Hi everyone
I have been searching the forums for some hours now and still have some questions (And please don't answer the questions with http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/wiki/New_Renderer_Settings , I read this more than one time ;) )
1. - What happens if I enable time correction? Will I have regressions with files that don't need it or is it only a matter of performance? I have one or two files that show "Corrected Frame Time: Yes" but I don't want to check every file, if it's necessary. So can I keep it enabled without problems? (I don't care if the CPU is at 41% or 44%.)
- What does Time Correction do exactly? What time is corrected? Why is it corrected?
2. What "EVR Buffer"-size should I take? What are the advantages and disadvantages of small/big values and why have them these pros/cons?
3. What's that "GPU Flush"-thing? I know what it is for (reduzing tearing etc.) but I would like to understand the mechanic behind these switches. Does it flush the rendering pipeline after finishing a frame oder flush the buffers before reusing them (I read something about backbuffer and frontbuffer, are these the same as the buffers set by the "EVR Buffers" options? Are there several backbuffers and one frontbuffer the screen is reading from or am I already too confused?) or or or...
This would help me to understand the "Wait for flushes" option better.
I hope my questions are not too special. And it would be great if I got only answers that have their origins in the source code because I need some technical knowledge to come to my own conclusions. :D
Thanks
P.S.: I'm sorry if my questions are unclear or I missed something on the forums since english isn't my mother tongue.
P.P.S.: Finally, after 5 days of waiting. :D

DSUtil now use new VirtualDub libraries (SSE2 deinterlacing for MPEG2 decoder);
AudioSwitcher rare memory corruption fixed;
Added new ELA deinterlacing to MPEG2 codec;
First corrupted frame with deintrlacing fixed with MPEG2 codec;
MPEG2 setting check box fixed;
fixed standalone filters compilation broken after r1907 (vsfilter is still broken);
more compilation fixes;
disabled automatic filter registration after compilation for "Release" builds;
AvgLines function in VSFilter fixed and moved to filter project;

updated portuguese translation of setup;
update Korean translation;
vsfilter x64 compilation fix;
Updated Bento4 to version 1.2.3-387;
Refactored Scale2x.cpp.
would be sweet if the VP8 decoder, and a WebM splitter was built into mpc-hc, i use 64-bit build so i cant decode vp8 with mpc-hc atm, it plays the webm file with vorbis but not vp8
other than that, keep up the great work

Finally I was able to work out my issue with my jaggies, and pretty poor image for video. Check back in last page for my pics that I put down for it.
I was looking at Haali renderer OSD stats to see that my 1080p images were showing it scaled to a lower resolution. I asked on the Haali thread, and was told it was a display issue and to ignore it (and to go find the post in AVSforum, which I could not locate). I decided to ignore what was said, because my other PCs were showing all correct scaling info. Then it hit me as to what I am doing different on my HTPC - Font sizes. I change the DPI on my fonts to around 150 DPI to see text better on my 40" Bravia. While it made navigating Explorer easier, it was scaling my video to close to half resolution! It was suggested that one of my screenshots was a bit blurry, now watching all my movies im seeing them in a much clearer way, especially with no more jagged edges and bad aliasing. Using Windows XP style scaling fixes it all (except for me getting used to having a larger seek bar down the bottom, that was good).
Another issue I hadnt noticed was that my colour was forced back to 16bit instead of 32bit when I was selected 59hz or 60hz. No matter what I did, it kept kicking back to 16bit. I had to get Powerstrip to force it to stay as 32bit. Weird Nvidia drivers perhaps for my 8500gt? Or a flaw in Windows 7.
Thanks to some of the suggestions put on here.

All renderers. Its just that Haali showed me what was scaled, the others look the same. The pics I posted were ffrom EVR renderer.

after changing my vidcard from a nvidia 7800gtx running some months old driver(186~) to a ati 5870 with 10.4 under WinXP 32b i'm having aspect ratio problems, i've tried Halli or EVR Sync, updating mpc-hc to 1922(from 1862) to no avail.
i'm running latest haali splitter v1.10.120.15
haali OSD shows output being resized to 1920x900!!!!.
What's funny is that ffdshow OSD shows the correct 1920x1088 and if i use EVR Sync with ctrl+j it also shows the display resolution in 1920x1200 but it's obviously squashed.
It's also happening with SD widescreen videos(i use ffdshow resizer) and they have these HUGE black bars
here:
http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/4207/brokenresize.th.jpg (http://img696.imageshack.us/i/brokenresize.jpg/)
more tests:
It seems that the culprit is the "Correct monitor/desktop AR diff" setting which always worked on my nvidia hardware. With SD 4:3 material it tries to stretch to screen(i'm always using touch from inside) no matter the renderer.
resuming:
Correct monitor/desktop AR diff with HD videos: vertical resized to 900 pixels
Correct monitor/desktop AR diff with SD "box" 4:3 videos: horizontal stretched to screen borders
screen res is 1920x1200
id you need any other data letme know

Now that I have fixed my scaling problem with video, my issue that my wife got used to the increased DPI increasing the size of MPC, such as the seek bar being double in size for her to see easier. I must say I got used to it being easier for seeking. Is there a away to increase the seek bar size? If not, could this be considered for future revisions?

