(have seen too many scam/crapware sites with similar images).
YES! That's exactly what it looks like. When you go to the new site you FEEL like you're in a scamware site that is trying to make you pay for a piece of software that is completely open-source and free. The webmaster should get rid of the family photo and clean up the existing layout to make it look more professional so as not to turn off potential new users of MPC-HC, because when the new stable version comes out, it will be spread all over the net as newsworthy software and that site makes it look like scamware.
I'd go with a minimalist design that looks professional.

I have yet to see any feedback from Beliyaal that confirms that "unchecking" ever Renderer Setting is equivalent to 908.
IIRC, Beliyaal did say this a few times in his thread.

@Adude
Have u seen a that (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=123537&page=379) beliaal post? Some of descriptions dont tell much, but u have to play with options by yourself anyway as player with beliaal's changes can behave on many system differently.
And i would change default settings. I would turn on only vsynch on XP (off when using aero vista/7), flushes leave as is and the rest stuff off as it should be tuned only when problems occured.
Yes, I am talking about that post. Again:
Reset to default renderer settings
Resets all above settings to the default.
What criteria was used to determine the "default" settings ?
VSync
Can be used to disable VSync. This is not recommended normally as disabling VSync will remove many stuttering and threading fixes. Should only used for debugging purposes.
This is the biggest question - what exactly, in a technical way, does "disable Vsync" mean here ?
Accurate VSync
Can be used to disable accurate VSync. If accurate VSync is disabled CPU usage is slightly decreased, especially when alternative VSync is also disabled.
What exactly is "Accurate VSync" - what is being disabled when this is disabled ?
Lastly, we need a post from Beliyaal, going through all the Renderer Settings and saying what should be the checked or unchecked status of each setting when one wants MPC-HC to act exactly as it did prior to the merge with Beliyaal's version.

Lol, disable Vsynch means theres no vertical synchronization performed.
Alt and acc synch work only when vsynch enabled. I think. I dont know technical meaning but all that suppose to help reaching smooth, tearing free playback. Start with vsych. If u still encounter any problems try others options. Find your best settings and forget now about explanations. Find for yourself what is the best for you. My default settings would be a hint.

Please no "somewhat technical" answers.
Again, when "Vsync" is not checked, and thereby "disabled", changing the other vsync settings affects the synchronization display chart.
We do not know whether unchecking "Vsync" simply turns off MPC-HC's vsync code, or whether it sends a message to the video card telling the video card not to do vsync.
Etc.

The website is fine. It beats the pants off the last one. The family photo is fine too. I'm sure the PDVD site has something like that. In my opinion MPC HC shouldn't be just for the initiated and in the know doom9 forum members. It should be accessible to everyone. So in this respect a minimalist approach isn't the way to go. Sure foobar200 is a great tool and they have a bear bones site. But how many more people use winamp than foobar200?

I was intending to get the Retail Box as a collectible 'Retail Box', it look nice :p.
As for the family photo, its fine but if it could show how trendy or advance feature looks like would be better, something like detail/functional pictures of what lies inside MPC-HC. Keep it up and :thanks:

why the picture quality in evr custom is so poor compared to overlay mixer?
i mean, pixelazation in dvds upconverted to 1080p output and zoomed hdrips. In overlay it is very smooth

New website is online : http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
Congratulation to Martin for his great work on new design :)
Better then the old site but new information should be added:
-more languages have been added
-more people have joined the project
...that sort of stuff
oh and make it more new-user/grandma friendly maybe ?
Constructive Criticism:
it do look a little like press-here-to-buy/fishy site at first glance

I just found a really NASTY crash.
Win7, Nvidia 185.85. rev1161. Both EVR CP and Haali crash the player entirely. Here's how to do it.
1) Download the INCREDIBLE HD trailer for 2012 here: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810045661/video/14045555
2) Rename the .mov to .hdmov
3) Try to play the file, watch it crash MPC over and over even with Haali. Playing it as .mov works fine.
Also, was that trailer awesome or what??
EDIT: Fixed this crash by upgrading to 186.18 Nvidia Drivers

Why rename to hdmov? Have you tried remuxing to mp4 using mp4box?

Guys, I have a question, might be a bug with the player but not sure.
I have spent the day setting up a new machine for my gf using windows xp service pack 3. I have installed latest dx sdk, nvidia drivers, .net and service packs. I opened the latest mpc-hc and notice it defaulted to overlay. Thats the first problem. Second problem is, although I can select evr-custom presentation, no dvd menus work with it. I can't hover over any of the menu items. Without reading through the whole thread, is there a quick fix for this problem? First time I have tried mpc-hc with xp for years so I am like a newbie again, just hoping its not too tricky as that would mean all current xp users would probably find it annoying to get evr-cp working. Defaulting to overlay though?....
I verified evr-cp is working, I can put up the stats overlay and see its doing fine. I am seeing tearing and can't navigate throughout dvd menus...

mark0077
18th June 2009, 22:16
Yeah in filters I see mpc-hc's mpeg2 decoder, DVD Navigator, EVR Custom Presenter, mpc-hc's ac3 decoder. All as expected. I saw this reported many times in this thread but havn't ever seen a solution to it.... thanks for any help you can give. Would love to get at least dvd's working with evr-cp + no tearing.

