got the problem that my MPC-HC remains in the foreground all the time, even in window mode. to access other windows, I need to minimize mpc first each time which is very annoying. it hasnt done that before I reinstalled my windows. (cant tell whether this is due to mpc-hc or maybe because of madvr or something else, dunno)

Because you told it to be always on top. Turn that feature off. Check the View menu.

Check how it works in BE Mod r.4055. (http://www.xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/media-player-classic-homecinema-x86-x64-1-6-1-4055.html)

Hello,
Thank you for the response.
I tried both 4055 and 4069 revisions and unfortunately the problem is only partially fixed. 8-bit video is OK now with madVR, but for some reason the decoder doesn't output RGB with EVR (both CP and Sync) at all, it uses NV12. There's no change with 10-bit video though.
I'm attaching one of the short test samples (4:4:4 10-bit) for your convenience.
Thanks

Hi,

I have a problem with 1.6.0.4014. It seems like the internal MKV splitter doesn't like files that are cleaned with mkclean (http://www.matroska.org/downloads/mkclean.html). Opening such cleaned files takes a very long time, especially for larger files or when using an external USB drive. It seems like MPC is seeking through the whole file before it starts playback (the drive is under full usage during that time).
Disabling the internal MKV splitter and using LAV splitter solves the problem.

I'd upload a sample, but since this issue can only be noticed with large files, the uploading would take forever with 0,5 MBit upload bandwith :(
But it should be easy to reproduce with a file created by mkclean, all files I tested were affected.

PS: The links in the first post, that should lead to places where bugs or new features can be reported, just lead to "Error - The Tracker has been disabled for this group".

Try this - http://aleksoid.tosei.ru/Test/mpc-hc.mkv_test.7z

Actually movies are encoded at 23.97600fps or 1/1.001 exactly? what number is in the header to played at?

Technically its 24/1.001, however the timestamps only have a precision to some degree, so the difference is probably somewhat irrelevant.

@Ronin-7
mpc-hc.exe /reset

I had a similar problem when Windows is blocking the sound in the player (I tested the code). Here is another copy of the player (running from another folder) worked. After restarting Windows, the problem disappears.

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work I'm afraid, the good news is that I managed to fix it by going on a rampage searching the registry for "mpc-hc" and deleting every found entry.

After all that and installing MPC-HC again the audio is now working properly.

But the number in the header to set the video to be played at is 24/1.001 right?

Is there any app to track the exactly current fps the movie is being played at? just like the madVR shows with the exactly refresh rate on the display?

The d3d9 renderer doesn't affect the GPU it selects for DXVA automatically.

And here another one:

I noticed something weird when playing ogg-files (Vorbis audio of any kind!) with MPC-HC + LAV Splitter.
- Upon opening the Vorbis audio file there sometimes isn't audio for the first couple of seconds (which can take almost 10sec sometimes).
- Looping ALWAYS goes wrong.
    1. When playback is repeated, during the first reiteration there's no audio at all for the whole length of the file, but the seekbar-slider (how do you call it?) is moving normal.
    2. When the seekbar-slider is at the end, it stops, but playback is repeated WITH audio. Another reiteration.
    3. The next reiteration the seekbar-slider is moving normal again, but there again is no audio...etc, etc, etc.
- This only applies to MPC-HC + LAV Splitter (+ whatever Vorbis audio decoder). MPC-HC + internal OGG Splitter, or Zoom Player + LAV Splitter doesn't have this issue.

Guys, from time to time over the past few months, with many mpc-hc builds, if I open a file with mpc-hc, when mpc-hc is already running, the already running mpc-hc process seems to stop video playback but simply hang.

Process Explorer shows two mpc-hcs running then. The one thats running, I have taken a screenshot of the still open threads. Is there something else i can do to isolate what exactly its hung at, or waiting for?

The threads that are still open include ReClock, madvr related dlls, ntdll.dll, quartz.dll, mswsock.dll

Running the 32bit version in Windows 7.

Can anyone tell me why AVS scripts can't be played by MPC-HC? I'm using Avisynth 2.6, could that be a reason?

Reino

No problem here with Avisynth 2.6.0 on WinXP. By looking at your screenshot I take it you're on Win7? Does Win7 have the "AVI/WAV File Source" DirectShow filter?
Although the LAV Splitter claims to support "AVS format" (which I assume means Avisynth), so far the "AVI/WAV File Source" filter is the only one capable of parsing Avisynth scripts.

For nevcairiel: in GraphStudioNext LAV Splitter Source fails in opening avs-files. Opening them with "File Source (Async.)" and then connecting to LAV Splitter results in: "xvidcore.dll not found", and after that a GraphStudioNext-error "VFW_E_CANNOT_CONNECT (0x80040217) No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection."

nevcairiel
17th February 2012, 19:16
AVS is not AviSynth.
http://wiki.multimedia.cx/index.php?title=AVS

LAV Splitter does not support AviSynth, and does not try to.

Perhaps you could rename "AVS format" to "Chinese AVS format" then, just like FFDShow, to avoid confusion.

Chinese AVS is yet another format. Read the wiki page carefully. :)
AVS is a game format from the 90s.

The one you mean is called "raw Chinese AVS video" (its actually a video codec, not a file format)

I should really read more than 1 line on uninteresting websites
Perhaps something like "AVS (FMV) format" would be better then.

While kypec doesn't use FFDShow I believe, for people who do, the easiest way to get a free YV12 decoder for AVI/Avisynth is to change the merit of FFDShow's Raw Video Decoder to 00400000 with software like DirectShow Filter Manager (http://www.softella.com/dsfm/index.en.htm).
People who don't use FFDShow can use the Helix Codecs indeed.

What Real Media Splitter is used?

Should be LAV.
But before I update it to newer MPCVideoDec.ax it goes well.
Doesn't crash with LAV Splitter + LAV Video.

In MPC work fine with internal and LAV splitter. Test on latest SVN version.

forgot to mention: MPCVideoDec.ax access violation when connecting to Null Renderer with that sample, it works with other renderer.

Is there any (free or commercial) mvc decoder to work with mpc-hc for "3d-Bluray" ripped video streams?

There is not.
Not to mention that a decoder alone wouldn't be enough, you also need a renderer that can render 3D signals, which also doesn't exist yet.

For performance testing you can use Haali's timeCodec.exe

Yeah.
I it will be nice to fix that as you can't control users playing with such connection. Aborting connection will be far better than crashing. ;-)

Aborting connection is stupid. You'll probably get the same crash if you add ffdshow as post-processor after the MPC Video Decoder, it behaves somewhat similar to the null renderer.

PS:
People still use timeCodec? Its a rather limited tool. GraphStudio(Next) is much better for benchmarking. :)
