the CLI players mentioned above, with audio.

Everything happens on a german Windows XP SP3 Pro.

VSync option can be found in the renderer settings in MPC menu.

Downloaded streams often have crappy seeking. You can fix that with this:

Might also help with the other problems.

I could as well try Machete 3.8 to cut WMV. It should support it, and hopefully rebuild an index for the cut piece. But because MS WMP 11 with DMO decoders doesn't play audio either, I believe this file has specific issues.

Aha ... Machete complains about a corrupt file:

I streamed it a second time, that seemed to be slightly incomplete, Machete didn't open that at all.

I passed the first stream I captured through the "Windows Media File Editor" (Save As and Index). This result doesn't play in MPC-HC either, and WMP 11 plays it without audio too. But its Properties dialog reports Windows Media Audio v2 (7, 8, 9).

Well, ffmpeg based players like VLC play it anyway.

Help I have a very serious problem with subtitles in Media Player Classic. The Anime I watch has alot of italics in their lines and after watching a few episodes the lines with italics will quit displaying unless I switch to default style but than text for signs and such that use .ass fansubs will not display. It is only happening in Media Player Classic I can load up Vlan Player and all fonts work perfectly. I am using Community Code Pack in Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and this problem is driving me crazy because I have to keep rebooting my computer to get the italic subs to work again.

The player can play x264 RGB/I444 10bit videos well, except of that it doesn't output the right CSP, it seems (I guess it always outputs YV12/I420?).
It would be really a very cool thing if could also output RGB/I444 like e.g. LAV.

Are you using the version of MPC-HC that is bundled with CCCP or a different version that you have downloaded from the MPC-HC website? Could you please also tell me what build number of MPC-HC you are using and supply a .ass script that can be used to reproduce the issue. It would also be helpful if you could open the affected video in MPC-HC and tell me what items are listed in the menu: Play-> Filters.

Thank you devs making RealMedia libavcodec decoding available in both MPC-HC internal and external decoder.
Now I can play RMVB files without RealPlayer *or* Real Alternative installed. :)

I just tested some samples with MPC-HC r4034, the RV30 samples are totally broken, RV10/RV20 samples won't play, RV40 samples don't play smoothly.
And RealAudio decoders (ATRAC, SIPR, COOK, 14_4, 28_8) need to be enabled.

DirectSound
Enhanced Video Render (Custom Present)
FFDShow Audio Decoder
LAV Video Decoder
Haali Media Source

I was using the one with CCCP and just tried the 1.6.0.4014 and both do the same thing. I have tried changing the video renderer from EVR Custom Present to one of the others but that did not affect it either.

Files in the mkv for the Anime Zero no Tsukaima F subbed by Commie (as it's freely available for download on Animesuki it's not licensed).

Test - http://aleksoid.tosei.ru/Test/mpc-hc.Real_test.7z

But - can't do decode with Real .dll
Splitter can split video compatible for RealVideo .dll or compatible for ffmpeg decoder.

Can't do compatible both at the same time.

Yeah it does better. But rv40_weighted_mc.rmvb sample still doesn't played smoothly, and COOK, SIPR and ATRC audio decoder is still not present internally. (Especially COOK, which is widely used in RV30 clips)

For the Real DLL compatibility issue, IMO let Splitter prefer DLL-compatible format if DLL is usable.

Add support Real Audio - later.

About RV30/RV40 timestamp issue(which makes RV40 (and RV30) clips won't be played smoothly), they are parsed by rv34_parser.c in ffmpeg/libav now. I noticed that there is no such file in mpc-hc tree.

This parsing has to be done in the source filter, and the source doesn't use ffmpeg/libav in MPC-HC.

but from the changeset ( http://mpc-hc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mpc-hc?view=revision&revision=4033 ), the related change is h1623 ( http://mpc-hc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mpc-hc/trunk/src/filters/transform/MPCVideoDec/MPCVideoDecFilter.cpp?r1=4033&r2=4032&pathrev=4033#h1623 ), which seems to be too simple when comparing with ffmpeg/libav rv34 parser ( http://git.1f0.de/gitweb?p=ffmpeg.git;a=blob;f=libavcodec/rv34_parser.c;h=9672f261826419e26195acde205cff0eb61437c9;hb=HEAD#l45 )?
Or does the change not being committed in that revision?

The player can play x264 RGB/I444 10bit videos well, except of that it doesn't output the right CSP, it seems (I guess it always outputs YV12/I420?).
It would be really a very cool thing if could also output RGB/I444 like e.g. LAV.

Yes, the internal video decoder is like that... But for that purpose, you may try the BE Mod version, its internal decoder has many more options (it's also available as a standalone filter).

In this regard I'd like to report a bug related to this decoder, although this might not be the right place to do that.
Long story short - when forcing RGB output, only half of the screen is displayed with the desired levels. For example, when playing 10bit H.264 video (which in my case is full range), and I set the input and output levels correctly, only the top half of the image is displayed as it should :). This occurs with both EVR and madVR.

But with 8bit videos it's the other way around - they are displayed as full range by default, so for TV range videos, that would be problematic (again, only the top half of the image is displayed as desired). This problem occurs only with madVR, with EVR it's OK.
http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/3785/bug8b.th.png (http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/3785/bug8b.png)

Both examples are with 4:4:4 samples, but the situation is the same with 4:2:0 ones.

Is there a way to choose madVR as renderer without having it to register itself (making a portable version)?

SamuriHL

Depends entirely on the player you use. J River MC17 has a private copy of madVR that it uses that isn't registered. I think with MPC-HC there's a way to load it in the external filters but that seems like it'd cause some problems. (Just theorizing...I've never tried it myself).

Try this - http://aleksoid.tosei.ru/Test/mpc-hc.RV_test_smooth_playback.7z

try to make smooth playback RV30/40 video.
