Looks very much like a buffer that is twice the intended size has been allocated. Does this only happen with the custom renderers (VMR renderless, EVR custom and Sync Renderer)? The others are ok?
I shall look into this when I get the opportunity. Did somebody have a sample with which I can repeat the behavior?
-Arto
Funny thing is that while others get this when using the EVR like renderers I only get it when using VMR 7 renderless or Haali. All other renderers (can't test madVR) including EVR, EVR Custom and Sync work fine for me. And it only occurs when using the internal decoders.

Is there a way to get Purevideo HD (dxva acceleration) working in MPC-HC for DVDs? Not blu-ray/hd-dvd
Anyone? I used to use Purevideo + MPC-HC when the decoder was a software installation. Getting DXVA to work was as easy as using VMR9.

Yeah, it seems to work fine here too with the renderers you mention. Does anyone have a sample that makes EVR and Sync behave in the same way? I don't want to spend too much time on the old renderers, sorry. -A

Hi,
I just did some tests with the new feature which changes the refresh rate in fullscreen mode depending on the framerate of the video. I explicitly appreciate this new feature since it is no longer neccesary to manually adjust the fps of the display before starting the playback of a movie :thanks:
But: If the playback starts in a window and is switched to fullscreen by pressing CTRL-Enter, the feature works, while it is not perfect yet. But if I am using the D3D mode for fullscreen playback to avoid tearing, the feature seems not to work ( yet ) ?
I am using Win XP SP3, vmr9 and a 9600GT with the latest drivers.
Later, if the feature works also in D3D mode, I would like to suggest the possibilty to change the outmode of the monitor not only depending on the framerate of the source video, rather then also to check if the video is interlaced or progressive before making the decision which output mode should be used. If it is possible, my desire would be, that the user can select which output mode should be used for each possible size, framerate and frametype of the video material on a per display basis.

I'm not sure about the Purevideo label anymore but I use the NVidia MPEG2 decoder to decode my DVDs (I guess that's the one you refer to). I just disable mpeg2 for internal ("transform") filters and add the NV decoder as an external filter and set it to "preferred". That way it kicks in for DVDs. -A

What sync option do you use? What goes wrong?
You do need to adjust the refresh rate manually, the sync options don't fix that. The rates in fact need to be very close for the sync to kick in. Read more about it on my blog (http://www.ostrogothia.com/).
The "sync display to video" option will not work with your card for sure as it is not supported by Powerstrip. The other two should work in all display modes including D3D fullscreen ("exclusive mode") if you haven't stumbled upon a bug. -A

Ah before I get ahead of myself, I'm running into the infamous no DVI+NVIDIA+Viewsonic issue (also occurred on Dell monitors and especially my Viewsonic VX2025WM), so troubleshooting that. I'll just reinstall the Purevideo decoder like before if I have to return the GT240. Thanks

i kdon't now. i have windows since +/-3 months (i'm linux user). I therefore used the program since I installed it.
I can not prove earlier, that if the pc is still hanging my work breaks
I could fix it by returning to play with the option "recent files" or by rerunning the audio / video from the browser ... but this is a fad.

ar-jar,
I don't mean the finetuning done with the help of your renderer, which I afaik can't use anyway on Windows XP with VMR9.
What I have tested is the feature available here:
view / options / playback, check the "change fullscreeen resolution" checkbox and then select either "1920 x 1080 32bpp AUTO 23.97@24, 25.00@25, 29.97@30" or "1920 x 1080 32bpp AUTO 23.97@24, 25.00@50, 29.97@60"
This will / should change the refresh rate and resolution the vga card outputs to the fullscreen monitor to match the fps for the video which is played back.

Haali Splitter does not loads if I set it merit in Windows to 00400000 or less.

