Even with skip all checks it should really not try to decode a format that will never work.
I thought the checks were just for reference frames and L5.1 and stuff.

Revision 4211 (http://mpc-hc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mpc-hc?view=revision&revision=4211) - Directory Listing
Modified Thu Mar 29 11:49:40 2012 UTC (6 days, 7 hours ago) by Aleksoid
Change : grouping the audio and subtitle popup menus in one place - the menu "Navigate";Perhaps a silly question, but how can I switch between multiple external subtitle files now?
kasper93
4th April 2012, 23:44
The same as always. That change was reverted in r4235 because there were problems with LAV Filters. And even with that change changing subtitle track was working same as always, except that two lists was merget into one. (from navigate menu and play menu)
I hope that this change will be fixed and committed again someday. I know that for power users it's irrelevant. But I know many people who don't even imagine to search subtitles/audio track in navigate menu. They always use LMB on screen and search track there. And they complaining later that MPC-HC don't recognize all audio tracks :) MPC-HC should be more user friendly at this point. Here is explained with screenes #1394 (https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1394)

sth like buffer size in MB

The ability to buffer ahead to the next file in the playlist would be most welcome addition for a more seamless transition also.

Indeed, I would like seamless transitions from the graph builder, too. I've taken a look at the code for the custom graph builder, but I couldn't figure it out (I'm not a DirectShow expert). Currently only the external MS DVD navigator will switch streams to the renderers (both menu sections and media files). Although that one really has a bunch of other flaws, the internal graph builder always dumps all loaded filters and reloads them with every file in the playlist, making seamless playlist transitions from the internal graph builder impossible.

That change was reverted in r4235 because there were problems with LAV Filters.Ah, I see. The moment I enabled the internal MKV Splitter I could switch between external subtitles again.
I don't understand why the menu-options for audio and subs have to merge. I really like it the way it is right now and I'd say it's pretty straight forward as well.
For external audio- and subtitle tracks: Play --> Audio and Subtitles.
For embedded/muxed audio- and subtitle tracks: Navigate --> Audio Language and Subtitle Language.
If you people still want to merge the menu-options, some things need to change.
Current situation (before r4235)
Audio Language >
*Language*, *Title* (Audio 1) [Default]
*Language*, *Title* (Audio 2)
filename.ext (entire filename)
Subtitle Language >
*Language*, *Title* [Default]
*Language*, *Title*
English (only a part of the filename. "Test.English.srt" for example)
Suggested situation
Audio Language >
(Audio 1) *Language*, *Title* [Default]
(Audio 2) *Language*, *Title*
(External) filename.ext (entire filename)
Subtitle Language >
(Subtitle 1) *Language*, *Title* [Default]
(Subtitle 2) *Language*, *Title*
(External) filename.ext (entire filename)
And please let the subtitle-renderer except filenames just as the audioswitcher; *movie-name*[randomwords].ext instead of the obligatory dot after the movie-name.
So, LotR1.mkv, LotR1English.dts, LotR1English.srt and LotR1Dutch.srt...
instead of LotR1.mkv, LotR1English.dts, LotR1.English.srt and LotR1.Dutch.srt.

Its not that people are on dialup, but people also browse with their phones, which may have slow connections and/or limited data plans.
Is it really necessary to post 6MB of images? Its just stupid. Post a link to the image, and if someone cares he can click it.
Heck even on my fast and unlimited home connection i get annoyed by those posts, they just make the page unnecessarily unreadable.

I agree partly though i think about the Bandwith issue different if you not happy with Mobile Internet how it is today and have no Flatrate then don't use it ;)
The Esthetics side i agree but i believe it's in the Forums Software to manage this dynamically not on the user side Manualy ;)

Simply because that's not default icon from mpc-hc's icon lib that comes with it. It's from Potplayer.