Check GPU-z if video engine load is not on 0%. Also, is Speedstep enabled? This would affect CPU load percentage.

Most recent CPUs have this. You can use CPU-z to check core speed.
On Balanced power profile, the CPU can clock down to save power. On High Performance, by default it will not do this.
For instance: 50% of 1.2GHz could be 25% on 2.4GHz clock.

no, i am comparing coravc's cuda decoding with mpc-hc's dxva decoding which one has more cpu load.
and coreavc has with cuda more than the double cpu load as using dxva. i read at the coreavc forum that this only happen with windows x64 and not with x86.

Are you using MPC-HC 64-bit, or 32-bit? This (http://forum.corecodec.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3283) seems to only apply to a 64-bit media player, of which you can use a 32-bit media player even if the operating system is 64-bit.
So, the CoreAVC icon is Green or Blue and MPC-HC 32-bit or 64-bit?

i am using mpc-hc x64 and the cuda icon in the taskbar was green with coreavc. but it's a interesting idea testing mpc-hc x86.

I successfully compiled MPC-HC 1.3.1938.0 x86 using Intel C++ Compiler 11.1.060 (I saw the SVN log).
But one thing I noticed is that the about dialog is not showing.
Maybe because there's no MSVC version to be shown or no rule for ICC?
Edit:

This maybe?

Can you post the patch that you use to compile Mpc-Hc with ICL 11?
Did you fixed all ICL specific compile errors? I don't know if somebody had successful compiled with ICL 11.

Install ToirtoiseSVN properly and use the latest stable version. Since quite some time now, TortoiseSVN adds itself in PATH. So there's no need to use a hardcoded path like before.
About ICL11. Only Release Win32 compiles and the problems with the About dialog are exactly the same like with MSVC 2010. KindDragon has identified the problem with MSVC 2010 and it will be fixed when the MSVS 2010 project files are committed. It has to do with the manifest file though.

Hi. I've recently discovered MPC-HC with EVR-Sync in order to get smooth playback of 24Hz content with audio in sync. However When playing back video with PCM audio I get an audible (and visible) delay.
When EVR-Sync is enabled although the video is smooth as silk the karaoke is not 100% in sync with the audio. If I set EVR-Sync to 0ms it is in sync. However then you get jitter on the Vsync which is undesireable.
Is there any way to fix this? I do not notice any sync problems on bitstream audio using EVR-Sync. Only PCM.
I am using ReClock because I have been unable to get SPDIF output for bitstreams to work in MPC-HC. Bitstream just stutters and my amp never lights up for 5.1 audio. I have tried it on two different soundcards with SPDIF output (Also it did not fix the audio sync issue on PCM anyhow so using ReClock is not the problem here with regards to PCM sync). It appears to be with the way Vsync in EVR-Sync works. Is there a way to delay the audio after EVR-Sync has done it's thing? I tried to increase/decrease the rate in the MPC-HC menu but it did not seem to do anything?
EDIT: I have found a workaround of sorts. Not sure it if will stay in sync but it sorta fixes it for the few moments I watched. I set ffdshow audio decoder to reencode PCM to bitstream and when I start the video I pause it momentarily (Time to buffer up?). However the pause trick does not work with PCM alone.
EDIT2: OK I found a better workaround. I delayed the audio by 100ms in ffdshow's audio decoder. Since bitstream is set to passthru this should not effect it right? But I am curious why EVR is throwing a 100ms pre-delay(sic?) on PCM audio material.

Just installed Windows 7 x64 and Media Player Classic Home Cinema svn 1883:
http://xvidvideo.ru/media-player-classic-home-cinema-x86-x64/
Nothing else, just a clean install.
When I play any standard def video it drops frames for the first 5 seconds or so and when seeking.
HD videos have no such issue since they are playing using DXVA.
Full system: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=14684286
Update: MPC-HC 32bit build has same issue. Tried with default settings in MPC and changing between outputs and same dropping of frames with all outputs.
OK downloaded http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/testing/vlc-1.1.0-pre4/win32/vlc-1.1.0-pre4-win32.7z to see if it is just MPC-HC having the problem.
VLC plays standard def just fine so its just MPC-HC. :(
If you use Nvidia drivers newer than 196.21, then that's your problem. Fill in a report in the Nvidia site (http://www.nvidia.com/object/driverqualityassurance.html).

You can show us some benchmark results and I'm all for it. If you don't already know, I fully support ICL. It's just that in mpc-hc's case it's not worth the trouble. That ICL commit should be more clear about the fact that it's not officially supported by no one. At least for now.