Why rename to hdmov?Because .mov files get played using the QuickTime framework instead of DirectShow. It is possible to change that in the options. But since it is useful to use QuickTime for playing certain .mov files, renaming HD trailers to .hdmov is a quick way to use DirectShow.

Just installed Cat 9.6 on a HD3850AGP (XP32, VMR9 Renderless) and DXVA seems to be borked. Files play, but every so many frames, an old frame is displayed. Cyberlink plays them fine.
Turning off VMR9 Mixer mode solves the issue. But I'm pretty sure there was a reason why it was turned on.
Could be related to a known regression in build 1141, what happens when you use an older build?
Works without a problem (tried build 1008, fairly old).

This is a well known problem, which is in the bug tracker.
The workaround is to create two different folders, one for mplayerc and one for mplayerc_dvd. Put the latest mpc-hc in mplayerc and put MPC-HC version 1.0.11.0 from October 2007 in mplayerc_dvd.
When your autoplay identifies a DVD, have it run the one in mplayerc_dvd and all other files run the one in mplayerc. (There are other methods besides autoplay, you could use shortcut links, etc.)

I have finally decided to try to merge some of the features of the player on this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=146012) into MPC-HC. I've checked out the latest trunk version, installed MinGW and yasm, and most of it compiles in VS 2008 (with some warnings that I will look into later). There's at least one issue left though and perhaps somebody out there can help: I get the following error message: 3>.\WebClientSocket.cpp(25) : fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'atlisapi.h': No such file or directory It seems that the file (and some other files that render error messages too) were part of VS 2005 but have been removed since.
Should I explicitly try to use the VS 2005 header files and libraries (?) or should I try to compile the semi-open source package from Microsoft where they now seem to belong? Any other advise also appreciated.
Thanks! -Arto

i think you need:
(Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1, Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 RC, DirectX SDK v.9.26.1590, GCC 4.4.1 (svn rev. 148360, prerelease) x86_32)

19th June 2009, 14:34
@ar-jar
To compile you need:
* Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1
* Microsoft® Windows® Software Development Kit Update for Windows Vista™ Download
* BaseClasses from same SDK
* DirectX SDK (August 2007) Download
* For VS2008SP1 see ATL Server Library and Tools
* MinGW GCC 4.2.4 x86_32 MinGW - Minimalist GNU for Windows or TDM's GCC/MinGW32 Builds
* MinGW GCC 4.4.0 x86_64 MinGW - Minimalist GNU for Windows 64 to compile libavcodec_gcc.lib, Mingw GCC x64 can't compile any asm for Win64!
You'll get loads of errors initially and for each error you'll need to manually find each header and manually add it as an include to VS2008.

And all those warnings should be fixed/worked around.
Any volunteers? (also need to try and get a warning free compile on VC2010)
Baseclasses are no longer needed

Thanks guys for the help! I wasn't sure what to do with that "ATL Server Library and Tools" initially but I downloaded something called ATL_Server_Source_and_Headers_9_0_70425_Alpha.zip, built what there was to build and added a reference to its include directory to VS 2008. I got rid of the last failed builds (but there are plenty of warnings left). The mplayerc.exe fires up as it should and actually plays a BlueRay movie! I'll run some tests and see what else works.
As the ATL Server stuff was labeled "Alpha", I wasn't sure what its status was.
I've been logging my start-up woes and wins and I can perhaps later contribute to that wiki.

To add to the earlier bug report, things are fairly odd:
The subtitle stream does appear in the list of outputs of the mkv splitter.
However it doesnt appear to connect to vsfilter.
(possibly because it tries to connect video first and then subtitles?)
EDIT: the issue only arises with the internal splitter. With the external splitter(but still mpc's) things build correctly.

Can someone check the CPU usage between the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Mplayerc? particularly when internal filters are disabled!
You'd expect the x64 version to use less CPU but mine used noticeably more! - mind you that is with 64 bit ffdshow and the latest 32/64 bit version of ac3filter installed.

Twice the number of bits have to be dealt with, every time an address is processed.

applications compiled this way are almost always 0-20% faster than their 32bit counterparts. So something does seem to be wrong

There's not much you can do in C/C++ to "optimise" for the extra 64bit functionality (more registers etc. - that's up to the compiler.
What's happening here is most probably that there is no 64 bit equivalent for most 32 bit assembly code used only in those time-critical places where hand optimization makes sense.