Any chance of FPS1 decoding? Should be easy to implement considering ffmpeg can. Would be really nice to ditch AVI Decompressor, Color Space Converter, and Video renderer to get Fraps videos played perfectly with EVR without going through any hoops.

you should uninstall the ati drivers, run driversweeper and then reinstall 9.12 hotfix
.
Also make sure you have installed the DirectX redist and are using evr or evr-cp
Ready to cry.
I did that, and it's still a green screen (though I could swear it's a darker green).
I notice in dxdiag it says DXVA HD: Not Supported--is this just a bad signature from the driver?
And I _should_ have installed AVIVO right?
Here's something funny--when I open an H.264 mp4 at level 3.1 it's a lighter green than when I open an mkv at level 4.1
Screenshot attached fwiw. Using build 1489.
Anything I can do or check in DXVA Checker or CCC?

I cannot for the life of me get H 264 DXVA to work anymore. It worked like once and I don't know what happened.
I am running Windows 7 x64, and my GPU is an ATI HD 4350 (mfg by asus)
XVID plays ok but in both MPC-HC (now running 1.3.1503.0) and Boxee (only with hardware acceleration checked) I get a green screen for all my videos, though subtitles and audio play.
I'm running Catalyst 9.12 with the hotfix. DXVA Checker 2.2.0.0 shows nothing available under video acceleration settings.
Can anyone help? Mercury_22, I see you have a similar setup (at least with a different ATI card).
NOTE: I can edit/change settings with DXVA Checker 2.0.2.1 and disable H264 that way.
Try this http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/wiki/Troubleshooting_guidelines then report back
Also is this happening ONLY with MPC ?
Do you have all the drivers updated (not just the Graphic card driver) ?

I found a reproducable bug in mpc-hc. If a file is being loaded, when the display refresh rate is changed, mpc-hc just frezes up.
I tried to reproduce because I was noticing automatic display refesh rate facility with vbs script + reclock, would work from time to time. I can reproduce now without reclock by setting up a new refersh to change to, double clicking a file to load in mpc-hc, and then hitting apply on the new refresh rate.
mpc-hc gets in a twist.
I can't reproduce with vmr, only evr-cp and syncrenderer, so I assume they havn't got unbreakable code in this area ;) Any coders know how to fix?

Last time I checked MPC HC's video decoder didn't support decoding MPEG2 via DXVA - so how did you ever manage to use DXVA for MPEG2, and why? Decoding DVDs via the CPU needs little enough CPU as it is...

You'll find that the mouse cursor was over the same option in both images, but with DXVA the DVD menu cursor didn't show - so if you happen to use a remote instead of the mouse you're screwed...

Why doesn't evr-cp attempt to get audio / video sync closer. Playing 23.976 content at 23.976 hz, the sync offset can settle at anywhere between 10ms and 40ms, and the graph reflects this.
If I enable vsync in reclock, the sync gets closer and closer, and the moment it hits perfection, it blips back up to between 10ms and 40ms.
Can this be fixed with configuration of some settings or is it just the way it works at the moment? I am finding it hard to setup audio delays for my speakers because of this variance in synchronization.

I'm looking at an issue with the DirectX device used in EVR and VMR9 custom renderers and a possible solutions for this issue. One solution would entail disabling the "Use worker thread to construct the filter graph" option. My question is: how useful is this option? In what scenarios? On my fast computer I really don't notice much difference from a user point of view. The graph builds fairly instantaneously. But it might matter on slower computers? -A

Well I'm using windows 7 64 bit with aero enabled. Screnn refresh exactly matches video rate at 23.976 and graph is perfectly flat. It's just that the audio and video lines in the graph ate a distance apart
with aero enabled can't the renderers figure out what the extra one refresh delay from aero will mean in terms of video delay and compensate for it maybe by adding the same audio delay to get Audi and video lines closer together.

Fired up the latest SVN to see if it was any better for BR playback. It handled my Terminator Salvation BR better than the latest stable.
Better because it picked out the longest playlist stream and loaded it up, where as the latest stable just played one piece of the movie.
Annoying thing with it though is that it picks out a behind the scenes thing instead of the movie, so I had to find the correct playlist file.
Keep up the good work!