I am trying to get some aspect ratios to work with key assignments. I have an anamorphic lens, so I want to show either just normal 16:9 in a 16:9 window, or I want to show 2.35:1 in a 16:9 window. In other words, no black borders.
I see zoom 1 and zoom 2 can be selected by key assignments or shortcuts, but I don't know if they can be changed. Alternately I can have wide or ultra wide customizable, but can't see how to assign them to keys.
So how do I edit the settings for zoom1 or zoom2, or how can I assign shortcuts to those pan&scan settings?
Alternately, touch from outside (which can be left as the default setting), then select 4:3 by keyboard shortcut or "default" under the aspect ratio menu item. Can those be assigned to keys?
Ideally, I'd like to assign 2 separate keys to them, so I can program them on the remote. A toggle between them would do also, but I'd prefer the first. I'd also rather not see a menu item pop up.
Sorry, I did search the thread, but at nearly 1000 pgs, I don't think I'm going to find what I'm looking for.
Thanks
You can easily do more specific presets in the pan and scan menu for fixed and moving lens installations - like 1.78, 1.85, 2.20, 2.35 etc., only the math behind it is a bit tricky.
Problem is again: No shortcuts, so it always has to be right click mouse, pan&scan, preset - would be nicer if a keyboard shortcut could be assigned for these presets.
Another issue is that the player does not remember the preset used when it was playing a file the last time nor the audio or subtitle track selected. That would be very helpful, too.
Apart from that mpc hc does a lot things right and is very stable, but the need to always reformat upon startup with nonstandard screens and displays is a bit tedious especially when all the tools seem to be there.

Is there an easy way to adjust video brightness in MPC-HC? (e.g. keyboard shortcut)
Or is going to View->Options-> Miscellaneous the only way?

It is possible to have keyboard shortcuts for that, you just need to assign them (see Options > Player > Keys > Brightness increase / Brightness decrease).

@ Alexins regarding the "Window Close" bug (https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1938) after more testing with MPC-HC x64 normal/trunk/SVN version I found that are more commands (= keyboard shortcuts mapped in my remote control) that don't work !
e.g. ctrl+7 = "Toggle Playlist Bar" or ctrl+i = "Remaining Time"...
while others are working
e.g. Up Arrow or Down Arrow = Volume Up or Down or left Arrow and right Arrow = Jump Backward or Jump Forward or Page Up = Previous or Page Down = Next ...
So in fact the problem it's that SOME commands (= keyboard shortcuts) sent from my Remote Control are NOT received/working normally with the MPC-HC x64 normal/trunk/svn version while they are received/working normally with MPC-HC x64 BE Mod and ALL MPC-HC x86 versions

Summary of imo important bug-reports yet to be fixed:
- Standalone Shoutcast Source Filter doesn't work (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1562)
Updated information: (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1561763#post1561763) "But with MPC-HC it seems [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http] is the only place it's looking for for, not only SHOUTcast-, but all streaming- DS-filters. First I thought it was the MPC-HC SHOUTcast Source Filter, then MPC-HC's *.m3u and *.pls parsing capabilities, but now I think this could be the reason why streaming has been so miserable for so long."
This is probably the main reason why MPC-HC has so much difficulty with SHOUTcast and can't load other DirectShow filters capable of handling SHOUTcast streams.
- MP4 Splitter seeking difficulty with downloaded Youtube movies (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1682)
11 Days ago it allegedly should've been fixed. The same day I replied: I do appreciate the effort, but now with rev.4212, while seeking, it takes a staggering 30 seconds (with cpu at 100%) before the video continues normally again!
This is the case with the internal MP4 Splitter, Video- and Audio decoder. With FFDShow instead of the internal Audio decoder, the video plays "normal" after a seek, but cpu is still at 100% for 30 seconds. No problems at all with LAV Filters.
Although I haven't seen any MP4 Splitter related entries between r4212 and r4306, I can say now that with the 3 internal filters the video plays "normal" after seeking. Upon seeking cpu usage is still at 100%, but now for a 10sec max.
- MPC-HC can't load avs-file which calls forth FFDShow deinterlacer (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1896)
A more suitable title would rather be "MPC-HC fails to load Avisynth plugins when %path% is not present in *.avsi".
Unlike AvsP (GUI for Avisynth), MONOGRAM GraphStudio and Zoom Player, this issue is only with MPC-HC.
- Feature Request: TAK in extension list (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/1906)
If OptimFROG is in it, TAK deserves to be in it too! 3 Weeks ago I added 2 files which I believe could manage that.
- RM[rv2,cook] (http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/real/RLG2_19.rm): r4041 works fine, but r4045 crashes immediately. Either r4043 or r4045 (both RealSplitter related) is responsible.
- Bug & Feature Request for the AudioSwitcher: Ability to apply post-processing on multiple external audio tracks. (http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/mpc-hc/ticket/2086)
Request for letting the AudioSwitcher except post-processing filters on its output-pin, rather than adding one for every single external audio track.
